This "gastrobar" is definitely on its way. An informal setting, smooth (if sometimes a bit "nervous") service, and excellent, delicious cuisine. With the certainly not exorbitant prices, a Bib Gourmand is on the horizon. Recommended!

We dined during the 6-course game night. The welcome and table service were excellent. The explanations for the various courses and the accompanying wines were clear. The staff regularly checked on us to make sure everything was to our liking and also stopped by for a chat. Something went wrong in the kitchen, so we had a long wait between the 4th and 5th courses. We had to ask ourselves what was wrong; it would have been nice if the staff had mentioned it themselves. Therefore, no 5 stars for the service. Otherwise, nothing to complain about; we had a wonderful evening.

We enjoyed a wonderful game evening, beautifully organized. Wonderful wine and food pairings, and a relaxed atmosphere.

The four of us enjoyed a 6-course dinner with wine pairings. They were very accommodating to one gluten-free meal. We were pampered, not only by the kitchen staff, but especially by Loes, who went all out with the food and wine pairings. This young woman understands the hospitality industry. The hotel management has a real gem! Be grateful for this young woman!

We had a six-course dinner as part of a package. We mentioned that one of our guests doesn't like fish, and they were very accommodating. Small portions, but enough to fill us up by the end of the evening. We had pleasant conversations because it wasn't busy, and each dish was explained. We had a wonderful evening.

A truly surprising dinner with an excellent wine pairing. Friendly staff. The tables were somewhat in the hotel's common area, which was a bit less inviting.

We had an excellent dinner at Gastrobar De Wereld. Five courses, each one excelling in creativity, flavor, and refinement. Great atmosphere and excellent service, especially from Ties. Highly recommended!

I was persuaded to try the 6-course surprise menu. Upon arrival, I mentioned that I'm not a fan of fish, and this was accommodated without any problem. We tried fantastic dishes and were able to experience so many new flavors and experiences. The staff was fantastic; the young man was very knowledgeable about which wines to pair with everything, was friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. We can't wait to sit down with the chef and select and create the wedding dishes, because this is truly magnificent.

Unfortunately, what started as a lovely evening on the terrace ended disappointingly. The first hour was excellent. Then, with a change of staff, things went wrong. Complete inexperience: dirty plates were left behind, serving dishes left across the table, and glasses were served by the glass instead of the stem. The food was lukewarm, and for the last hour and a half, no one asked if we wanted another drink, even though all the glasses were empty. It was a real shame, and when we confronted the staff about it, they didn't respond professionally. Such a shame for a restaurant like this. Owners, pay attention to your staff... inexperience is unacceptable in this price range! We'll skip it next time.

As part of a cycling tour through Holland, we stayed at the Hote de Wereld. We fully agree with the many positive reviews. In the evening, we had the 6-course surprise menu with wine pairing in the gastronbar. All courses were very creatively selected and excellently prepared. The wines also matched very well. After each course, we waited with excitement and anticipation for the next surprise. We also found the price/performance ratio very reasonable for the food served.

We had a wonderful time on the terrace this afternoon. A very nice and friendly young man serving! Absolutely recommended!

I love this place. History combined with the pleasure of eating and drinking in a modern, old-world, and classic setting. Very friendly service, clean, and a great menu. Easy to get into, too.

We enjoyed a delicious wine tasting in an atmospheric setting where past and present come together in a tasteful way. Authentic elements such as wooden panelling and stained glass windows give the interior character, while the fresh, modern decor ensures a contemporary look. Everything is right here: from the perfectly cooked coalfish with a sublime matching wine to the golden yellow, thick fries and the irresistible apple pie. The staff is warm and hospitable, and owner Hans knows how to put you at ease right away. We would love to come back to this charming, cosy place — where you feel at home, but at the same time taste the world. Because in Hotel de Wereld, small things taste great.

Wat een heerlijke dagen hadden we bij Hotel en Gastrobar de Wereld! Supervriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel, fantastisch lekker eten, dat er als schilderijtjes uitzag, en een prachtige kamer met een superfijn bed. Het hotel is sfeervol en en heeft een lange historie, dat voel je! Prachtige omgeving waar je heerlijk kunt fietsen op de (elektrische) fietsen van het hotel. Van ons een dikke tien!

I came here because of the history of the building, ended up eating here, Very glad that i came here, Food is excellent quality, staff very friendly and helpfull. About the history, they still have the table where the famous meeting took place and the room in original setting.

Wat een feestelijke afsluiting van een bijzondere dag had moeten, eindigde helaas in teleurstelling. De ervaring viel ons op meerdere punten tegen: geen ontvangst, lange wachttijden en bijzonder kleine porties. Voor een restaurant in deze prijsklasse hadden we meer verwacht. Bij aankomst werden we niet ontvangen of begeleid naar onze gereserveerde tafel. Na zelf navraag te doen in de keuken, werd onze tafel aangewezen. Vervolgens werd ons gevraagd naar een drankje, maar er werd geen menukaart aangeboden – ook die moesten we zelf opvragen. We kozen voor à la carte en bestelden van de lijst met "tussengerechten": één per persoon voor de eerste ronde, en twee per persoon voor de tweede ronde, met oerfriet en salade als bijgerechten. Hoewel het op dat moment niet druk was (er zaten slechts twee andere tafels), duurde het ruim een uur voor we onze eerste ronde geserveerd kregen. De gerechtjes waren op zich smaakvol, maar buitengewoon klein: een rondje zoete aardappel van slechts 4 cm doorsnede, een bietenwafeltje ter grootte van een amuse. Bovendien waren alle gerechtjes koud. Waarom dit zo lang moest duren, is ons een raadsel. De tweede ronde liet opnieuw lang op zich wachten – drie kwartier. Het was inmiddels iets drukker, maar we voelden ons totaal niet gezien. We moesten zelf om drankjes vragen, en ook die lieten vervolgens ruim een half uur op zich wachten. De gerechtjes van de tweede ronde waren niet groter: een "aardappeltaart" bleek het formaat van een kroket, en de "bloemkool curry" was een schijfje fijngemalen bloemkool van circa 8 cm met wat saus ernaast. Opnieuw smaakvol, maar niet wat je verwacht bij de term “curry”. Volgens het personeel staat een combinatie van drie tussengerechten gelijk aan een hoofdgerecht, maar dit klopt wat ons betreft absoluut niet. Met drie van deze gerechtjes heb je nog lang geen volwaardige maaltijd binnen – en dan voelt 3x15,50=46,50 euro (nog exclusief de bijgerechtjes) als een forse prijs om alsnog met honger het restaurant te verlaten Een dessert hebben we uiteindelijk maar overgeslagen. Na zoveel wachten voor zulke kleine porties durfden we het niet meer aan. Dan maken we thuis wel iets lekkers.

What was supposed to be a festive end to a beautiful day on which we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with our family, turned out to be a major disappointment. In short: there was no reception, the portions were tiny and - this bothered us the most - we had to wait an extremely long time. We did not expect this for this price range. It started as soon as we entered: There was no one to receive us and take us to our reserved table. When someone in the kitchen pointed out our table, we were asked what we wanted to drink, but we were not given a menu. We had to ask for that. We ordered à la carte from the list of "intermediate courses": 1 per person as the 1st round, and two per person as the 2nd round, with a side dish of fries and salad. It wasn't busy (2 other tables were occupied besides us), but we still had to wait over an hour for our 1st round. The dishes were tasty, but tiny. The creamy sweet potato turned out to be a round of 4cm in diameter, the beet (it was more of a beet waffle) was also just a very small snack. Rather the size of an amuse, not an "intermediate course" as they were advertised. All dishes in this round were cold. It is not clear to us at all why we had to wait over an hour for this. And then we had to wait for the 2nd round: more than 45 minutes! By now it had become a bit busier and we noticed that there was little attention for our table. In between we asked if we could get something to drink, because the staff was not keeping an eye on this. And for that too we had to wait more than half an hour. The dishes of the 2nd round were also small: the "potato pie" was the size of a croquette, the "cauliflower curry" was a flat disk of finely ground cauliflower of 8 cm with a sauce on the side. Tasty, but with a cauliflower curry we expected more of a bowl with a piece of cauliflower in a curry. The staff indicates that 3 of their "intermediate courses" correspond to a main course, but in our opinion this is not correct. And in our opinion, 15.50 euros per dish is really too expensive: for 46.50 euros you are still hungry. Although we would have liked to end with a desert, we did not dare to do so. Waiting another hour for a tiny snack? No, we'll make something tasty at home.

Locatie is natuurlijk historisch en borrelplank is netjes verzorgd. Maar wij vinden De Wereld een afknapper. Personeel is vooral met zichzelf bezig en heeft geen aandacht voor de gast. Regelmatig worden gasten op het terras straal genegeerd. Dieptepunt was een overboeking, dus een dubbele reservering waardoor ik met vrienden naar elders moest uitwijken. Niet gastvrij.

Erg teleurgesteld, dat is het gevoel die wij vandaag ervaarde. Op 5 april 2025 zijn mijn ouders 25 jaar getrouwd en daarvoor hebben wij gedineerd bij gastro bar de wereld in Wageningen. Vanaf moment één hadden wij vraagtekens aangezien niemand ons welkom heette of ons naar het restaurant leidde. Nadat we hadden besteld duurde het eeuwig voor wij het eten kregen. Ruim een uur nadat we het eerste gerecht op hadden ben ik gaan navragen waar het eten en het drinken toch bleef. Daarnaast bleven alle glazen op tafel staan zowel de wijn en cava als de waterglazen. Deze glazen waren trouwens bedekt met vingers en lippen. Tot slot wel genoten van de smaken van de gerechten. Wie van lekker eten houd, maar enorm lang kan wachten op eten en zure wijn niet erg vind raad ik het gastro bar de wereld aan.

Disappointed feeling on a special day, Today, April 5, 2025, I had dinner with my girlfriend, brother and parents at the gastro bar de Wereld in Wageningen. This was supposed to be a nice dinner for my parents' 25th wedding anniversary. To our surprise it all took a very long time. More than an hour for the next dish and our drinks! The glasses on the table (wine, cava and water glasses) were covered with fingers and lips. The service was very slow and only after pointing out the enormous waiting time did this change. Once again really expected much better service compared to the food. The sour wine was also really unnecessary,

Naast het moeten wachten tot iemand ons hielp naar onze tafel, was de tijd tussen de gangen en de drankjes erg lang. Ook bleven onze wijnglazen, cavaglazen en waterglazen op de tafel staan, voor het gehele dinner. De eerste gang kregen wij na 30 minuten, onze 2e gang pas na 60 minuten, ook werd ons niet gevraagd of wij nog iets wilde drinken dat moesten wij zelf doen. Toen wij vroegen of wij nog wat te drinken mochten kregen wij een brutale bijna snauwende opmerking terug van de serveerster. Na waarschuwing dat wij weg zouden gaan als wij niet ons eten kregen verliep alles ineens een stuk sneller. Bij afloop hadden wij het personeel verteld wat onze ervaring wat minder maakte, hierop kregen we niet echt een fijne reactie. Maar kregen wij wel snel de rekening. Eten was lekker, alleen erg kleine porties. Jammer van de ervaring.

The food was nothing spectacular, so it was very expensive for the price/quality ratio they offered (a two-course tasting menu for €34). The service was also extremely slow, taking 1 hour and 40 minutes for just one person to eat two dishes, and the dining room was only half full…

Historical place for lunch. Attention to history. Special.

Restaurant in an important historic hotel with mediocre service. Restaurant with conservatory and outdoor terrace. Unwelcoming reception from staff and slow service. The restaurant clearly benefits from its unique location (the Nazi surrender during the Second World War is signed here). The restaurant is spacious. Food was fine and the prices are reasonable for the Netherlands.

I was here as an invited audience for a meeting. Good setting, nice subject.

Friendly service and a delicious meal on the terrace, overlooking the historic hotel. Dishes were also beautifully prepared. I'm not a big eater and found the portions small. And what a shame about the chain-smoking aso who sat at the table next to us, what a stench!

We had a delicious meal here in a relaxed atmosphere. We received good advice about the menu and the service was excellent. The dishes are all delicious. An absolute must in a historic environment.

Music on the terrace does not fit the atmosphere at all and could not be adjusted or turned off. Food is exquisite!

Wat een heerlijke beleving! Wij kozen voor het 4-gangen menu van de chef. We werden hartelijk ontvangen en de bediening was top. Niet teveel en ook niet te weinig tijd tussen de gangen, die stuk voor stuk magnifique waren (incl bijpasende wijnen). Voor de prijs hoefden we t ook zeker niet te laten. We komen hier graag weer terug.

Very good value for money. Excellent service, relaxed yet quick and tidy. The menu consists of portions of approximately half a dinner, so also suitable for small eaters. And you can order and combine multiple dishes. The dishes themselves are rich in flavor and creative.

We had something to celebrate and we wanted to celebrate with delicious food and drinks in LEV. Unfortunately, we never got drinks at the same time, so coming across great news was not possible. After asking for the drink for the third person a few times, the fun disappeared somewhat. Food was ok. It's a shame that there were fish twice. Not very imaginative. When, after a long 3 1/2 hours for a 4-course menu, the dessert came instead of the cheese, we went back to our accommodation, disappointed. We wouldn't eat there again.

Wij hadden een goede ontvangst en mochten over gaan zitten waar we willen. Bediening is aardig en attent! Eten was heel erg lekker! Ook genoeg keuze voor vegetariërs. Klein minpuntje was dat het erg lang duurde voor dat het tweede gerecht kwam. Zeker een aanrader!

It was a cold rainy night, so my friend and colleague, a local, booked a table at the hotel where i was staying The service was first rate, a Wageningen student. We gad a nice selection of medium plates, which was ideal after a long flight from California I was very happy with my choice..pearl barley risotto with beets, mushrooms...absolutely delicious Risotto parelgort | Bieten | Shiitake | Rucola | Beurre blanc (V) My colleague had lamb. Being Catalan he knows meat and gave it thumbs up. He finished with a cheese plate, a diverse selection of local cheese. I had the pear almond dessert. Also very good even though the sauce looked like mayonnaise. Overall very happy with the experience

1st Christmas Day 25/12/2022 enjoyed Christmas lunch with 4 people. Lunch super composed, very tasty. Pleasant restaurant. Operation expert and correct. Top chefs at work. Completely under the supervision of Manager Hans.

We enjoyed the 6 course dinner on Christmas Eve. It's amazing how the chef combines local ingredients into a true work of art on your plate. This was more than pure indulgence!!! Also a big compliment to the service. So friendly, hospitable and knowledgeable. It was a privilege to experience Christmas Eve in this special place.

Our first visit since the new owners have taken over, and pleased to see it open on a Monday evening when the majority of Wageningen is closed. The service we received was excellent as was the food. We chose the 4 course Chef's menu (one of us a vegetarian), and the ingredients and combinations were truly delicious. Just one comment being the starter was fish based, and then you have the fish course. The petit fours with the coffee all home made, especially liked the beetroot and licorice one! Thank you for a lovely evening.

The food was excellent, the portions could be a bit larger, but that does not detract from the quality. Staff was good and the ambiance too!

A beautiful location outside on the terrace. But, very small portions, too small to share and what bothered us most was that we had to wait a very long time before being served. Not only the food, but also the drinks. This is a real disappointment. So all in all, too high a price for disappointing quality in terms of experience and food.

Very mediocre salad 'From the Land' for lunch. Large plate of lettuce with a layer of “ratatouille-like” small pieces of grilled (stewed?) vegetables on top. Taste was nice but because the vegetables were so small there was no distinction in texture and every bite was the same.
