Terrible service, the guys doing nothing

Nice atmosphere and variety of drinks!

Just had a company dinner here. Vegetarian options were provided. The main course ended up being just risotto with half a mushroom. Literally nothing else. When I asked if there was anything else coming, I was told, "No, but there's more than enough risotto." The starter was a quarter of a carrot and a quarter of a head of chicory on a flavorless white foam. The ingredients list did contain a lot of difficult Japanese words. The dessert was good, but I'm going home to cook some more at 11 p.m. The service was prompt and attentive. The heat was so high that everyone rushed out to Rembrandtplein after dessert.

Super nice cook came by to ask something, kind service and atmosphere but quite expensive and small portions. Tasted great.

We were initially satisfied; the service was good and quick. The starters were excellent. After that, things fell apart. We waited 50 minutes for the main course, and the steak was tough. The atmosphere was very nice, but the rest left something to be desired.

Unfortunately, I had such a bad experience at this place. The blonde waitress was extremely rude, came to us asking “betalen”, didn’t even say that they are doing last call. When we asked when are they closing, the answer was “in 15 minutes you have to be gone!”. I felt very uncomfortable and not welcome at all. Definitely not a good place to waste your time…

The ambience was nice. It’s right in the center of Rembrandt Square in Amsterdam. The restaurant was beautiful. The seating was cozy. The food was very disappointing. I’d ordered oysters and they were bad. Bad as an old. I ordered a risotto and it came with a salad on top of it, and the salad was old. Why would there be a salad on top of the risotto anyway? My colleague ordered the salmon and that two came out dry with a strange cream sauce with an old salad on top of it. The drinks were nice. I really wish the food quality matched the looking ambience of this restaurant because if it did, it would be spectacular. Unfortunately, I will not be visiting this restaurant again.

It's a very quiet place with good music, a good atmosphere, the waiters are very friendly, the food is delicious, nothing better than having a good wine and enjoying the city!

In the very center of Amsterdam it's hard to fine a real food... It's all for tourists, burgers and stuff.. But this place saved me with its fine food of every kind, very good and kind service, and of course, the view is pretty 😍 Definitely recommend!!!

The carpaccio isn't great, but it's okay. The crushed potatoes are recommended, and you can always find drinks here.

Looks very nice from the outside and from far away but when you sit down… every single table and chair was super dirty and there were no guests inside so i’m wondering how nobody had time to clean anything, coffee cups found on the floor… and 15€ cocktail that was only ice.

Terrible experience, I asked for an American and received a negroni, they made it again, blatantly recycling the first cocktail ... I of course do not drink even a sip of the second one and despite I pointed it out to him he only replied "I'm sorry" and charged a whopping 14 euros for a cocktail that I did not drink and they did it out of pure spite.... Worst cocktail bar in my life, and even worse service...I wouldn't recommend even my worst enemy to go there

Too few people to ensure good service. Limited quantity for good food. But good quantity. Restrooms very limited in terms of cleanliness compared to the establishment. Cocktail glass filled with too much ice. Error taking order with 1 extra appetizer brought by mistake, but charged.

The service is blind, all kinds of people who are ready to order and service walks completely past the people who want to order something. Food and wine is also mediocre, takes a long time for a small order, service also looks suicidal.

Wow! Such a beautiful space, fun and interesting decorating, and absolutely delicious food. They light a ton of candles for dinner so get reservations, it’ll be worth it. Their basic green salad and warm goat cheese open-face sandwich was delicious. I highly recommend their mint tea. We will be back!

Food good but one steak was grissle, and staff stopped communicating after, suppled a new steak no problem, Mash Medley that came with it was very small and this could not be changed prior to order which makes me think frozen,2x bowls of extra chips all then good

We have a comedy show from Nesim el Ahmadi tonight at the Kleine Komedie and we wanted a nice place to kill time. We walked past this lovely place. We had a perfect table outside in the sun. But inside is magical, the high ceilings and lovely lighting did the trick. Def worth the try!

Never been treated like this before! Guests before us were greeted kindly: good evening, would you like something to drink or eat? We were looked at as if we were homeless. It was the last evening in Amsterdam for me and my daughter (almost 10 but just to eat in restaurants) and we wanted to make it something fun and cozy on your terrace. Unfortunately, this was not granted to us.

Absolutely terrible food here . My €28 steak was the tiniest piece of meat you have ever seen . Drinks we ordered never came . We asked twice where they were . Still nothing! We asked for chips no chips came mail after we finished ! Manager didn’t want to know just said tints what it is . Don’t bother awful place

We stopped here just for a nice hot tea. Warm welcome, cozy atmosphere and very pleasant interior design. Great tea service. We’ll come back for the evening atmosphere!

Saturday 1/2/25 had a drink and a snack, tables were dirty, it took a long time before the order was taken. We ordered bread and sweets. Half of them weren't there. Poor service and to make matters worse, the ladies toilets were too dirty for words and it was pricey.

Food was okay but nothing special and not cheap. Dinner for three with dessert, drinks and tip was €155.

We came by in the evening for a drink and unfortunately were not welcomed upon entry, which in itself is not a problem if the service is good afterwards. Unfortunately we had to find a place ourselves and then wait a very long time before anyone came by to take our order. After repeatedly having to ask for drinks ourselves, we noticed that the pattern kept repeating itself. Even with a largely empty store and sufficient staff, there was no focus on service at all. Finally, after a disappointing experience, we decided to ask for the bill and leave. The interior looks fancy and has potential, but the service was far below par. Very unfortunate, because we did not expect this.

We had dinner without reservation this Wednesday, December 25 at 7:30 p.m. We took the Christmas menu and therefore we went with a 5 course: - an appetizer with smoked salmon, scrambled egg and hollandaise sauce - as a starter: beef rillette for one and fish carpaccio for the other - second starter: parmesan risotto on zucchini with peanuts - 3rd course: bouillabaisse with small clams with rouille on toasted bread - 4th course: fillet of duck breast with parsnips for one, halibut with a small potato roll, sautéed samphire - dessert: Apple Pie revisited We drank Chardonnay and a Merlot. The entire meal was a real delight, the service was impeccable, little waiting, the staff was very attentive, considerate, respectful and attentive. The cooks work in front of us in an open kitchen. The toilets are spotless. Total transparency. Thank you for this delicious meal.

Forgotten, missed, it never came, A bitter note to end the game. So here’s the truth, the honest view, A place of charm, but troubles too. Decent food and a lovely scene, But service slow—if you’re not keen.

As four of us, we chose this place to have a drink. We were welcomed in a very nice and warm way. The interior is very stylish, the staff is experienced, the cocktails are worth trying, the bartender helped us with the drinks we chose. It is close to the center and has heated seating outside. Service is very good

You come in and are helped, that's fine. Then, when ordering drinks, you ask what kind of beers are available and what a particular beer contains. The answer was "I don't know anything about that", okay, but then just ask. Well, that can happen. Then we wait almost fifteen minutes for our drinks and I get the wrong thing, that can happen too. Well the good drinks are available (I thought), unfortunately I was then told that they no longer had them. I can still overlook it all, I am now eating and it tastes good until I have a long black hair in my salad. Well, sorry, but damn. Then my appetite is really gone 😂 I call someone over and politely indicate that I don't need another salad because I had already eaten half of it, but that they might need to keep an eye on it. The answer was “this is really not possible and I am going to report it” no, that is true, that is indeed not possible. Then you expect that it will indeed be said to the rest of the staff and that someone will come back to your table and take the salad off the bill or give you a drink for free or something or at least an apology. Nothing at all. Sorry, but for the money you pay here you can really find better places. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

I was here recently with my family, we had a table close to the open kitchen. The food was not only very tasty but the presentation also looked good. The kitchen staff looked very motivated. Very enthusiastic about the food everywhere.

What a beautiful place and what a delicious meal we had. What great people in the kitchen, you can see that it is a well-oiled machine. Young and old work fantastic together in the beautiful open kitchen.

We were sat at a table when the restaurant was still half empty. After waiting for at least 15 minutes while we were completely ignored by the waiting staff we finally left. Room is beautiful and location is great but the staff has no business being in hospitality.

Every visit to Van Rijn is an incredible experience! We had a lovely night at the restaurant. The food was fantastic, as was the service. We went on a Friday evening and they had a dj. Although we sat outside because it was September, we could hear it. Great vibe, great service, great food and reasonable. Next time I visit Amsterdam, it will be a place I'd visit again in a heartbeat.

I was there for a corporate hospitality event upstairs in the bar. There were only a few chairs and we had all been on our feet all day, so perhaps not the best choice of venue. The upstairs bar only had bottled lager of dubious heritage, for dark beer I had to go downstairs and get it myself. The canapes were excellent and the little burgers and fries were excellent when they eventually arrived, we could have done with them an hour earlier. From the balcony, the diners below in the restaurant seemed happy enough

Popped in for a drink on a Saturday evening. It was nice and full, the atmosphere was pleasant. A DJ provided the music and played along on the piano. The staff was friendly and also provides drinks that are not on the menu (Irish coffee). The terrace is equipped with heaters, so you can sit here even when it gets chilly.

Had a few Swinckels from the tap with my brother. Really good lager! Also had bitterballen from Holtkamp, ​​very tasty.

Outside is deceptive. It looks like a tourist place squashed in amongst other ones. Inside it’s a huge bar, with need for some updating (my thought), but what gives this place the 5/5 treatment is the complete friendliness of the staff and above all, the food. It’s a gourmet restaurant and the food was to die for. Had the chefs 5 course special and each dish was a pleasure. Well complemented by the wine the server helped me with. Kudos and thanks to all!

Als je een dagje gaat shoppen in Amsterdam en je komt met de trein (vanuit het oosten) dan blijf je altijd “plakken” bij de standaard toeristen plekjes. Op advies een klein stukje met de tram richting Rembrandtsplein. We (dochter en ik) hebben geluncht op het terras. Een heerlijke en mooi opgemaakte clubsandwich (met groentechipjes erbij) en een salade. Het is een fijn terras. Een klein minpuntje: de asbak van de tafel naast ons was niet leeg. Dat is tijdens het eten niet fijn. Het interieur binnen zag er geweldig uit! Het oog wil ook wat. Fantastisch! Ik kom beslist nog een keer terug, ben nml erg benieuwd hoe het daar in de avond is.

Extremely slow service. If you are in a hurry or you don’t have a few hours to spare just to get lunch I would go somewhere else. The lunch menu is very limited compared to the dinner menu.

The food was nice but the waiters weren't looking

We had the worst service. First, we had to wait for a long time till a waiter noticed us. Second, we waited long time for our cocktail to be served, and they even messed up with table and served to others at the beginning. Third, we were asked to pay the bill before we finished the drink, which offended us. My bf was laughing that maybe they thought we could run away from paying?! Definitely the last time sitting there!!!

This was the most disgusting meal I’ve ever had. I ordered about 5 dishes and I can’t even say that one of them was edible. Not to mention, the service was so horrible you can’t even get your waiter to come to the table within an hour from the last time. DONT GO HERE!!! Save your money!!!!

Ordered 2 x 6 oysters tonight for 4.75 euros each. They were so small that I had to take my magnifying glass to find them and they were told from the kitchen that we can't do anything about it, this is the last delivery for me.

The food didn't arrive for another half hour, the hamburger was so disgusting I really don't know what was in it. And the fries are as hard as a rock. I advise you not to eat or drink anything there because you are paying for something that is not even worth it.

Just had a drink and that's been a few times. Staff can be a bit confused whether it is busy or quiet. Very nice place with large terrace. Inside, there are beautiful tables at the front with a view of Rembrandtplein.
