A cozy café with delicious, high-quality coffee. The bookshelves are also inviting for browsing. We went there because a nearby café was incredibly noisy. Books & Coffee, on the other hand, was pleasantly quiet and had a cozy atmosphere.

We visited this place based on the reviews. We were disappointed; the coffee wasn't the best. As soon as we finished our drinks and food, everything was immediately removed from our table; it felt like we were being told to leave.

Really nice and cosy place in Groningen

I actually like this cafe but the last time when I visited, I ordered a sandwich with feta cheese. It was really bad. Only the traces of feta cheese, a very thin slice of cucumber and mainly bread. And they charged 7.50 euros for that! That's why I was very dissapointed. Drink coffee there, eat desert but don't buy any other food. And to be fair I must say that people working there are nice.

A pleasant student café: the combination of café and bookstore is very successful. The service is extremely friendly. However, the coffee is mediocre at best: the cappuccino tasted more like a latte.

Had a lovely hot chocolate and tea here, the service was quick and the servers were kind and happy to help with recommendations. It's a cozy place, but the downside is the tables are so close together that when it's crowded it gets pretty noisy and difficult to chat.

A wonderful coffee shop that embodies the word gezellig. They have great matcha latte and the best chai latte we've ever had. The drinks and pastries were perfect and the ability to browse books while enjoying our beverages added to the experience and overall atmosphere of the shop. The staff were all friendly and efficient.

A wonderful café right next to the university in Groningen's city center. The coffee is excellent, and there's a very good selection of different beans and coffee specialties. We also really liked the book selection. The café is beautifully designed, and we'll definitely be back on our next visit. Of course, we couldn't leave without buying some books :) We loved the selection.

The cups were already warm when the coffee arrived, such a small detail, but it makes a huge difference in the taste. The espresso had a full, smooth flavor without any bitterness. This is such an adorable place! They have great matcha, tasty pastries and delicious cheesecake. I love the atmosphere, being surrounded by books. Good to know: this is not a place for working, it is to go for a break or talk with friends. They don’t allow laptops most of the time.

We sat outside and enjoyed a lovely flat white with a delicious creamy cheesecake. The atmosphere is also great. The service was also very friendly. In short: fantastic!

I decided to pop in here after breakfast cause I was craving a matcha latte. It's near the university which I think adds to the charm. Wasn't busy at all but that could be because it's raining out but still a nice spot. Didn't try the pastries cause I was still too full from breakfast. Next time.

They don’t allow laptops in certain hours (actually most of the time). Zero flexibility even if the place is empty. Terrible seats. Can break your back. So uncomfortable.

It took a long time before someone came to help us outside at the table. For the price you pay, you could have had a cookie.

l love this place, their bakery is continuously changing so there is always something new to taste, which is nice! For coffee, you have several options but l do not understand why always 2 types of beans on the menu, it makes the first impression on you that there are several several options for beans but no only 2 + 1 decaf option… Still good quality coffee 👍

They have this rule (I haven’t seen in other countries) they don’t allow laptops after 11am. The place was empty and we asked for AM exception but they refused.

Coffee station is a very nice place for a coffee when you are in town, they also sell tasty specialty coffee beans, although they are roasted a bit on the dark side.

Very friendly service! I accidentally ordered a chai latte with regular milk so I asked the staff if she could make it with oat milk and she remade it without hesitation and was very friendly about it! My compliments for the pleasant service and the drink.

Stopped in for a latte to go. It was ok, but I'm a coffee snob who roasts my beans and grinds just before I pull an espresso. Their beans were fresher than other places I went to, but the latte was a bit drowned in milk. It might have been my fault for not asking for an extra espresso shot - local customs and all. The inside of the shop was beautiful and is clearly popular, as it is always filled up. When we went there were some wonderful dogs napping while their humans were chatting over coffee, which was so nice!

I like the place and the coffee but you need to wait around 20min until you get for coffee. You need to go with a LOT of time, service super slow!

Had a nice coffee, but when paying I couldn't use the Lutje Lokaal card where they are registered. Could have been explained more politely.

Upon entering, I asked politely if there was another table, and there was one. After I took my seat, I was greeted again. Unfortunately, the people who came after me were helped earlier and after 15 minutes of staring I just gave up. Tourists not welcome😆.

Best place for pastries. Every day they rotate their menu. The coffee is also very nice, but don’t forget to have a cinnamon role with it! Friendly staff, great location, can get busy sometimes. Perfect for a break in the middle of the day.

Best coffee we had in Groningen! Our oat flat whites were delicious. The cake portions are very generous and at a fair price. The chocolate ganache in the chocolate cake was very tasty and peculiar, a perfect layer for the heaviness of the sponge cake. The cheesecake tasted too lemony in my opinion and the top cream layer is unnecessary. It was well-baked with a cinnamon and lemony layer of biscuit base. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. There are different tables and the space is long. It gets busy but it has a nice youthful buzz.

It was a nice little place, coffees were also pretty decent, the menu was quite unique but the iced Americano I got there was sadly not my taste but the others which had hot beverage liked their coffees

So what and a say. Firstly I have no complaints at all. It’s been a while since I decided to leave a review and honestly it’s because there is no point to leave a review for my favourite cafe in Groningen. My go to spot for incredible coffee, an amazing atmosphere and the perfect place to meet with friends, take my journal sit, sit in a corner and have some me time while not being so alone. The staff are amazing, kind and welcoming. It is the northern vibe of relaxed. There is no rush. You can sit down and just decompress while just living life. There is laughter, happiness and pure joy and you can feel that when you walk through the doors. So yes there in my mind is no need for a review as there is nothing wrong with this amazing little cafe that is my spot amongst a city of cafes.

Tried 3 coffees and a cheesecake, all were amazing. The best one I had in the Netherlands. Special mention to the server Jula (hope I'm writing her name right), she made the visit very fun. we ended up visiting twice in the same day. A definite recommendation to all coffee lovers.

Delicious drinks, including the sandwiches, but, for me personally, the sauce in the sandwich could have been a little less sweet. The sandwiches are well filled and look nice. Everything very Instagram worthy. Nice bar in front of the window, where you can watch the world go by. Very nice and attentive staff!

The cheesecake was the best cheesecake I've ever had. The coffee is also good and the lemonade was very refreshing. The staff even helped us get the wheelchair into the café since there is a step. Very kind and helpful people. Thank you!

It was a small and somewhat cosy place, but it was kind of weird. Never in my life have I gone to a café where they didn't have any syrups. They had some liquid cane sugar thing, but that's it. They also only use oat milk, when everywhere else I've been, they offer oat, almond, coconut, and soy. Strange experience, but the iced matcha latte wasn't bad. Although they give it to you in a big glass that's only a little more than half full, so that was sad and a little strange. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but I wouldn't be against it, either.

I go here very often as I have my office around the corner and I like to meet there with colleagues or just enjoy a cup of matcha. They do a good, affordable matcha latte, that is, if they have matcha. They regularly run out of it and then it takes a month before they have new supply, which seems to me just bad business. Normally staff are really nice, but there is this one guy who is just not cut for customer friendliness, which is also confirmed in other reviews. I understand the laptop policy to some extent when having people with laptops only take one drink in hours, which is not very respectful to the establishment. I do think there are other, more customer-friendly methods that are also respectful to the business. But then, even when I respected the laptop policy and came with my e-reader (not a laptop! not even an iPad!) to read a book, it became a big argument with that waiter with arguments that do not make a lot of sense. An e-reader is actually more like a book than a laptop, on which I can write a few notes. In a place where people sit all the time with binders and notebooks to write, and even books to read as it is a book-friendly café, an e-reader should be ok too since the activity is just the same. Instead I was forced (and am still forced) to read my book on my phone. It is such a shame because the atmosphere is otherwise great and I know that staff is doing their best, although sometimes I also sit there without being acknowledged by a waiter for a very long time.

Quite a discovery A very cozy cafeteria next to the university, where you can quietly enjoy a good coffee and some very appetizing sweets. The carrot cake is especially recommended.
