A luxurious, relaxed atmosphere on the edge of the Albert Cuyp Market. With delicious red wine and the Chef's Selection, the dinner was a success and very tasty. The DJ really adds to the wonderful atmosphere.

At Izakaya, the evening immediately felt right. The atmosphere is chic yet relaxed, exactly the mix I love. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and the tuna tartare was perfectly seasoned. I had a yuzu cocktail with it, which was wonderfully refreshing. The service was attentive without being pushy. It's the kind of place where you feel beautifully dressed and where everything is perfect.

A quiet establishment with a keen eye for detail. The sushi is beautifully rolled, the fish is fresh, and the seasoning is nothing too heavy; you can really taste the quality. The miso soup was smooth and warm, just as it should be. The service was polite, relaxed, and provided good information about the specials. The overall experience feels well-maintained, refined, and very consistent.

I was here last night and honestly had one of the strangest service experiences I’ve ever had in my life! We are staying at the Sir Albert hotel, and went down to the restaurant to have a bite and a drink. We were sat at their bar, which in my opinion is the best spot, (it’s super fun and vibrant!) I’m always very friendly with bartenders (I used to work in service myself), so I love chatting and being warm with people. When speaking with one of the bartenders, I misunderstood him, and thought he said he was from Çeşme. I said something along the lines of, “Oh wow, Mexicans (I’m Mexican) and Turkish people actually get along incredibly well!” He immediately corrected me by saying he was Greek, but then his attitude shifted dramatically. He made a gesture, walked away, and for the rest of the night he refused to serve us. He would give us looks, speak to his coworkers about it, and even after I had apologized profusely, sent other bartenders to serve us instead, as if I had said something offensive on purpose. It made the whole experience feel very uncomfortable and unnecessarily tense. It was an honest mistake, and nothing was said with bad intentions. Thankfully the other bartenders were fun, kind and professional, but the whole situation left a bad taste in the night. Shame cause the place, the music, food, atmosphere and staff is amazing!

The food was absolutely amazing — full of flavor and beautifully presented. The portions were a bit small, but every dish told a wonderful story. The spinach salad was a real surprise and definitely a must-try! The waiter, Justin, was very friendly, and his recommendations were spot on. Highly recommend this place! A bit pricey, but totally worth it.

Last night I went to Izakaya Amsterdam for the first time, last minute, and what a wonderful atmosphere, ambiance, and staff. It started when I called to see if I could still come for dinner on my own, and Kim said, "I'll organize it for you, so see you soon!" How wonderful! Then we sat at a lovely, quiet table opposite the kitchen. I loved the atmosphere and the wonderful music, and the food was heavenly🙌🏾🙏🏾. The restaurant itself has a stunning atmosphere, stylish and vibrant, making it a perfect spot for a special evening. While the prices are on the higher side, they felt reasonable given the quality of the food, the creativity behind the dishes, and the overall dining experience. A fantastic place for anyone looking to enjoy exceptional Japanese food in a beautiful setting. Highly recommended..

The manager was so rude to us. The issues we faced are below: 1. She told us to sit by the bar to wait for our table. After sitting, she told us that the table is not available for tonight and we will be eating at the bar. 2. She told us that the kitchen closes at 11pm. and we asked her to come to take our orders at 10:55. She refused and requested us to order by 10:15 maximum. 3. After discussion, she got angry and asked if we made a reservation or we are coming walking in. As she was about to kick us out. And she went to make sure that we have a reservation or not. This was not professional at all and we were very disappointed as we considered this restaurant the best in town. With this type of attitude, we don't think it will continue to be as a top spot.

One of the few Japanese restaurants in Amsterdam open for dinner on Sunday afternoons. The menu leans into modern Japanese fusion, with generally well-executed dishes and good fish quality. Some fusion elements, like the seabream, felt less convincing. The sake list is solid, and the wine selection is broader than expected. Service was smooth. Pricing is on the higher side relative to portion and complexity. Conclusion: Stylish and competent, though not every dish lands. Worth visiting if you’re after a sleek izakaya-inspired experience with a good drinks list.

Trendy atmosphere, delicious dishes, and excellent cocktails. The spicy tuna rolls were fresh and spicy, and the Wagyu skewers were full of flavor. A bit pricey for the portions, but the ambiance more than makes up for it. Perfect for an evening with friends or a date night.

A Japanese restaurant located on the ground floor of a hotel with a street view. The prices are high and the portions served are small. The food is considered delicious for lovers of Asian cuisine, such as sushi and steamed fish. For me, it was less than ordinary.

We had lunch here yesterday, just the two of us. We opted for the extensive menu and it was delicious. We sat at a table by the window, very close to the sidewalk. Kids walking by could peek in from a short distance. The restrooms are downstairs and are clean. However, the place feels a bit worn. For a place with this status and allure, it could be a bit better. Nevertheless, we had a delicious lunch and will definitely be back. We also received excellent service from Ralf, the store manager.

I visited as my freind was djing , but they do food and it was packed. but from 11am the bar opens for public great place and good service all round.

Food was quite good, nice Japanese dishes. The only thing that was lacking was the service. Our waitress was checking up on us just fine until we finished our food and wanted to eat dessert. 20 minutes no one came even though different waiters walked by us avoiding eye contact. Eventually we managed to get ahold of one and asked for the bill. Unfortunate because the desserts sounded quite good but when service isn’t up to par you lose money.

My wife and I always stop by here whenever we visit Amsterdam. Everything on the menu is delicious, even the simple edamame with coarse salt. The staff are all friendly, and we enjoy sitting at the bar and asking for recommendations. It's a great place to have a meal or just stop by for a quick bite afterward. I highly recommend it to Koreans, too.

Food is always amazing, service on this particular night was the least attentive I’ve ever had from here but that is okay I think it was because we had a late dinner. Great atmosphere and menu.

I visited Amsterdam in late June this year and the only reason I didn't write this review sooner is because I had forgotten the name of this forgettable joke of an establishment. Went there with my best friend and the host was ready to seat us (completely empty inside) but the manager took her aside to talk. The host returned to us to deny entry because we "didn't meet the dress code". Mind you we both were wearing button down shirts tucked in our dress pants wearing dress shoes. Don't waste your time here this place doesn't know how to cater to willing customers. We were prepared to spend well over €300 for sushi and drinks but apparently they're adverse to money. Absolute joke in an absolute joke of a location and also we only stopped in because we were passing by. 1 last thing... we ended up spending our money at one of your competitors and we got free drinks for lambasting you, quite hilarious 😂

Expensive, slowly, normal food, doesn’t met the expectations. The omakase menu is too expensive for the quantity of food they give, better to order a la carte. The time between the dishes are absolutely too long and we leave the restaurant still hungry. Exactly at 11.00 we ask to add some rolls because of the time and small amount of food we had but they say that the kitchen was closed at 11 (without they told us before and when they said was still 11). The service is really bad and the food is normal, not the best place to eat for sure in amsterdam

You are not very quick about the prices of things not listed on the menu, it is unacceptable that a place of this type does not have an updated menu with all the new items, and that the staff does not inform you about off-menu items. The manager is grumpy and not very attentive to the mistakes of the staff, who are totally guilty of inexperience

Really great food in a very modern and trendy restaurant. If you like exceptional Asian food and want to treat yourself to something special, this is the place for you.

Overall good experience and very professional staff. Sashimi was very fresh. Crispy rice and avocado was savory and crunchy. Dumplings were ok. For dessert, the warm madeleines were a good combo with the mochi ice cream.

Used to be a nice place to meet new people and eat good food, but the quality has now plummeted and you only encounter scum. If you are interested in detection, watch it and like the game of spot the differences. This is probably a nice tent for you.

Excellent food and service. We had the king crab roll, spicy tuna, momo roll, chilean sea bass and spicy edamame. All excellent, will definitely be back!

We ordered shrimp tempura & avocado roll and beef toban and were not specialabout them. The corn tempura, the spinach salad with shrimps, and beef tataki with onion ponzu & garlic chips rindfleisch tataki mit zwiebel ponzu & knoblauch chips were delicious.

Last Saturday we had dinner there with two other people, the next day we all got food poisoning. With a lot of stomach pain. Contacted by email and still no response. Due to poor communication and the consequence of food poisoning, 1 star.

Nice relaxed restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Music at the right level so that you can still understand each other. We found the menu a bit boring. Not really dishes that are special or distinguish themselves from other Asian fusion restaurants.

Everything was on point! Went two time during my 5 days business trip! One for corporate diner and another for personal pleasure. Would recommend and looking forward my next trip to Amsterdam!

Stylish, young, cheeky… Only the chairs are super cold (considering that in winter a chair without cushions isn't exactly comfortable) and uncomfortable.

Price-quality ratio is completely skewed here. We ordered a 7-course dinner, but the pace at which everything was served was absurd. Everything was on the table within an hour and a half, which makes you feel like you have to leave as quickly as possible so that the table is available again for the next guests. Would you like to enjoy a quiet and cozy table? Forget it. This restaurant is absolutely not recommended if you really want to enjoy a relaxing evening with good food. If you want to work through seven courses in an hour and a half for €200 per person, then Izakaya might be something for you, but they will never see us here again!

Vibrant, beautiful tent with a casual atmosphere. We had reserved a spot at the bar and the interaction with the staff was great. We were guided through the chef's tasting menu with matching wines in a very natural way. We had a very nice meal and a very nice evening. Still one star less for the quantity because we were not completely full in the end.

Although the portions are generous and you will be quite full afterwards, the culinary experience is definitely worth it. Highly recommended for lovers of authentic dishes.

The food is great, but the music is super super loud and the service, they are very kind but slow and sloppy. Took almost 25 min to get my drink and it is a kind of japanese tapas bar, so you get fill of plates pretty soon and nobody picks up. I do not recommend.

I recently had lunch at IZAKAYA Amsterdam with my partner. I chose the restaurant due to its overwhelmingly positive reviews, but as an Asian, I was truly disappointed by the experience. It felt like a stereotypical Western, cheap take on what Asian food should be, and most dishes did not justify the price tag. Food: 1 star ⭐ Every dish was more disappointing than the last. Let's start with the basics: they provided us with poorly made disposable chopsticks in what is supposed to be a luxurious, high-class restaurant. Not only were the chopsticks low-quality, but they also left splinters after being split. I've had better ones with cheap Chinese takeout. Salmon, Yellowtail, and Seabass Sashimi – 24 euro – ⭐ 1 star This dish consisted of six thinly sliced pieces of fish heavily drenched in soy sauce with a hint of yuzu aroma, topped with green onion, ginger, and loads of sesame. The flavor profile worked slightly for the seabass, reminding me of Cantonese-style steamed fish. However, it completely ruined the yellowtail and salmon. The richness and fattiness of the fish were overpowered, leaving a dish that was far too salty and dominated by soy sauce. Salmon Avocado Uramaki (20.5 euro) / Shrimp Tempura Uramaki (19.5 euro) – ⭐⭐⭐ 3 stars These were the most ordinary dishes out of all we tried. They weren’t bad, but there was nothing special about them in terms of presentation or taste. You can get the same quality at any average Western sushi shop. The rice was too wet and soft, and the rolls were somewhat sticky, but overall, these were the best dishes of the meal. Beef Toban Hibachi – 34 euro – ⭐ 1 star This dish featured six pieces of beef drenched in the same soy sauce with a hint of yuzu aroma, served on a hot plate. The outside of the meat was dry, chewy, and overly salty, while the inside was softer but tasteless. Eating it altogether resulted in a strange combination of overly salty and flavorless at the same time. The enoki mushrooms and single broccoli floret on the plate were also far too salty from being soaked in the sauce. Ironically, the single mushroom and single asparagus were the most delicious elements of the dish. Ribeye with Anticucho Sauce – 44 euro – ⭐ 1 star The anticucho sauce tasted like yellow mustard mixed with taco seasoning and was drizzled over sliced ribeye rather than being grilled with it. The steak’s texture was tender enough, but there was no caramelization or grilling that was detectable, leaving it overly saucy and salty. The beef itself was bland and lacked any depth of flavor. Tea (Jasmine/Matcha) – 5.5 euro each – ⭐⭐ 2 stars The tea was just a teabag served in a fancy teapot that didn’t appear very clean. Even after half an hour of steeping, the matcha tea still had no flavor. Service: 4 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I deducted one star because of how understaffed they were. We visited on a Saturday lunchtime, and there was only one host, two waitresses, and a bartender managing the entire floor. While the host was nice and greeted us with a big smile, that's where the positives ended. There was an excessive amount of waiting between everything due to the lack of staff. We had initially planned to order more after the first round, but given how disappointing everything was, we decided to leave. This was truly a letdown, and I would not recommend this restaurant. There are so many better options in Amsterdam for authentic, well-made Japanese food.

Very bad food, I paid almost 300 euros for 2 people. A small coke will cost you 6 euros there. All dishes were not worth the price. The 2 main courses were also not worth the price. 1 jumbo shrimp for 48 euros and a tough octopus arm for 38 euros. The service was very arrogant and there was no smile. Never again for us!!

Had a great dinner here on Christmas Day. Izakaya has never disappointed and once again it was a TOP evening. Food was again incredibly delicious; came to the table at a good pace. Atmosphere was great and the boy who served us that evening gets a 10+. Compliments for the great service. A real night out. We would love to come back again soon.

The service staff in general was attentive, however, the first impression and onwards, set the standard for the rest of the evening. I chose the Izakaya set menu (EUR85 p.p), but I dont think the food-quality-price ratio is balanced. Side note: ''Wagyu'' only means ''beef'', not the Ax grading that is popular. The dumplings were underwhelming. The spinach salad serves 2 pcs of shrimps, 1 per person. The server whom took our order, his breath reeked of bile/puke as if they had a bad incident prior to coming to our table. This put off my appetite. Then upon taking our order, I asked about the fruits served together with the dessert due to my allergy to stone fruits. He was dismissive by responding: ''Its just a little bit'' ''Oh, but your partner can eat it for you'' ''Oh don't worry about it, its fine''. An allergy is an allergy and should be taken seriously. The dishes were underwhelming and were overshadowed by the amount of Yuzu (citrus fruit) used in majority of the dishes. In the end, all we could taste was the Yuzu almost to the point of developing a Yuzu-phobia. When finishing the course menu, my partner jokingly mentioned that we are dining at Yuzu-kaya. The atmosphere was welcoming and in general, the staff were attentive. Japanese-South american fusion was a nice attempt. Not quite the Izakaya experience we expected, unfortunately would not recommend/return.

I chose the chef's omakase menu, but I didn't think the price-quality ratio was balanced. The abundance of sauces and additives unfortunately overshadowed the natural taste of the ingredients. The service was excellent: attentive without being intrusive. I found the location unusual, right next to the famous Pink Room. All in all I was disappointed with the dishes, but the service made up for it
