Lovely location, delicious coffee! Too bad the terrace isn't smoke-free!

We always like to combine a visit to the region with lunch at Hackfort's kitchen. The salads are varied, delicious, and feature many products from the garden, which you can overlook from the terrace. We received very friendly service, and they explained to us what some of the "exotic" names meant. The walk afterward is the best dessert. We gladly take some fresh produce and jam back to Germany. We recommend reserving a table in advance.

De Keuken van Hackfort is een toprestaurant. Er wordt optimaal gebruik gemaakt van de nabijgelegen moestuin. Zeer verrassende, verfijnde gerechten. En een hele sympathieke bediening. Sterker nog: toen bleek dat er geen bus of taxi terug naar ons hotel in Vorden beschikbaar was, reed de eigenaar ons in zijn eigen auto terug!

What a beautiful location with a lovely vegetable garden and a lovely terrace, delicious dishes made by chefs who love their work—kudos to them! However, the service on the terrace by the male employee was terribly poor. We wanted vegan food, and the mushroom croquettes were listed as vegan on the menu, so my girlfriend wanted to order them, but he said they were breaded with egg...but she said it was on the menu, which caused confusion. When I then asked if my dish was vegan-friendly, he snapped that if he had filled it in, it was! The tone was set...and when the man took the plates away after we'd enjoyed our meal, he didn't say anything about it, "Did you enjoy it, ladies?" "No, not a word!" Perhaps this man is a bit of a communication disorder or has another disability, but he's totally unsuitable for this job. It's a shame about the negative experience at this wonderful place! It was a birthday lunch, and this man really put a dampener on our afternoon. Addition to your comment: I don't think the solution is customer-friendly. My girlfriend is from Lochem, I'm from Adam, and we had a nice afternoon, which was somewhat underwhelming due to the very unfriendly waiter. So, we won't be back, and I can eat anywhere with customer-friendly service!

Were looking forward to eating there, looked nice, but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. Four-course menu, but the plates were decorated the same for every course. Mountains of mayonnaise with a color as decoration and the food was way too salty. Orders were taken incorrectly, no solutions offered, used dishes and glasses were not cleared in between and the service was grumpy. In short: not recommended, don't go there!

Speaking of customer friendly... Had a small accident with my pants while sitting on the terrace. No questions, no fuss. Reimbursed immediately. Friendly staff! Owner, Mrs. Kirkaldy, deserves a compliment. Recommended!

Great place for lunch! Nice restaurant with a large vegetable garden where they cook from. While you wait for your food you can walk through the vegetable garden. There is everything: fennel, potatoes, broccoli, you name it! The food is also delicious and there are many vegetarian options. Really recommended.

A lovely place with a great terrace. In the middle of the green, atmospheric and a great view of the (vegetable) garden. The dishes are full of fresh ingredients from their own garden. Highly recommended!

Super tasty food! A feast for vegetarians

Al centro di un bellissimo parco che circonda la residenza nobiliare di Hackfort il ristorante è consigliato per una sosta senza pretese. Il menu è comunque vario e offre una vasta scelta di panini, omelette, polpette. Il tutto è presentato sempre con buongusto e ben cucinato. Interessante il vino bianco locale. Prezzi accettabili.

Had a super high tea here! The food was delicious and so was the tea! Also really good in terms of price/quality! Unfortunately we couldn't sit outside because the wind was a bit too strong and there were no tables out of the wind, but everything looked very cozy inside too!

Couldn't have been better: fast and friendly service, even from the boss himself today on a well-occupied terrace under the awnings. View of the budding vegetable garden! Snack and enjoy with a view of the vegetable garden with vegetables and flowers. Beautiful warm day with a quiet terrace. Hobby painters in the vegetable garden. You can also buy fresh vegetables and volunteers keep the garden tidy.

Heel sfeervol restaurant op een prachtig landgoed, met een heerlijk terras en fantastisch eten. Het restaurant is gesitueerd in een koetshuis en kijkt uit op een eeuwenoude moestuin die piekfijn onderhouden wordt. De groenten worden geoogst uit de moestuin en elk gerecht is smaakvol en een lust voor het oog.

We had a fantastic meal here tonight, really delicious. An unsolicited carafe of water on the table, chapeau. Service like you rarely experience, smooth, friendly, you really feel like a guest. We also think the Sauvignon Blanc is super tasty. And yes, we remain Dutch, if I could say something it would be, don't use the same sauces for the starter and main course. The sauces are delicious, but then it all tastes the same. But all in all a big 10!!

Beschrijving van de gerechten is aantrekkelijk maar wat er op je bord arriveert is een ratjetoe aan moesjes, sausjes, prakjes en toefjes. Jammer

Prachtige locatie! Eten : 3 gangen menu. Voorgerecht met makreel was heerlijk mooie aankleding van piccalilly en bietjes. Hoofdgerecht eendeborst met heerlijke saus maar teveel smaken eromheen en ook weer zelfde toefjes als bij voorgerecht. Niet nodig! Dessert panna cotta lekker en ook hier to much. Cashewnoten??? Hoeft niet. Vriendelijk personeel dus een mooi vriendinnen avond!

We wanted to have lunch here around 1pm on a Saturday. It was very busy, but we were still able to join 2 others, who were sitting at a 6-person table. We were quite shocked by the prices! Just a cup of soup for less than ten euros. Bread with 2 croquettes: 16.50 euros. Sandwiches from 13.50! We limited ourselves to a cup of coffee with a piece of apple pie for 7.50 p.p. Service was smooth. Sufficient staff. Nice place, but Amsterdam prices. Don't expect this in the Achterhoek. Shame!

High tea at Hackfort: fantastic! Original snacks, nice variation between savory and sweet. Actually too much on the table. Served quickly and carefully. Nice atmosphere. Busy in the restaurant, but didn't notice much of it. The tea itself is not special, but all fresh and loose (certainly no pickwick). Highly recommended!

Was really terrible food, definitely not value for money.

Week after reservation in which hotel and accommodation were arranged and paid for: canceled, "sorry, we are very sorry." When asked if they could recommend an equivalent replacement restaurant for us: 10 pieces. I thought I was going to something special 😂😂

We returned for the third year in a row for a delicious dinner during our stay in a holiday home during the autumn holidays very close to Hackfort. Delicious food, surprising flavors and everything freshly prepared with vegetables from our own garden. Highly recommended to go!

We had a delicious dinner with lots of taste sensations and beautiful presentation. Friendly staff and quiet atmosphere.

It is always very nice to walk in the area and the historic building is beautifully situated in the woods and meadows. The atmosphere is already nice! You can eat and drink well inside. There are delicious cakes and products from the own garden are used in the different seasons. The only disadvantage I think is that you don't sit very quietly. There is always a lot of noise. I think because of the high ceiling. But visiting Hackfort's kitchen is definitely worth it!

After a five kilometer walk we had lunch. The restaurant was well occupied. An employee opened a side room (presumably the old horse stable) so that we could still sit inside. Very attentive and friendly. I can only say that we had a delicious lunch of a Georgian filled sandwich (Kubdari filled with vegetarian minced meat and oyster mushroom shawarma). We ended this with a bock beer and a glass of rhubarb and apple juice. A perfect day.

Good cappuccino, eye-catching and delicious pastries

They grow their vegetables and flowers in their own moestuin. We had four course dinner and it was all amzaing. I think for average Dutch people is perfect, but I'm a smaller Asian so the portion was a bit too much and all dish had strong flavourinfs or seasonings so it was in the end too heavy. Maybe nice to bring down flavourings for some dishes around the main and let vegetables speak on their own. The ingredients are great. The service was excellent.

Ate apple pie, which was old, cold and soggy. When I reported this, there was no response from the waitress, other than to say that the pastry was two days old and had indeed come from the refrigerator. Too bad because the cake would have tasted delicious fresh. Coffee was delicious, location beautiful.

I asked for a well-done hamburger (because you are not allowed to eat raw meat), I got a hamburger that was raw on the inside. Leave the hamburger. Management indicated that it was busy and therefore things had not gone well in the kitchen. No solution and 18.50 for a dry sandwich without hamburger. A little disapointing!

Very nice location near Hackfort Castle where you can enjoy a delicious meal almost in the garden. On the menu you will find many dishes that are slightly different. Surprisingly tasty and dishes are beautifully balanced Service was not very fast, but the food was definitely worth the wait. So you can easily eat here a few times a week.

Geluncht tijdens fietstocht op het terras met uitzicht op de grote bloemrijke moestuin. Creatieve smaakvolle gerechten met verrassende ingrediënten (“dressing van jonge duizendknoop”) waarvan veel vegetarische keuzes. Tweewekelijks wisselend dinermenu waarvoor we een keer gaan terugkomen!

Had dinner on a Friday evening (NB they are not open all nights of the week!) Beautiful location, we were lucky enough to have nice weather and ate on the terrace. The dishes were served very colorfully with many different flavors on the plate. A feast for the eyes and mouth. Very pleasant service; alert and with a sense of humor. Afterwards, take a walk through the historic vegetable garden. An evening you will not forget!

Nice location in the forest, in a beautiful old authentic building with a partly converted horse stable. Service is nice, and food is surprising and delicious! There is plenty of choice on the menu for both meat eaters and vegetarian lovers. Many ingredients come from our own vegetable garden (in the front garden of the building). The 100% beef burger received a lot of praise and the apple dumpling for dessert was delicious, with a core of food. Recommended!

After the last visit, 2 years ago, it was time for another visit. We brought our neighbor with us, who had an appointment in Vorden, so she was able to enjoy it. Great weather and terrace almost full. Nice lunch with the three of us, omelette with vegetables and twice aranchini salad, beautiful plates with beautiful ingredients. Top team and place!

Wat een (positieve) verrassing! We kenden de prachtige omgeving, de prachtige kruidentuin, het kasteel en de wandelroutes rondom het kasteel al maar nog niet de culinaire diner verrassingen binnen! Lekker ongedwongen sfeer, ruim opgezet restaurant, open keuken. Op vrijdag, zaterdag en zondag wordt er een steeds wisselend keuzemenu (3 of 4 gangen naar keuze) geserveerd met heerlijke gerechten! Niet alleen heerlijk om te eten maar ook een absolute lust voor het oog qua presentatie.

I would have given more stars if possible, the lunch plates looked like a rainbow from their own garden, stunning green setting and friendly service. We could feel that this place is owned and run by passionate people with a heart for nature and history.

If you haven't been to this establishment...you're missing out. My plate of food was complete candy to the eye and a total explosion of flavours! Gorgeous restaurant, REAL food. FRESH food.

We were there on the first summer day of 2024 and they had already converted our indoor reservation to outside. Food was beautiful and delicious.

Extremely tasty and very beautifully presented dishes. Lots of delicious colorful vegetables that are also used in sauces and dips. Delicious quality meat and fish from sustainable sources. The deserts are also beautiful and all home made. Extensive choice of drinks, from homemade juices, non-alcoholic beers, to regular drinks. The chefs clearly have craftsmanship and passion for their creations. Service super friendly and hospitable.

It is a charming place with very beautiful surroundings (castle and natural park). Plus the food is very delicious. I recommend from the "Lunch" menu the Vikingbrood met makreel in zoetzure venkel (omelette-type bread with mackerel and sweet and sour fennel) and Chebureki (krokant flensje) gevuld met gekruid rundergehakt (crispy crêpe stuffed with minced beef, feta and sweet and sour salad) .

Excellent cuisine. We came for the beef croquettes. But because there is now another supplier for this, we opted for the Viking bread with ham and the hamburger. The staff is young, but knowledgeable and very helpful. The dog was given water, walking alternatives were sought and we received a tip about an off-leash area on the other side of the village. Viking bread: cooked artisan ham with a cream of celeriac and a dressing of sea ​​aster mustard, honey and hut tent oil -> Excellent combination, delicious garnish, slightly too much mayonnaise under the ham hamburger: hackfort burger from 100% Dutch beef with lava mayonnaise -> Hamburger that still tastes like meat and is not overly seasoned. It's a shame that the flavor of the atjar has been absorbed by the rest of the garnish.

We were extremely surprised by the tasty preparation. The fact that you can surprise someone with a plate of lettuce and a filled pancake is very special. And then to know that the ingredients come straight from the beautiful garden! I can't wait to have dinner here with my love.

We hebben thee gedronken met een perzik- cranberrygebakje. Thee was prima maar het gebak was niet fris, beetje plakkerig deeg en heel weinig smaak. De bedieninig was ook matig. Dat is jammer want de menukaart ziet er heel goed uit, maar deze ervarong maakt dat we hier toch maar niet gaan lunchen of dineren.

Heel beperkte kaart, maar dat is een bewuste keuze. Kaart wisselt zeer regelmatig. Het eten was perfect. Ik ben geen wijndrinker en dan is de bierkeuze wel klein.

Heerlijke buitenplaats bij een mooie moestuin en het kasteel. Alles komt uit de streek en grotendeels uit eigen moestuin. Heerlijke ingelegde groenten, mooie sauzen en lekker brood. Een echte aanrader!!

Een heerlijk 4 gangen menu voor een zeer schappelijke prijs. Iedere gang is een lust voor het oog en voor de smaakpapillen. Mijn tafelgenoot had een veganistisch menu en werd door de chef verrast met prachtige en originele gerechten. Jammer dat het zover weg is van waar ik woon, anders had ik er een favo-restaurant bij.

Very delicious and fulfilling food & friendly and fast service.

Mooie plek, vers en lokaal eten. Helaas was de bediening van wat mindere kwaliteit. Wat afstandelijk maar ook niet attent. Geen oplettendheid met eventuele nieuwe drankjes en onze borden hebben op tafel gestaan tot we vertrokken.

Heerlijke plek, genieten na een mooie wandeling

Tijdens een fietstocht kwamen we hier langs. Een onverwacht leuke plek met een grote groentetuin erlangs. Het restaurant valt niet op maar zit aan de zijkant van het landhuis. Wij beiden hebben heerlijk geluncht. Mijn gerecht een bietensalade met zure haring ( in een potje), roggebrood veenbessen en rode ui was een voltreffer. Apart was dat in de tijd dat wij daar waren het personeel tot 3 x toe een gerecht naar een andere tafel bracht, raar maar waar.

Vanavond genoten van het 3 gangen diner. Prachtig opgemaakte borden maar nog veel belangrijker super verfijnde smaken. We hebben hebben echt weer heerlijk gegeten en genoten bij jullie ❤️ dankjewel en warme groet Riske

Ontzettend mooie plek in het groen. Met een goede menukaart. Originele garnituren met veel groente vielen ons vooral op. Met veel producten uit de eigen moestuin die je ook kunt bekijken. Vergeet vooral niet even te wandelen in de omgeving.

Uitstekende lunch! Heel aardige mensen in de bediening, kortom aanrader als je in de buurt bijvoorbeeld aan het fietsen bent!

Dikke 5 sterren voor de keukenbrigade en de rest van het team. Zo'n afwisselende, creatieve kaart hier, voor elk wat wils (vlees of vegan), allemaal even smakelijk, met groente en kruiden uit eigen moestuin. Hebben we het niet eens over de locatie..... Blij dat we hier weer naartoe gereden zijn, voor de verrukkelijke en kleurige gerechten ipv het gebruikelijke slappe broodje bij anderen.

Subliem geluncht, originele gerechten, dit moet je geprobeerd hebben!

Enorme aanrader goed eten prachtige locatie en topservice

Op 3 februari heb ik hier gezellig geluncht met een vriendin en heb ik een salade met makreel gegeten. Werkelijk héérlijk, de versheid spat van het bord af. Goede zelfgemaakte dressing en ingelegde pickles. Mooie omgeving ook, aanrader!!

Ben je in de buurt is dit een echte aanrader. Heerlijk vers eten, erg vriendelijk personeel een bijzondere lokatie en omgeving.

Prachtige locatie, pal naast het kasteel Hackfort. Wij hebben hier niet geluncht, maar de broodjes die wij voorbij zagen komen zagen er heerlijk uit. Wij genoten van een lekkere kop koffie, na een wandeling rondom het kasteel. De bediening was erg behulpzaam en benaderbaar, heel prettig. Ben je hier in de buurt, dan is het zeker de moeite waard om even langs te gaan.

Na de wandeling hier een lekker kopje koffie met wat lekkers. Heerlijk en heel vriendelijke bediening.

Ik heb hier zojuist de open sandwich bruinbrood met ham gegeten, het was geweldig. De ambiance is gemoedelijk en de wandeling in de omgeving is prachtig.

Hier wordt heerlijke koffie met lekkere appeltaart en/of ander gebak geserveerd door erg vriendelijk personeel. Een prachtige locatie.
