Kokusai in Stadshart

Yesterday, we were a group of 24 adults, 5 children, and 3 babies. We were celebrating Grandma's birthday. Her birthday is on Christmas Day. We were so happy to be welcomed to this restaurant to celebrate! The staff were incredibly friendly, nothing was too much trouble, and the children received a fun coloring kit. The food was delicious. Santa Claus even made a visit, there were fireworks, and we had singing with dessert! A fantastic party! We had a wonderful time at your beautiful restaurant! Thank you so much! 🎄🎉

First of all, it's a really lovely place, with a great atmosphere, delicious food, and good service. A few of my favorites: the squid, lamb, kimchi, and of course, the sushi.

The sushi was much better last time. It seemed fresher. Plenty on the menu, but not a huge selection. On the one hand, it was fine. Friendly staff.

We used to eat here regularly. Now, after a while, we're back again. The first round was very tasty. After that, the quality really deteriorated. The tuna was truly awful. It tasted like soapy water.

All you can eat sushi. Very delicious and service is very fast. Location is very convenient. At the last stop of tram 5.

We had a wonderful meal here, and we love coming here. Special requests are always welcome, and the food is delicious and fresh.

Delicious sushi and great service, but it is very busy so you really want to leave after 2 hours.

I spontaneously chose Kokusai for a sushi date. To my surprise, the service was incredibly fast and the staff were very friendly. I'm no sushi pro, but it was definitely delicious! The atmosphere was also really nice. We couldn't make a reservation online anymore, but the ladies at the reception desk were very helpful. Of the five rounds you could order, we could have used four, but we barely finished the last one. We were completely full! Very satisfied and definitely worth going back! 👌🏻✨

I go once a month, and have been for a year now. It maintains its standard and quality over time, something hard to find these days.

I went there 2 weeks ago along with my wife and a visitor from abroad. Since my wife is vegan, she didn’t want to have the all you can eat menu but just to choose some options from the à la carte menu. At this point the waiter told us that we can either all have the unlimited menu or all of us go for à la carte. He also explained that we can sit in separate tables if we want different menus. His reasoning was that my wife might eat from our unlimited menu and they won’t know it. We were shocked by the lack of trust and rude hospitality and went away without ordering anything. Don’t open a restaurant if you can’t trust and be nice to your customers.

Absolutely the worst “all-you-can-eat” experience I’ve ever had. The duck breast was spoiled, the chicken tasted old and not fresh at all, and the small octopus wasn’t cleaned properly — there was slimy residue inside that was honestly disgusting. I ordered the first round and left. Not worth the money at all! You should at all cost avoid this restaurant.

The food was delicious! I especially love the ebi tempura.. My friend who's vegetarian also enjoyed it and had plenty of dishes to choose from. It was busy, but in a good way, and the service was superb. I'll definitely be back!

Great restaurant, the food comes quickly. The food is good value for money. Plenty of parking.

Went their on a weekday. The server at the gate was rude to start with. My husband said good evening and table for 2. He did not hear the greeting and passed a sarcastic comment of “we say good evening”. The food use to be very good now it’s like mediocre quality. My husband vomitted at the end of the meal. Price is not justified either. The servers are just not into their jobs. We asked for extra wasabi and it did not arrive until we left. Disappointing experience!!!

Not a kid-friendly restaurant. They had added my two-year-old toddler to their table as an adult. As if a little one is going to eat five times, one portion will be too much. Luckily, I realized it right away, even after I indicated three adults and a toddler. The waiter was like, "Okay, I'll take the single portion off, but when I see the little one is eating too, I'll add him back." OUTRAGEOUS. I'll never go there again, even though I've been a customer for at least the past 15 years.

Great location for all-you-can-eat sushi. Very large, but it doesn't immediately feel that way. The sound is quite loud. The lighting is dimmed throughout.

We chose this restaurant based on reviews, but unfortunately, it was a real disappointment. The meat and fish dishes certainly weren't very good, and even the sushi was mediocre. Too bad.

We ate here yesterday afternoon. The staff were unfriendly. We couldn't get a table by the window, but we managed to get one after we insisted. After that, we were given a lot of strange looks. Always great at Kokusai. Fast, fresh, and consistently high quality. The sushi is super fresh, the hot dishes are delicious, and the service is friendly and efficient, even when it's busy. Everything runs smoothly.

First and last time. We booked for 5 hours, arrived a bit late, about 10 minutes, and then you sit down, settle in, and decide what you want to drink. Before we even ordered our first round, we'd apparently already lost half an hour of our time. They work with two-hour time slots, so if you're late, that also deducts from your time. They do manage to serve everything on time, and the waitress was friendly. But it's a real gluttony, with absolutely no time for a chat or to enjoy your drink. The rounds are served so quickly it's practically food-related. The fish is fine, but the meat is bone dry. I left all the meat I ordered; I couldn't eat it. Half an hour beforehand, they tell you you still have half an hour left. This prevents you from enjoying your evening out in peace. They want you gone as quickly as possible to seat the next person. I was surprised they didn't send us away just yet, as our two hours were already up. We didn't have dessert or coffee because it felt more like they wanted us gone. A bad experience, and we'll never do it again.

Smoked eel sushi is from another dimension

Not much variety foods, overrated, high price. They bring me to cold miso soup. I didn't like nothing. I won't go again.

They serve gluten free sushi on the paper but serve normal sushi in reality! I am not mentioning contamination in here. When I realized crunchy parts and asked if this is gluten free or not, I learned that every course that I served was normal sushi, not gluten free. And the answer is "this may happen in kitchens as big as theirs". This was not acceptable. Why did I choose in the glutenfree menu then.

When we visited this restaurant ,we almost loved everything there. First of all, food were fresh and ofcourse very tasty, secondly I liked atmosphere there- sometging warm attracted me, thirdly servise was very good- food were coming quickly. We tried diffent types of sushies ,later we ordered meat food also (I forgot to take a photos). We were satisfied . I recommend this place

I've been coming here for years. A regular, so to speak, but I was really put off today. First, there was a piece of blue plastic in my shrimp. The owner agreed it must have been the scallions and apologized. As compensation, I got the shrimp again. 😂 That's like bullying the customer, sorry. And that from an experienced restaurant owner. I would have at least offered the customer a drink on the house. Then I found a hair from one of the waitresses on my plate. And they allow dogs in the restaurant. As for hygiene and hospitality, you won't be coming here again. Kokusai is done for and I'll be advising others against it as well.

I find the cost of all you can eat very expensive if you are an average eater.

The service was outstanding, every request was handled with genuine care and a smile, which is a rare find in the Netherlands. The food was top quality and absolutely worth the price. I’ll definitely be visiting more often. Special thanks to our lovely waitress, Eden!

The concept is as follows: There are five rounds, and you can order four dishes per person. The options are very rich, including sushi, meat, chicken, duck, shrimp, squid, etc. Overall, I can say it's delicious.

Went on evening with fixed price menu offer but weren’t that hungry so manager agreed to al a carte menu which was much appreciated. Extensive meal choice and all dishes were quick to serve, fresh and tasty. Good choice. Restaurant is large and very busy which is a good indicator for us.

I've had mixed experiences at this restaurant. Today the food was delicious and fresh. The service was good and fast, friendly, and helpful. Those QR menus are driving me crazy, but luckily they still had a physical list I could order from. It's always a handy option to sit down and have some snacks. You can sit inside and outside, and there's a downstairs and upstairs area. I was hungry, so unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the food, only the dessert.

This is THE best sushi restaurant ever. I have visited quite a few others since most of my family loves sushi. No, no other to consider, even as option. This is the ONE. I am a regular customer. Started going to the restaurant since it opened. Went through quite a few changes but always kept the qauility and the service at the highest level. Even with deliveries during C time. Very friendly service. Great food. From time to time it gets crowded but if you reserve up front you will have no issue.

Superb restaurant. The all you can eat offer is very generous, we only managed 4 out of the 5 rounds. Sushi quality is fantastic and there are great options for small children too. Lovely atmosphere, laid back vibe.

Food is mediocre, all you can eat style, stupendously expensive and unpleasant barrage of plates served by tired staff. Food is there but culture, joy, enjoymemt is subtracted from the experience.

Glory days are over. Kokusai has changed too much into a lightning fast sushi factory. The staff throws the sushi on the table with great feeling, puts the plates on the edge of the table, almost pushes the tray in your face and expects you to take everything, reorganize and clean up. It is true that the sushi is on the table very quickly and the quality of the sushi is good, but I cannot help but feel that the staff has to work under great pressure. Not pleasant for the customer and does not improve the atmosphere. On two occasions, large piles of plates fell to the ground, which made a deafening noise. This was not the case in the past, when it was much more relaxed and quiet.

I was here a few years ago. I felt it was more luxurious then than now. Food is reasonable. But could be much better, and it is very crowded

First time here. Concept fairly similar to La Cubanita, 't Zusje. You order via QR code via App. In terms of taste and neatness of serving, it's fine. But still a feeling of not being completely satisfied. What's the problem? Although the place is large and neat, it is very noisy. Does that make that feeling not quite right? No, because you order via an App, max. 4 dishes per person per round, makes it messy. At what point then? Well, when serving. We were in a setting of five people. That means max. 5x4 dishes on your table per round. When serving, hardly anything was said or incomprehensibly about what exactly was what. That can and should be better. It was just a gamble now. And that's fine if everyone likes everything. As soon as someone doesn't like something or is even allergic to something, it becomes an annoying gamble. The price-quality ratio is good though. There is room for improvement simply in the service provided.

Good food, nice atmosphere inside. Depending on who is in the kitchen, the food is always good. One makes it tastier than the other but nothing to complain about. Service is often fast and friendly. Reservations are always useful.

Nice sushi place in a beautiful location. At first we were a bit disappointed that you could only order 5 rounds, but when we heard that you could always order an additional sushi boat, that was immediately remedied. We were served kindly and the food tasted great. The only downside was the noise from the fair on the square next to us, but of course the restaurant can't do anything about that. Definitely recommended!

The place is lovely. Staff are attentive and super helpful. The ordering system is via an app. Will you get the wrong food? Probably. But they will sort it out. Will you get all the food you ordered? Maybe eventually. Is the food good? Absolutely! Will you make sense of the bill. Absolutely not. However, do you feel like you got value for money? Yes. The food is all excellent. No matter what you eat. Please go it is worth a bit of madness.

Fantastic place on the water, but my debit card can't stop crying

The restaurant has a very cozy atmosphere and the service was top notch, friendly staff and everything was arranged quickly. Unfortunately the food was a bit disappointing; the flavors were a bit flat and not quite what we expected. Still, we had a nice evening, especially because of the relaxed atmosphere and the good service.

We have come as a group of six people, and the truth is that it has not been clear to me at all if we can order for yes people and share or not. Very confusing. For the rest. Ok

Actually not much different from other sushi restaurants. That's not necessarily bad. The sushi tastes good, the atmosphere is nice and the staff is very friendly.

Parking is possible nearby. Pleasantly arranged inside and furnishings suit such an occasion. Reception fine. Clean shop, including the toilets. You do have to climb a large flight of stairs to reach the toilets. The staff is friendly, cleans up quickly and thinks along. Very pleasant. Ordering with the scanned QR code is easy. Dishes come quite quickly. Large range of drinks. The sushi is delicious. My favorite: the gunkan new style. Everything tastes great and is fresh. Too bad the nori of the temaki is slippery and therefore tough. Ordering several desserts to share was a very good option. I am very curious about their other restaurant in Alkmaar.

Cozy restaurant. Friendly staff and good food. What really bothers me is that there are crowds of people waiting for a table to become available... so if you sit in the middle of the place, there are people with their coats still on, breathing down your neck and looking over your shoulder to see what you are eating. Really super disturbing and unpleasant. Then make sure there is a waiting area... for guests arriving (too early).

I often eat at Kokusai restaurant in Amstelveen, and it deserves a glowing 5-star review! The food is absolutely delicious, and both kids and adults love it. For Japanese cuisine lovers, this place is fantastic. You get five rounds of food, and we always find ourselves full after the third round. The dishes are fresh and bursting with flavor, making it my favorite restaurant in Amstelveen. Highly recommended!

Best sushi at an all you can eat restaurant I've tried

The food is what you’d expect from an all-you-can-eat restaurant—nothing special. It’s disappointing that many menu items now come with an extra charge, which doesn’t really fit the concept. However, the restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, a nice ambiance, and friendly staff, making it a comfortable place to dine.

I really like coming there. Not only because the food is tasty, but also because it is prepared hygienically. Important for health. The property is also cozy. Yesterday an acquaintance from Belgium came to catch up. The team gave us just a little more time to sit a little longer, even though it was busy. Super sweet. In short, highly recommended.

Place is nice and food is good, i ve been many times. Only problem is the amount of sauce on top of all the rolls. Why the need to add so much savoury sauce on a fish dish? It covers the original taste of the sushi/sashimi

Reserved for 5:45 pm arrived a little earlier around 5:30 pm. We didn't pay much attention to the time and after ordering the 2nd round, a waitress told us that if we wanted to order a 3rd round, we could do it before the end of the shift. To which we indicated that we have time from 1745 to 1945. Waitress looked at the reservation and according to her we were seated at 5:32 PM. Very tight planning which made the dinner very disappointing. Food was fine and very tasty. Just need to be a little more flexible with the planning. Also had a nice meal. Maybe we will try it there again and otherwise Fussia is better organized in terms of planning. And just as tasty, maybe even tastier!

Been coming here for years, previously almost twice a month. The last 3 times I think Kokusai has deteriorated. The prices are the same as last year, the sushi is suddenly larger, meaning larger quantities of rice. And for example, an extra bulb for sesame buns, a larger portion in the container for noodles, etc. So that your belly is full with rice or noodles instead of fish or meat. This means you can place fewer types of orders. We ordered fresh orange juice that was anything but fresh. The waiter came by several times with dishes that were intended for another table. It's a shame that the quality of the food and service is more than it used to be.

Delicious. We eat here almost every week and it is delicious every time. The staff is friendly. Fast service. Beautiful. Exactly what you would expect from an all-inclusive restaurant.

Ate here for the first time, but it will be the last time. Everything we ordered was not tasty or disappointing, except for 1 sushi roll. Because we couldn't eat it, we of course left some food behind for which we paid extra. The manager was not open to criticism and had the attitude of a street fighter. Ripped off...after having eaten here a lot for years. Strange after taste. Unfortunately we won't be coming here anymore. My girlfriend has had an operation and has a stomach reduction. We thought it was too expensive to pay so much money because of the All you can eat concept (39 per person). I noticed after her stomach reduction that we no longer came. (On average I came twice a month.) Her stomach is no bigger than a kiwi. I then asked the manager and his colleagues politely during the day without eating that day if we could get a discount (in the form of a children's menu) so that my girlfriend could come for the price. We agreed on this then. In the meantime, we had dinner a few times to celebrate a birthday and the appointment was otherwise kept as usual. Yesterday it suddenly went wrong. Neatly reserved, as always, upon arrival, please indicate that my girlfriend is having a stomach reduction. And suddenly the answer was. Well then we have to see how much you eat and then we will decide. Which already shocked me, because I am a big eater myself and easily eat 7-8 and sometimes 9 rounds on average. But I thought they knew me (regular guest for over 12 years) and because of the previous appointment no problem. But nothing could be further from the truth. After asking for the bill, I suddenly had to pay the full price. Which is strange because we ate 4 and 1/2 rounds. Still, they thought it was too much 😡. As usual, my girlfriend only had 8 pieces of sushi and I had the rest. After repeatedly indicating that we had made this agreement before, they suddenly stuck to their position. I now feel ripped off,😤 let that be clear and won't come again from now on. So for people with a stomach reduction. There are plenty of other restaurants that take this into account.

it's SO hot inside. really ruined the dining experience

Tweede Kerstdag 2024 om 1700 uur ontvangen met drankje en heerlijke amuse. Eerste twee gangen werden wij prima bediend, maar op de derde moesten wij 45 minuten wachten. Niet zo'n probleem, ware het niet dat een gastvrouw kwam melden dat wij nog een uur de tijd kregen voor het einde van onze tijd, 19.30 uur. Op een nogal onvriendelijke manier kregen we een weerwoord toen we ons verdedigden, dat we erg lang moesten wachten. Wij 'moesten begrijpen dat het erg druk was en dat we warme gerechten hadden besteld'. De derde gang kwam en we hadden nog net tijd om één gerecht van de vierde te bestellen. Dessert was heerlijk, maar ontspannen was het allang niet meer. Uiteindelijk om 19.30 uur betaald, toch nog fooi gegeven en vertrokken. Niet het kerstdiner waar we jarenlang aan gewend waren! P.S. En de smaak van e.e.a.? Mwah ... het ene te koud, het andere te veel mayonaise, ook niet wat wij van Kokusai gewend waren. Alles nogal vlak van smaak
