Shouryuu Izakaya & Ramen in Elsrijk

Had my first Ramen there - so tasty! I was assuming it would be very fat because of pork, but no. The meat itself was good prepared and of decent quality without any veins. During my visit I was the only client, so all attention was pointed to me. Highly recommend!

For the price quality ratio we did not find it worth eating here. Service was not really just an order taken, furthermore there was no music or anything to brighten up the atmosphere. The price is quite expensive for some starters.

A genuine Japanese restaurant in a residential area. It has an outdoor terrace and indoor dining tables. The food is delicious and authentically Japanese. You'll also see many Japanese expats dining here. The restaurant doesn't immediately stand out from the outside, but it's highly recommended.

We were just passing by and decided to swing by for a bite into the only place in the area that was open. But the we were pleasantly surprised! The food was great, rice properly cooked, chicken and salmon were delicious!

A disappointment. Lazy, uninterested service. Food was “ok” - one of the poorer tonkatsu ramens I’ve had in a while. Atmosphere poor - place was pretty empty. Several items on the menu you couldn’t order… they’re clearly in cost saving mode. Prices were fine. Wouldn’t return here again (but convenient to the Amstelveen mall). Avoid. To update comment - to reflect restaurant feedback - yes only one server, but only one other couple in the restaurant - hardly overworked. Kitchen was already clean (perhaps that’s what several items were unavailable?), they had little work to do at the time and seemed bored. Have lived / travelled throughout Asia (including Japan extensively)… this was not great ramen - I’d put Wagamama’s higher. We arrived before 6:30pm and ordered promptly (closing time is 8:00pm and 7:00pm is kitchen closing). We had eaten, paid and left by 7:20pm… so not sure you want to turn away all your customers…

The food has deteriorated considerably: it is not warm for the ramen and rice and even partly cold, like the octopus balls.

Food, service and atmosphere all great. I don't usually eat pork, but the bits in the ramen were amazing, as was the rest of the dish. And a Japanese Maple in the garden, I can only hope mine will be as magnificent some day.

After visiting the cobra Museum on a winter I googled ramen and this was the closest open place. And surprisingly I hate one of the best ramens of my life. Completely unpretentious and low key, it was a great surprise.

The food was really good, only a bit of a small portion, at least for me. The atmosphere could be better though :) but the service was top notch !

Homemade nice ramen restaurant with kindly service. Recommend!

According to the sign on the door, it is open until 8:00 PM on Thursdays. However, it was already completely closed at 7 p.m. We had previously been there to pick up, but this was also not possible. The rationale for this case is unclear to me.

Small portions, the ramen has a different style to it from traditional Japanese ramen.

Visited this izakaya to order three ramen dishes to take away. This was not possible because the kitchen would close in 30 minutes, it was announced. From this moment on, the restaurant was still open for 1.5 hours according to the self-indicated times. Previously tried to order online, but the order was canceled by the restaurant. So I can't say anything about the quality of the food, but I will skip this service from now on.

Had a very nice dinner with black garlic, tonkotsu ramen and takoyaki, in a tidy nice restaurant. I would recommend it.

Food was in relative small portion. It was not japanese considering tranditions. Fried chicke is something to work on. I can taste the chicken other than the flagrant from fried food. Fried pork with curry is tasty. Rice was not expected but was completely right. Besides of the salad in bowl was not expected in japenese food. Overall, environment and services are fantastic. Food is to consider as fusion (?).

Ordered the black garlic ramen. Very tasty ramen. Also nice place to cool down after a busy day in the center.

We ordered 4 things: - The tonkotsu ramen is decent but we had better - The chicken ramen had a lot of pepper (we guess) and after half of the bowl wasn't enjoyable anymore. - The Fried iberico pork for 16 eur was very fatty and too dark deep-fried for us and didn't had any greens on the side. - The shrimps also suffered from too old oil and weren't very tasty. The menu was missing the fish which can be seen on some reviews and didn't have any skewered meat. We won't come back, price-value ratio is not good.

We had a lunch here and tried different ramen. The tonkotsu ramen tastes well, and the souper base is nice and fatty. The ramen egg is almost perfect. The chicken ramen I would not recommend, soup bar is very flaw and the meatball is tasteless.

Passed by and was so glad to have had dinner here. Hot ramen in this weather, lovely food for an amazing price.

Has a very limited menu. But we like the ramen. And I'm very picky about my ramen. The soup is pretty fatty and rich as it should be. I like the ramen here because it is not so salty as most places are. Really accessible by car. I don't understand why it's usually empty because I thought the food was great. Will be regular customers as we love ramen and live close by!

The place is authentic and nice. Lady at the bar acted also as a waiter was forgetful. We reminded her about our order two times (it is not a big restaurant and not much people there). Ramen was delicious, beef wasn’t cooked well.

Brilliant cozy restaurant! I dont understand how the rating is not 5 stars. The quality of the food is uncanny, and everything is apparently home-made (all the sauce and, everything they have on their big menu). The restaurant is run by a charming husband and wife who show very kind hospitality. Great prices too, especially for how high quality their food is! We got lucky to have a small chat with one of them, and not only do we want to come back for the food, but also for the great service.

We waited for half an hour for restaurant to be open just as they work between 12 and 15 and they were not ready to open for at least another 30 min

Had a quick lunch here with friends before heading for our next appointment in the afternoon. It’s a nice small joint run by a Japanese family (I am assuming 😆) and the food was really good. I tried all of the dishes and everything was great. Personally I ordered an Unagi Don for myself and the unagi was so good and cooked perfectly. The best dish was the wagyu don which was like heaven in a bowl.

We had dinner here for a family birthday and it was absolutely wonderful. The restaurant was quiet unfortunately, because the food was wonderful! We all had ramen and shared some other dishes. The tuna salad was very good. The chicken skin was nice and crispy and we enjoyed some pork and duck breast too. We didn’t take any photos but really enjoyed the food! Just took one of my mochi. Totally recommend!

Limited veg options and lackluster service

The place is stylish and clean, and staff friendly. Tried the tonkotsu shoyu ramen here, although the presentation was good, noodles tasty, and volume also just right, the ramen soup could be improved. It was a little too thin in both texture and in flavor.

Today a friend and I had lunch at this small but extremely nice restaurant. We both had the Kimchi/ Pork Ramen noodlesoup.The taste was very nice, the soup not salty or greasy. Very fresh ingredients used. The service was very fast and friendly.Will try this lovely restaurant for dinner next time. Highly recommended!

I am reading the reviews and honestly the reviews are not in line what we have tasted. Every single dish was so so good. It is making me want to go back to Japan. The skewers were good. Quality of the food and price was also good. I do have a remark to maybe change your menu properly again. Scratched out prices not so nice. But it is a small detail. I would recommend people to eat here .

We bumped into this little restaurant by coincidence when traveling by car to amstelveen to see the sakura. I think we have ordered almost every piece of kushi yaki and it was sooooo good . You even have free parking in the street. We went on a Tuesday evening and I was just surprised it was not packed.. the taste brought me back to Japan! must try.

The chef really knows how to eat: the teriyaki chicken leg rice has crispy chicken skin, and the homemade teriyaki sauce has a perfect balance of aroma and honey sweetness. The free-range chicken thighs are very fresh and retain the moisture and flavor very well. There is also a bit of crisp bone left in the meat to increase the texture when biting into it. The side dishes of cucumbers, tomatoes and vegetables are very fresh, and the salad dressing is a finishing touch of rice vinegar. The rice is the finest Japanese pearl rice. Only those who know how to eat can make such a delicious bowl! Eat until you make a happy sound!

Just ordered the pork (tonkotsu) ramen. It’s the worst ramen I’ve ever tried and I paid 21.50 for it which must be a crime. It was sooo disgusting, almost threw up when I smelled and tried it. To make sure it’s not just me, I’ve asked my gf to try it as well and she was even more disgusted than me. AVOID!

Super recommended! An appointment is required. I run a restaurant myself, and I was amazed when I tried this place. I ordered the hidden menu, Tomahawk steak a day in advance. The steak is super fresh and it served with corns and free foie gras. All foods presented is super amazing. The table service is also very good!

Cozy little restaurant. They serve the best ramen I have eaten. The rich and fragrant broth and the springy noodles are unforgettable and paired with the hot spring egg, it is a bite of soul. The foods are super fresh and the cooker cooks attentively. I recommended it to many friends, and they all love it. Just remember, It is better to make a reservation in advance.

We visit 2 time during the open hour, even 2 hours before the closing time, they rejected us with the reason that thier kitchen is closed

Such as a great service I ever had, with no reservation hint available on Google map. And Google map says open until 15:30, so we arrived at 14:35, then just told us the kitchen is close. We visited again at 20:30 which restaurant is close at 22:00, but they just told us kitchen is close again. Should say good luck for us not spending money here or not. The information is incorrect on their web and Google map, and there was no suggestion after we visited at noon, just say sorry but the kitchen was close already. I will not visit this store again.

For lunch we ordered Toripaitan ramen, Kobe beef don, gyozas and the duck breast. The ramen bowl is small just like the portion of meat in the kobe beef don. Gyozas were taken from a package (as with most restaurants). I dare to write home about the taste of all dishes, but the price/quality ratio could be better. The interior gives you the feeling of being in Japan, but the prices do not.

Beautiful ambiance and a nice location in the middle of a pleasant residential area and very easily accessible. I tried two different times. Unfortunately, it is still really unsuitable for vegetarians, because there are no dishes without meat or fish. Hopefully the map has been updated in the meantime, because it's been a while since I was there last. It would be nice if there were also some vegetarian options to choose from. Then I would come more often, because I eat out quite regularly. I also understood that my carnivorous table companion said it was good food. But a bit pricey for what you get.

Amazing food, clean and relaxing environment with great service.

De restaurants en terrassen zijn eindelijk weer open en leek het me daarom een goed idee om direct uit eten te gaan. Ik had goede verhalen gehoord over dit knusse restaurantje, dus wilde dat daarom zelf even testen. Het is een eenvoudig menu, maar genoeg keus. We hebben 3 verschillende soorten ramen geprobeerd, welke allemaal prima smaakten. De ramen zelf had wat ons betreft echter wel iets meer bite mogen hebben. Naast de ramen hadden we nog een aantal side dishes besteld. Voor de prijs hadden we echter wel iets grotere porties verwacht. Al met al wel lekker gegeten, maar de prijzen zijn wel wat aan de hoge kant in verhouding met de grootte van de porties. Bediening spreekt overigens geen Nederlands, iets wat voor sommigen een minpunt is.

Great Japanese restaurant in Amstelveen ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ For the beautiful venue. Perfectly clean and well decorated ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ For the service. The staff speaks perfect English and everyone friendly. I appreciated that the waiter each time she was coming to serve the table, she was wearing a mask. Also the chef has been wearing the mask all time that was preparing my meal. Great attitude towards the prevention for the covid19 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ To the food, nice and delicious ⭐⭐⭐⭐ For the ratio quality-price. The food is good but 22€ for a chicken ramen 🐔🍜 one little portion of edamame and a bottle of water is a bit too much. I think the ramen could be a little bit more abundant. I found the plate a bit smaller than the average ramen I ate. What is scandalous is the water. 2€ for a bottle of 0.25l so this means that 8€ per liter for water! That's crazy.

It is an OK Japanese restaurant, a little expensive, but the place is very nicely decorated

I had ordered the gyoza, fried prawn and grilled squid with my family and found that the fried prawn was quite dry and the squid was a bit overcooked. The gyoza was quite nice but the service was slow and the dishes were very expensive and not of the best quality. They didn't have everything when we came there even though we did reserve. They did not have any onigiri and that was all I know of since I didn't bother ordering something else. I personally do not recommend going here but that's just my personal opinion.

Small restaurant, we were very disappointed that the open kitchen was poorly ventilated - we came home and smelled like a burnt deep fryer. From the reviews that were on the internet, this was not quality food. Real Japanese food is delicious to taste. This wasn't special or even normally tasty at all. You pay dearly for small dishes that don't even overwhelm. The only thing that was tasty was the etoro maguro salad. The rest was nothing. So, I'll never go there again.

Amazing food and great service. The ingredients are always fresh and beautifully prepared and decorated on the plate. We come here all the time and the quality is always consistently great. And the staff is very nice and polite. On top of all that the place looks super nice.

Cosy little dinning place serving fresh ingredients with the right touch. Sunagimo yakitori is the best in NL. Toro salada is fresh fresh fresh. Attention to details. Will come often.

Went here for dinner today, we hadn't made a reservation but luckily there was a table available. The food was delicious! We had Ramen, fried shrimp, toro salad and 2 tasty desserts. Service is friendly. Will definitely come back here!

The two of us had made a reservation at half past eight. Looks nice from the outside. Started with a menu where torn off leaves were stuck with adhesive tape everywhere over the dishes that they did not 'yet' serve. Half of the remaining dishes were sold out. Still found something and the taste wasn't bad. However, when we were the only table at half past eight, the cook and one of the two waitresses went outside the window to smoke and when they came back they started carrying crates and extensively scrubbed the kitchen. We didn't order dessert anymore. All in all, not recommended!

Great original Japanese place. Ask for help and you will have a great time here. The food is very original, good quality. We liked the starters the most and have had lots of them. If you like Japanese food, you will like this place. Small but high quality!

We had dried fish, pork cutlet, grilled squid, some skewers, and a glass of wine. It was really delicious! The person who is making it is a Chinese person who learned cooking in Japan. To be honest, I was more satisfied with the taste of Japan than any Japanese restaurant I've eaten at in Europe. I was a little moved and thought, ``I really learned Japanese cuisine.'' I want to go again. Thank you for the meal.

Excellent Japanese food restaurant in Amstelveen area. Food looks as good as it tastes! There are many Japanese restaurants in this area, and Shouryuu is certainly one of my favorites.

Super tasty food! Very friendly staff :)

Food is ok, each dish just misses a bit of umami to make it a good dish for me. Had the fried iberico pork, it was too well done. The chutoro salad also missed something that made me go wow (which I usually get when eating toro-chutoro or otoro). The teriyaki and tebayaki also were a little too overcooked and missed some flavor.

Japanese restaurant a bit spotless

This place is a must go. We found it by change while walking around and we are defiantly going back again. The ambiance is just lovely: comfortable chairs, tables are not too close to each other, the terrace is quite cute as well. The girl that waited on us was extremely friendly and all her recommendations were spot on. We had a couple of dished, but the one I am sharing is the one we liked the most. The mushrooms and beef were cooked perfectly. It is really worth your while.
