Extremely disappointing service. We weren't even given a menu and had to get one ourselves. Customers who arrived later were helped first. If we hadn't asked to order, I don't think we would have ever been helped. The croissants were dry.

A man who has fought hard to make us happy. His language skills may not be perfect yet, but he is an extremely knowledgeable staff member who notices everything from floor to ceiling. From my experience, I am sure that he will reach his goal easily. November 30, 2025

So sorry.... Ate here (today) on Sunday. Ordered the "salmon miso bowl," among other things. We paid almost 20 euros for 1/2 bowl of rice (?), 6 dried radishes, 1 tablespoon of canned corn, 1/4 of a barely ripe avocado (yellow instead of green), 1 small piece of salmon, and 3 or 4 pieces of cauliflower... absolutely no flavor... The soup was meager, the smoothie was more like lemonade with coconut milk (?) and sugar... the matcha latte was okay (lukewarm). All this for 41 euros (!?!?!?) DO NOT EAT HERE 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Le Pain Quotidien is always a reliable choice with its delicious bakery items and tasty light bites. However, the coffee unfortunately doesn’t match the quality of the food. I often find myself enjoying my meal here and then heading elsewhere — or home — for a well-prepared cup made with high-quality beans. I genuinely hope to see the coffee program improve, as it would make the overall experience truly exceptional.

This bakery/café is not recommended; it pretends to be in the middle of Paris. With prices like those you see there, you're sitting in a small café in a regular shopping center in Amstelveen. As I read in other reviews, I'm not the only one saying it's overpriced, and so the prices haven't changed. For me, it's clear: you're in it for the money, and unfortunately, not enough for the people. I had a "Belgian éclair" (I'm Belgian myself, so I know how it's done!). I got a half-filled, dry éclair without real chocolate icing, but with a thin slice of chocolate. This is definitely not a Belgian éclair. And it's way too expensive for what I got. In the best patisserie in Brussels, it costs under €4, but in yours, it's under €6. Why? The quality/price ratio is far from ideal. You don't have to ask that price for the "decor" in the café. It costs €5.90 for a super delicious éclair in Paris, but that's truly enjoying it in a beautiful setting. As I said: yours is a far cry from the real éclair you get in Belgium and France. And then my sweater: I received a plate with "éclair" written in chocolate, beautiful, but I thought it was a glazed plate, so my beautiful white sweater got completely covered in it. We reported it to the (slow) guy, and he came with an extra dry napkin. Oh well, pay a fortune and leave, and then never come back...

Good service and friendly staff.

We went twice for breakfast, the bread was delicious, and overall the breakfast was well served and had a pleasant taste.

Nice food and generally pleasant

The restaurant wasn't even half full, yet the server ignored us for 10 minutes until we finally asked for the menu ourselves. Then, she once again forgot we were there and had to call for her attention again to order. Next, both of the desserts we wanted were no longer available. The server, half dressed in her uniform and her own jacket, interrupted another server who was taking orders with customers. Unprofessional.

A quick fix of the coffee. Very relaxing.

The food is good, but very expensive. The staff is completely untrained. It's not that hard to notice that.

We tried to order two cappuccinos, but the staff didn't speak Dutch and didn't even speak half a word of English. There were little jackdaws all over the tables, munching on the leftovers. The table we were sitting at was sticky all over, and our request to clean it wasn't understood. The cappuccino was supposed to be medium...and voila, we got a double, and it tasted of everything but coffee. Absolutely not recommended.

We did walk in for coffee, really nice and friendly hostess served us. Happy with the experience.

Disappointing experience – not recommended Almost all the food comes from packages: the pancakes, waffles, cakes, bread, and even the pastries. Nothing seems truly freshly prepared. It feels more like a fast-food joint than a place where taste or quality are valued. The kitchen staff seems to have little affinity for the food they serve – and it shows. The bread was hard, and basic skills like moistening bread before warming it are lacking. Also noticeable: as a customer, you can't approach everyone. For example, the person serving drinks isn't allowed to take orders. Each staff member has a strictly defined task, making the place feel chaotic and inefficient. The atmosphere is chaotic, and hygiene leaves much to be desired. There seems to be little concern for staff. They employ people who don't speak the language, which in itself isn't a problem, but combined with poor guidance and low wages, it leaves a bad impression. The management seems disinterested and seems to have little experience in the hospitality industry. This place doesn't feel like a restaurant focused on hospitality or good food, but rather a system driven by exploitation and low quality. I won't be returning.

I've been coming here for years and have never had any complaints! The food is delicious and very healthy.

Sunday morning breakfast - Over-priced and plain. I had scrambled eggs & bacon. Rock hard dry bacon, that seemed to have been prepared hours before. Scrambled eggs that were tasteless without a hint of garnish. The meal was like a military dish. The menu in general is overpriced compared to the norm. The sour dough was good & the serving staff were nice. I wouldn't recommend it & won't be back.

I paid almost €20 for just bread and smashed avocado on it. In addition to that I paid almost €3 for soft boiled egg. The egg was crazy hot to clean the cover. No space to put the cover.

Always a delicious lunch at this location. Can get busy on Saturdays.

Popped in for a quick bite today and suddenly fell in love with the waitress. The food was delicious, too. I'll definitely be back (for the food, of course).

Le Pain Quotidien has become one of my go-to spots for breakfast and brunch. I keep coming back for the consistently great food, relaxed atmosphere, and friendly service.

(zero stars if possible) Unbelievably bad experience at Le Pain Quotidien Amstelveen. We entered and were clearly visible waiting. One of the waitresses looked straight at us, but decided to walk on. Then she went to the same table three times, where guests who came in after us were sitting, and continued to arrange their order there. In the meantime, we were completely ignored. Even a second colleague walked past us to — again — that same table, served drinks and politely asked if they had been helped yet. We were still standing there, without anyone saying anything to us. After a ridiculously long wait and zero attention or service, we left. This was not a misunderstanding or busyness, this was simply disinterest and a total lack of professionalism. Absolutely unacceptable. We will never come back here again — and I advise everyone to do the same.

I visited Le Pain Quotidien in Stadshart Amstelveen for lunch with my mother. From the moment we sat down, the service was disappointing. Our server, a white woman, took our order but roughly tossed our cutlery onto the table. At first I brushed it off, until I noticed her gently and cheerfully setting silverware for other guests. I ordered the protein pancake and started eating. About halfway through, I discovered a short, light red hair baked into the batter. My own hair is long and black. When I politely pointed this out, the server’s response was shocking. Instead of apologizing, she snapped that I’d nearly finished the dish and implied it was my fault for not noticing sooner. She rolled her eyes, looked visibly annoyed, and maintained a cold, dismissive tone all the way through payment. My mother and I left feeling insulted rather than cared for. It’s upsetting to be made to feel responsible for the restaurant’s mistake, especially when we came simply to enjoy a pleasant lunch.

If you’re thinking about grabbing a coffee here, do yourself a favor and keep walking. I ordered a cappuccino and honestly, I’m not sure what I got. It was watery, super bitter, and tasted like caffeinated dishwater. The place itself is a mess—tissues and random trash all over the floor. It felt like the staff hadn’t cleaned up in days. And if you’re not a fan of birds, beware: there were pigeons everywhere, just wandering around like they owned the place. One even flew right past my head while I was drinking. Honestly, if you’re looking for a good cafe, this is not it. But if you want to see pigeons up close and personal, this place could probably be rated higher as a zoo than a coffee shop.

Great breakfast or lunch spot, a bit pricey though. On a Sunday afternoon, the three of us could easily get a table here. The service is fast and the staff friendly. The restaurant itself is very noisy, partly due to the ventilation. The omelette with goat cheese tasted good and the basil oil is interesting but did not add much flavor to the dish. The mini pancakes were tasty, but could have been a bit fluffier in my opinion.

Cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. But that's all. We ordered a toasted sandwich with avocado, tea and coffee. The toasted sandwich was rock hard and the mix of avocado and herbs was not really tasty. Probably very healthy but unfortunately not a sensation for the taste buds! And all that for over 43 euros. Price-quality ratio is disappointing. No next time.

Went here for a coffee and some sourdough flatbread. Flatbread was amazing, a bit on the pricey side, but worth it!

Recommended by family who live nearby and was a very good recommendation Very welcoming place and staff are lovely - helpful and friendly Little noisy due to work outside (the shopping centre is getting an overhaul which will add once completed will be wonderful) which our waitress apologised for ! Food was delicious- soft boiled eggs with sourdough soliders ! (Was given option as sliced bread or cut into soliders so the child came out 😁) and scrambled eggs with avocado and salmon and a wonderful cup of English breakfast tea ( possibly our best cuppa of our stay bar with family at their home ) I know this is a chain but really do recommend you try

Had lunch at Le Pain Quotidien in Amstelveen. We found the staff very pleasant. Attention was paid to us, they took the time to explain the order and all with a smile. It all went smoothly and neatly. Where else can you find such staff?!

Very nice tent decorated in French style. Friendly staff. The food can be described as "an attempt to sell food at a higher level". This results in coffee of the bitter sorrow type and a sandwich with a French name but with too little cheese. The prices were at the level of haute cuisine.

Went to this cafe early one morning before dropping someone at the airport. The waitress was really friendly and helpful. The food was good and the portions large. Nice open bright clean decor too. My only small complaint is that it was a cold day and it was a little cold in the cafe. Maybe it was because we were so early and it had just opened.

I love the food at this place. My favourites are breakfast/brunch. The quality of the dishes reminds of 5 star hotels. Edit: I'm changing Service from 3 to 5 stars. Last 3 months, Service has been excellent. Absolutely brilliant.

I loved this place!! The omelette was amazing and the staff was wonderful. I went two days in a row to have their breakfast - and would have made it three if I had more time! The ham was so tasty and the baguette was very delicious.

It is a really nice place, me and my family go therefore breakfast sometimes and they even have a chess board there. I always take their hot chocolate and scrambled eggs with bacon, and as a kind of “dessert” I like to take their french toast, which is very delicious.

Helaas geen goede ervaring. Het was ontzettend koud in het restaurant, de lunch was prijzig voor wat er geserveerd werd. Eén boterham (!) met avocado en wat zalm kost 18,25 euro. Overall duidelijk te kleine porties. Wij voelden ons afgezet, de ervaring was niet prettig en gingen koud en met trek de deur uit.

Really really average breakfast spot in Amstelveen shopping center. Waiters couldn't care, and food is so average - it's just so bleh...not worth it.

We ate here 3 times on our trip and the breakfast and food were soooo delicious :D We all loved it and are already looking forward to the next time. The service and staff were also brilliant, courteous and friendly. I have to honestly say that these other reviews that are not good are lies and wrong in my opinion! Someone definitely wants to harm the restaurant...perhaps a competitor! It is really ingenious, delicious and highly recommended!!!

Today I had coffee and cake, it took a very long time, the coffee came first and it was not hot. I think the apple cake from two days ago was all very bad, you can expect quite a bit for that price. We definitely won't go there again!!

Good food, pricy, and decent service. You might want to check the level of salt in some of the dishes. This can be quite high sometimes.

Extremely dissapointed by this place. We waited over 20mins for a soup and a few pasties(not complicated sandwiches). Soup came ice cold,and some of our drinks were missing. So we decided to go and we're promised that the missing drinks won't be charged. They still billed us for them and the soup heated in microwave came after we already paid.

Exceptionally good food for a chain. I'm not sure if other locations outside of the Netherlands have the same quality food, service and atmosphere but it was perfect for our family and young children for breakfast.

The food is okay, but I expected more generous toppings and portions from a café. For the price you pay, the food is certainly not worth it. Things also went wrong during the operation, but of course that can always happen. Perhaps place fewer tables, so that the service does not become overloaded.

Delicious coffee and super nice staff. Lenka and her colleagues are passionate about the business. The 'pommes frites' looks funny and fortunately tastes really good like apple pie!

We visit here almost every other weekend. Staff has always been nice to us. Sometimes we bring our dog and they are nice to him as well. Probably the best breakfast restaurant in the neighborhood

Way too expensive for what you get. Ordered 2 croques and asked if they could be made into a madame (with a fried egg on top.) This was certainly possible. What we got was a dry sandwich with indeed an egg on it. Besides the dry sandwich, it was incredibly cold and chilly inside. I thought I'd just eat it quickly and get out of here because it certainly wasn't very pleasant inside. Except for the cappuccinos, they were good. When we arrived at the cash register, we were allowed to pay a total of 53 euros. 2 croques (18.00 euros each with an egg) 2 croissants 2 cappuccinos. I think it's scandalous. Never here again.

This morning we decided to have breakfast here with my daughter...the food was delicious, we tried a new dish on the recommendation of the employee. Big ten! Fresh bread, eggs well done! And the employee knew what he was talking about. Although I have to say that I missed the oatmeal on the menu. Le pain can make that so tasty with gingerbread spices, highly recommended by Yammie

We love this chain for its atmosphere and food (especially the ingredients). The food is still good but used to be better and my favorite salad disappeared. Sometimes the service lacks die to understaffing.

A tall fatty girl took the order (to identify the person, and not everyone was bad there), she forgot the order cos i m the only non-white person among the white people in this place. I was looking at everyone’s face but no response for 40min, the girl who took the order was dancing, they didnt even realise I dont have anything on my table and keep looking. When I asked where is my food finally said “my colleague forgot, it happens sometimes”! Great. After serving the food she didn’t even bother to apologies but asking “everything okay” for the food that was like a disgusting taste. Finally during the bill they said orange juice is for free, what a great thought! even the food doesn’t worth the money. But atleast the boy was polite and apologised and the girls were looking impolite. Good luck non-white customers with this restaraunt.

To our great joy, this lunchroom is also located in the Netherlands. We come here regularly. The food is good, they have a wide range of sweets. The Belgian brownie is highly recommended.

Super yummy food and very good/fast service!

Despite being there at rush hour, I was impressed both by food and service. I had ordered an omelet with salmon but they served me scrambled eggs instead. That can happen at busy hours and I did not react other than that it looked different than expected. But before I started eating a waitress admitted and corrected the mistake and added extra sour dough bread. Next to that delicious omelet, they only had iced matcha latte on the menu but got me a hot version instead on request. The hibiscus croissant was very special, all of the bakery was lush and fresh. Go here if you want a higher end lunch experience.

This happened again , during many many months I bought here sweets and coffee. Today again I bought, coffee and Pistachio swearl . This guy is not the first day trying to ruin my day, no one do this - only this one and one girl . I bought the products, and I have no right to eat them on the terrace. Pardon You don't provide me a service!!!, they can't even show an official document that it's forbidden. Moreover, he told me why I buy coffee and sweets from them. To which I replied that I like these products and I do this everyday and I regular customer . This character doesn’t care and he advised me to go somewhere else. He said that he don't have to show me anything, as he said it should be. What I see that he is big provocateur . Not problem , I not gonna spend a cent in place where people so rude !!!

Hi , I tell this little story ! Again such disrespect, from the terrible attitude. Every day during many months. I come to buy Baking and coffee, every morning. Sometimes I eat outside the terrace. For the first time, the young waitress was very disrespectful to my mother who came From France, cause she not speak very well on English . Now you've started to find fault with me. Well, what is not respect . Terrace is empty, I sit down for 5-10 minutes, eat my bun, drink coffee and leave. Are you adequate people??? I spend my money on your products and in return I get nagging and provocations. Left from your place I see a coffee company , and never nobody will say that if you buy products you can’t stay out side on Terrace. But But I'm buying coffee and sweets from you. If you do everything so that I just don't come here, there's no problem. It's customary for you to treat a regular customer in this manner. Cause you don’t care ! Also last time When my friend came from Germany, I brought him to you . Now I think why I spend my money on the place where I got only very sad mood ! Of course, I don't recommend this place . It’s Worst attitude. I see hatred in the eyes of a waitress! They don't know how to ruin a person's day. I don’t say there all people like that , cause many good people work in This place . The first time I've seen this in my life! I have many friends who own cafes in Amsterdam and there only respect customers ! But I haven't seen anything like this yet. A lovely place for a good breakfast! The toast with avocado (with lemon-cumin dressing) is great, especially if you combine it with the smoked salmon and a soft-boiled egg. A bit on the pricey side though.

Beautiful Café, nice young people working there but the food is a 0. Looks fancy but it is an absolute tasteless Salad. Play around with some dressings or spices and it would be better guys!

There was some miscommunication with our order. The staff was really kind and professional with the situation. We will certainly return for their great service and care. The French toasts are really tasty.

Scam! Delicious sandwiches and delicious drinks. We were very satisfied until we had to pay a much higher amount at the checkout than what we had ordered. On the menu you could choose from small and large of the sandwiches/drinks you wanted. We each ordered a small sandwich and also small drinks. Luckily we didn't have to wait long and it tasted really delicious. Once I arrived at the cash register, I thought the amount was on the high side. I saw that the cashier had picked up the large version and I said that we had eaten the smaller sandwiches. She said that didn't exist (small and large). The prices on the menu were for 'take away' or eating in the cafe. That really didn't make sense, because first of all, it's not on the map. And when ordering I also made it very clear that we wanted the smaller one. So paid a lot more in the end. So this is really ridiculous. Too bad for such a nice cafe. I will never go there again.

I ordered a coffee with a cheesecake, they brought me the coffee and….. in 15 minutes I asked how long the wait time for cheesecake. An arrogant waitress’s response: “I don’t know. We are busy” . What do you mean we are busy. I am a customer. Then I waited a few more minutes, I marked that 4 waitresses were available but I don't know why they didn't want to bring me my cake. They served everyone except me. Maybe I'm French. I spoke French and a little English. In fact after 20 minutes of waiting I asked for a refund. What a shame, what behavior

Terrible and worst service which I saw in my live ever !!! The young girl with blue eyes make this not first time , cause always unhappiness . She think people are nothing but she is Princess! Pardon you work there , it’s not your house and you must respect the customers . She has a personal dislike for me and this is not normal !!! Is too much ! I come to buy coffee and sweets here during long time .Today again She didn't serve my dessert on purpose, when I asked how long I should wait 5-10-15-30 minutes, I got the answer that we are busy- Pardon are you serious ???. She have time for talk and drink , but I paid money and is ok for her !! I every day spend my money so that such characters spoil your day because of dislike. She gave dessert to others who came later. It's not a professional and very bad , there are no good manners. People like her shouldn't work in such places . Because I pay money for the service and not for the inadequate manners of such a character Jalousie type of people 🤦🏻‍♂️ . Really very terrible experience . Stay away from such places! And especially from this person .

I used to like to come here for the nice options on the menu. Really disappointing to see that recipes have been “downgraded” from a quality/quantity point of view keeping the high price. The hummus bread used to have some vegetables on the top and it was really delicious. Now for the same price (or even more) you get 4 small slices of bread with hummus and few leaves of unsavory watercress type of salad. Very disapointing.

The place is ok in general and the food is tasty although overpriced. Sometimes it gets too overcrowded but that is a downside of a popular place. Nice to come, but not too often.

I got a really small cappuccino for 4 euros and a pistachio swirl for 5.25 euros that was absolutely tasteless. My partner had the Italian tartines for 13.95 euros and ice tea for 4.75 euros Overall, a bill of 27.95 for not much and for sure no taste. We will not be back to this place.

Had a last minute stopover in this cafe, the only cafe open on Eerste Passdag after the visit to Kersenbloesenpark. Tarts, cakes and coffee are surprisingly good, quite similar to Paris patisserie. we had flat white and gwoone coffee which was refreshing. Service is excellent with bilingual speaking waitresses in English and Dutch. All the cakes and tarts are worth to try… check it out ! 😀☝️

Delicious warm quiche of asparagus and brie. Good amount of avocado spread on toast.

New level of service in this restaurant. We made an order and ok sometimes mistakes can be made and some items might be wrong or forgotten. How likely is it that they will forget the FULL order? Well they did. The waitress just didn't put it through. Just like that. She didn't even come to apologise for "forgetting". If you like sitting on your table forever with no one bringing your food or coffee this is the place to come.
