Great experience! I had a truly delicious fondue and some traditional bitterballen meatballs, incredibly flavorful and well-made. The food overall was excellent quality; you could taste the care and attention put into the preparation. A special mention goes to the waiter Angelo: kind, helpful, and very attentive, he made the lunch even more enjoyable. Impeccable service. Highly recommended!

Just had a lovely Christmas Day lunch at this lovely place, next door to my hotel, the food was delicious and different to Christmas Day food in Uk Five star service from Angelo and Lourenco , definitely recommend coming here again as lovely chilled atmosphere

Koepelcafe is a lovely and very cosy place. They make cheese fondue and amazing fries with truffle mayonnaise. Angelo and Josephine's service was absolutely perfect!

We spent a morning at Koepelcafé for coffee and tea and arrived an hour prior to their opening time. Staff member Laurenco did not think twice and opened up an hour early, accommodating us for "just coffee and tea". Hats off to both Laurenco and Lieke for their top-notch service and hospitality, you are both rare gems in Amsterdam's restaurant & bar scene and the city could use more people like you!

Everything was great, the food was delicious, and the service from the waiters, Lorenzo and the waitress, was also delightful.

This cute cafe is screen friendly. Their coffee is so spectacular I ordered two iced latte macchiato. I was helped by both serves there Lorenzo and Lieke. They are both wonderful!

Went here before a concert at Bitterzoet, drank a fresh mint tea, it was really good. Honey was served in a small jar which was a really nice touch! We were served by Lorenzo, who was really nice and helpful.

Koepelcafé is one of those places you stumble upon while strolling along the canals and think, "Okay, I'll stay here for a while." It has a super chill vibe, soft music, and a terrace that's ideal for watching the world go by while you take a break from your walk. The location couldn't be better: perfect for pausing, recharging, and continuing to explore the city. A relaxed, beautiful place with delicious food and a great atmosphere. Totally worth a stop. 😎✨

Amazing! We didn’t actually try the food, but the service was outstanding—they were incredibly friendly. The atmosphere was the real highlight, and we were able to enjoy some great quality time there.

I had a great time! Fancy venue, good food, nice drinks, great music and service. The terrace is big and beautiful terrace (amazing views). 100 % recommended!

The atmosphere on the terrace was not pleasant, and it was extremely expensive; the bill was a euro more than we had ordered. Not nice.

We went to the Koepelcafé today for the first time since the renovation and unfortunately, it will also be the last time. The prices have at least doubled, but the quality has gone significantly down. I ordered a club sandwich, which was very disappointing. The eggs had almost no taste looked like rubber and like they came from a carton, the chicken was yellow and extremely dry, and the overall flavor was bland and unappealing. My wife ordered meatballs in satay sauce, and those were just as bad. They looked like they came straight out of a can, and they were completely tasteless. We used to enjoy coming here, but after this experience, we won’t be returning. It’s a real shame to see how much the place has changed and not for the better.

I'd like to start this review by saying I think the comments below were written by Boris himself. Because what an arrogant and unwelcoming person he is. I specifically came to the Koepelcafé because I saw in an article that it had reopened. But Boris's presence made us feel completely uneasy. This was partly due to his crazy/inappropriate comments (as other reviews suggest). Fortunately, there's a great tapas restaurant on the other side. I advise everyone to avoid this place as long as Boris is working here. Until then, we'll be done for. Sincerely, Frans

I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel and visited the Koepelcafé three times during my stay. The service from Engelo, Gus, Damitris, and especially Lars was absolutely fantastic. Lars and Gus really took their time with us, gave us personal attention, and even shared great tips for the city. They made us feel welcome every single time. Unfortunately, everything changed because of Boris. I have honestly never been treated so disrespectfully in a hospitality setting. He was snappy, rushed, and made strange remarks that completely ruined the atmosphere. On our very last night we even left earlier than planned because of him that’s how uncomfortable he made us feel. It’s such a shame, because people like Lars and Gus are the reason you’d want to come back. But because of Boris, we won’t return to the Koepelcafé and sadly, not to the hotel either.

We were on our way to another restaurant when the rain came with a vengeance. We stopped here to stay dry and so glad we did! The food,service and atmosphere were just grand. My only regret is that we found this place on our last night in Amsterdam instead of our first!

We had a wonderful evening! The food was delicious, and we sat peacefully in the conservatory. The service was especially excellent! Our host, Boris, truly made our evening. He told us more about the hotel and its history.

We had lunch at this establishment, which we highly recommend! We were very well received and served very well by friendly and welcoming staff.

Randomly stumbled upon this place while walking around Amsterdam. We really enjoy the atmosphere and the staff! Boris was awesome and had some great beer recommendations too. Definitely a must stop for a quick beer and bite.

Just had the most delightful experience at Kopelcafe! This cute little cafe is an absolute gem. Their wine selection is fantastic, and the Rose is an absolute must-try! A huge shoutout to Boris for the excellent recommendations and to the entire service staff for being so wonderful. Highly recommend stopping in!

Wish I could give the service a 6. We happened into this place after a 20 mile bike ride. It happened to be their first day open after a 9 month remodel. The menu is fantastic and everyone had something delicious. Our server Boris is an absolute treasure. As a sommelier at two former Michelin starred restaurants he knew his stuff when it came to wine and was absolutely hysterical. We had a large group of 9 and he and the staff were magnificent. I highly recommend if you are in Amsterdam. There was something for everyone and the atmosphere was amazing.

Good service, but you shouldn't order a simple rum chocolate milk here because the rum is poured seven times over, and then a classic chocolate rum suddenly becomes €16, and it was cold too. Furthermore, the staff only spoke English and couldn't even take the order in Dutch. I really don't mind if people speak bad Dutch, but even not knowing 30 simple words seems a bit silly to me.

The service was good, but the prices are ridiculous. Absolutely don't go here for a small drink, because you'll be ripped off. I ordered a chocolate milk rum and was charged 16 euros, even though I'd asked for the cheapest rum they had. If they'd told me about the price beforehand, I wouldn't have had a drink here (or a cocktail for that ridiculous price).

Used to be the best place for French Onion Soup but sadly it's no longer on the menu. Ordered drinks, which came wrong, Ordered food for 2, which came 5 minutes apart, by which time mine was cold, Ordered bread and butter with the food which never came. That arrived when we were ready to leave. One napkin between 2 people and no cutlery. Atrocious service and such a shame as this used to be one of the best places to eat

Pedí bebidas, que venían mal, Pedí comida para 2 , que venía con 5 minutos de diferencia, en ese momento el mío estaba frío, Pedí pan y mantequilla con la comida que nunca vino. No hay servilleta, lo siento, una para dos personas, no hay cubiertos. Servicio atroz y una pena como este solía ser uno de los mejores lugares para comer

Cappuccino was great. But 8 Poffertjes for 10€ is quite a lot, but it was delicious. Just very cold in the “winter garden”.. friendly service!

Unfriendly Staff, food is mediocre

Unfortunately, our visit to the café was disappointing. The service was disorganized and overwhelmed. Part of our order was forgotten. It seemed like we were not welcome. We had to wait forever for the bill. The atmosphere is nice, but the service ruins the experience.

I can't rate the food at this place, so I'll just tell you why you shouldn't go near this café. We entered and there was no one in the room, we sat down and my boyfriend went looking for someone throughout the place who could provide a menu, 15 minutes must have passed since our arrival, finally the boy brought a menu to the table where my boyfriend and I sat, together with our little dog. In the end we were kicked out by the lady who told us that dogs were not allowed, all this 20 minutes after our arrival, NO SIGN DISPLAYED AT THE DOOR that could prevent us from even wasting time. You are in central Amsterdam, it is 2024, you should think about reevaluating your menu and your service rather than focusing on not letting dogs in.

The cafe is attached to the Renaissance hotel. We attempted to grab a drink while sitting on the patio and was ignored by the waiter. He helped everyone around us, although the table behind is complained about the wait and the lack of utensils once their food arrived. After 20 minutes, we sat at the bar and grabbed a beer. Be cautious when visiting, leave plenty of time.

Service very slow , waiting for the burger half and it came well done even I ask for medium rare . Simple food and no so tasty

The food was mediocre. We ordered the Broodje Kroket and the Koepelcafe Tosti. Not bad, but nothing special. We sat outside which was nice since it was a sunny day and there’s a giant tree providing shade. The service was horrendous. The tables we chose to sit down (outdoor is self seating) had plates and cups from the previous customers. We sat down and it took them 5 minutes to clear the table. We looked at the menu and waited to order food and drinks and it took them about 10 minutes to come around just to take our order. After ordering, we waited 45 minutes before we ordered 2 dishes! To give some context, the place had no patrons and there were 2 servers just standing around. Don’t recommend at all especially if you’re in a rush!

The coffee shop attached to the hotel has a very nostalgic atmosphere. I stopped here in the afternoon to drink coffee and eat snacks. It was very quiet. The waiters were very friendly and would not disturb me all the time.

Waited 30min for an omelette and a tostie. Tostie was not the best. Omelette average. Had to ask twice when the food was coming. Waiters seemed a bit out of it.

The cafe was great! We ordered two coffees and an apple pie, which was delicious. The waitress was very rude though. She kinda forced us to leave. She got the bill, without us asking for it and just left it on our table without even asking if we would like to order something else. We checked, it was not closing time, but the waitress was in a hurry I guess. The place was also not crowded, there were many empty tables so this behaviour didn't make any sense to me and my wife. She ruined our romantic coffee date.

It is the cafeteria of the attached hotel. They have 3 types of breakfast for people from outside and they are quite complete, good quality and price compared to what there is in the center. We had the French breakfast that included per person coffee, orange juice, croissant, mini chocolate Neapolitan, a walnut and honey cake, and a roll, all accompanied by butter and good jam. Everything at 10.50.. each.
