We chose a tasting menu with 16 different cheeses divided between soft cheeses, hard cheeses, strong cheeses and blue cheeses. The most daring of us got through them all and those of us who were more shy got through 3 types of cheese. We booked a table on the day itself where we mentioned when booking that we did not want meat or alcohol, which was taken into account. Really worth a visit

Sushi rolls with cheese! Really fun way to try Dutch cheeses! The staff was nice, but it was very difficult to get their attention for orders. When we asked for the bill, they chose to first prepare our seats for the next group before we had to pay for ours. In this way, it was a bit like the customers were also treated on a conveyor belt!

First, the positives: The cheese was absolutely delicious, and our server, Monika, really went out of her way to make our experience enjoyable. The absolute disaster was that the three of us were crammed into a two-person table, which was really difficult with just two people ordering cheese and a fondue. Furthermore, the staff in the background were completely overwhelmed, so orders were constantly being forgotten or delivered incorrectly. The highlight of the whole ordeal was being sold a perfectly ordinary baguette as sourdough bread, which we had received just five minutes earlier. At least the discussion eventually led to a full refund. If I ever come back here, it will only be with a pre-reserved spot at the cheese counter, which unfortunately didn't work out for us (but that was our fault). However, the cheese alone is worth the trip!

Disappointing experience. We visited on a Friday evening (7:30–9:30 p.m.) with another couple and spent a considerable amount on the cheese, wines, and ports, expecting a premium experience. Instead, the rotating cheese bar was about 70% empty for most of the evening and was rarely restocked. Very few cheeses were served, and they disappeared immediately. The remaining selection looked tired, and most of the cheeses weren’t particularly special. Although the staff were friendly when we arrived, the service was poor. We had to repeatedly remind staff about our drink orders and wave someone down whenever we needed anything. To end on a positive note, one server recommended an excellent red port to pair with the blue cheese, and the orange wine was delicious. Unfortunately, those highlights weren’t enough to make up for the overall experience. Especially for the prices they charge, we expected much more. We were really looking forward to this experience, but it simply didn’t deliver :(

I had reserved a table, which initially went smoothly. This evening I went to Kaasbar for cheese and ordered a truffle fondue. Unfortunately, the first fondue was served incorrectly, as the truffle was missing. Furthermore, the staff seemed clearly overwhelmed throughout the entire evening. I found the discussion about how they tried to explain to me that a white bread was sourdough particularly unprofessional. Instead of simply admitting their mistake, they argued about it, which made the service unnecessarily unpleasant. What a shame...

Probably the most unique cheese experience I’ve ever had. You can sit at the bar and select what you like or order off the menu. They do get busy, so I reservation is highly recommend.

Very nice experience. I ate here twice in one week. On Sunday, the service and attention were poor: a 25-minute wait for drinks and not much variety of cheeses on the bar. We could order à la carte, but the crackers alone took fifteen minutes… On Tuesday, the service and attention were top-notch, with recommendations for drinks to pair with the cheeses. That blue cheese ice cream is truly an experience you have to try!

Really disappointed in the cheese conveyor belt experience. The same items circled for the 90 minutes we were there with barely any new items added. We did not receive a dish we ordered. Very slow and inattentive service

I’m not the biggest cheese guy. And when my friends who live here said we were going to a sushi train styled cheese bar I was a little skeptical. But I said to myself, “Hey, when in Amsterdam do as they do.” So I did…..and I loved it!! My girlfriend is a huge lover of all things cheese, so she was in cheese heaven. The place opened at 3pm and by 3.10pm the place was pumping!! If you love cheese and even if you don’t, come here cos it is a must do thing in Amsterdam 😁👍

Disappointing experience – not as advertised. Unfortunately, I cannot leave a good review because my experience here was not great. I decided to visit after seeing a post on Instagram, as I was curious to try their wonderful selection of Netherlands cheeses.When we arrived, the host—a young lady who was not very friendly—seated us at the cheese carousel and quickly explained how it works. We were told we could choose from 23 kinds of cheese. Unfortunately, they did not even have half of that variety available on the carousel. I assumed they would replenish the selection little by little, but they never did. Instead, the carousel mostly just had grapes, olives, and nuts. To make matters worse, the wine list was very poor, offering only low-quality options.I expected much more based on their social media, but the actual experience was a letdown.

Everything was delicious, but quite expensive. There were plenty of staff, but they were often preoccupied with themselves or each other. This resulted in enormous delays in responding to orders.

We tried the Cheese Train; the service was poor, the cheeses were good but overpriced (up to €13.50 for a burrata) for small portions. The cheese boards are also excessive (6 cheeses for €55 and 8 cheeses for €75). If you're on Instagram, go take a picture, but otherwise, there's no point in going. Buy some artisanal cheeses at the market and a good bottle of wine, sit down, and enjoy.

For my wife's 30th birthday, I had reserved a table for two at the Cheesetrain in advance. In the reservation, I specifically mentioned that it was her 30th birthday and that we would like a quiet table, as I wanted to surprise her and we wanted to spend a relaxed evening enjoying good food and pleasant conversation. I would like to commend the fact that we were given a table at the very end of the Cheesetrain. We really liked this area; it perfectly matched our idea of ​​a quiet seating area. However, I was disappointed that the birthday was not acknowledged at all. I'm not asking for free food or drinks. But if a guest mentions a special occasion when making a reservation, a warm "Happy Birthday" or a short congratulation should at least be possible. That would have added a personal touch to the evening and would have been a nice gesture. The cheese was okay overall, but it didn't completely win me over. Considering the prices, I'm rather skeptical about the value for money. The service also didn't strike me as particularly high-quality. Behind the bar, the staff were eating, some employees were standing around for extended periods, and dirty dishes were being loaded into the dishwasher quite noisily. Especially in a restaurant that aims to offer a special experience, this significantly detracted from the atmosphere. Overall, the visit was okay, but unfortunately, the expectations raised by the concept and the prices weren't fully met.

We recently dined at Kaasbar Amsterdam, and it was a wonderful experience. The concept with the cheeses passing by on the cheese train is original and makes the evening truly special. The selection of Dutch cheeses is extensive and of high quality, with surprising and flavorful pairings of accompaniments, wines, and beers. Wow! What a great experience! We were skeptical at the beginning, maybe it's a tourist trap or maybe we will pay 100 euro and remain hungry. However, it was one of our best experiences in Amsterdam. The selection of cheese is amazing and every cheese comes with a pairing that leaves you craving for more. It is simply art what they're doing there. The stuff was polite and friendly. Yes it's not very cheap but for me it was worth the price. Definitely come again.

Good way to try mostly Dutch cheese. We did spot some inconsistent sizing and ingredients on some plates. Our pastrami was 1/3 fat which is more than expected. Good place to sit and chat. Bar stools are padded and comfortable. Staff helpful by Dutch standards.

Great experience. We went for the 6 cheeses set menu and seperate charcuterie board. A super meal and enough for 2. This isn't a super posh venue, but a very popular one - and it's easy to say why. A must experience if you like cheese.

This has been the single tasting greatest experience in my entire cheese loving life ! Defo make a res to sit at the bar to watch the cheese train in action! The menu is divided by soft red hard and bleu cheeses organised from lightest to strongest. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly enough, they are busy and there is certainly a time limit. The cheese were paired thoughtfully with sauces jams nuts etc. There was an amuse bouche on a pofferjet with a glass of cava for an additional fee that was a delight ! We tried a number of soft cows cheese a lovely camembert with apple and gingerbread and the fig bread is a delight! Would be back next time im in ams!

Consider booking if you want to sit at the bar in front of the conveyor belt/cheese river. Such a fun experience! I would recommend this completely! We didn't try a ton of things, but what we did try was great! The service was awesome, as well, and really helpful with explaining how it works. This was such a unique dining experience. You get 2 hours at the bar, which was a generous amount of time and we didn't feel rushed at all. My only complaint would be, there were times when the same things kept coming around again and again, there were certain numbers we never ended up seeing the whole time we were there and at times there were huge gaps of about 10 plates missing.

Fantastic experience at Kaasbar! We ordered a cheese board with six cheeses, and the second-to-last one (a two-year-old Gouda) was absolutely divine! The charcuterie board is also well worth ordering. All of this is enough for three people! However, it was incredibly hot inside.

Wow what an experience. My friend and I came here for a little girls night out after passing by it many times, and it was perfect for the occasion. We made a reservation and got to sit right by the conveyor belt. The menu has like 30 DIFFERENT TYPES OF CHEESE with fruit/meat pairings, and yes they might sound odd at first read, but let me tell you, each one was amazing. My favourites were 18 and 28. We also had port to go with it and it was just delightful. Like we were having dessert. Would 100% return for another girls night!

The Baskin Robbins of cheese. 32 cheeses!!! We got a sampler of 5 which was plenty for 2 people for a cheese dinner. Plus we got the smoked beef which was like beef lox not BBQ or Jerry. The accompaniments were perfect and there's a good wine list. A great way to try Dutch cheeses

Interesting concept and definitely worth trying at least once, I’d recommend sitting by the bar for the full experience. That portion sizes didn’t quite work for me. The cheese servings were quite large and very filling, which meant I couldn’t try as many dishes as I would have liked. The staff were lovely and helpful. The atmosphere is great overall, but be prepared for a strong cheese smell, it’s noticeable at first, though you do get used to it.

Yesterday I ate at the Cheese Bar. After the third meagerly poured wine glass, I told them how high they should be poured. The solution was to argue with me to try and prove me wrong. Obviously, highly undesirable. Mint tea with 8 loose leaves. I also pointed this out. We had to argue with them. No replacement tea or more mint was offered. No extra wine was given to fill the glass properly. So they left me with the third half-empty glass. The compensation: a 20% discount on two drinks. You understand I'll never go there again. Truly absurd business practices.

Truly: a level of hospitality I've never encountered before. We were standing outside, but they were closed. Whether I'd overlooked their opening hours, I don't know. But they let us in anyway, gave us a small cheese plate, a small glass of wine to sample, and simply because they genuinely enjoyed it—I'm a fan for life! DISCRIMINATION & EXTREMELY RUDE SERVICE!!!! One of the waiter with light blonde hair and younger (with a top bun) greeting us at the reception desk (Name: Rose). That waiter is being rude to me (asian women) just because i want to swap seats. She was very impatient and talking to me in a condescending way. I told her "can you just be nice" then she said "l don't want to serve you, please leave now" while she serves the rest like normal. I've been here before several times and only this time i encountered problems. I've only been nice to her. So disappointed and clearly bad service (only that specific waiter). I do not tolerate discrimination. Well guess what she would have treated me if i'm blonde, white and speaks Dutch. Probably treated me better. P.S. The cheese tasted great, her service (not so much).

Kaasbar is an absolute treasure of a place, so much so we came back twice during our 4-day trip to Amsterdam! On our first visit we had a reservation to try the cheese off the conveyor belt system; while the staff did explain how it works I wish they offered some suggestions. We liked the atmosphere so much we decided to come back on Christmas Day for a late fondue lunch and wow - 10/10. ​If you're in Amsterdam, this is a must-visit. Highly recommended for amazing cheese. We made a reservation days in advance for 3 people at 5:00 PM. Even though we arrived on time, we were told that only space for 2 people was available in the bar area where our reservation was made, and we were asked to wait and were not seated. As a “solution,” they offered us a table instead. If we had wanted a table, we would have made the reservation for that area in the first place. We overheard staff discussing among themselves that a previous reservation had been made for 4 people but 6 people arrived, which caused this issue. This was entirely their own mistake, yet they made no effort to compensate or properly resolve the situation. I will not recommend this place to anyone I know. What was done was unfair and unprofessional.

A fun way to eat. When you sit at the bar the cheese domes glide past elegantly. We were glad it wasn't too busy as the chairs were close together. There is a great choice of wine and the paring of cheese with condiments was fabulous.

The food quality and restaurant environment were good, but the staff service was truly terrible… First, we waited about 10 minutes after being seated without receiving a menu. After successfully ordering, we waited 20 minutes without getting hot water. When we told the staff, she actually added an extra bottle of water to our order, but it still never arrived… The cooked food platter was also never served after we finished eating… The service at this restaurant is far too casual, seemingly based on their mood. The main issue is that they seem to be intentionally or unintentionally overcharging, as if they think tourists won't read the bills.

This is an absolute must if you are in Amsterdam. The selection was fantastic. Even did a little dessert. The service was good and it was crazy busy. Get a reservation ASAP.
