Kinderkookkafé in Overtoomse Sluis

Bravo for this superb place designed with children in mind! We had a wonderful time with our children, who were able to choose and cook their own food, and play both indoors and outdoors. A real gem! ❤️

The toasted sandwich itself was tasty, but not exceptional. The lemon cake was so dry we didn't finish it. Since it's also quite pricey, that was a bit disappointing. It's a nice place to hang out with kids, though. And a great location for a dance class.

Very cozy inside, good atmosphere. We were helped by Roos, was very friendly and had a nice afternoon. We will definitely come back!

Kids loved making their own pizzas, cookies and cupcakes. Great playground outside that kept them busy for hours.

We celebrated our daughter's birthday here and her friends and my daughter loved it. They learned to prepare their own food and time enjoyed all the activities.

I’m heavily pregnant and was standing in line. When it was my turn, the server (older woman with curly reddish/blond hair) told the person behind me she could go first. The person said “but this lady was in front of me” and motioned to me, but the server said “that’s ok, you can go first”, without a reason or asking me. I’m a regular customer and I’ve been sick throughout my pregnancy. I think my sickness might have bothered the server (she complained about me being sick before), which made her act differently towards me. Anyway, I let it slide in the moment, but when I thought back on it I realised it was absolutely not ok. I’ve seen other complaints about her in the reviews and I hope she gets fired if she’s not the owner, because there are other younger people working there who are friendlier and do a better job. My daughter loves going there so I don’t want to stop going there, but if this kind of treatment continues I might just find another place.

Very unpleasant experience. It would be a nice place, but unfortunately the blond/reddish lady managing is extremely unfriendly and quite rude. The shop positions itslef like a kitchen class for kids, but it is really not the case. The lady doesn't want to help in any way. It looks like she is doing you a favor in getting you in the shop. She was the only staff on site and doesn't give any explanation on how to prepare the food and she is always on the phone. When approached she reacted unprofessionally like if she doesn't want to be bothered with questions. It looks like she does her best to make people feel unwelcome or stupid because they make normal questions such as: where should we prepare the pizza and what tools should we use? Why would you have such a shop where kids should learn how to cook if you clearly give the impression to clients that you don't want to teach anything or even have people inside the shop? We had a look at the reviews and noticed that many other clients had the same bad experience. It is a pity since the place is nicely located and the idea would be interesting.

Nice place for the kids to play and eat.

Actually never leave reviews and normally enjoy going here! But the boy/man who was in the kitchen today - in my experience - had nothing but the desire to be here, to communicate normally or to help you. Grumpy and irritated, I hardly dared to ask anything anymore. Very unfortunate. Tables were dirty and not really cleaned.

Great place to visit with little kids if near the park.

Our toddler had fun making pizza, but the venue isn’t the cleanest and the concept needs some inprovements. The pizza is a few basic ingredients, and they can’t make their own flavour. The actual food sold is quite poor. So much potential though, so fingers crossed it gets better. No vegan options.

A very pleasant moment with the family, in a café a few meters from the Vondelpark where the children choose from a dozen dishes/snacks to make themselves (cupcakes to decorate, pizzas to make from a few ingredients, etc.). The team is very friendly, the indoor space includes a good selection of toys and books and there is access to an outdoor terrace, with outdoor games.

Suitable place to welcome children of different ages.

It is a nursery school for children on school holidays.

Interesting concept but: - almost entirely junk food (all sweets) - staff not bothered by the clients, more interested in sitting in the kitchen and chatting with each other - clueless about food allergens.

Lacklustre. More than happy to tell you what you can’t do and where you can’t go, but getting any information about what you’re there for (decorating a cake, making cookies etc) is like pulling teeth.

Super lekker broodje gegeten met old Amsterdam kaas. Lekkerste ooit. Vriendelijke jongens die er werken. Cupcake versiert, lekker even weer kind zijn😉 heel leuk ,komen zeker nog eens terug.

Super leuk voor de kids (en de ouders). Kinderen kunnen lekker hun gang gaan en kunnen niet makkelijk van het terrein af. Werken ook leuke mensen. Fantastische brownies btw!!

Very original but not for too young children (under 4)

Wonderful little place for little people. Staff are super friendly in this not for profit. There are “do it yourself” kits for kids to cook their own meals with safe plastic (reusable!) utensils and suitable height tables and chairs. Our 3 year old made a pizza, there was also a sausage roll as a savoury option, then she decorated the top of a cupcake. Both tasted nice. Good teas and coffees for grown ups. Playground outside with wooden treehouses etc. Very close to tram stop and Vondelpark. Highly recommend.

Unfriendly staff. At points it seemed they are really annoyed by the children. The concept is good.

We visited while on holiday a few years ago and our kids (4 and 6) really loved it. It has comfortable seating arrangements for the parents as well and it's a great place for kids to roam around, play as they please and prepare their own lunches. They still like to make their own pizza and they regularly treat us to a croissant breakfast. Highly recommend!

Had a kid's birthday party there. Unfortunately the outside playground was mostly closed off still. There was a mistake with the booking, the starting time was registered wrongly, but the manager managed to call all personnel in the early morning and it could start only 30 mins too late. Good service

Leuk tot ong. 4 jaar. Leuk dat je zelf je cake kan versieren. Buiten een leuk speeltuintje. Paar min puntjes. Niet heel schoon. Meerdere messen waren vies (zwart tussen de kartels). Cake was niet heel lekker en had meer van het versieren verwacht. Buiten mogen kinderen niet hard praten. Lastig als je met een groepje kinderen komt.

Personal war super freundlich. Kinder können sich kreativ austoben, während die Eltern ein leckeren Kaffee genießen konnten. Ein Besuch lohnt sich auf jedenfall wenn man in der Nähe ist

Nice location and playground but the service is not great. Limited menu with no food options for lactose/dairy and meat free eaters (you can also not eat your own food there) as everything has cheese or meat. When paying for two drinks and a cup cake the cashier stated quite rudely and frowning "is that all?" (Not in an inquiry way) and then 1hour later when friends paid the cashier claimed we hadn't paid for one of our drinks. So 6.50euro for a cupcake and kids juice box.... right....

Estupendo para ir con niños. Los peques pueden hacer y hornear sus propias pizzas y cookies. Allí tienes todos los ingredientes en la medida necesaria y los utensilios para cocinarlo. Luego se la pueden comer.

Een diner gereserveerd voor een verjaardag. Is een sfeervolle kindercafé. De kinderen waren actief bezig met koken en werden goed begeleid.De service is voldoende. Ik had alleen wat meer verwacht van het diner. Voortaan zou het beter zijn als de medewerker van tevoren een paar opties aangeeft wat zij precies kunnen maken. Ik had mijn wensen doorgegeven, daarna kort gesprek gehad maar tijdens het gesprek verder werd er verder niks verteld. Hierdoor was het eten niet helemaal wat ik gehoopt had.Des ondanks wel voldoende

Nice location at the Vondelpark, near Overtoom. Reachable by tram or by bike. Car parking underneath Reade, center for rehabilitation. Good idea, nice for kids parties, but if would be great if the kids could learn to prepare some other meals too, perhaps more on a healthier side. Another improvement would be if they could be more friendly and welcoming towards the kids.

Leuke plek voor de kids. Echt gastvrij. Alles kon, en natuurlijk heerlijk voor de kinderen om lekker creatief bezig te zijn met koekjes deeg. Ook lekker voor mama want die hoeft de rommel niet op te ruimen ;)

Brilliant idea and lots of fun for kids. If you are looking for a place to have a coffee or tea while your kids can play, this is it. Also great for birthday parties or play dates. Great place to warmup after a walk in a cold winter day with your kids.

there are some stairs to get in bit kids can also take the slide. We had a Birthday party celebration full of sugar and chocolate! Bake with your friends your own chocolate cake, Oatmeal cocobars and decorating spice bread houses... Magic sweet smelling partyg from first to last minute with small aprons for the kids and cueing to wash your hands before starting to bake! 2hours is short to also unpack all presents but you get home with a paper bag full of ownbaked/decorated goodies! (Bring a take away box in case as the self baked cake can be huge if kids are already stuffed with other things, nice to take to class or afternoon visitors)
