Cozy and friendly French restaurant.

Absolutely delicious seafood! Loved my fried sardines dish, local cat really enjoyed it too ;) It is a bit pricey but we will definitely go back!

Le Forêt has a lovely, cozy ambiance, perfect for a relaxed evening—though Fridays can get crowded. We ordered the fish of the day for two, and it was delicious, clearly the highlight of the experience. However, service was a bit of a letdown. They mentioned recent staffing changes, and it showed: our appetizers, drinks, and even part of the main course were delayed, with some items only arriving after we had to ask again. It’s a shame, as the food itself was well-prepared. Hopefully, they’ll iron out the service issues because the kitchen certainly has potential.

It's okay. For sure overpriced for what it is and the taste is also mediocre. We came on Friday 7pm, and the service was struggling big time, despite the restaurant being 3/4 full. First the servers didn't get to us in 25 min to order, then got my lobster bisque luke warm and had to ask 2x for a spoon by which time it was pretty much cold, taste was also mediocre at best. Then the 45 euro Mac and cheese with Luke warm sided and cold middle..wtf? Also had to reminded the waiters that we had order a bread, which took for ever to come (3 slices for a table of 4...)so yeah I'm okay if people charging above average for a dish but the taste and service is behind big time. Won't come again...

Loved the fish of the day with the dorade and tomatoe salsa! the parsnip crips and puree was also a great surprise in taste. Love the details of the fish carafe or net on lights , and fish candy. the service was also really friendly and quick. the ceviche of seabass was fresh but in taste , a bit bland.

Cozy and cozy restaurant. The fish dishes are prepared in the French way. The food is fine, nothing that surprises you or is special. They use too much salt and a lot of butter for my taste. I thought I tasted a whole block of butter in the celery puree of the seasonal vegetables and that's a shame if you thought you were ordering something healthy with your food. The atmosphere is cozy, cozy and French. The service is nice and the wines are good. I just wouldn't come back for the food, as there are better fish and French restaurants.

Delicious food, compliments to the chefs. Good fresh fish with a pleasant price. Service was friendly and attentive but not intrusive. Definitely worth a repeat visit!

The kitchen was very smelly, making it impossible to sit on the tables next to it. The staff was rather arrogant and not very helpful with requests. Food was alright but definitely not worth the price. Apart from the smell the ambiance was nice, but we definitely won’t return anyway.

Amazing spot! The food was exquisite! The restaurant was a little loud and seemed slightly short staffed but the floor manager handled everything so well. Would highly recommend a visit to this place!

Absolutely great! Had a delicious meal during the pride weekend. Beautiful fish dishes and the service was extremely friendly and interested. The only downside we can think of is that there is little choice of desserts. In short, definitely worth a visit if you like fish.

Second time eating here and it was even better this time. Staff are friendly, food is outstanding, prices are reasonable for this high level of quality.

Went there on a second date and it did not disappoint. Variety of in season seafood options which was great. Highly recommend.

Been a while since we’ve experienced really good service in a restaurant in Amsterdam. Atmosphere and food were great too, but special thanks to the waitress (ps: give her a raise)

The service is top notch, but the price-quality ratio of the food is insufficient as far as I am concerned. The main fish dish and the calamari were on the bland side, while I cook with virtually no salt. The vegetables, on the other hand, were very salty. In terms of space, it was not very warm in the restaurant, and there was a noticeable sewage smell. All in all I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. The prices are too high for the quality.

Delicious food and very nice service. Scallop and mussels were the highlight, really delicious. Sea bass was just not filleted properly. It was very noisy and we could hardly hear each other. Fortunately, a table could be added after the starter. Because with 5 of us at two tables it is simply too cramped. Especially if you want to share dishes and the table becomes full. We will definitely come back, but on a weekday evening, maybe that will help with the noise in the place.

Let Forel has a nice combination of delicious fresh fish, nice and friendly personnel, and true French atmosphere. It was a good choice to book the very first shift as later it can get really loud and noisy. Ordered black cod as main to share couple of starters among which scallops could be a bit better. But amazed by the cod so all the rest tested delicious as well. Cosy area and attentive personnel made it all perfect.

This has the feel of a French bistro. Very refined and dishes that looked amazing... Food was presented to a high standard and they tasted as good as they looked. In a party of 10 the food came out quickly for us all. The monkfish was cooked to perfection. With servings of wedges on the side for the group. Personally I didn't like the butter sauce as it was a little rich for me, but I'm sure it was just the thing for most people. I still enjoyed the fish very much. I really wanted shandy to drink but they don't have lemonade (sorry not very sophisticated I know) but a local beer and a tonic water hit the spot.

Great experience. The food was delicious and looked amazing. Cuisson could have been a bit more on point for most of the dishes. The gnocchi lacked a bit of depth in flavor. But overall a grear experience. Staff was super nice and the atmosphere feels Paris bistro all the way. Would go again!

Celebrating my birthday with the new menu at Le Forel. Amazing new dishes and very good quality and value for money. The POUILLY-FUISSÉ 1ER CRU 2020 CHÂTEAU DU CLOS was amazing too!

Had a wonderful evening at Trout! Food, service and ambiance top! All dishes (kingfish, scallops, monkfish) were delicious, but especially the mussels with vadouvan was my favorite. I'll be back soon!

Le Forel was geweldig! Oud west was al een aanrader, maar de plek is ideaal want het zit aan een klein pleintje waar je naast heerlijk eten ook top mensen kan kijken. De soft shell boa bun en de mosselen echt een aanrader!

Heerlijk gegeten en super lieve bediening! Goede wijn en gezellige sfeer.

Heerlijk gegeten en een top avond gehad!

My husband and I had a delicious dinner paired with a nice wine. We sat outside and enjoyed the ambiance and friendly service.

Wat een geweldige topkok hebben ze bij Le Forel! Het eten wordt een belevenis en een ontdekkingsreis door de manier van bereiden. Nog nooit zo’n smakelijke kabeljauw gegeten en ook de zalm en het nagerecht verdienen speciale vermelding. De bediening is uiterst relaxed maar ook professioneel. We hebben een topavond gehad gisteravond met z’n vieren!

Geweldige gerechten, goeie service en de sfeer was top! Het beste wat je van een visbar verwacht, ik kom zeker terug!!

Topavond bij restaurant Le Forel! 3x 5 sterren, voor mij dan ook een restaurant op Michelinsterren niveau! Ongedwongen sfeer, warme ambiance en eenvoudig maar stijlvol ingericht! Het bewuste feestje wat over je tong heen.......!!!! Mooie verse gerechten die met zorg en smaak voortreffelijk bij elkaar passen! Heerlijke rose uit de Provence erbij was tevens een goed advies bij de pasta met kokkels en kreeftensoep met hollandse garnaaltjes vooraf! Bediening vanTijn, Romy en overigen was top, relaxed; kortom deze kanjers lopen een stuk harder voor jou als klant! Een dikke aanrader dus en zeker niet mijn laatste bezoek aan dit pareltje in Amsterdam Zuid! Smakelijke groeten, Ed Berkhof

Gister avond gegeten bij le forel en dit restaurant is vanaf nu echt een favoriet! Het eten was heel lekker, de service behulpzaam en oplettend, de sfeer was gezellig. Echt een top avond gehad, kom zeker terug.

The new menu is amazing. Refined and fulfilling. Love the mix of cuisines with the common denominator of fish. The soft shell crab bun was one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had. The staff were really friendly and really service oriented. It was fully packed and still they were all smiling and making time to have a chat and explain the menu/dishes. A really cute and lovely place if you’re keen for fish!

Dit is echt een hele fijne tent. Altijd als je hier komt hangt er altijd een top sfeer. Het personeel is er snel om je te helpen en zijn heel rlxd. Het eten is heerlijk met zeer lekkere bijpassende wijnen. Gisteren ben ik er geweest om de nieuwe kaart uit te proberen en dat was stuk voor stuk verrassend vernieuwend en heerrrrrrrrrrlijk
