We had a party at Karakter to celebrate life and love. And thanks to them, it was a complete success. We had a conversation beforehand with open and honest advice from Laura, and always had pleasant and quick contact. The evening itself was simply fantastic. Delicious dishes, friendly and welcoming staff, everyone wanted for nothing. All we had to do that evening was enjoy ourselves, and we could do that right up to the very end. Laura and her lovely team, thank you so much for an unforgettable evening!

Nice location for a snack and a drink.

Lovely restaurant, only a shame that on top of the €5.40, we also had to pay €7.35 for a bottle of still water! It's ridiculous. The two of us ordered a glass of wine. We also wanted a bottle of water to quench our thirst. The waiter said, "I'll put a bottle on the table," as if that were a courtesy. €7.35 on the bill!

Last weekend we organized a drinks reception in the garden room and were thrilled with how well it was organized! They really considered my wishes and preferences beforehand, and the afternoon itself was fantastic in terms of atmosphere, drinks, snacks, and service :-)!

I celebrated my 30th birthday at Karakter, and it was truly an unforgettable evening! The communication beforehand was incredibly quick and friendly, and Laura was very helpful in accommodating my wishes. I was able to let go of everything that evening. It was well-organized, and my compliments to the bar staff that evening! They kept checking in to see if everything was to my liking and if I needed or missed anything. Both were super friendly, and the drinks were kept a close eye on so no one was left without (cold) drinks. The venue was very cozy, and I was given the freedom to decorate as I pleased. The communication afterward regarding payment of the invoice also went very smoothly. They respond quickly! I highly recommend this venue and will definitely be back in the future! Thank you so much.

Beste Karakter, Wat jullie afgelopen vrijdag hebben geflikt, is niets minder dan een culinair misdrijf. Ik bestel een broodje carpaccio – een klassieker, een icoon, een heilig gerecht – en wat vind ik tot mijn afgrijzen tussen de lagen rund en rucola? Komkommer. Ja, dat klopt. Komkommer. Alsof iemand in een opwelling dacht: “Weet je wat dit sappige plakje ossenhaas mist? Een smaakloze, waterige schijf ellende!” Laat me duidelijk zijn: ik heb geen subtiele afkeer van komkommer. Nee. Ik heb een diepgewortelde, oprecht existentiële hekel aan dat laffe stuk tuinafval. Het is niet eens dat ik het niet lekker vind – ik ervaar het als een aanval. Op mijn smaakpapillen, op mijn vertrouwen in de broodjesbranche, en op mijn recht op voedselveiligheid (want dit voelde níét veilig). En het stond nergens. Maar ik verwacht wel dat jullie in de toekomst: • Komkommer vermelden als jullie het op een broodje mikken. • Of, beter nog, het gewoon weglaten. I celebrated my 65th birthday at Karakter. From the first contact with Laura to the fantastic party (that afternoon provided by Jelle) everything was perfectly taken care of. Last Saturday evening we celebrated our anniversary party at Karakter. What an excellent choice to throw a party. A great atmosphere at a fantastic location. Delicious snacks provided by very friendly staff who thought along with us. Also from the invited guests only received positive feedback. Despite the fact that the party was planned in the restaurant, we were able to celebrate the party outside due to the great weather. This was also no problem for the staff. Karakter is therefore highly recommended if you want to throw an evening party.

Getting lost on a Friday afternoon and then ending up here, the old-fashioned Amsterdam city hustle and bustle, that's what it was all about. Food deliciously fresh, finally a satay with a real satay sauce, instead of peanut sauce. Delicious fries. Tuna salad deliciously supplemented with vegetables.

Restaurant Karakter is the ideal location to throw a party! The attractive and cozy space provides the perfect ambiance, where you immediately feel at ease. In addition, there is plenty of parking nearby, making it easy for everyone to get there. The service was great; the staff clearly tried their best, and I didn't see anyone with empty glasses. The snacks were also really good, tasty and well presented. In short, a great experience and definitely recommended for those looking for a nice place for a party!

We went for a nice coffee and a pastry. My husband has apple pie and I have a progress pastry. When they put it on the table I could already see it, a collapsed pastry with the whipped cream hard and the hazelnut soft. The staff thought it wasn't too bad, but the solution was a new program, but still frozen. That didn't really seem like THE solution to me. Then I would have to wait half an hour for it to thaw, but according to the owner they had offered a solution. She did admit that she had put the progress in the refrigerator herself and that it did not look old at the time. It's not about how old it looks, it's about how old it was. She just shouldn't have served the progress

We went for breakfast and it was absolutely excellent! It consisted of a board with a small pot of yoghurt sprinkled with granola and huge blueberries.; a massive grainy whole meal bun filled with ham, cheese and cucumber/salad with a tasty dressing; a croissant with jam and accompanied by a chilled glass of fresh orange juice. There was an option to add a fried egg for 1€ supplement. We ordered coffee and tea as well and had a feast which lasted us all day! Very good value, beautifully fresh and attractively presented and friendly staff. Will certainly return next time we’re in Tilburg.

I've had lunch here a few times and high tea a few times. The food and service are always good. I also ordered food there once, but it was disappointing, there were a few short hairs in it.

We have enjoyed coming to Karakter for years. We celebrated my mother's 70th birthday drinks at Karakter in the conservatory. We had nice email contact in advance regarding our wishes, on the day itself everything went as agreed and a big plus for the service. The staff at Karakter are professional and spontaneous people with passion and pleasure for the catering industry.

We organized a company drink at Karakter on a Saturday afternoon for approximately 80 people. The staff was friendly and the location cozy, bright and spacious.

Op een zaterdag geluncht met het hele gezin. Druk en alle tafels bezet. Buiten zitten onder de verwarming was zeker geen optie met dit weer. Binnen was het lekker warm. Mijn vrouw en ik hebben de Plank genomen, de kinderen de Oosterse kipsaté en een Boeren uitsmijter. Gezellig zo met zijn allen, uiteindelijk is het gezelschap het belangrijkste. En als dan iedereen ook nog eens tevreden is over het eten hebben we er weer een mooie middag van gemaakt. Het afrekenen had wel wat voeten in de aarde. Waarschijnlijk had dat met de drukte te maken.

On the occasion of our dear mother's 75th birthday, we organized a surprise party for her last weekend. I had very nice contact with Laura in the preliminary phase. The atmosphere was fantastic, the right table settings, the fireplace, the lighting. As if we were sitting together in a large warm living room. The food was also fantastic with great service from Jelle and colleague. They were extremely service oriented and everything could or was done with great effort. Thank you for this incredibly wonderful experience and service. We enjoyed it!

Waardeloos bedrijf! We hebben 90 minuten zitten wachten om erachter te komen dat onze bestelling is geannuleerd! We belde omdat we echt honger kregen. En dan word er niet opgenomen en kom je er via thuisbezorgd achter dat ze hem hebben geannuleerd. Bedankt voor deze waardeloze service! Zou hier echt niks bestellen!

Vorig jaar ook geweest en erg lekker gegeten. Dit jaar hetzelfde op namelijk club karakter, maar wasniet echt lekker. Koud en slappe spek. Mijn vriendin had carpaccio en die was ook erg koud.

Wij, een stel uit de buurt, zijn gasten van het eerste uur. We hebben de opbouw en innovatie meegemaakt en er heel vaak gegeten. De zaak had en heeft enorme potentie. Sinds een tijd gaat het met grote stappen achteruit. Men is inmiddels gesloten in de avond en niet meer geïnteresseerd in klanten voor een simpele lunch. Alles is nu gericht op het friethuys en groepen. Vandaag was voor ons het einde als vaste klant. We dachten even te gaan lunchen op een zonnige zaterdagmiddag. Op het enorme terras waren slechts 5 a 6 tafels bezet. Wij namen vervolgens plaats en keken op de kaart. Kort daarop verscheen een serveerster welke vroeg of we gereserveerd hadden. Rare vraag aangezien het terras nagenoeg leeg was. Wij gaven aan spontaan voor een lunch te zijn gekomen. Ons werd verteld dat er later een grote groep voor een borrel zou komen en dat men geen tijd had voor ons. Wij konden niet lunchen. Wat een belachelijke, vernederende, beschamende en gênante ervaring!! Wij liepen compleet flabbergasted het terras af. What the F just happend!? Wij zijn vervolgens bij de Korenbloem gaan eten iets verderop. Het terras zat vol en er hing een geweldige sfeer. Daar snapt men nog wel wat echte gastvrijheid is. Karakter is voor ons klaar!!

Character once was a chip shop where you could buy quality fries. Friends and acquaintances always said; Let's have some fries and get some character. Never again now. Nowadays, only prices have risen, while quality has deteriorated rapidly. Hard fries or very soft. The taste is quite bad. Even you think; Let me give them another chance, they disappoint again. The bad thing is that they haven't even responded to the reviews yet.

Cafeteria service bad! Dirty tables, impersonal service that "shifts" the work onto each other. What a shame for this cafeteria!

*Update Aug 2024* Nice location, beautiful interior and terrace. Tastefully decorated. Service level has improved quite a bit since the last time I was there. Food, on the other hand, was absolutely nothing special. Very middle-of-the-road. Prices are also decent. A great place to just have a drink in the sun.

OUTRAGEOUS!!! Today we ordered a sandwich without ham. The wait for the sandwiches took a while, but oh well. Once they arrived, they were sandwiches with ham. We gave the toast back, it can happen. But 2 minutes later they came back with the same sandwich and indicated that we were lucky. There were already new ones in the grill device. Felt weird considering the 2 minutes but it was just a lie. Half the ham was still there. They took it out but not properly and lie by saying that they are new toasties and we are lucky because new orders were already in the making. This is not Character! The only thing you hear is that it is annoying and they also ask to pay the entire invoice. Used to be a regular lunch spot, now never again. You just fool your guests without any shame.

Very disappointing experience at Restaurant Café Karakter in Tilburg. We came here with high expectations, but they were quickly dashed. It started with the order: even though we specifically asked about certain ingredients due to allergies, we were given wrong information again and again. It later turned out that the employees simply lied about what was in the dishes. To make matters worse, a friend of ours, who had explicitly indicated that he did not want bacon, still got bacon in his dish. This is unacceptable, especially when it comes to dietary preferences or religious considerations. We will never return here and advise others to pay close attention when eating here. What a deception!

When I picked up fries at the chip shop, I had overcooked fries. At the bottom of the plastic container were many small pieces of fries that were rock hard and unedible. I threw away half a container of fries. I think it's very bad I hardly dare get fries there anymore.

Absolutely terrible experience at KARAKTER. Believe me, folks, I’ve seen a lot of bad restaurants, but this one takes the cake. Waited an hour and a half – can you believe it? And the food, oh, the food was disgusting. Overcooked, slimy vegetables, burnt meat, and something unidentifiable on the plate. A complete disaster. The place was filthy, flies everywhere, and the restaurant itself was falling apart. Worst meal ever. Trust me, stay away from KARAKTER. Total rip-off. One star, and that’s being generous!

Order from Karakter regularly, but the quality has really deteriorated in the past month or so. To give an example, the carpaccio salad; twice in a row now that ingredients have been forgotten (truffle sauce, salt, etc.). Today I even had brown lettuce in there. And this while the price has recently been increased by almost €5. I was satisfied, but unfortunately I'm not anymore...

Just got fries. Baked way too dark so I called to say it was unedible. Back on the bike for a new bag. This is also not edible. Half raw! So when you say they're overcooked, is the solution just half-baked fries? This is a bit of a shame! And then had to pay 8 euros for a bag for 2 people! Cheese souffle was also baked for far too long and was almost the color of a croquette. It's a shame that consistent quality is a thing with you. Can go straight into the bin!

We hadden 1 pinksterdag een babyshower, high tea voor mijn dochter met 9 personen gereserveerd. De aankleding was dan ook zeer karig maar dat hebbrn we zelf een beetje versierd. We hebben er iets van kunnen maar wat was de hightea slecht! Het bestond hoofdzakelijk uit zoete hapjes. Iedereen was er misselijk. Daarbij kwam nog dat er naast ons op een tafeltje de vaat neergezet werd met een grote kan azijn wat verschrikkelijk stonk. En daarbij nam een medeweker ook nog een hap lunch af en toe dat op dat tafeltje stond. Al met al geen aanrader!

A nice menu, a nice lunch in a beautiful location

We hadden de moederdag High Tea gereserveerd. Het restaurant zit aan de rand van het centrum dus vanuit LOZ prima te bereiken. Leuke sfeer, mooi interieur en goed eten. van mij had de High Tea iets spannender mogen zijn qua gerechtjes maar alles smaakte goed en de bediening is erg vriendelijk.

Shame! Visited regularly, even when it was still possible to eat in the evening. We were less pleased with our last visit. No hospitable welcome, long wait for drinks and after we had made a choice with the entire group with 1 lunch menu! several more cards were thrown on the table. The food is not commensurate with the price. Quality has certainly been compromised, both in terms of service and food.

Had lunch today at Karakter. What a disappointment. Everything went wrong in terms of service. Our order was taken later than the orders of people who came in later. The wrong thing was wrong, that can happen. But in addition, the wrong sandwich was delivered to two of the three people in our party. These went back. One of our party took quite a long time before her sandwich arrived. No excuses or nothing. Later the waitress came to say that we were getting free drinks. One wrong sandwich was added to the bill and we received the drink as if not for free. Waitress suddenly claimed that we got the 2nd round of drinks for free, she never said this at the table. At the table the waitress indicated that the drinks were on the house. The owner stood at the bar and did not intervene to straighten things out. Worthless, at these prices, almost 15 euros for a sandwich, you can expect something. We will never come here again.

I had my baby shower today and a lot went wrong. But other than that, we were simply served pork, while this was repeated 4 times that many of them were Muslims and were really not allowed to eat this. So it was clearly stated that no pork should be served at all!! I think this is a really big mistake, and I only found out when I got home that this had already been said several times.

We had a birthday party (60 year old twins), attractive location, well cared for, nice service, with sweets, snacks, snacks and cone of fries. It was a fun party! We enjoyed it!

I went here with my girlfriend for lunch. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was good. The service could perhaps have been a little faster, but it was quite busy so understandable. It is definitely worth repeating for me!

We have now enjoyed lunch (and previously also dinner) several times, fresh fries, a High Wine, a High Gin & Tonic (definitely recommended!) and have now also celebrated our daughter's birthday twice in the garden room. A nice and distinctive business with a nice atmosphere, good service, tasty dishes and personal attention. With a restaurant, garden room, terrace and Friethuys, there are plenty of options for every occasion. Just outside the center but definitely worth it!
