⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an amazing evening! The food is absolutely delicious, the service is incredibly friendly (and fast), and the atmosphere is very cozy. Every table has candles, the lighting is dimmed, and there’s lovely background music. At the front, they also have a nice heated terrace by the water. Compliments to the chefs as well! We had the chef’s table, sitting at the bar by the open kitchen, which was fantastic. There was great interaction with the kitchen, fun conversations, and even a complimentary dessert — such a thoughtful gesture! This is officially one of our new favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. Highly recommended!

Candles and low lights (no big light!) created a really nice vibe and the food was really yummy. We got the chicken and entrecôte frites. Anna, the waitress, was very kind and even recommended some places for us to go after. Thank you Anna! :)

Lovely spot for the first date or a cosy evening with your friend. Food was high quality, steak exceeded our expectation:) I wish service was a little more friendly because we were strict for 2 hours and they could not find us a replacement table to let us sit at the bar after.

Had dinner here last night. It's a great concept, especially since they're reminiscent of béajoulais. The interior is nice, but the tables are too close together, and the service is just a bit too slow (constantly beckoning for new drinks). The food is subpar; the flavors are off, the food is too salty, and the stewed pear wasn't cooked through. And the prices are quite high. Because of the mediocre to poor food, I wouldn't go back.

Best Steak Frites, Wine Selection & all around French Cuisine that I have come across in Amsterdam. Also the first & only French brasserie I’ve been to that plays Biggie! It’s all good, baby baby.

A super fun French bistro café. Truly delicious dishes, just as they should be. Friendly and attentive staff, with a pleasant, fresh atmosphere.

Where do I begin? Last Friday, after a delicious dinner at a nearby restaurant, I popped into Le French for a friendly beer. I ordered my first beer at 11:00 PM, and when I ordered the second, they immediately announced it was the last round. Within three minutes, a receipt was on the table, and the waiter was there with a card reader. He asked if we could pay right away, even though the beer had barely arrived. My girlfriend then asked, "How late can we stay here?" To which the waiter replied, "Well... it depends on whether it's busy or not, but usually around 12 or 12:30 (the website says open until 1:00 AM). Meanwhile, the bar was still serving cocktails and beer for a table with a larger group. The receipt for the last round was presented to us at 11:53 PM, and there were definitely more than 15 people inside at that time. After waiting for my friend to finish her beer, I decided to ask at the bar if I could get another one. I got a strange look as if I was asking a strange question, and was told, "No, it's the last round." Beer cocktails and other drinks were still being made until 12:25 a.m. for the group that had apparently been there longer. This all paints a strange picture for me. You're not open until closing time, even though there are people in the bar. You let people who are still drinking their beer pay, telling them it's the last round. More than half an hour after you've told other guests they can't order anything else, you continue serving one table in front of the other guests. No more Le French Café for us for a while, and I think it would be wise for management to bring this matter to the attention of the staff.

We had a lovely lunch at Le French Café. It's a beautiful spot by the water with a large terrace and a very atmospheric interior. The menu is excellent, with something for everyone. The service is very friendly and fast.

The ambiance was lovely and I had a decent time overall. Service was a bit slow, and the shrimp were slightly over-salted — a few even mushy — but still enjoyable. Worth visiting if you’re in the mood for a relaxed French spot.

A stunningly beautiful interior. That. And on top of that, the friendly service. But the meal I had, Vol-O-Vent, was puff pastry with mushroom sauce. Also French. But not what my mother made. Apparently, a vegetarian version in small print. Not much. Really little. Too expensive. And TOO little.

Nicely decorated restaurant with good food but service wasn’t great. We ordered bread and despite several reminders it never arrived. We were handed the bill without having asked when the restaurant was still busy but with plenty of tables available a couple of hours before closing (so no need to rush us out) and staff were clearing the table while we were still enjoying our wine. The waitress even came with the credit card machine shortly after having put the bill on the table! At this price point the service should be better and guests should be made to feel rushed to leave

It was delicious, but I had something with salmon, and it was absolutely salty. I was thirsty the rest of the afternoon... Dear chef, you can always add salt, but you can never take it out.

We've eaten here several times and now we've had lunch with our mother. Everything was perfect again, and the service was incredibly friendly and helpful, courtesy of a woman who was working alone. The dishes were delicious and generous portions (which you also pay for), with a good bottle of red to go with them—always a good thing at Le French.

When I walked in here after searching for the perfect spot for a while, I immediately felt at home! The atmosphere was incredibly cozy and made the experience even better. After ordering two dishes, to our surprise, they were delivered to our table within 15 minutes. And they tasted absolutely delicious! I recommend everyone to stop by!

My wife and I were walking around Amsterdam looking for a nice dinner out and found the perfect spot here. The food was impeccable and the atmosphere made us feel completely at home.

It was like I ended up in Paris—but without the long journey. The crème brûlée was so perfectly roasted I nearly fell off my chair. Five stars, which is actually a few too few!

Great atmosphere and delicious cocktails!

The croque was bone dry. Thick slices of brioche that had been toasted for too long and were crumbly. No béchamel or cheese, and two dry slices of ham in the middle. Unfortunately, nothing was done with the feedback.

It has a nice sphere a nice service and the food was delicious.

Last Monday we made a reservation for a staff lunch. When we arrived, the road was closed for maintenance. No contact, no cancellation notice, and we had to look for another spot on the spot with a large group of people.

Took a seat on the terrace table. Food was good and especially the dish with en eel is my favorite. One thing, once we got the dish, numerous flies came around to our table and had to keep my hand shaking them away.

We'd previously had a delicious meal here, but this time it was a less-than-stellar experience. We'd made a reservation inside, but a jovial waiter suggested we might sit outside, but we'd have to be patient. The very smart waitress (who was otherwise attentive) refuted this (all five of us had clearly heard this) and started a discussion. It would be more hospitable to leave it at that and call it a misunderstanding. The food was decent, small portions, and reasonably priced. We had one bottle of wine and three courses. Including steak tartare, eel, hake fillet, and sirloin steak, along with crème brûlée and chocolate mousse (desserts were very generous portions, though). It was a shame that three of the five people had stomach problems afterward and didn't really enjoy the meal ☹️.

Excellent! Highly recommended. The service was good and the food was fantastic. I recommend the Croque Madame and Oeufs et Avocat! The fries were also very good. I'd be happy to go back.

Great French cuisine with attentive service. Had the onion soup and the tomato salad as a starter, especially the soup was really delicious. For the main I had the chou pointu which came in a a creamy sauce and was topped with almonds, also really tasty. The service was really kind and welcoming, despite being quite a busy night!

Last night we dined at the chef's table at Le French Café. Because, well, if you're going to eat anyway, you might as well check live to see if anyone's poking their grubby fingers in your food, or secretly farting on the plate. The service was handled by a pleasant lady who recommended a nice wine and was assisted by a young man who mainly helped sow confusion about whether or not fries were included as standard with the main course. Then came the food: the shrimp whispered softly "oh là là" every time you held them close to your ear. The tomato salad with burrata was so fresh and creamy you spontaneously wanted to say, "ah, oui oui, très chic, burrata, très chic." The carpaccio de navet; "meiknol" sounds like "meh, knol," but here it was winking at you on the plate: "Regarde-moi, je suis chic!" The food: the shrimp whispered softly "oh là là" every time you held them close to your ear. The tomato salad with burrata was so fresh and creamy you spontaneously wanted to say, "ah, oui oui, très chic, burrata, très chic." The carpaccio de navet; "meiknol" sounds like "meh, knol," but here it was on the plate, winking at you: "Regarde-moi, je suis chic!" The fish cried out loudly "noh hoh hohhh!" when it was served, and the pointed cabbage proudly wore an imaginary medal for "Most Exciting Pointed Cabbage in Amsterdam West," and it was! For once, the crème brûlée wasn't overly sweet, but perfectly balanced; not a mouthful of pudding with added sugar, but a truly full-fledged dessert... eh, dessert! All in all, we had a delicious meal, and we'll definitely be back. Vive la frites! (Order them separately.)

I’ve been to this restaurant multiple times, and the food and service are always excellent.

Had a wonderful meal at Le French Café West. The sautéed coquillages were perfectly cooked, full of flavour and slightly creamy – a wonderful start. The ribeye was excellent: tender, juicy and beautifully prepared with a rich jus. The Château Puynard from Bordeaux completed the dinner. Full and spicy, with just enough depth to support both the shellfish and the meat. An atmospheric place with classic French class. We will definitely be back.

Well they don't know what is a Kir (they have Kir Royal but with procecco lol, cheap is cheap) + forgot my order, the food is not comparable as a french brasserie

In the end it was even difficult to choose what we wanted, because they have so many good options. The price quality ratio is also very good. We will definitely come back again!

From start to finish, our evening at La French was a feast for the senses. We were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, who were at our service throughout the evening with genuine attention and expertise. The atmosphere in the restaurant is warm and stylish, with an eye for detail without being pretentious. Each dish was a work of art in itself — beautifully presented, with surprising flavor combinations that were perfectly balanced. The chef absolutely deserves praise for the creativity and refinement of the menu.

I didn’t take many pictures as it was a group event, but the food wasn’t special and it was very pricey for its quality, we had steak and French fries and some had salmon with asparagus. Seeing the name of the restaurant we have expected more but we were kind of disappointed. Not really worthy to try

Very cozy place with great food and attentive service! We had escargot, clams, chicken thigh and fish of the day (wolffish). Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. We enjoyed ourselves a lot! Price is standard Amsterdam price. Cocktails and crème brûlée are just so so tho.

The coffee and apple cake were delicious. The place and service were lovely. The apple pie is one of the most delicious in Amsterdam.

Had a wonderful meal here with family. Great food and easily catered for our gluten free person. The staff were super friendly and competent and nothing was too much trouble.

Our party of four loved our evening at this quaint cafe. In particular, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the sea bass. Lulu provided excellent and smiling serve.

This place has a very nice terrace, with a lovely sun during brunch/lunch. Enjoyed a nice cappuccino with (homemade) apple pie. Definitely recommended! The service was also very sharp and alert and even poured a carafe of water on the table.

I had an anniversary with my girlfriend, and this was given to me as a tip. My boyfriend gave me the tip to sit at the chefs table. It is located at the kitchen and it felt like I was at a French market! All delicious fruits de mer dishes and a hard-working kitchen in front of you. Sat at a high bar and enjoyed the bubbles with my girlfriend. What a great place for a date!

Had dinner with colleagues last night and it was a success. The wine suggestion was a perfect match for the main course (the entrecôte, recommended!), and the starter with scallops was also a hit. The service was professional but personal, which made it extra fun.

The menu is compact but well thought out, with classic dishes such as charcurterie and confit de canard, beautifully presented and full of flavour. The atmosphere is relaxed but refined, a rare balance that you don't often come across. A really tasty and easy lunch menu too. In addition to lunch, also a very nice place to have a coffee or a glass of wine.

Really had a delicious dinner on Saturday night. Perfect price quality, nice wines that go well with the dishes. You can share tasty snacks with your company, or choose a large dish. With the candles on also a perfect place for a date. Really recommended for a nice evening away!!
