Fantastic place to eat. The traditional food is on point. We have thoroughly enjoyed this place. They were extremely accommodating as we didn't have a reservation (highly recommend that you do).. They went out of their way to make us comfortable until a table became available. Love, love, love this place! And try their beer, it's great!

Cozy seating in this tiny restaurant. We made a reservation through The Fork and were seated upstairs. The service was friendly and fast. The food was delicious. My husband chose the mashed potatoes with sausage and bacon (you can also choose a meatball or stew). I went for the chicken satay, which didn't disappoint either. The Dutch music wasn't really our thing, but that's okay. The desserts were also delicious.

Best stamppot in Amsterdam. So good we came here 2 nights in a row.. if you are in the area come here and have the stamppot with everything... It will be the best thing you eat here.. place is lovely, staff are lovely. It will be our go to place everytime we are here.

Thank you Kop van Jut! A wonderful culinary discovery with their typical sausage and cabbage dish; it was delicious and hearty (perfect with the all-inclusive option for an extra €7.50). The hosts are very welcoming and always smiling, and the cozy atmosphere kept us very warm.

4.5 stars rather good Dutch food? The mash in the stamppot was well blended and the meat (7.50 for each type) was really worth the price. loooved how juicy the sausage was, meatball was a little drier but still palatable. the beef all over was tender too and the gravy went well with everything. the bitterballen (dk what I was expecting a bitter ball??) is so YUM, it’s got a crispy exterior and creamy, meaty roux in the middle ah omg I love it. definitely the standout for me. overall, a great place to visit for traditional Dutch fare, and cosy atmosphere too. too bad we got the good old water trap. ‘can I start u off with water?’ and we nodded and she charged us 2 euro each. can’t even be mad.

Really comforting and delicious traditional food. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the restaurant itself is so cosy. Lovely spot for a nice dinner and good atmosphere atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

Authentic Dutch food. Endive stew with bacon, meatball, and smoked sausage. I could have used a bit more bacon and gravy, but my table companions' was more than enough. The meatball was fine but not overly flavorful, but the smoked sausage, on the other hand, was delicious. The male server was very friendly and cheerful.

This is a very cozy bar and Dutch restaurant. I highly recommend the bean soup, especially in the cold winter. The kale mashed potatoes and meatballs are also delicious, though the sauce was a little bland. The mussels were fresh and delicious!

So quaint and felt authentically wonderful! Just a perfect spot to not feel like a tourist, but visiting friends or family in Amsterdam. Highly recommend the Stamppot in your favorite flavor.

The staff is very nice but the food is mediocre. I had the set menu 3 courses with an extra side of cauliflower and a beer. The main course schnitzel meat tasted off. It was nice and crispy and just ok. NOT for accessible challenged patrons as the toilets are upstairs.

A typical spot to discover Dutch specialties (stamppot, soup, stew, etc.) served in generous portions at reasonable prices. The apple crumble with vanilla ice cream and raisins is delicious. The staff is friendly and the service efficient. As the two dining rooms are quite small, reservations are recommended.

It's an authentic restaurant. Small, barely a couple of meters wide, but with very friendly staff. You can go there with the family and you eat well! The typical desserts are brutal

I ordered an endive stew with a meatball through Uber Eats. Unfortunately, the meatball was very dry and had an unpleasant, stale meaty flavor, as if cheap or old meat had been used. The stew was also bland and unappetizing, practically inedible. So I took the food back to the restaurant myself (cycling through the city) to return it. The chef then offered to give me a "freshly made meatball," but honestly, I expected to have already received one with my order... I found that a bit odd, don't you think? Did I receive an old, not fresh meatball? They did, however, immediately refund me the full amount, which I thought was very kind. Especially when you order Dutch stew in Amsterdam at a restaurant known for it, it's extra disappointing that such a simple dish can be so poorly prepared. That's why I'm deliberately not giving one star, because the service and handling were excellent. But unfortunately the quality of the food was very disappointing.

🚫👎🏼| FAKE TOURIST TRAP Let me tell you the average experience you will get Kop Van Jut : • A smart smiling man will approach you and convince you • 30+ dishes proposed and all « Typical dutch » unique in NL… • Bottle of water directly in your table, you can’t refuse it or ask for tapwater • FREE vegan schnitzel (from a supermarket) but then +2.5€ on your check 😉 • The meat is hard, supermarket fries, basic for a non basic price Avoid this restaurant, they are so ashamed by what they offer that they send a kid give you the check… One last story, when in the street we stopped by because a couple was taking a drink at the window it looked nice, at the end of our meal the owners joined this couple to chat : they are friends with them 🤔

My wife and I are inAmsterdam for a getaway pleasure week I wanted to eat good Dutch food. I did my research and Kop Van Jut kept coming up as the place to go in Leidseplein. Well it was an amazing restaurant. The food was amazing, the staff was amazing. Any time you are in a restaurant that has more locals than tourists you know it is great. I highly recommend going to Kop Van Jut for some great food, atmosphere and service don’t walk but run to Kop Van Jut!!

De Kop van Jut feels like my living room. Always a warm welcome, always hot food, always a warm welcome. Highly recommended for anyone looking for Dutch hospitality. It's a shame my grandmother passed away, otherwise I wouldn't have dared to say this, but the meatballs at De KvJ are the best ever!

I wasn't too thrilled. The food was decent, the street is nice, the place average. I especially didn't like the service. The girl took my water away from me while I was drinking it because I'd finished eating and wanted to clear the table. But there was no line, and she did it even though I'd left her a tip, so it definitely wasn't due to that.

A must go place to eat whilst in Amsterdam. Food and service were both amazing, but the atmosphere.. well I could have just stayed there all night !

The food here is really delicious and full of flavor. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, cozy and welcoming. The staff are very friendly, attentive, and always ready to give recommendations or check if everything is okay. I truly enjoyed my experience here and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal.

Can try it if you want to taste dutch food. Found the sauces a bit expensive 6 euro for apple sauce which was mentioned would come with the steak but was charged extra.

Homely place with Dutch food. We tried the Bitterballen which were very good. However, the information about what was included in the different dishes was not entirely clear, so there were a few double orders... but overall really worth a visit

This two story restaurant is a hidden gem that we stumbled on tonight when looking for a more traditional Dutch experience. From the very first greeting we knew we had made the correct choice. The staff were amazing, friendly but professional. The menu had a great selection and our waiter was not hesitant in confirming our choices. Kop von Jut offers a uniquely traditional Dutch experience in a vibrant space. Highly recommended.

A very cozy cafe. You definitely get your money's worth: nice, generous portions. And very tasty. And then the service: fantastic. No fuss, very friendly, and if there's time and space, they're happy to chat with you. We will definitely be back!

Definitely a tourist trap. The food was alright enough, though very simple and quite overpriced. The real distressing thing was the water. At first, they attempted to scam us by selling us a bottle of tap water for 6 euros, by just asking if we wanted water- I only spotted the price in the bottle as the server walked away. As we obviously weren’t having that, we asked for tap water and were told we were NOT ALLOWED TAP WATER unless we bought a drink, despite paying for the expensive meal anyway. We declined, and poured our own tap water into the glasses already on the table. When they spotted this the seemingly helpless child serving us basically forced us to get a drink. Overall we felt very scammed and aggressed.

We visited three nights in a row for beef stew and stamppot. It was excellent!

We had another delicious meal at De Kop van Jut on Friday evening. The food was delicious (we had mussels, schnitzel, and the Amsterdam temptation). We had a great time with the enthusiastic chef, the friendly staff who sang along to the Dutch music, and other helpful staff. We arrived early, and after us, it filled up quickly with both national and international customers. Highly recommended!

Great place to try some traditional Dutch cuisine. The staff are really helpful and will give you wonderful menu suggestions. And only being 10 minutes away from the Museum square it is a great place to stop after visiting

Overrated and overpriced. This place serves Dutch cuisine, yet they don’t even offer Dutch wine. The wine list is extremely limited, and instead of providing regular filtered water, they charge €6! for a bottle. Even by Amsterdam “standards”, that’s outrageous. And as for the waffles with apples — that’s just ridiculous. It can hardly be called a real dish. You might as well take two store-bought hard waffles, shove a few apple slices between them, and microwave it for two minutes — the result would be the same.

A quiet place with typical Dutch food, beer, and fast, friendly service. The pea soup was delicious (more like puree than soup), the croquettes were topped with mustard (which I love), and the beef stew with mashed potatoes was wonderful. Well served. Delicious.

The food is salty, over-spiced, and overpriced given its simplicity in terms of ingredient and cooking method. Moreover, I made a reservation via TheFork, who said to offer a discount, but there was no discount when I paid the bill

€17:50 for the worst mash potatoes and a single meatball that tasted like it was cooked in a microwave, don’t actually know what was worse the meatball or the crime they committed against mashed potatoes! honestly if you’re looking for a decent meal, anywhere but here! Also spider webs everywhere under the staircase so god only knows when this establishment was last cleaned. If I could I’d give this place a 0 stars!

Although we made a reservation for 2-3 weeks, when we went, they acted like they were hearing about the reservation concept for the first time and then tried to seat us at the bar table. We kindly went to one of the few empty tables. Although tomato soup was on the menu, it was not available. We had chicken soup and steak with mushrooms. The food was delicious, but I cannot say that we were satisfied with the service at all.
