It's been a long time since I've tried the authentic flavor of Mexico 🥹 I was fascinated by the atmosphere and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend the mole and the cochinita pibil tacos, I was even more eager to try more dishes. I will definitely be back.

Been there today the second time and the food is simply delicious and authentic. I’ve tried the tacos, quesadillas and enchiladas and it’s was delicious. I can only recommend it for everyone!

Good food and good service. Prices are typical Dutch prices (don't think North American inexpensive Mexican, but this is a specialty food in Netherlands). Portions are big and filling. Trully some of the best Mexican food I have had this side of the Atlantic. Smoking (break) table right outside the front door, so expect to share their cigarette smoke when they leave the door open. No outdoor seating. Not dog friendly. If you are craving the taste of Mexican this I do recommend this place.

Very attractive restaurant, nicely decorated. We have upstairs (right with the entrance) but there is also a basement where there seems to be a lot of room.

Excellent restaurant. We enjoyed the authentic Mexican dishes. The menu offers sufficient choice of both dishes and drinks. I loved the non-alcoholic mojito. The dishes chosen were more than sufficient and tasty. Service was also perfect... very friendly... At dinner parties, the total experience is very important to us...and that was very good this time. We had announced that we were going to the theater after dinner. The timing was excellent...we didn't even have to ask for the bill...it was brought to us on time, but without haste. We never felt rushed. Despite the presence of a large group, we received sufficient attention... and we were interested and asked several times whether the food tasted good and was sufficient... whether we would like something to drink. Don't expect high-level dishes...but tasty, authentic Mexican food. We would love to come back!

The owner is 100% Mexican and has years of experience, and you can really taste that in every dish - so tasty and authentic! What makes it extra special is that they want to share their culture with everyone. They regularly organize Mexican parties, such as Día de Muertos and Mexico's National Day. If you want authentic Mexican food, this is it. Mexican certified! Ale the owner greeted us, asked if food was alright and showed us around. The place is amazing and the food, super tasty. We had tacos, flautas and clamacheve, no regrets on the 1,5 hr drive from Arnhem to eat here.

I’m a Mexican and I loved the food, of course is not surprising as the chef is Mexican as well! We tried the tacos, flautas and quesadillas, and everything was delicious and for a very reasonable price. Portions are good as well. We had never eaten at a Mexican restaurant before and wanted something different. From starter to dessert, everything was very tasty. The Mexican beer and cocktails made it complete. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is informal. You feel nice and at ease here. Definitely worth repeating for us :)

There is dust everywhere. I was with my husband, we sat in a corner behind the coffee maker, there is just a thick layer of dust. At the entrance there is a broken refrigerator on top of another refrigerator, really super atmospheric, I don't understand why you think something like that looks inviting... Very disappointed as it was never such an unsavory affair when I went to eat before the takeover. I'm genuinely curious why the current owner doesn't see that it all looks very dingy. Bah.

We had a very nice and delicious evening here! It was our friend's birthday and she was put in the spotlight! We were surprised by having all kinds of starters and main courses served on the table. It tasted good! Then a tasty dessert and a delicious aged tequila. Service was very friendly. We had a great evening!

I went to eat with my family and my 4 year old daughter, we waited for the food for 1 hour, TERRIBLE. A table that arrived after us got their tickets first. We only paid for the drinks and left.I would never return to this place nor recommend it. And on top of that, they wanted to charge us the full bill with the food, how shameless they are. We left upset.

Authentic Mexican food! Everything is absolutely delicious, the pozole and the Barbacoa tacos are simply the best. This is hands down the best Mexican food you will find in Europe. I am Mexican and I totally recommend it to anyone visiting the area. We will be back soon :)

La Cabrona (formerly El Sotana) changed owners about a year ago. We notice little difference. The service is just as friendly and the food just as tasty. We were afraid that we would have to miss this restaurant, but we are happy that it has been taken over.

We showed up at the restaurant around 9:30 p.m. and the kitchen was closing. Since we had a customer with us, the team kindly agreed to cook something for us. The staff was super friendly and the food was fresh and very delicious. A very family friendly restaurant with very tasty food. Highly recommended! Thank you very much again for the great evening and the top service.

Great Mexican restaurant in the centre of Roermond. It comes closest to what you would get in Mexico, compared to other European Mexican restaurants! (Which I've eaten at of course) Food is good, they have nice cocktails as well!

I wish you couldn't give stars. Service inattentive. Food questionable and inadequate. No taste, if then too spicy, the tortillas we were given with our meal were so hard that they fell apart. New ones were ordered, which could also only function as crackers and then the whole fun was charged for, and when asked, the staff was unreasonable and rude. At the beginning we got a plate of dips for 5 people, when we reordered we were charged every time and with every meal there were actually dips!!!! NOT RECOMMENDABLE.

Overpriced. Coming from Amsterdam for a weekend the prices are equal to the best taco place I know. Except here the quality, quantity and price ratio is not matching at all. 25 euros for 4 tacos are unjustifiably too much for dry tacos in a small town…

Mexican born and raised, I can definitely recommend this restaurant, the closest thing to having an authentic Mexican culinary experience, with great ambience and excellent service.

Heerlijke smaak! Absolutely authentic Soulfoid! We will be back! Big portion…. Everything fresh and very tasty! Not too spicy but you can add more pepper with original Mexican sauces! The absolute must is the coffee with Kahlua and tequila... Woohoooooo

Very cozy Mexican restaurant, located between the pig market and the rudder quay. Beef tenderloin with garlic and the grilled corn were tasty. The wine from Spain was easy to drink and the cocktail afterwards was refreshing after the delicious dinner.

We were out and about in Roermond today and after a long walk we were really hungry. I took a quick look at Google and quickly found what I was looking for, quickly checked reviews and the decision was made. How did the store get such a good rating? -Food is just average, even a good bit below. -Staff not really able to communicate. The menu only came after a quarter of an hour -Ordered food and now? Apparently our order was simply thrown away, the food came after almost 2 hours, after repeated requests - and not correctly and not completely! What came from the restaurant? “Sorry, Kitchen is very busy” and there were only 15 people in the shop who were already eating or were eating when we came in. And THAT at the prices that are being asked for - simply outrageous and extortionate! Conclusion: Our foot will not set foot in the store again. Because the store still gets a recommendation: we do NOT recommend eating there!

How do the 4.5☆ come about? We waited almost 2 hours for the food!! Afterwards, instead of a burger, spare ribs were simply served. The sauces were forgotten. We ate there with 5 people. Unfortunately none of us can recommend this restaurant.

I've never been to such a bad restaurant. The food was so-so and way too expensive for the quality. Service wasn't the best either and you had to wait over an hour for your food. With two hungry children, not an advantage. When we asked where the food was, we were told that they hadn't started yet because we had a starter and they only started with the main course when the starter had been cleared away. Staeter was for two, but there were four of us, we said that the children wanted to eat straight away and the starter was left empty on the table for at least 15 minutes until it was cleared away. Nobody had told us that the service worked like this. Unfortunately not recommended in any way.

We had little time before a cinema screening. And as we had to wait almost 40 minutes to be served we had to eat very quickly. But everything was very good.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this Mexican restaurant and I must say it was a real delight. From the moment I walked through the door I felt like I had just landed in Mexico. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, as were the staff. They were attentive and made us feel comfortable throughout our visit. But what really stood out was the food. Each dish was rich in flavor and represented Mexican cuisine in an authentic way. You could tell that every dish was prepared with love and care. I can highly recommend this restaurant. It's the perfect place to take some time out and enjoy the delicious flavors of Mexico. I can't wait to go back there. Bottom line: If you're looking for an authentic Mexican experience, look no further. This restaurant is a must!

I ate in the restaurant last weekend, I loved the enviroment, and the food is 100% accurate mexican food, the carnitas tacos are delicious and you can't miss out the michelada, is the best I had!

Honestly, I didn't expect such a cool service. We arrived half an hour before closing, the very polite lady said they were going to close soon and that maybe it wouldn't be possible. I said that my girlfriend had been there for years, she said come in, don't worry, and closed the restaurant just for us. They left us at ease, continuing to be nice to us. The food was great, very good service and at the end they even gave us free rice. When we were getting up to pay, a very interesting dessert came with a small rocket and they started singing happy birthday to my girlfriend. It was a rural moment that gave us, once again, a big thank you!!

(Review has been adjusted after the arrival of new owners) I really enjoyed coming to this restaurant before it changed name and owner, but the familiar flavors are absent. The food is fine, but I don't make a special appearance for it anymore, which was the case before. The chicken fajitas have deteriorated greatly. It no longer comes with refried beans or rice included, and the other toppings are laughably scanty (two tablespoons of guacamole for two people to share). I also noticed that the preparation method has changed. Previously, the fajitas came in a cast iron pan in which it was actually prepared. This time the pan was small, and the white, uninspired chicken was piled high in it. It was a huge disappointment compared to the fajitas from before. Good food, but just nothing special.

La Cabrona has recently changed owners, which has added all kinds of new exciting dishes (the enchiladas were delicious), and the atmosphere and hospitality are still as excellent as with the previous owners. I would recommend La Cabrona to everyone, and will certainly continue to visit again!

Is good to find a proper mexican restaurant, outside México people think that the burritos and nachos is the only mexican food but that is not the case (actually that is tex mex food) in reality the tacos are with small tortillas (normally is meat plus onions and coriander plus an spice sauce and that's it, which is what you find here, in the Netherlands is not easy to get all the ingredients so I kind understand the price eventhough is a little high. The tortillas and "totopos" (tortillas fried chips) are home made so that is a plus. The owner is very friendly and hard worker and the waitress are polite and are checking regularly on you. So, I recommend to go and try the tacos, ask for spicy sauces. I wish sucess to the restaurant and the owner.

A good chance to try and experience true Mexican flavors in well served dishes. Dinning in a nice and cozy place. I had the Chicken mole, it came with beans tacos and red Mexican rice. A sweet and savory dish. I am personally more inclined for my mother's spicier mole, but La cabrona's mole would hold its right place in any Pueblan restaurant. The drinks was the best surprise! The clamachela is authentic Mexican michelada! Tasty, fresh and delicious! I enjoyed a really nice evening eating and drinking with my friends here! Would recommend!

If only I had read the bad reviews beforehand. Service was fine, but all the dishes we had were not tasty. You can complain about this, but how are they going to solve this? Before the owner responds to my review. Maybe you should first look at the food coming out of your kitchen. It tastes like it looks. You can only solve this by sending the kitchen brigade home. Someone may not like something, but this has nothing to do with that. How dare they send this kind of dishes from the kitchen. I would start cooking with fresh produce instead of reheated junk. I will not recommend anyone in my area to eat here. After the restaurant's response: I see that you always have to respond to bad customer reviews. Your story is always the same by passing it on to the customer. In other words, it's because of the customer. The fact that you do this says enough, but you don't realize it yourself. But it's better to put your energy into running your kitchen. Honestly check out other restaurants to see how they cook and what they serve before attacking a paying customer. My reviews are honestly my experiences of restaurants that I have visited. Fortunately, there are a lot of them that I have visited who know their trade and where I regularly enjoy themselves. I will skip your restaurant with a smile.

A tastefully decorated and pleasant place. The waiters are very willing and friendly. The unfortunate food is bland, it doesn't have the Mexican flavor (barbecue tacos and chicken fajitas). The accompaniments are minimal in both diversity and quantity, just guacamole (no lemon or cilantro) and beans, without any salsa or pico de gallo. I would dare say that the squid are packaged, chewy and bland. I do recommend the “mini” potato flautas and I applaud the flavor of the only sauce that accompanied the nachos. They take a long time to come out of the kitchens, the wait was exasperating. The price is excessive for what they presented to us. Maybe for European tastes it will be fine but for those who know and appreciate Mexican food it is disappointing. And finally I suggest that you have some letters in English. I really wish you success and that the comments that you consider not encouraging are taken with an open mind and with the purpose of making improvements and shining with one of the best cuisines in the world, full of flavors and aromas.

The service and atmosphere (especially downstairs) are great, but if you've ever been to Mexico, eaten authentic mexican food, or expect any spice or heat in your meal, you will be disappointed. The guac was good and the margarita tasty, but the mole tastes like barbecue sauce, the beef in the burrito was bland, the sour cream was a form of ranch dressing and the salsa tastes a lot like ketchup. The place however was full and people seemed happy...

The vegetables float in the oil and are overcooked🤮. Fortunately, you can wash everything away with the wine, after we have tried to salvage something with salt and chili sauce that is on the table☝🏻. There is now a new owner, but he knows how to serve the meat just as dry as the previous one👀😭. We have now been there a total of 4 times, to give it a chance, but this was really the last time😡. Despite the service, they are very nice and friendly. Too bad !

What a unique restaurant! This Mexican restaurant has had a new owner since the end of last year. It already looks strikingly colorful from the outside with its red painted facade cladding. When you step inside, you are in a different world with orange walls, blue walls, mosaic statues, old photos from Mexico, sombreros. It has a small bar and the restaurant itself is not very large, but that makes it cozy and cozy with the colorful decor. There is a lot of atmosphere. When we got there at 6pm it was busy and when we went the restaurant was full. We were welcomed by the friendly host Paul who suggested us some drinks and explained the menu and had a chat. We ate three courses and it was very tasty. The Fajitas and Enchiladas were delicious and the cheesecake was a good ending. The prices are fair. Do you want something different than a 'normal' restaurant? Do you want cozy and atmospheric and, above all, delicious Mexican food? Then definitely go here. In any case, we would love to come back :). An asset to the city.

Had dinner at La Cabrona with the family on a Friday evening. The restaurant was pleasantly full. We were assigned a table in the beautiful vaulted cellar (the staff here works on their fitness, always going up and down the stairs 😉). The starters were served quickly and were very tasty. A dinner of only starters wouldn't be a bad idea either! The main courses at La Cabrona are also of a high authentic quality. Certainly not comparable to the Mexican packet dishes that you can buy in the supermarket, so be open to real Mexican flavors (such as chicken with mole). There was actually no room left for dessert... but what we got from the kids tasted good. We will definitely come back! If we can give the Mexican chef a tip: "walk even less the Dutch-Mexican path and follow your heart"! We are curious about even more real flavors from Mexico.
