Bar Karakter gets it. You start with that soft eggplant and simit bread (highly recommended!), and then you fill the whole table. The food is seriously good, not your average meal. And if you think it can't get any better: karaoke. Downstairs. Private booth. So, first, get fancy with shared dining, then sing off-key with your friends. This is it.

Food is amazing, the is staff super friendly and the atmosphere makes you feel at home. One of my new fav places in Amsterdam :)

Great service! I entered at 02:00 and even though it was busy and very late, they still made time for me and my friends to sing for an hour till close with unlimited beers and wines. Had a blast!

I entered at 11.35 pm and the guy said that the place was closed. I just wanted to sing one song but NO. Very 😔

Came here for a fun night, left empty-handed. Waited 2 hours for the only employee to try to get the karaoke working. Finally turned on the music on our mobile. Worthless

Had a private party in the karaoke room at the back of the business. At least not such a cold room as the Japanese karaoke rooms that can be found in the center, where everything is more businesslike and snacks are not possible. At Karakter everything was taken care of by the nice owner Rick. Delicious cocktails and snacks, nothing was too much trouble and everything was negotiable.

It was wonderful. The guy there was very nice and we had so much fun. The cocktails were superb. I had the pornstar martini and smothering he created for me. Both very delicious loved it so much!

Friendly owner. Had a date here, which came a little later. Took the time to have a nice chat. Service is top notch, we didn't have to wait long for our drinks and afterwards we checked in to see if everything was to our liking. Beautiful, as it should be! Nice bar to have a drink... With very nice bartenders.. Who are open to everything... This is how they made the p######r '43 for me instead of the average p######r .. And...it was delicious! I can't judge their food because I haven't eaten anything there.

I’m from Japan and used to do a lot of all you can drink Karaokes. This one is by far my favorite in Amsterdam and is worth the money! The room is fun and spacious and has a private bar inside (all you can drink). The staff is so nice and friendly. Favorite place to go for a good party occasion or just for a good karaoke session! Their cocktails in the bar (before or after the karaoke) are also very tasty

Mijn collega's en ik hebben bij Karakter een top avond gehad. De karaoke was geweldig met grote schermen goed geluid. We hebben gezongen, gedanst, gelachen en genoten. De heerlijke drankjes en hapjes maakten het plaatje compleet.

Waanzinnig feestje gehad in de privé karaoke ruimte. De kamer waarin wij zaten was ruim, de muziek keuze was ruim en de uitleg over het hoe en wat was goed te volgen. Leuk eigen barretje in de ruimte die goed voorzien is van verschillende opties. Personeel is vriendelijk en zorgt voor een gezellige sfeer

They have bollywood songs in their playlist! We had so much fun. The host is very friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth it.

It was an amazing experience, there was also a lot of Bollywood songs.

Heel leuke karaoke ruimte. Alleen de airconditioning werkt niet helemaal lekker! Wel belangrijk op zo'n moment. Ik denk dat dit snel is opgelost, verder ook gewoon een leuke kroeg!

Hele gezellige avond gehad...prima karaokeroom..met heel veel keuze aan liedjes. Eten netiets te pittig voor de doorsnee Nederlander, ik vond het heerlijk. Bedankt voor de gastvrijheid en de gezelligheid.

Eten matig. We hadden een pakket met dinner en karaoke. We kregen een hamburger en patat moesten we delen met meerdere mensen aan tafel. We hebben 70 euro pp betaald, zou eerst 60 euro zijn maar kortdag werden we gebeld dat het 10 euro duurder werd. Het pakket stond op de site inclusief bier fris en wijn. Daar aangekomen bleek dat het alleen om de witte wijn ging, geen rood of rose is inclusief. Zou aanraden dit duidelijker op de site te vermelden. Een van oons vroeg om bestek, het antwoord hierop was; hamburgers eet je met je handen, we zijn geen fancy restaurant. Dus geen bestek. Slechte service vanuit vooral de leidinggevende. De jongeren collegas's deden hun werk en snap dat ze ons niet anders konden helpen. Ze deden hun best. Maar ik raad deze tent zeker niet aan als je wilt gaan eten. Avondje karaoke is prima als je witte wijn of bier lust!

Nous y étions allés il y a 4ans nous avions adoré ! de passage à Amsterdam nous y retournons rien à changé, bar vivant bien décoré avec des cocktails réussis!

The place is nice. But the owner or person in charge is too rude. He starts accusing you of things before they happen. We are a group of honest people without any intention of sneaking in people without paying to the karaoke box. Even when someone came back from the toilet he came shouting at them. Dude. Take a chill pill. Really killed the mood from the get go.

Drinks, venue and karaoke were great! The reason for the 2/5 comes down to a member of staff there who seemed to be very controlling of our fun and have a bad attitude. Going over time by 5 minutes (from a 3 hour booking) or cheekily pouring one last beer (during an open bar) when told our time was up surely doesn’t deserve hostile treatment and an intimidating response? When questioning his surprising attitude I was told to leave the bar. The manager was kind and recognized this and apologized which was really appreciated :)

We had such a good night in their private karaoke room but staff ended up being quite rude to us and urging us to finish our drinks as soon as the time was done and they watched to make sure we were not stealing drinks when our time ended, which felt quite offensive and strict after our carefree time 🤐

Super cool place! The cocktails were super nice (long island and strawberry daiquiri). We also ordered the “sneaky snack platter” and it had a little bit of everything, and it was all pretty tasty. The staff was very attentive and friendly! Will definitely come back!

Yes the cocktails are good and the vibe is awesome. But that’s not what makes this place so special. It’s the people who run it, the wonderful, friendly, just flat out amazing people. I’ve lived in DC, Vegas, NYC… and this is not just the best bar in Amsterdam, but the best bar I have ever been to. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Love you guys!

I spent an hour in my hotel with my girlfriend trying to find a cocktail bar in Amsterdam and I couldn’t have chosen a better place to go! The staff are absolutely the nicest people… especially Robin, Giovanni & Felipe!. You won’t find a better bar in Amsterdam. These guys go above and beyond to ensure a fantastic experience. I urge everyone who’s looking for a good bar to drink to come here! You will NOT regret it!!!

Gisteren hebben hier met 25 meiden gegeten en karaoke gedaan. Het begon leuk met dumplings in het restaurant. We zouden daarna ook dineren in het restaurant. Het eten was niet op tijd klaar dus we moesten eerder naar de zaal waar we karaoke zouden gaan doen. De batterijen van de microfoons waren leeg, de tap deed het niet in de zaal, we kregen borden met pasta en lasagne die we uit onze handen moesten eten in plaats van aan tafel en er werd niks uitgelegd over de apparatuur. We hebben 64 euro betaald pp voor eten + onbeperkt drinken. Het drinken kregen we, maar de karaoke en het diner sloegen nergens op!! Het eten was prima maar de afspraak was een diner in het restaurant. Hetmet was eerder een snelle hap lasagne. We hebben geklaagd en wel korting, gratis shots en een half uur langer karaoke gekregen maar dit was niet waar we op hoopten voor dit bedrag. Het mailcontact met de manager, voorafgaand aan de avond, verliep ook al erg raar. Ineens werden de prijzen flink verhoogd en toen we doorgaven dat iemand veganistisch was zei hij dat hij geen koeien in de tuin had grazen, maar dat er echt gekookt moest worden. Super raar en niet grappig. Hadden ze maar echt gekookt en een diner geregeld zoals afgesproken. Wij komen hier in ieder geval nooit meer terug. Leuke tent om een drankje te doen, maar ik zou niet aanraden hier met een groep hier gaan eten en karaoke te doen. Wij zijn echt flink pissig over hoe dit gegaan is en ik zou het niemand aanraden.

I was there with some uni friends and when I ordered wine the bartender asked me what kind I want. I said I wanted rose and then he went and poured the remaining of like 3 different white wine bottles into my glass. I was just staring at him and didn't really understand what was going on. So if you're a student just don't go there cause they will treat you poorly.
