Fantastic concept and absolutely delicious! Kassbar is like a sushi train, but with cheese – creative, unique, and exceptionally well executed. A wide selection of different cheeses, all fresh and beautifully presented. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. A must for cheese lovers and definitely something special in Amsterdam.

Yesterday I ate at the Cheese Bar. After the third meagerly poured wine glass, I told them how high they should be poured. The solution was to argue with me to try and prove me wrong. Obviously, highly undesirable. Mint tea with 8 loose leaves. I also pointed this out. We had to argue with them. No replacement tea or more mint was offered. No extra wine was given to fill the glass properly. So they left me with the third half-empty glass. The compensation: a 20% discount on two drinks. You understand I'll never go there again. Truly absurd business practices.

We had a really great evening here! The cheese and wine were delicious. A lovely place for a date night :)

Truly: a level of hospitality I've never encountered before. We were standing outside, but they were closed. Whether I'd overlooked their opening hours, I don't know. But they let us in anyway, gave us a small cheese plate, a small glass of wine to sample, and simply because they genuinely enjoyed it—I'm a fan for life! Next time we're in Amsterdam, we'll be back for the full Monty 😍

DISCRIMINATION & EXTREMELY RUDE SERVICE!!!! One of the waiter with light blonde hair and younger (with a top bun) greeting us at the reception desk (Name: Rose). That waiter is being rude to me (asian women) just because i want to swap seats. She was very impatient and talking to me in a condescending way. I told her "can you just be nice" then she said "l don't want to serve you, please leave now" while she serves the rest like normal. I've been here before several times and only this time i encountered problems. I've only been nice to her. So disappointed and clearly bad service (only that specific waiter). I do not tolerate discrimination. Well guess what she would have treated me if i'm blonde, white and speaks Dutch. Probably treated me better. P.S. The cheese tasted great, her service (not so much).

Kaasbar is an absolute treasure of a place, so much so we came back twice during our 4-day trip to Amsterdam! On our first visit we had a reservation to try the cheese off the conveyor belt system; while the staff did explain how it works I wish they offered some suggestions. We liked the atmosphere so much we decided to come back on Christmas Day for a late fondue lunch and wow - 10/10. ​If you're in Amsterdam, this is a must-visit. Highly recommended for amazing cheese. We can't wait to come back!

My wife asked the waiter for plain water, which finally arrived after four requests. Here too, the restaurant was half empty. Fortunately, the bread was better; I only had to ask for it twice. Overall a good experience but overpriced, it is cold in the restaurant and the service is not the best. We had to grab our own menus as no one had given us any for a little while. We found the food a bit disappointed too...

Absolutely fantastic! We had a wonderful evening at the Cheese Train ;) Every cheese with its accompanying dishes was superb, as were the wines. The service was friendly and efficient :) Highly recommended for Amsterdam.

We made a reservation days in advance for 3 people at 5:00 PM. Even though we arrived on time, we were told that only space for 2 people was available in the bar area where our reservation was made, and we were asked to wait and were not seated. As a “solution,” they offered us a table instead. If we had wanted a table, we would have made the reservation for that area in the first place. We overheard staff discussing among themselves that a previous reservation had been made for 4 people but 6 people arrived, which caused this issue. This was entirely their own mistake, yet they made no effort to compensate or properly resolve the situation. I will not recommend this place to anyone I know. What was done was unfair and unprofessional.

A very nice place to eat with a good atmosphere. But if you get a table instead of a seat at the bar, the service is incredibly slow, and you can't even go and see the cheeses going by on the conveyor belt. The price is a bit high for the size of the portions.

Fantastic experience! The cheese selection on the "conveyor belt" was delicious, with perfectly paired little side dishes. The first portion of crackers was free; each additional portion cost extra. Additional sides could be ordered. There are also tables where you can order charcuterie boards or cheese fondues. Everything is a bit more expensive, but absolutely worth it for cheese lovers because of the quality and the experience.

Amazing place with huge variety of cheese! A little loud, but the food was really good

A fun way to eat. When you sit at the bar the cheese domes glide past elegantly. We were glad it wasn't too busy as the chairs were close together. There is a great choice of wine and the paring of cheese with condiments was fabulous.

The food quality and restaurant environment were good, but the staff service was truly terrible… First, we waited about 10 minutes after being seated without receiving a menu. After successfully ordering, we waited 20 minutes without getting hot water. When we told the staff, she actually added an extra bottle of water to our order, but it still never arrived… The cooked food platter was also never served after we finished eating… The service at this restaurant is far too casual, seemingly based on their mood. The main issue is that they seem to be intentionally or unintentionally overcharging, as if they think tourists won't read the bills.

We arrived late and the kitchen was already closed, there was still a good amount of artistically presented high quality cheese circulating on the band. The staff very kind and attentive. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Enjoyed an afternoon at the cheese bar. A variety of cheeses go around and you select the option you’d like based on the menu going from light to strong cheeses. The menu was incredible and I wish I was able to eat more!! Reservations are highly recommended

A bit disappointing. The whole place is not very stylish, with dirty cushions and chairs and super filthy menu cards. The cheeses are ok, but I was expecting much more from the way they would be served and the sauces/extras they would be served with. The service is great, though. I'm not sure why this place only has 4.3 stars (at the time I'm writing this review), because it was amazing! One of the top places we ate in our 3 weeks in Europe and our favorite meal in Amsterdam. It's such a fun concept. You can order fresh cheese or charcuterie at a table, made to order. Or grab a seat at the bar and pick the cheese pairing that looks best to you off the conveyer belt. We had 6 or 7 items and left full and so happy. Make a reservation if you want a guaranteed spot, it's super popular with locals and tourists.

🧀 Dutch cheese on a conveyor belt, need I say more...?! A fan from the very beginning, but hadn't been for a while & what a shame. Our hostess MITZY really made our evening, from quickly cleaning our table to tasting a drop of wine 🍷, she and her team made sure we had a fantastic time. PS. Too bad the blue bunker was sold out, oh well, we'll just have to come back then.

Great concept of a small conveyor belt to find your cheese (like in some sushi restaurants), the fondue is really different from the Savoyard one but remains excellent. Only downside: It is still quite expensive (13€ for a burrata). I recommend :)

i think it's a very unique and lovely place to go! you can try any kind of cheese there are A LOT! basically like omakase but make it CHEESE! each cheese usually come with their pairing and the menu says it all! sitting in a bar would be such an experience but i think you need a reservation! if you are confused on what to order, no worries just select the chef's pick! i choose one board and couldn't finish it all, one portion is A LOT! (the truffle, and caramel cheese something is so good,,, forgot the actual name..) ! 🧀🍷

This place is a gem. A modern cheese bar in De Pijp with more than 30 Dutch artisan cheeses gliding by on a little “cheese train.” We ordered a mixed charcuterie and cheese platter with a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape — absolutely fantastic combo. Every cheese had its own flavour, perfect pairings, and the staff knew their stuff. Super cozy vibe, great music, and a fun concept that actually delivers on quality. Prices are fair for what you get — not cheap, but worth every euro. For anyone visiting Amsterdam, this is a must-try. Our favorite spot from the whole trip.

Terrible reservation service. We had booked for a Saturday evening (the first weekend in October). The reservation was confirmed with the specification "terrace" (well, it doesn't matter, there were heated and covered terraces everywhere in Amsterdam...). When we arrived, we were surprised: "We didn't open the terrace today, so there's no room for you inside..." the receptionist told us briefly, frankly not caring. When I told him that the least he could do would have been to cancel the reservation, to let us know, whatever... even simply to write in the email the note "provided there's a terrace, we don't know yet... maybe yes, maybe no... you'll see if a table is waiting for you or not," I got a simple "sorry" before seeing him leave the room. It's really nice to find yourself without a restaurant reservation on a Saturday night in Amsterdam, where everything is packed if you want anything other than a burger or sandwich, even though you had (almost) everything planned. Maybe it's good... We'll never know!

My first time at this place and it’s incredible! Dinner with Dutch cheeses was delightful, and the bar pleasantly surprised me!

We have been here two days in the row, compere to the amount of staff and guest… it’s a joke how 0% the service have been. Empty glasses, no question about selling more food or drinks even though we wanted to have more. No attention at all.. one person with curly hair was the only one that was doing anything. We tried many times to get the staff’s attention but it seems like they avoid all the guests eye contact. Good food but won’t recommend at all.

We were also the last ones there that evening, because it was so delicious, and the pleasant conversations with the waiters were also interesting. The dessert was the absolute highlight. As a cheese enthusiast, it's obvious that this is THE restaurant to visit in Amsterdam. Very disappointed by the service, from the welcome to the checkout. Arrogant staff, friendliness optional. If you have any questions, forget about asking for recommendations. I hate posting negative reviews, but this time, my opinion is justified. An experience that could have been great turned into an unpleasant one. It's a shame because the restaurant is great, it's good, you can have a real experience, but the staff needs to be reworked.

Exciting and fresh experience! Almost cheese only menu, welcoming service and warm atmosphere. For the first visit try to get sitting on the bar - menu description is great, but seeing the plate is a part of the deal. If you do not know where to start - try number 4 (with strawberries). It worked for all our neighbors.

Service needs some improvement big time! Overall the food and cheese selection were amazing. We sat at a table at 5pm on a Wednesday evening and by the time 6:00pm rolled around the place was full understandably. However, service got worse and worse as our dining experience continued. It seemed there was no assigned waiter to each area and someone random would come by and so no one ever tended to our needs in a timely manner. We decided to order a last plate of cheese before the bill and this took so long to come we actually just asked for the check and it finally came as we were ready to leave our table. Around us other tables were not even being given water or menus after arriving 20 minutes prior. They need more people plating cheese and tending to the tables rather than just the bar which essentially is more a self serve set up. Cheese was wonderful but experience would have been better with a staffing improvement.

Such a nice place. We arrived early and got seats on the bar, picking amazing cheeses off the carousel. The staff were great fun, joking with us and telling us who would be made to clean the fondue pans. Lovely wines and atmosphere. Such a good time. We literally saw it on Instagram on the day we walked in. A short walk from the Rijksmuseum and Moco Museum.

I came across Kaasbar on Instagram. As the pictures looked stunning I decided to give it a try. I went there with my partner but it was quite different compared to the Instagram page. Points for the marketing team ⭐️ As we were being showed to our seats I noticed that it was kind of dirty and dark. Crumbs on tables although the place was well staffed and quite empty. The bathroom didn’t have soap and the cleaning chart in there was empty, sign that it wasn’t been cleaned in a long time. I didn’t complain about it but some guy did, and it took the team around half and hour to bring the soap. They bought soap from a nearby store, they didn’t have an stock for this matter. Because it was taking so long, one of the team members got impatient and started rushing the other team member that was handling the situation. Because of that there was an unpleasant atmosphere, especially since we were sitting next to the bathroom. Service was great, we were told some insights about what to order and it was fast. We ordered 5 cheeses but one of the old ones had a huge rim, it was very hard to handle around the plate. With the drinks and some additional grapes the grand total was €80 which I think is not worth it solely because of what the place looked like and the cheese was not mind blowing.

What a fantastic evening we had at De Kaas Bar in Amsterdam! As a cheese lover, this was heaven. The menu offers so many different cheeses that choosing is almost impossible, but luckily the staff was on hand with excellent advice. They are not only very friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable. The drinks menu is also excellent and perfectly complements the dishes. I highly recommend this place to anyone who truly wants to enjoy cheese and good service.

This is such an interesting bar — they present cheese on a conveyor belt right in front of the guests. The whole place is filled with a rich cheese aroma, which will definitely make cheese lovers happy. It's a very popular place, recommend make a reservation before heading. There are so many varieties to choose from on the conveyor, including many rare ones I had never seen before. We tried Chèvre, Le Petite Doruvael Truffle, and Witte van Koning, paired with a glass of Pinot Noir. Each cheese had its own unique character, and they all went really well with the wine!

I went to Amsterdam 3 times in the last 7 months and this was the only place with non-attentive staff (except for one person) I've seen in all the places I visited in the city. We had to wait a very long time for them to bring our food. Had to wait for maybe 5 minutes in front of the restroom (after using it) so they could re-fill their soap container. After asking 2 people, and them telling to 3 other people finally someone filled it so we could wash our hands. Another long wait and asking 3 people to get the bill. The same young woman who didn't care about the soap also didn't care about the bill. The same nice young man who filled the soap eventually brought the bill. I do not recommend this place.

A great experience and a lovely restaurant with good service. We quickly realized that we were too soft for some cheeses, which were even quite low on the flavor intensity scale. But a real recommendation for any cheese lover.

I'd say the place is well overpriced considering the quality and quantity of cheese you're served. Also the place could be a lot cleaner. Overall, the place is ok-ish, but a stroll through the cheese market is gonna provide a much better experience.

This restaurant had been on our wish list for a long time. We don't live near either Cheese Bar Amsterdam or Cheese Bar Utrecht. We chose Amsterdam and were incredibly pleasantly surprised. We arrived half an hour earlier than our reservation, and there was already a table, which was great! We received a very friendly welcome and were assigned a spot at the bar with the cheese train (which we had reserved in advance). The concept and process were explained clearly and calmly. Drinks were brought promptly, and if a cheese we wanted wasn't on the cheese train, we could order it, and it was made for us. Not a single cheese we tried was disappointing! We especially loved the brie with truffle and "fransje" (a type of French cheese). It was nice to order grapes and nuts for a change. In total, the two of us ordered six cheeses, two side dishes (grapes and nuts), and one extra piece of toast. Really enjoyed this fun concept, the delicious food and the friendly staff!

The date butter with the sourdough bread is delicious. We tried brokkel oplegkaas cheese for the first time and loved it. It was drisseled with an apple syrup reduction. We also ordered a sampling of sausages. Everything we ate was excellent. Since it's only a block from the Heineken brewery we enjoyed cold Heineken with our food.

Lovely way to taste Dutch cheeses. They have a wonderful selection with a wide range of flavors, textures, and accompaniments. The staff is kind and helpful, happy to help pair wine and cheese. The conveyor belt is so fun- love eating with your eyes and having something so uniquely interactive. They did a fantastic job with my gluten allergy (celiac). Everything is well thought out. Walked in w a reservation and they looked at me like I was an alien. Very rude staff and not busy. Poor cheese selection and a lot was melted. Went here last winter and it was great so I was looking forward to returning. The atmosphere was hostile. I left. It wasn’t busy and the staff had no reason to act like that.

Very good idea for cheese lovers! First seconds can be difficult due to smell of the cheeses,but you will not smell anything few minutes later. You need to make a reservation for bar. Fondue is very big,ask half portion even for 2 person. If you are not expert about the cheeses,better to order mix plates.

Amazing concept. About 40 cheeses to pick from. Four varieties - white, red, hard, blue. Loved the blue and red. Paired with nibbles. Very friendly service. Would like to return if I have time. Highly recommend to my fellow Canadian foodies if you are here.

Genius! The cheese bar is the best experience. The menu boasts over 25 cheeses excellently paired with condiments/complimentary flavours (even honeycomb - trust us, it works!). The Reisling worked perfectly for all the cheeses we ate. The fig bread is a game changer, I will be having this as a permanent fixture on any cheese board I have in the future. The service was excellent and the venue itself is gorgeous. Accessible venue however toilets are a little tight for space. We enjoyed the rest of our wine outside after our reservation had closed. Nice place with a huge variety of cheese made in the Netherlands. Waiters gladly help you with a choice of cheeses and wines that fit together best. The ones we got were delicious and absolutely fit our taste. If you want to sit at the cheese trail at the bar, I'd recommend asking about the seats there explicitly in advance upon making a reservation.

What do mice and cats have in common? Cheese, of course. So after "Sam and Julia" and Katten Cabinet the perfect end to a perfect day could only be called Kaasbar. Of course we said: "cheese", we smiled the whole time we were there and enjoyed the Kaasbar experience with a glass of white wine. And for next time we have already put fondue on the list.
