This was our third visit, and we would definitely come back. Absolutely the best restaurant with highly recommended and delicious cheese. A dream for every cheese lover.

My family and I had a really unforgettable experience at the Kaasbar. The staff were amazing, so attentive and informative even though they seemed to be booked out and running around the place.

Huge variety of only Dutch cheeses. My favourite was number 32. It was a combination of blue cheese, pomegranate seeds, and pistachio cream. It was to die for. They were playing Brazilian bossa nova in the background which was lovely. The experience of picking the cheese from the cheese train is quite fun, despite being a bit tight with strangers sitting right next to you and bumping elbows quite frequently! Haha Reason for three stars is that the staff member who is in charge of the bookings and sitting us down was quite rude and unwelcoming. Another small criticism is that I noticed that the cheese portions on the cheese train vary in size even if it’s the same cheese. I saw 2 portions of the same cheese right next to each other quite a few times, and one was significantly chunkier than the other. Just for the restaurant to keep in mind.

It's nice to stand in the window, looking at the flower market across the street and the tourists passing by. During the lockdown period (which wasn't the case here in the Netherlands), it was definitely better, as there were no tourists.

A fantastic Dutch cheese experience! 🧀🇳🇱 Kaase Bar is a little gem, conveniently located just around the corner from the Heineken factory. The concept is fantastic: 32 different cheeses, carefully selected and served from the youngest and freshest to the most mature and intense. Suus and Julia took amazingly good care of us. We started with a traditional Dutch Kopstootje — Jenever and Heineken enjoyed together in parallel — before embarking on our cheese journey. From the deliciously white and creamy cheese to numbers 24 and 32, every cheese had its own personality, flavour and texture. And believe me, coming from Switzerland — the land of cheese — I do not say this lightly: this was a real treat! I have been visiting Amsterdam every year since 1992, and it is always nice to discover something new. Kaase Bar is definitely one of my latest discoveries. Come and taste the real taste of Holland! 🧀🍺🥃

The cheeses are very good, the prices are medium to high; if you're not very hungry, it'll be about 60 euros for two people, but if you start ordering a lot of dishes, it can end up costing a fortune.

Great cheese, bit expensive but it's a great way to taste different cheeses paired with some interesting flavours and with other picky bits and nice wines/beer. Lots of wine options. The only thing I would say is that the service is slow at times, mostly because it's busy in there. Recommend sitting at the bar with the conveyor belt of cheese 🧀

The Kaasbar has a very fun and original concept: all kinds of different cheeses pass by the bar on a conveyor belt. This is definitely recommended for cheese lovers! The two of us tried five different cheeses, of which the Wals was our favorite.

We were a group of four at Running Cheese and tried some of the delicacies. It was delicious, especially the combinations with syrup, preserved fruit, or dark chocolate. Even though the portions seemed small and sometimes quite expensive at first, we ended up going home very full and satisfied, having spent €40 per person.

I’d visited here 2 years ago and loved it. But this time it was hotter in the restaurant than outside and all the cheese in the cloches were sweating or melted. Still love the conveyor belt idea for cheese but execution need improvement in these summer months.

This is a very stylish and unique place. They have a great variety of cheeses, and everything we tried was delicious. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, although there was one person who came across as a little intimidating and condescending. They told us the counter seats were fully booked and made us sit near the entrance. However, right after that, they seated local customers who didn't have a reservation at the counter. I felt clear discrimination against Asians. I do not recommend this place.

A lovely place for cheese lovers. They have a bar area with a conveyor belt where you can choose from a variety of dishes. We preferred table service, having two children. Friendly and helpful staff, delicious cheeses, and a wonderful experience.

We loved it. Great selection of 32 cheeses in the cheese train ranging from mild to very mature. Service and atmosphere were excellent. Reservation is recommended but not necessary if you go during the week. Different story for the weekend. Each plate is 5-10€.

In good weather, the terrace is recommended due to the beautiful view over the canal and the low noise level. The service is friendly and attentive, the interior witty, and the cheeses excellent (although we found the portions a bit modest).

It's not air-conditioned. The doors were open and a small fan unfortunately wasn't enough.

All the cheese riding on the band in front of you is like a TV show and somehow mesmerizing. Couldn't try them all but I'll definitely be back!

We had such a wonderful experience at Kaasbar! The variety of cheeses was fantastic, and everything we tried was delicious. I also really enjoyed the pink grapefruit soda—it was refreshing and a perfect addition to the experience. A very special thank you to Monica, who was incredibly warm, kind, and welcoming. She even gave a little gift to my kids, which was such a thoughtful and lovely gesture. Her kindness made our visit feel extra special. Great cheese, great atmosphere, and wonderful hospitality. We really enjoyed our time here and would happily come back!

Went around 17:00 and found the place really nice-looking and clean. It was not too busy at first, but the cheese train at the bar filled up as time passed, while the tables still had space. I tried a seasonal special first, which was really nice, then shared around eight cheese plates with my partner. We followed the suggested order from left to right, moving from milder to stronger cheeses. Even if you sit at the bar, you can order any plate you want if you do not see it passing by. We ended with a waiter’s recommendation, which was one of the best cheeses I have tasted. Who knew cheese could be so fulfilling?

We chose a tasting menu with 16 different cheeses divided between soft cheeses, hard cheeses, strong cheeses and blue cheeses. The most daring of us got through them all and those of us who were more shy got through 3 types of cheese. We booked a table on the day itself where we mentioned when booking that we did not want meat or alcohol, which was taken into account. Really worth a visit

Sushi rolls with cheese! Really fun way to try Dutch cheeses! The staff was nice, but it was very difficult to get their attention for orders. When we asked for the bill, they chose to first prepare our seats for the next group before we had to pay for ours. In this way, it was a bit like the customers were also treated on a conveyor belt!

First, the positives: The cheese was absolutely delicious, and our server, Monika, really went out of her way to make our experience enjoyable. The absolute disaster was that the three of us were crammed into a two-person table, which was really difficult with just two people ordering cheese and a fondue. Furthermore, the staff in the background were completely overwhelmed, so orders were constantly being forgotten or delivered incorrectly. The highlight of the whole ordeal was being sold a perfectly ordinary baguette as sourdough bread, which we had received just five minutes earlier. At least the discussion eventually led to a full refund. If I ever come back here, it will only be with a pre-reserved spot at the cheese counter, which unfortunately didn't work out for us (but that was our fault). However, the cheese alone is worth the trip!

Disappointing experience. We visited on a Friday evening (7:30–9:30 p.m.) with another couple and spent a considerable amount on the cheese, wines, and ports, expecting a premium experience. Instead, the rotating cheese bar was about 70% empty for most of the evening and was rarely restocked. Very few cheeses were served, and they disappeared immediately. The remaining selection looked tired, and most of the cheeses weren’t particularly special. Although the staff were friendly when we arrived, the service was poor. We had to repeatedly remind staff about our drink orders and wave someone down whenever we needed anything. To end on a positive note, one server recommended an excellent red port to pair with the blue cheese, and the orange wine was delicious. Unfortunately, those highlights weren’t enough to make up for the overall experience. Especially for the prices they charge, we expected much more. We were really looking forward to this experience, but it simply didn’t deliver :(

I had reserved a table, which initially went smoothly. This evening I went to Kaasbar for cheese and ordered a truffle fondue. Unfortunately, the first fondue was served incorrectly, as the truffle was missing. Furthermore, the staff seemed clearly overwhelmed throughout the entire evening. I found the discussion about how they tried to explain to me that a white bread was sourdough particularly unprofessional. Instead of simply admitting their mistake, they argued about it, which made the service unnecessarily unpleasant. What a shame...

Probably the most unique cheese experience I’ve ever had. You can sit at the bar and select what you like or order off the menu. They do get busy, so I reservation is highly recommend.

Very nice experience. I ate here twice in one week. On Sunday, the service and attention were poor: a 25-minute wait for drinks and not much variety of cheeses on the bar. We could order à la carte, but the crackers alone took fifteen minutes… On Tuesday, the service and attention were top-notch, with recommendations for drinks to pair with the cheeses. That blue cheese ice cream is truly an experience you have to try!

This place really surprised us, the cheeses are wonderful and the charm of the little train passing by with the cheese tasting options is marvelous. Suggestion #4 and #6... delicious.

Really disappointed in the cheese conveyor belt experience. The same items circled for the 90 minutes we were there with barely any new items added. We did not receive a dish we ordered. Very slow and inattentive service

I’m not the biggest cheese guy. And when my friends who live here said we were going to a sushi train styled cheese bar I was a little skeptical. But I said to myself, “Hey, when in Amsterdam do as they do.” So I did…..and I loved it!! My girlfriend is a huge lover of all things cheese, so she was in cheese heaven. The place opened at 3pm and by 3.10pm the place was pumping!! If you love cheese and even if you don’t, come here cos it is a must do thing in Amsterdam 😁👍

Disappointing experience – not as advertised. Unfortunately, I cannot leave a good review because my experience here was not great. I decided to visit after seeing a post on Instagram, as I was curious to try their wonderful selection of Netherlands cheeses.When we arrived, the host—a young lady who was not very friendly—seated us at the cheese carousel and quickly explained how it works. We were told we could choose from 23 kinds of cheese. Unfortunately, they did not even have half of that variety available on the carousel. I assumed they would replenish the selection little by little, but they never did. Instead, the carousel mostly just had grapes, olives, and nuts. To make matters worse, the wine list was very poor, offering only low-quality options.I expected much more based on their social media, but the actual experience was a letdown.

Everything was delicious, but quite expensive. There were plenty of staff, but they were often preoccupied with themselves or each other. This resulted in enormous delays in responding to orders.

We tried the Cheese Train; the service was poor, the cheeses were good but overpriced (up to €13.50 for a burrata) for small portions. The cheese boards are also excessive (6 cheeses for €55 and 8 cheeses for €75). If you're on Instagram, go take a picture, but otherwise, there's no point in going. Buy some artisanal cheeses at the market and a good bottle of wine, sit down, and enjoy.

For my wife's 30th birthday, I had reserved a table for two at the Cheesetrain in advance. In the reservation, I specifically mentioned that it was her 30th birthday and that we would like a quiet table, as I wanted to surprise her and we wanted to spend a relaxed evening enjoying good food and pleasant conversation. I would like to commend the fact that we were given a table at the very end of the Cheesetrain. We really liked this area; it perfectly matched our idea of ​​a quiet seating area. However, I was disappointed that the birthday was not acknowledged at all. I'm not asking for free food or drinks. But if a guest mentions a special occasion when making a reservation, a warm "Happy Birthday" or a short congratulation should at least be possible. That would have added a personal touch to the evening and would have been a nice gesture. The cheese was okay overall, but it didn't completely win me over. Considering the prices, I'm rather skeptical about the value for money. The service also didn't strike me as particularly high-quality. Behind the bar, the staff were eating, some employees were standing around for extended periods, and dirty dishes were being loaded into the dishwasher quite noisily. Especially in a restaurant that aims to offer a special experience, this significantly detracted from the atmosphere. Overall, the visit was okay, but unfortunately, the expectations raised by the concept and the prices weren't fully met.

Wow! What a great experience! We were skeptical at the beginning, maybe it's a tourist trap or maybe we will pay 100 euro and remain hungry. However, it was one of our best experiences in Amsterdam. The selection of cheese is amazing and every cheese comes with a pairing that leaves you craving for more. It is simply art what they're doing there. The stuff was polite and friendly. Yes it's not very cheap but for me it was worth the price. Definitely come again.

Good way to try mostly Dutch cheese. We did spot some inconsistent sizing and ingredients on some plates. Our pastrami was 1/3 fat which is more than expected. Good place to sit and chat. Bar stools are padded and comfortable. Staff helpful by Dutch standards.

What a great experience for cheese lovers! The different cheeses with their toppings were just so good. We were sitting at the bar for the cheese train and had so much fun. The staff was very friendly, drinks yummy. We even had a cheese cake for dessert. Can really recommend.

Amazing experience, however we were offered water at the start and assumed it was complimentary. Maybe it was our bad but we thought it would just be a free glass of tap water however we were given a bottle and charged 6.50 euros. Lovely staff and food genuinely amazing all round just a little disappointed with that as we were on a budget. Would throughly recommend still despite that.

She suggested some excellent cheeses; she really knows her stuff! ​If you like figs, the fig bread is a great addition, though the cheese is fantastic on its own too. Highly recommended!

Great experience. We went for the 6 cheeses set menu and seperate charcuterie board. A super meal and enough for 2. This isn't a super posh venue, but a very popular one - and it's easy to say why. A must experience if you like cheese.

The cheese domes are numbered, and the menu provides information about each cheese. A complimentary portion of crackers is served with the cheese, and various other accompaniments, such as grapes, fig bread, or pastrami, can be ordered separately. Cheese ! This is an experience you don’t want to pass up. The menu explains the cheeses and what they are paired with. Each cheese is its own price. Pick up what you want as they go by on the conveyor line. We loved all of them it was so fun, so good and was a great time.

This has been the single tasting greatest experience in my entire cheese loving life ! Defo make a res to sit at the bar to watch the cheese train in action! The menu is divided by soft red hard and bleu cheeses organised from lightest to strongest. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly enough, they are busy and there is certainly a time limit. The cheese were paired thoughtfully with sauces jams nuts etc. There was an amuse bouche on a pofferjet with a glass of cava for an additional fee that was a delight ! We tried a number of soft cows cheese a lovely camembert with apple and gingerbread and the fig bread is a delight! Would be back next time im in ams!

Consider booking if you want to sit at the bar in front of the conveyor belt/cheese river. Around 7 pm, they get a bit busier, so the service was a little slow; we had to ask twice for a particular cheese and two glasses of water in addition to bread. Which is pretty much a basic requirement when enjoying cheese. Nice atmosphere, courteous staff, and reasonable prices for this type of restaurant.

Such a fun experience! I would recommend this completely! We didn't try a ton of things, but what we did try was great! The service was awesome, as well, and really helpful with explaining how it works. This was such a unique dining experience. You get 2 hours at the bar, which was a generous amount of time and we didn't feel rushed at all. My only complaint would be, there were times when the same things kept coming around again and again, there were certain numbers we never ended up seeing the whole time we were there and at times there were huge gaps of about 10 plates missing.

Fantastic experience at Kaasbar! We ordered a cheese board with six cheeses, and the second-to-last one (a two-year-old Gouda) was absolutely divine! The charcuterie board is also well worth ordering. All of this is enough for three people! However, it was incredibly hot inside.

This experience was something unique, where you get to relax in a cool, vibey restaurant and try different cheese combinations. The options are quite expensive, so keep that in mind, but if you want to have a cheese themed evening and explore some interesting varieties, it is definitely worth checking out. One thing that was a bit less exciting was that many of the options never appeared, and the same cheeses seemed to repeat in a loop. However, you can still order specific cheeses if you ask the waitress. I highly recommend you booking this experience in advance as the restaurant can get full.
