Super cozy café with friendly staff and great coffee! The selection of cakes isn't too big, however the food I ordered on one of my visits arrived promptly. The Reuben Sandwich is good for the price, Flat White and Cappuccino are outstanding. Great for watching Amsterdam streets, grabbing a quick coffee, or even sitting outside if the sun comes out.

Called in when the apple pie caught my eye through the window. Absolutely gorgeous, so different to pie in the UK. Beautiful pastry, packed with apple that has texture and not too sweet. Lovely chilled atmosphere.

We found this cute cafe by the canals and decided to come here the next morning to have breakfast. The apple pie is so good, especially the crust. One of the best apple pie I’ve ever tried! Usually I don’t like whipped cream but their cream is really soft and not heavy at all, it complements the pie very well! The atmosphere of the cafe is very cozy and the interior is really nice. The staff is also very friendly and welcoming! Definitely will come back here again next time we visit Amsterdam!

Beautiful location, friendly staff and typical European small cafe feel. As a staunch coffee critique I found their flat white to be one of the best I've ever had! Also, the Mexicana omelette was to die for - great flavours, sumptuous fillings and the chutney was splendid.

Their apple tarts were so good!! The cafe has welcoming atmosphere with friendly staffs. I had an apple tart at Winkel and felt it’s too sweet for me. But here, the tart tastes so balanced with fresh apple and raisin filling. They also have good coffee and tea.

Friendly service, horribly food. We ordered the omelette and avocado toast, which was a mistake…The bread was soggy, the type you feed the seagulls. And taste was…let’s say, i put my fork down after 1 bite. And the price? €17, way too high!! Sorry, but please only order coffee or a pancake, save yourself a disappointment.

Enjoyed the breakfast and the atmosphere. I ordered a flat white and a hot chocolate, but a cappuccino was served instead of the hot chocolate. After clarifying, I asked for it to be replaced with the correct drink, but the cappuccino was still included on the bill.

Worst dining experience I've had in Amsterdam. Terrible service. We didn't even get a chance to eat because we had to leave to avoid continued mistreatment by the woman operating on us. I absolutely do not recommend it.

Excellent apple and cinnamon pancakes. The glass of berry lemonade was a bit bland. In the terribly small toilet, you can barely turn around, and your knees are against the toilet door.

We loved this place. We went there 3 times during our week in Amsterdam. It’s a good option for breakfast. But the most important reason to visit is the apple pie. It is absolutely delicious. The location is nice and a couple of the outdoor tables are right by the canal. The service is friendly and kind. Highly recommend.

The sandwiches and desserts are definitely above average. Four stars might be a bit much for a place that only serves sandwiches and desserts, but for "just" sandwiches and desserts, they're truly delicious. The real highlight, however, is the slightly retro yet very charming and welcoming atmosphere. The perfect place for a stop on a day spent walking and exploring the city.

Typical city coffee house. Welcoming staff, the bacon and apple pancake was delicious as was the coffee. Arrived around 10 am on a weekday, plenty of room to sit.

Delicious breakfast!!! We had eggs, bacon, avocado, toast, banana pancakes, and avocado breakfast toast/sandwich. All was fantastic. I forgot to take photos, but check out the apple pie!

I was at De Hoek a week ago. A total disaster! The blonde waitress with the ponytail was really rude. I had to ask for water twice. The table next to me immediately got a jug with glasses and tap water. After a long wait, I got a small glass with a bit of water. Generally, English tourists are served much faster and more politely there. That's a total no-go! Then I wanted to pay inside and three waiters deliberately ignored me until I finally spoke to them. Who do they think they are in that place? They have no food culture at all, no good quality, nothing! But they do have exorbitant prices and an arrogance that I don't understand where they get it from, given what they serve. I miss the old Amsterdam of about 10-15 years ago. It may be true that there were almost only coffee shops back then, but the people were much more relaxed and friendly!

The staff is warm as well as the charm of the interior. I had my breakfast every morning for 2 weeks here. There's a wonderful view and comfortable outside or inside. The food is delicious and the service is fast.

I had to wait 45 minutes for a banana pizza. When I got the pizza there was little benaan on it and I at least expected the pancake to be tasty. That's it, but not that they are better than the ones I eat at home

Small cafe in the center of Amsterdam. Few tables inside. Another 3 tables outside near the sidewalk. The scent of the croissants is perceived as soon as you cross the threshold of the restaurant. Low volume Italian music leaves a sense of tranquility and peace. A really good breakfast.

direkt an der Prinsengracht findet man seit 1954 das gemütliche Kaffeehaus De Hoek mit schöner Terrasse an der Prinsengracht. Ein Besuch lohnt sich. Der Service ist nett und wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

We came for breakfast after visiting the Anne frank house. Food was perfect and set us up for the day. Try the traditional uitsmijter which is fried eggs on bread with ham and cheese- delicious! I added mushrooms to mine aswell.

I have eaten here a few times now with friends and alone and I think it is a very nice place to have a quiet meal. And it's not too expensive either, which is hard to find in the center of Amsterdam.

It was a cold, damp day and we were looking for a warm, dry stop. We found a great place for a bowl of homemade pea soup and cup of hot chocolate.

If you’re after a healthy breakky then head to the smash avo on toast (which i had) or the omelettes. Simple but good. Don’t prder a flat white if you’re looking for a specialty coffee. Very friendly service and cute little place !

I’m only leaving this review because it happened to me again on the same day yet I feel as if I’m pretty polite, and chill. Service was great when I entered! I sat down, asked if I’d like a drink. I asked for a flat white. I got the flat white, and it was delicious, great. Then I waited for my food order. Nothing. Must’ve sat there for 20-30 minutes and didn’t get a look. So I paid for my flat white and left. I don’t know whether I should’ve hailed the waitress down, or whether i really should’ve ordered my breakfast with my coffee, but that’s not how it sounded.

La cafetería tenía unas ocho a diez mesas en el interior y varias mesas en el exterior con vistas al canal. Elegimos comer dentro en la sección superior de la cafetería que tenía alrededor de cuatro mesas, tal vez cinco escalones arriba. Fuimos recibidos por un servidor amable y nos sentamos inmediatamente. My Honey ordenó el Avocado BLT y yo el Harry Club. My Honey's BLT se abrió de cara lo cual fue interesante. Mi Club fue excepcional con aguacate, tocino, huevo frito, pollo y verduras frescas. Ambos fueron servidos con papas fritas. Nuestro servidor fue rápido y nos proporcionó un servicio impecable. También tenían rodajas de pastel de café y pastel de manzana en el mostrador cuando entras que tomamos para llevar. Disfrutamos mucho de nuestro delicioso almuerzo y lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

I recently visited Koffiehuis De Hoek, and it was, hands down, one of the worst experiences I've ever had in any coffee house. From the moment I walked in, I was met with unfriendly, borderline rude staff who seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than serving customers. The atmosphere was anything but cozy—dim lighting, uncomfortable seating, and the place smelled musty, like it hadn’t been cleaned properly in weeks. When I finally managed to get the attention of a staff member, my order was taken with a dismissive attitude. The coffee was shockingly bad—stale, lukewarm, and bitter, as if it had been sitting in a pot all day. The pastry I ordered was even worse: dry, flavorless, and clearly not fresh. I wouldn’t be surprised if it had been sitting in the display case for days. To make matters worse, the prices were ridiculously high for the subpar quality of the food and drinks. I left feeling ripped off and disappointed. I cannot understand how this place stays in business. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration—there are plenty of better coffee spots in town. Avoid Koffiehuis De Hoek at all costs!

Really disappointing. I had the smashed avocado and fried egg for €18 (extra 1.50 for eggs to be fried). There was less than half an avocado on the two slices of toast and the eggs looked like they had been fried for twice as long as they should have. The yolk was crumbly it was so overdone. They seemed to try hide the lack of avocado with cucumber and tomato underneath the egg. My husband had the club sambo which had 2 small pieces of shredding chicken and that’s about it. We left feeling totally ripped off, would not recommend.

To be honest, I have been coming to this cafe on and off for the last 8ish years. Unfortunately the service has gotten worse over this time. The attitude of the owner is so bad that she does not care about the customers concerns when addressed. The food is alright, but it is just general everyday menu and has not been changed or updated in a while. It's unfortunate, but I will no longer visit this establishment.

This is honestly the best pancake with cheese I have ever had in my life. I make my own pancakes but none will ever compare to these. They didn't save on the syrup “from Gils” either: got 2. See photo for results. Completely muttered.

My husband and I just arrived to Amsterdam and stopped in for lunch. Lovely cafe that has inside and outside tables that are both on the canal and on the sidewalk. The menu has both breakfast and lunch options it’s not an extensive menu but all the basics are there. We both had the club sandwich which was served with potato chips. The sandwich had fresh veggies with a light dressing and chicken, very tasty and a pretty large sandwich. Chips were good and not much salt which I prefer. After the meal we had 2 coffees and sat and people watched and talked for a while. Good experience and tasty fresh food in a small coffee house.
