Quite expensive for what you get

Ladybird Fried Chicken is a solid place for anyone who loves bold, crispy fried chicken. The wings were generously coated in sauce, and packed with flavour, while the chicken sandwich was hearty and satisfying. The mac and cheese, kimchi-style side, cornbread, and dipping sauce made the meal even better. They have hot wing challenge great fun for anyone who enjoys testing their heat tolerance. Their Wednesday wings deal is also excellent value and a perfect excuse to bring friends and try a few different flavours. The portions are generous, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the food is ideal for sharing.

I was craving some fried chicken. Stopped in here for lunch. I got the Ladybird chicken burger. OMG it was huge and delicious. I talked with the owner and found out he was from Brooklyn. No wonder it tasted like home to me. I also got the sweet tea. I cant recommend this place enough if you want some amazing fried chicken. KFC and popeyes dont even come close to how great this place is.

Saw this spot on a YouTube video and thought, let's give it a try. The chicken is really deliciously tender and well-seasoned. The cornbread was tasty too. The service is fine, not over the top. Just typing this makes me crave the chicken burger again; in short, a success.

Had a wonderful time here with my friends today the hostess and owner were amazing and so kind and accommodating. After our group requested we sit inside after originally being outside and a bee flew into my drink. They were helpful in relocating to their upstairs area. The spicy fried chicken was very flavorful and I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

Best fried chicken i have ever had. Chicken well seasoned, not greasy and chicken is from high quality. Frites crispy but also fluffy from the inside. Definitely will come back!

Not great,the fried chicken is very generic and bland ,the mac and cheese side dish is just some over cooked maccheroni pasta with cream and some cheap cheese, everything served on a baking tray with a sheet of paper that soaks in chicken fat and sticks to your food.not worth the price

Downright dismal. No, really. I have nothing good to say about this place and I hate to admit that. I know how popular it is. The chicken wasn't juicy but SOTTERED. Soggy, guys. The coating didn't stick, it fell off completely, and the chicken underneath looked like wet newspaper. No texture. Furthermore, the sides: the mac and cheese was likewise soggy and way too runny, with very little cheese flavor. The collard greens were actually the best of it all: absolute mediocrity. Maybe we went on a bad day, that's certainly possible, but it was SO bad that I'm not inclined to try it again. A real shame.

The chicken is im(peck)able. I’ve inly ever gotten take away and that took quite long and was sometimes quite frustrating and out of the hands of the staff. However the food is really really good, the chicken is fried to perfection and the sides are classic. All in all: really nice food.

You get a lot of chicken on the bone wich wasn't greasy nor dry the seasoning was spot on when I'm back in Amsterdam I'll definetly come back.

The food wasn't bad, but perhaps I had too high expectations. The staff was very friendly, though. The only downside, in my opinion, was that my table was a bit sticky.

(Why don't you have a quality control) this was my review one year ago because sometimes the food is super good and other time it's oily especially at the rush hour. But I've been to the restaurant more often this year and I think this problem has been solved. To be honest, Ladybird is the best friend chicken in Amsterdam without a doubt, regardless of prices, especially the sauces. The staff are very friendly. And the place is clean and gives a nice vibe. And shout out to the one who is responsible for playing music, your musical taste is great.

Delicious food, polite service, but very small

A cute place to eat delicious chicken, though I wouldn't recommend the basic chicken tenders as they were a bit dry and I prefer juicy, but totally recommend the bigger ones, forgot how they were called (but you can see them on the top pf the picture). Absolutely adored the corn and the drinks! Lovely staff

Chicken was super dry :( had the burger and my gf had some wings and were both left disappointed. Their J&T sauce with the wings wasn’t spicy and more akin to ketchup. The burger overall very underwhelming. Service was nice

Absolutely loved this place! We took on the Fight for Your Life hot wings challenge and were surprised by how manageable it was. We finished all 10 wings within the time limit and even made it through the 10-minute no-drink period without much trouble. Winning the combo for free made it even better! The wings were crispy, flavorful, and seriously spicy, but definitely beatable if you enjoy hot food. The staff were friendly, honored the challenge exactly as promised, and made the whole experience fun. We’ll definitely be back!

I did not enjoy this restaurant's food. I ordered the spicy chicken fingers with fried mushrooms. The meal came with cornbred. I'm from the US and I guess I have high standards for fried chicken. The chicken was not properly, according to the traditions of my people (which I assume this restaurant is trying unsucessfully to emulate), prepared spiced before frying. Instead the chicken, to which the breading barely adhered, was sprinkled with paprika or something similar. It was ghastly. I only ate a two of the five pieces. The fried mushrooms were good. The cornbread was extremely bland to my palate and tasted like something I could get from a box back home. If you're from the US and like chicken, I think you'll be disappointed. The staff were friendly and excellent.

Really good fried chicken, very tasty. We were sad not to be able to get a thigh at all though, wings are not the only dark meat. Mac and cheese, and coleslaw, were great, dirty rice meh. Also decent cornbread, but the smallest serving ever seen. Friendly service, easy location right by the park, this is a winner in this perfect gastronomical neighborhood.

Unwelcoming and rude staff, very low portions , fine taste .

If you're looking for average food served with bizarre rudeness, as if it's about to be thrown in your face, and want to feel so unwelcome, like you're somehow asking for a free meal, this is absolutely the place to go in Amsterdam!

I ordered i love wings combo which comes with sweet cornbread and 1 side dish(i took coleslaw) - it was actually very tasty. It’s just a bit weird that sauce is not part of the combo and you need to pay extra 2 eur, but it was very tasty - i recommend you their j&t hot sauce. Service could be a bit faster, cause it was not crowded at all, but still ok

I go here on Wednesday with my friends to get the deal €1 for 2 wings and it’s really nice!! I would recommend going when the restaurant opens around 15:00 because that’s when the fried chicken is fresh and no wait not a table. We went around 19:00 and it was overly greasy. The place gets very loud and crowded towards the evening, if you come with younger children I wouldn’t recommend coming past 17:00. Service is okay.

Why this place isn't packed is beyond me, even though it's a Sunday lunch. Crispy chicken to perfection, real tasty with quick and genuine service! Will easily go back every time I'm in town!

I really expected more from this. We ordered chicken tenders and chicken wings, but there was just very little meat on them. The wings were practically bare, and the tenders consisted mostly of a thick, dry crust instead of chicken. Additionally, the taste was disappointing: we asked for buffalo sauce and extra spicy, but there was absolutely no kick to it. Really very bland. There was also some hassle with the order, and it was handled a bit strangely, which didn't improve the experience. The whole vibe felt a bit weird because of that too. All in all, a real waste of my money. Not recommended. And the tables were dirty and were not cleaned before anyone sat down.

Very delicious food. I ordered the classic lady with mac and cheese for takeout. It was prepared very quickly. The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and the skin was flavorful. The cornbread was also great. The mac and cheese was tasty and fulfilling.

Visited this place after work last night on account of my friend. The best fried chicken I’ve had in a while! Amazing sauces, delicious mac ‘ cheese and rice and beans are staples you cannot pass on. Although the spiciness could have been spicier in my opinion, I would ask to turn up the heat next time. Would definitely come back and will recommend to whoever has ears and working tastebuds!!🫶🏾☺️

Hmm well I'll start by saying the chicken was good, moist and well coated. Seasoning was bland though, they forgot our corn bread, the coleslaw tasted way too much like mayo, the fries were fresh cut, the lemon pepper sauce was more like just pepper and an acidic taste, and the mac and cheese was more like a creamy pasta sauce. Tasted like wheat pasta and not egg pasta also. Maybe we'd go back for the chicken , maaaaybe. Tight squeeze seats to the point where people accidentally knock something off someone elses table by trying to enter or exit their seat. We shuffled our table right and left for the guests next to us to squeeze out so they wouldn't knock over the other tables food. A reminder of why I cook at home 🏡 oooh and that Pecan pie 🥧 doesn't exist on the menu! Only on the website 😞

Very overpriced for what you are getting. It wasn't anything amazing just regular chicken and it was very dry.

I recommend you this place to have the best fried chicken and corn bread ever. We have wings, fried chicken breast, chicken burgers Mac and cheese, coleslaw . Everything was delicious, the chicken is juicy, and full of flavor. The cornbread is sweet and fresh and pair perfectly with the chicken. The prices are according to the portion and the good quality of the meals. I love it!

After seeing the menu, I was really excited to try this place. But this might actually be one of the worst food experiences I have had. The chicken "tenders" were anything but tender. There was hardly any chicken in them either, it was basically breaded and fried slivers of chicken fat, and were very greasy. The corn bread was so dense and overcooked, nothing like any corn bread I have ever had. It was also very bland, which brings me to the Mac & cheese. The only thing that made you think there was cheese in it was the tanginess. It had no taste whatsoever other than tang and pepper.

Food was delicious!! You can taste that it was made with care and experience. You also get more than enough considering the pricing. Went with my two friends and we all enjoyed the food so much including the homemade icetea and homemade lemonade! The girl from the service was very friendly too. Great experience overall.

Our food arrived very quickly. I had a hamburger and forgot to take pictures of the other dishes; overall, we liked both the sauces and the chicken. The waiter was also very attentive. The only downside was that the place was a little cold. The hamburger was 17 euros.

Chicken was very tasty, service was average, 2 euro for ketchup is a complete and utter joke. Apparently, many people complain about this but the owners ignore the feedback. What an annoying thing to see on your bill just before you leave the restaurant, wise up owners!!

Amazing Fried Chicken, I was excited to try Southern American fried chicken and never thought my first experience would be at Amsterdam! The chicken was juicy and hot, and the skin was crunchy, we enjoyed the mac and cheese, coleslaw, fries and rice as well, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, highly recommend!

There were 11 customers inside with us, but the place was so cold that everyone was sitting in their coats. The chicken was extremely oily and not worth the price. The fries were good, but far too salty. The sauces were terrible and definitely not worth 2 euros. We also had to wait a long time for our food. I was really looking forward to trying this place, but it was disappointing.

I visited in October and the chicken was delicious, the tea i had was lovely too. We went early so it was quiet and chill. I will definitely go back on my next trip to Amsterdam.

Worst restaurant in De Pijp. When I asked if they could bring me something pre-cut, the staff got angry and said, "You have your own knife, right?" It was a very friendly atmosphere. The chicken and the rest of the food were extremely dry and inedible.

I was glad that we were able to eat here for New Year's Day. It had good Southern-style food. Everything tasted good. The fried chicken, the collard greens, and the cornbread. We had other items that were good too, but I was focused on the food I named. But this is the spot for good tasty food.

For a place I was looking forward to visiting for a while, the experience was severely underwhelming. We went on a Saturday evening, it was not busy. The interior was very dark, but not in the atmospheric way. Very uninterested waiter seemed to be annoyed we were even there. He looked like he just walked inside from the street, including beanie hat. We were sceptical at this point, but decided to still give it a chance and ordered the spicy classic menu with mac and cheese. The chicken was juicy, but there was no spice at all. It seemed hardly seasoned. And the mac and cheese was lukewarm. When we were finished and the plates were taken away, moments later the waiter (without a word!) places the PIN terminal on our table and leaves again, leaving us staring at the "Add tip?" screen. Really wishing for something positive to say but all around this was an awful experience. We went elsewhere to get some decent food. Props to whoever is running their social media - You really tricked us.

Very pricey! The chicken was tender and crispy. I ordered spicy, but my chicken wasn't spicy at all—not even a little bit. A small, paltry container of sauce costs €2. I found the service terrible: after being served, we weren't asked if everything was to our liking, if it tasted good, or if we wanted to order anything else. Okay, but definitely not something I'd order again.

The employee looked tired and uninterested, the menu papers were old and falling apart, the fries were so salty I couldn’t eat them, the chicken was standard, and I think it’s a bit expensive for this level of quality. They told me food is Halal but there was no sign on the entrace door telling its a Halal restaurant.

Really really really good fried chicken. Amazing cornbread, homemade sauce (the ranch was 10/10) just too bad they don’t give more…ordered a second sauce, maybe that’s the only critique; bigger portions for the sauce! Good chicken but service and atmosphere left us wanting to leave. Wouldn’t recommend given all the other restaurants available in the city. Fix the service and the review would have been positive. Unlikely to return. Service and general experience: 1. Service was really poor. Disengaged and miserable waitress put a downer on the visit. Was uninterested in her job and just wasn’t friendly. First comment as we asked for a table was “we’re closing at 10pm”. This was 1.5 hours away and came across poorly as a first comment in the way she delivered it. Don’t think she smiled once across our whole visit. Could see / hear other tables having issues with service. 2. Cleaning of floors an hour before closing meant we ate whilst smelling bleach. A big no. Smelt like a swimming pool. 3. There’s a security camera above the mirror as you come in which has a really irritably bright light that shines in your eye if you’re sat opposite it. Comes on periodically. 4. Menus were ripped and scruffy. Wouldn’t cost much to print new menus. 5. Think extra portions of ketchup and mayo should either be free or €1 max (€2 was too much for these basic dips) Food: Chicken tenders were juicy, chips nice and good cornbread (which I hadn’t tried before). Good portion size on the tenders which I have seen previous reviews critiqued. Friend thought the portion size on the classic lady was too small.

Unbelievably good, no-frills fried chicken. Portions are generous, especially considering the price, without compromising on quality. The service was also very attentive and friendly.

The chicken was good, but unfortunately the dessert was very disappointing. I expected it to be good as it stated the brownies and pecan pie were homemade. So I was expecting freshly baked desserts. The brownie was solid only a tiny portion of was warm so it had obviously been frozen. Brownies are so simple to make and should be soft and moist.The pecan pie tasted more like chocolate and not pecan. Plus the nuts were soft so most probably it was also frozen. Such a pity ! We were served by a lovely lady and she did advise me to speak to the chef, when I told her the desserts were disappointing. I only told her the desserts cc were disappointing after I had paid the bill. I wasn't looking for discount just wanted to pass on my opinion on them.

We ordered buffalo wings 😮‍💨 didn’t taster like buffalo sauce at all. The homemade ice tea was amazing, I’d go back only for it. The service was not great 😶 the employees seems to hate their job and are not even trying to be polite. Our server wasn't very polite at all. Instead of asking what kind of sauce or what kind of sides we wanted she just said: sauce... side... My chicken was good, but very greasy. There were dark grease stains on my plate. The lemon pepper sauce was gold! Beautiful after taste to it. And the mac and cheese, it was okay. But I could taste the bechamel and didn't have a cheesy taste to it.

Amazing food, the service was really kind also, the food came quick and hot. Definitely would recommend, come a Wednesday to try the wings.

It's a decent fried chicken. Portions are okay but a bit smaller/less than I expected with the price. Tried the Classic Lady and Tenderoni combos. Mac and Cheese and fries were good. The rice was okay, but a small portion of rice for an extra 5 euros is too much. Also with the sauces that cost extra as well. The staff were accommodating and nice. Overall, the experience was okay. Maybe a try-one-time kinda place.

Not a lot of chicken bars in Amsterdam, didn’t blow me away portions are small chicken tasted okeish. Chicken tenders portion not enough for a grown man for 18 euro. Price quantity ratio a bit off. The cole slaw was not good. The chicken breast did look and tasted ok.

Ordered the big titties, the portion size was fine, but it was dry. Friends had burgers, which were better. We discovered afterward that they'd added a 10% "tip" to the bill without asking or us saying so.
