Nice for a light evening meal. Limited menu. Enjoyed what we had.

Honestly would not recommend. Some of the staff seemed a bit annoyed with us wanting to eat there (might just be typical Amsterdam charm), while others were friendly. The food was expensive and not particularly good. One ordered a burger, and for the price you would expect some fries, but they had to be ordered on the side. The burger was good. One ordered the catch of the day and received a tasteless boiled fish on top of some beans and sauce. No potatoes or anything. Maybe we were supposed to order that on the side as well, but again, for that price you would really expect a full meal. The last one got his order mixed up and recived some dry duck meat and bread. Which tasted fine but wasn’t really the dinner we expected.

The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive. The food was very tasty, steak frites with salad vert and haricots verts. I would love to go back here soon!

We had a nice meal, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a truly indulgent evening. We arrived at 6:30 PM for my boyfriend's birthday, but the service was so slow that the atmosphere was completely ruined. After 45 minutes, and asking twice... we finally received the menu. It took another 15 minutes before we could order drinks. The starter did eventually arrive, but even after that, everything took forever. The drink we ordered to accompany the main course, while receiving the starter, only arrived when the main course was almost finished. By 9:00 PM, we were pretty much done. We therefore went somewhere else for dessert and a final drink. In three hours, we have never eaten and drunk so little during a night out. It's a shame, because the food was fine, but due to the extremely slow service, we wouldn't be coming back here anytime soon. It was remarkable that the poor service at the coffee machine at work was apparently common knowledge regarding this location.

I’ve always liked the food at this restaurant, but today’s was very disappointing because of the service. I waited over an hour just to receive a charcuterie board, while watching tables that arrived after me being served their food first. When the food finally arrived, I had moved tables because it was raining, and they still brought me plates that were wet from being outside, which is not acceptable. I also ordered a burrata and asked for salt and pepper, which were never brought. I had to ask multiple times for cutlery as well, and it still wasn’t provided. In the end, no one came to the table to take payment, so I had to get up and pay at the counter. I’m very disappointed. Even as a neighbor of the restaurant, I wouldn’t come back due to the level of service.

Maybe if got a menu after waiting 15 minutes I would rate you better. People walk in behind us and get service. I guess I have to look a certain way

We ate here with four people and it was a very disappointing experience! One of our guests has an allergy, including to fish. She ordered a cheeseburger and fries. The wait staff indicated that the fries are fried in the same oil as shrimp croquettes, meaning she could not get fries. This was simply communicated, without any alternative. Only when we asked for it ourselves was something offered: haricots verts. She had no desire for that, so she asked for bread with butter. A moment later, the waiter returned with the message that they preferred not to serve that either due to the allergy. In the end, she received a very meager hamburger with a slice of cheese on a soggy bun, without any additions or garnish. Unfortunately, the rest of the food was no better. The ratatouille was extremely salty and truly inedible. Another guest's fish was also far too salty. We didn't want to spoil the atmosphere because we were with guests, but this was truly shamefully bad. To make matters worse, the third portion of fries — which my dining companion couldn't eat — was simply on the bill. We only discovered this when we got home. Given this experience, I understand the negative reviews now. I have had fine lunches here in the past, so I went there with confidence. But what we experienced now in terms of quality and value for money is truly substandard!

Please add one more waiter and this nice restaurant will be perfect. Staff rush. But their tasks are overwhelming. Now you sit and wait and wait for a menu. You order and you see your food being ready to be served - but it’s stuck under the heating lamps together with other plates. You order a G&T and it’s forgotten. But what you get - when you get it - is very good

A bit overpriced and the food was plain. I was having too high expectations in the Escargot but it was very watery, tasted like defrosted in the oven. The onion soup, open sandwich and spinach were all nothing special. The duck leg’s skin was soaked in the sauerkraut and became soggy. We didn’t have alcohol yet a lunch for 30+ euro per person is a bit overkill.

We walked in and thinking we’d get some decent French food as it’s decoration style and men, but it was a big disappointment. The escargots were without shells and full of water, apparently they were defrosted before cooking so it was very watery . Worse still, the duck was served with Sauerkraut, very interesting combination which went completely wrong , the wet pickles cabbages made the crispy duck skin completely soft , it was sour as well, it totally made no sense to serve Sauerkraut as a side dish. It’s nothing French at all except for the names , terrible food there !

Probably a fantastic place to enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace on a sunny day, but for a weekday lunch in winter, you'd be better off going elsewhere. The service was excellent, but the food was truly subpar. I understand you're paying for the location, but if you're charging 13 euros for two mini shrimp croquettes, they should be top-notch and not burst open. The burrata toast was also prepared effortlessly. At the very least, add a fresh basil leaf and a little balsamic syrup or something similar to the plate to make it understandable why it took so long to arrive.

Never saw a cheeseburger cooked so much, couldn’t even eat it. When informed the staff, they didn’t care much. They offered to take if off the bill with an attitude like I owed them Otherwise, great vibe but unfortunately poor food and even poorer service

The tartare for the Sandwich Caniballe was good, the toast itself maybe not so fresh. Cheese burger was ok. The croissant 🥐 was good, with jam and butter.

I was a bit nervous when I saw the score but I can honestly say this meal blew away my every expectation. The steak frites were the best I’ve ever had, including Paris. The steak was cooked to the perfect medium rare, it had a nice char, compound butter, crispy fries, and a nice acidic salad to balance everything out. The music was great the staff was even better. Check this place out when you’re in town.

Underwhelming. Have eaten at this location for more than 10yrs under its old name… first time trying this version. Food is fine, not exciting - had hoped it would be closer to the quality that GBB had (I miss the Halloumi burger). Service was quick and friendly enough (but the place was empty). The drinks prices are egregious - they do a 5x mark-up, so you pay per glass what you’d pay per bottle in the store. Their “house” bottled water at €7 is pretty bad. So value for money is not there - I would suggest Marathonweg, Carter or Vandam right around the corner as better places to eat and drink. Has a good patio that gets the sun until late… so on a sunny day probably worth the € to sit for a drink…

If you have a lot of time on your hands this is okay, but you won't be done within an hour, even if it's a very simple lunch. Price-wise what you can expect and not unreasonable but not really a bargain either. The margins are fine I think. The mayo with the fries was very tasty.

If you have such an expensive menu with a wine like (Dumanet) that is 7.95 purchase for a private person and you put it away for 45 you can expect a smile and good service (with a bit of experience). Food was reasonable but not special, is that there was still a bit of sun on the small terrace, that makes up for it a little bit. Especially very overrated and too expensive for what it is. !!

Very nice and cozy terrace, both places in the sun and in the shade. Lovely quiet sitting even though it is on the street side. Friendly and quick service. We only had a quick lunch there. Both the croque monsieur and the toast burrata with tomato were delicious.

I ordered avocado toast with a poached egg. I received cold hard eggs with a black glow around the yolk. When I sent it back, the chef said that he didn't have time to cook a hot egg because of lunch preparations. I left and will never come back.

Capisco che si trattava di una serata particolare perché era la sera della festa del Re e che noi, abituati agli orari italiani, ci siamo mossi troppo tardi, però solitamente se delle persone si fanno accomodare in un ristorante e la cucina sta per chiudere, si chiede ai clienti se devono mangiare o solo bere e li si avverte prima di sedersi se la cucina sta per chiudere in modo da scegliere se andare altrove o se ordinare subito prima che chiuda. Invece nessuno ci ha detto nulla, noi ci siamo fermati proprio perché era tutto chiuso ed era già mezz’ora che cercavamo un posto per cenare e vedevamo che stavano servendo del cibo. Dopo averci fatto sedere ci hanno portato il menù sia della roba da mangiare che da bere, sempre senza dirci nulla e poi hanno preso l’ordinazione della roba da bere sempre senza avvisare. Sono passati altri 15 minuti e quando abbiamo chiesto di ordinare da mangiare ci hanno detto che non era più possibile perché la cucina stava chiudendo, però nel frattempo i piatti stavano ancora uscendo quindi la cucina era stata aperta fino ad allora, se ci avessero avvisato per tempo avremmo potuto fare la nostra ordinazione. Detto questo, eravamo turisti in difficoltà, con una bimba piccola da far cenare, con i ristoranti ovunque chiusi per la festa e con una cucina chiusa da non più di 5 minuti. Se fossimo stati in Italia qualsiasi ristoratore ci avrebbe fatto mangiare, invece ci hanno offerto solo patatine fritte. In Italia abbiamo tanti problemi ma di sicuro abbiamo una qualità che si chiama empatia e che evidentemente i proprietari di questo locale ignorano cosa sia.

They cancelled my reservation that I made a month ago, 48 hours before the date because «suddenly» they «don’t take reservation for King’s Day». Funny, I got a reservation last year. «But you’re welcome to drop by» no thanks, I don’t feel welcome enough to elbow myself in and get spun out as soon as I dropped my fork.

A wonderful location, beautiful sunny terrace that gets packed. Food is average. Normal fried snacks. Service is pretty disastrous - can wait up to 40 mins to just get noticed by the staff. Last time we had to cancel the second order and this time we just walked out after 30 minutes wait to just make an eye contact with staff (failed).

Tenía tantas ganas de un relajado viernes por la noche después de una larga semana, cuando reservamos. Cuando llegamos como una familia de 3 nos dejaron esperar durante 5 minutos junto a la puerta, mientras que el restaurante estaba medio vacío; miradas astutas, pero el contacto visual evitado. Eventualmente, cuando la presencia no pudo ser ignorada por más tiempo, nos dieron una mesa diminuta en la esquina que era apenas lo suficientemente grande para 1 con la razón de “la silla de bebé puede caber allí” (que no fue solicitada o necesaria). Cuando pedimos una mesa en la que pudiéramos sentarnos, nos dijeron con odio que nos sentáramos en la mesa ficticia frente a la puerta principal. En ese momento llegó una familia holandesa y se les mostró a una mesa apropiada en otro lugar del restaurante. Claramente no fuimos bienvenidos y no encajamos con el perfil de los clientes buscados. Salimos y fuimos a nuestra pizzería local en lairessestraat donde nos dieron la bienvenida. Mensaje recibido y no volveremos. Reserva bajo tu propio riesgo. .

Very nice place for a drink or just a meal.

Wij hadden gereserveerd om 15u omdat we hierna onze trein moesten halen naar huis. Bij aankomst was er helemaal geen tafel vrijgehouden, het terras zat volledig vol, bediening was zeer onvriendelijk en gaf ons een arrogant antwoord dat we dan maar gewoon moesten wachten tot de eerste tafel vrijkwam. Toen we eindelijk een tafel kregen, konden we hierna bestellen, waarbij ze zeiden dat ze even geen eten serveerden omdat het te druk was, hierna zijn we gewoon weggaan, en we hebben uiteindelijk niet meer kunnen eten voor onze trein. Zeer onvriendelijke bediening!!

Gran servicio, buena selección de brunch, relación calidad-precio, agradables asientos al aire libre durante el buen tiempo en Amsterdam. Me encanta la experiencia general aquí.

Slechtste restaurant ter wereld. Voedselvergiftiging, 's avonds kotsend op het toilet. . Dessert niet goed ontdooid. Dit is echt het meest hopeloze restaurant van Amsterdam en de rest van de wereld. Doe de tent maar liever gelijk dicht, de medewerkers begrijpen echt niets van horeca. Steak tartaar, dramatisch, vier personen van onze tafel hebben 's avonds boven het toilet gehangen om te kotsen. Kokkie, Graag handen wassen als je naar het toilet bent geweest. Misschien is het nog wel erger en wordt de bedorven steak tartaar bewust opgediend. Dit laatste kan haast niet, het zou poging tot moord zijn. Het water was trouwens geweldig, wel warm, want de flessen stonden al op tafel, maar dat mag de pret niet drukken. Spa rood altijd goed op hoge temperaturen. Helaas ging het ook weer mis bij het dessert. Dit "restaurant"koopt z'n nagerechten in en bewaard ze in de vriezer. Tip: Ontdooi de appeltaartjes voordat je ze opdient, het voelt zo koud aan je tanden als ze niet goed ontdooit zijn. We kregen een gratis kopje waterige espresso aangeboden voor het ongemak van de bevroren toetjes. De toetjes werden niet van de rekening gehaald. Volgende dag het restaurant gebeld met de mededeling dat 4 personen van ons gezelschap over hebben gegeven( allemaal steak tartaar gegeten). We kregen een geweldige tegemoetkoming: 2 glaasjes champagne bij een volgend bezoek. We waren met z'n twaalven, dat wordt delen. Nooit meer George!!!

I agree with the opinions on the proportions.. They are small and the restaurant has nothing to do with French cuisine, for example the fondue has the taste and texture of the fondues sold in bags in supermarkets. Another example, we wanted to have bread to accompany cold meats.. 6.50 euros for half a baguette.. In short, really not great..

We went there on valentines and they had decorated the restaurant with a valentine theme, even a pack of cards with questions for it that we could ask each other.

Very disappointing - Food was poor - Snails were served WITHOUT butter and garlic .... Aubergine to be avoided, since no interest . Moules average. Onion Soup with melted bread ... frankly TO BE AVOIDED . So many good places to eat in Amsterdam that this one is not needed .

The stay begins with the fears that I had…I had had a lot of negative feedback on the restaurants in Amsterdam…I understand €25 for a steak and fries, that's still okay, except that the meat wasn't of good quality, 4 fries on the plate that I shared with my partner because we didn't know that we had to take the extra side dishes... The waiter didn't speak English very well and had just started, however my companion laughed with him to relax him :) We also saw a mouse but hey between entrances and exits in the restaurant I'm going to let doubts speak in favor of the restaurant ;) 66€ anyway for 1 bottle of water almost taken with obligation, a glass of red wine that stings and really mediocre dishes...

De kerstsfeer was goed getroffen, met prachtige decoratie die de ruimte een warme, feestelijke uitstraling gaf. Daarnaast was het gezellig druk en en dus een prima ambiance! De prijs is wat hoger, maar gezien de locatie is dat begrijpelijk. De Engelstalige serveerster was echt perfect en dat mag zeker gezegd worden na de mindere reviews in het verleden: ze liet ons verschillende wijnen proeven om de beste keuze te maken en checkte regelmatig of alles naar wens was in een ontspannen sfeer. De kaasfondue met steak was heerlijk en paste perfect bij de tijd van het jaar. Al met al een fijne en gezellige ervaring.

I was here on Christmas eve 2024 with my parents, brother and girlfriend. The place is well situated in a neighborhood just next to the Vondelpark. The weather was awful but none of that mattered inside: the place was full with guests but not too crowded. There is a bar in the middle and surrounding it are the tables for the guests who come here to eat something. The service was excellent: we were helped quickly and somebody asked if everything was ro our liking at appropriate intervals. The table space was just enough (we were situated around two rond tables with 3 chairs and 2-person wall-bench). It was possible to have conversations with everybody without having to raise our voices considerably. The food was well prepared. The only thing that stood out to me were the portion sizes. Depending on what you order from the menu, the portion sizes can vary. The onion soup starter for example has a considerable size compared to some of the other starters. If you are hungry and expect to have a big appetite I would definitely go for the soup as a starter. Besides the decent portionsize it also tastes very, very good! The other starters were also well prepared and tasted good but for me the soup stood above the rest. For the main course My dad had chosen the mussels, two others had the cordon blue and I had the chicken paillard. Here the difference in size stood out: the mussels were significantly smaller in total size compared to the cordon blue and paillard. Out of these, I would recommend the cordon blue: it was a very well sized portion and the meat was absolutely tender and tasty. The paillard tasted really nice too but the meat was just a bit overcooked making them less tender than I had hoped. The supplemented fries were good, exactly what you might expect from them. The deserts were all well prepared and of equal portion sizes so that served as a big plus at the end of our evening. The wines that were ordered were excellent choices by the way. All in all we had a lovely evening and I would come here again in the future.

Subject: Outrageous and disappointing What started as a pleasant evening at Le Petit George ended in pure annoyance. This restaurant shows how to frustrate customers with ridiculous portions, high prices and rude service. We ordered the cheese fondue for €24 per person. After just 10 pieces of bread the cheese was already gone. When I kindly asked an employee for a refill, it turned out that the mini pan (which was only 2/3 full!) was the full portion. Meanwhile, the basket of dry, hard brown bread – which you can hardly eat, by the way – was still largely full, as were the vegetables. White bread? That will cost you €7 extra for 1/6 of a baguette. Really scandalous. When I indicated that the quantity was not normal, I received a blunt response from an (Asian) employee: “Yes, most people are just full, so you should order a new portion.” No attempt at understanding, apologies, or a solution. My appetite wasn't even a quarter satisfied, even though I'm not a big eater. I reluctantly, against my principles, ordered a second pan because I was simply hungry. That second pan was also barely enough. In the end we even had to order a third pan to leave the table somewhat satisfied. The total? €72 for three mini pans of cheese, which was still basically not enough for two people. This is downright ridiculous. When I looked at online reviews, I discovered that several people had already complained about the tiny portions. The owner apparently responded with understanding with “we will discuss it internally.” What a joke, because when I spoke to a Dutch colleague about that so-called “internal discussion,” I was told snarlingly that nothing had been discussed. This is just how they work – squeezing customers for ridiculous prices. And another thing: there were far too few staff, which made it difficult to speak to anyone at all. There was no customer friendliness whatsoever, and you could forget about compensation or a cup of coffee on the house. Scandalous and rude. This restaurant doesn't deserve to have customers. My advice: boycott this place. Go eat somewhere where you get value for your money and where customers are taken seriously.

The place is indeed gorgeous. The prices are outrageous, especially with such mediocre quality. French cuisine is poorly represented and the waiter couldn't have been more non-chalant.

24 euros for a fondue where you get some vegetables and a basket of bread. I left the table hungry. The food itself is tasty, but far too little for the high price. The aperitif snacks: shrimp croquette and cheese croquette are very small and both at high prices 12 and 10 euros.

Location is very nice, but after 30 minutes I left. They even hadnt the time to clean the table people before me was using.

We hebben 1,5 uur gewacht op 2 gerechten, nl een boterham met wat stukjes tomaat en een klein beetje burrata en een salade niçoise zonder tonijn, één zielig ansjovis filetje en qua opmaak niet al te best. Hier hebben we voor bedankt en zijn elders gaan lunchen. Bediening overigens vriendelijk, maar konden het vandaag helaas niet aan.

Anunciado como un bistró francés, sin duda la decoración y el menú lo sugeriría. Los titulares llegaron a tiempo, pero ahí es donde termina la positividad. Casi dos horas después de llegar el plato principal estaba servido, bueno la mayor parte, tuvimos que recordar al personal de camarera lo que habíamos pedido! ¡Incluso entonces un plato no se materializó a pesar de que estaba en la factura final! La comida era simple, pero porciones un poco pequeñas para el precio. La cocina tiene problemas si se tarda 2 horas en sacar bistec, patatas fritas y una ensalada.

Best spot for a cozy hot chocolate in the rain. The chocolate mousse is fantastic, the best I’ve ever had. Servers are attentive without being intrusive.

It is my first time here in Amsterdam and I found this cafe very nice. I ordered a Cappuccino and a Mousse au Chocolate and I have to say that is my first time that I found a nice Cappuccino out of Italy, also the Mousse was delicious.

We ate dinner here on September 16th, the service and food were delicious! I highly recommend the bass, the salmon, soup and escargot. Service was nice too. I was surprised at some of the other reviews. We really enjoyed our meal here!! And the music was nice. Their French aesthetic is cozy and lovely.

Cenamos aquí el 16 de septiembre, el servicio y la comida eran deliciosos! Recomiendo encarecidamente la lubina, el salmón, la sopa y el escargot. El servicio era agradable también. Nice terrace in the neighbourhood, cosy and everything is nice. Recommend their drinks, especially Pornstar Martini

At Le Petit George I enjoyed a perfectly prepared steak – tender, juicy and full of flavour. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service completed the evening. Definitely recommended for lovers of a good steak!

Mixed feelings. We have eaten here for dinner and it was relatively good, lot of pre-made items on the menu and not everything is freshly made in the restaurant but the confit is always great. The service is very french even though they’re Dutch. Arrogant and non-caring. But we had breakfast here recently and it was very very lacking. The french omelette was an embarrassment and all the other dishes looked and tasted thrown together which might have been because of an off-day. But oof it made me never wanting to return. Especially because we had guests over from London. A waste of breakfast-potential. Also, overpriced for the quality you get.

Fuimos a almorzar, pedimos la hamburguesa de queso, el filete con papas fritas y el filete de pollo de los niños, todo estaba tan sabroso! Incluso pedimos el ratón au chocolate yumm, gracias!

Very nice and quiet spot. Food was excellent and very tasty.

First time there, not going back. Took an hour to get served cold and dry food - which had to be sent back. Waitresses were on their phones and / or talking to each other.

Waited 45mins for food that arrived cold and dry (eggs) and only one dish out of two arrived. Can’t even blame the rush, restaurant was not even 1/3 full at lunch.
