Libertine Petit Café in Jordaan

Don’t know why this is below 4 stars. It’s a lovely cafe with great staff, delicious food, and right next to the weekend market. This is one of my favorite spots to bring my friends.

I cannot be certain but I may have gotten food poisoning from the oysters here… my friend has the same issue: vomit, diarrhea and fever.

Very attractive restaurant in the evening where we tried various fish dishes such as the scallops (delicious). Pasta Vangole tasted okay but floated quite a bit in the oil - which was a bit awkward to eat. Steak tartare from my table companions, on the other hand, was very popular! Good to know: few vegetarian options for dinner. One disadvantage: we had to wait almost 30 minutes (without drinks) for our table. Conclusion: recommended, but you may have to be patient upon arrival.

It used to be better. Kitchen is doing terrible job now. Throughout the past 3 years the service was always terrible and the food was atleast nice. Now both sucks. The only thing this place has is the location now.

I made a reservation for 8:30 am and I was right on time. It took more than 5 minutes before I was addressed and I had to wait more than 30 minutes before I could sit at the table, really ridiculous. The waitress said that I could wait outside differently (sitting comfortably when it is less than 10 degrees outside) and I then had to ask if I could have a drink. No apologies of sorry for the wait or anything like that. We also got a table closest to the door, where you could always feel the cold air from outside. The starters were tasty (scallop & shrimp croquette). For the main course I had ribeye which was fine, but the pasta vongole was really not tasty. After dinner I wanted to pay, I asked 4 or 5 times if I could have the bill, but it also took a very long time. I certainly won't be back and I won't recommend Libertine to anyone either.

At first I’ve checked the reviews and they were not that great, but as soon as I saw a perfect table on a sunny terrace I could not resist. I must say that I’ve had one of the best French Toasts in the city and absolutely delicious Eggs Benedict. I was there for brunch after the Noorden Market on Monday. Service was friendly and attentive, prices are reasonable, the restaurant was busy. Definitely would come back again!

Sympathetic and helpful service. Delicious food. A few points of attention: * the can of olives explicitly states that they must be served chilled. Then it's a shame if they are still at room temperature. * Also provide a bowl or plate for the bowls with the tiger prawns and a bowl of water with lemon or a lemon cloth to clean your hands. * We had to ask very often where side dishes and desserts were, which was a shame because things couldn't be enjoyed at the same time. One dish did not even arrive at all and was said to be 'immediately taken off the bill', but the latter turned out not to be the case. It was busy, so that could happen, but still.

Great soup of the day over a long lunch.

This was probably the best dinner we had while vacationing in Amsterdam. I highly recommend the restaurant.

Very nice place to eat, seeing the bad reviews they had, we were surprised, we ate 5 for 143 euros and it was quite good. Recommended pasta with clams and meat with potatoes

Gezellige place with good food and service

I saw the bad reviews, so I was a bit skeptical. Great lunch in a prime spot outside in the sun. Staff was very nice and helpful. So just go.

Lovely lunch at a lovely location. The dorade was a bit on the small side, but quiet good. The ravioli was excellent. Pleasant service

Excellent French chef in this well located corner bistrot. Typical French food. The outside terrasse is sunny (whenever Amsterdam is sunny!). Across the street from the market. Ideal place to take a second look at all the vintage hats you bought!

Nice location, service was very bad. The lady who served us was visibly irritated that she had to serve and everything was too much to ask for. The club sandwich chicken had no flavor.

Host lied to us that they were closing early because we had a young child with us. Convinced him to seat us, ordered chocolate, but never got it. Not a good time!

Expectations were high but they've destroyed it. Food was average, not the best so far. Cocktails were ok and they didn't have French wine while they supposed to have (since they're French cafe) and the tables were so narrow. I'm pretty sure that I won't visit there again.

Nice place on the Noordermarkt. Delicious food with excellent price-quality ratio, top! Service seems a bit rushed and unfortunately the cozy terrace is no longer there, so we sit inside where the atmosphere is also great and with a French touch!

Birthday Brunch, delicious French toast

Food was good. Staff was friendly. Nothing to complain about!!

I know that in Amsterdam staff is hard to find. As a result they can play music as loud as they want to help them through shifts. But unless you like Madonna at disco soundlevels maybe you should lunch somewhere where you can have a conversation.

A really small menu with limited options and on top of it after 4pm half of them are not available.

Loved the atmosphere and very good food for the reasonable prices you pay.

Too expensive for what they offer , in my opinion… Some tables are quite small.

A very attentive welcome in a relaxed atmosphere! Lunch composed of 3 dishes and a choice of delicious white wines! We will definitely come back here !

Good place for a coffee, the French bread is good but it is different and very sweet

Owner cool, staff can be arrogant, food standard french brassiere style. Its good, but smile hard if you want a table

The service is extremely bad. Management feels too exalted and is very arrogant. Food is fine but will never come back here. Shame!

One of my favorites in Amsterdam!

Before Corona this was a great place. I live nearby and loved coming there. It's not a nice place anymore right now. Food is of very poor quality. The service in particular is hopeless. Disinterested, arrogant and simply unfriendly. Don't waste energy here and walk a bit to a restaurant/bar where they will be happy to welcome you.

Today is my birthday and I was really looking forward to French fries. Café Amsterdam was full, so I made a reservation at Libertine for a small group. Because it was afternoon, we could only order the small bites and side dishes. Lunch dishes were already excluded. A friend surprised me with a large balloon with 50 years on it and a large bouquet of flowers. You would think that the staff would realize that someone at the table has a birthday and has turned 50. You would think that at least a polite congratulations would be appropriate. No, no. None of that. What is going wrong with the normal manners of the young generation? Really scandalous, unfriendly and very bad. These girls don't understand anything. Hospitality business. Haughty and arrogant. I regret tipping them too. Because this doesn't actually deserve a cent of tip. This is very unfortunate. I don't have to come there anymore.

A big PASS. I stopped by on a sunny afternoon to get a glass of wine. It’s a nice setting for that. Decent wine. I can attest to some of the other comments referring to so-so service. My server was fine, but I did notice on several occasions that some people were not getting waited on as if they didn’t belong. A couple tables went in and ordered because the server didn’t come out. No excuse for making people feel unwanted. They also have reserved placard‘s on all the outdoor tables even though they’re not reserved. They’ll decide if you deserve to sit there or not by eyeing you up and down, kind of a ‘status’ thing. Why, I have no idea. Can’t attest to the food and probably won’t because I’m not planning on returning. That’s all for now.

Always cosy and lekker 😊 if there is a sun outside, just sit in the terrace and enjoy the sun with a lovely food. Recommended!!

Hele gezellige sfeer, consistent goed eten en vooral hele leuke service. Je waant je even in Parijs, maar dan gewoon om de hoek.

Libertine op de Noordermarkt is een charmante bistro met een gezellige sfeer. Het personeel is uiterst vriendelijk en attent, wat de eetervaring nog aangenamer maakt. De menukaart biedt een verscheidenheid aan smakelijke opties. Hoewel de foto van het eten dat ik heb gemaakt niet heel scherp smaakte het goed! Een aanrader voor een ontspannen avondje uit!

Heerlijke plek bij de noordermarkt. Wat tafels buiten onder de parasol. Overzichtelijke kaart. Ik had het broodje steak. Heerlijk!! Aanrader.

Leuk plekje, lekker in de zon. Eten was goed, we hebben een kleine hap gedaan. De service was niet best, langzaam en onoplettend.

Very nice, adorable Cafe. Excellent food and service. The steak sandwich was staff recommended. Now I think I understand the roots of the philly cheesesteak. Dutch style. Imagine that.

The perfect dinner date spot!!! Wow! Highly recommend. Make a res because it can be hard to get a table. The salads are delicious (all of them, but the lentil one was my favorite).

A charming place. inside and out . Especially when the weather is good, sitting outside is almost a luxury. The staff is polite The coffee is satisfying. They can do better. Classic beautiful dishes Wonderful interior

Nice interior and atmosphere of the space, food mediocre, service and waiting time - terrible. When I asked what’s in their Salade Nicoise (you know form house to house they do it sometimes differently, some wouldn’t add anchovies, some wouldn’t add potatoes…) the waiter told me to Google it…. Long waiting time and wrong drink served. Better to visit any other place next door, there are many in the area.

Vandaag heerlijk gelunched bij dit geZellige restaurant. Verse oesters en mooie gerechtjes. Klein foutje van de keuken werd direct en netjes opgelost door de eigenaar/manager. Vriendelijk personeel. Helaas te koud om buiten te zitten maar leuk terras(je).

Ik zou het aanraden om de oesters en asperges te nemen en de parmaham over te slaan. Verder een leuk café waar je goed in de zon kan zitten!

it was a nice dinner. food was lovely, and the servers had rather good hospitality and the place had good ambience. I particularly enjoyed the salmon, the skin was crispy and the fish was well seasoned. oysters were not expensive which explains the petite size. The vongole was however an amazing serving size and I was full. indeed a PETIT cafe. we were a party of 3 but were assigned to the rather small round table; however, it seemed to be a common problem faced by other guests too. Perhaps it’s good to go as a party of two rather than a big group. alternatively, you may choose to dine outdoors where it seems to be a bit more spacious and a good place to people watch.

Great restaurant, with tables big enough to accommodate kids if you make a reservation for a booth.

Mega knus, interieur is on point en met de kaart is niks mis. Mijn persoonlijke favo is de croque madame en vergeet vooral niet de Franse frietjes bij je gerecht te bestellen. De citron pressé is een van de meest verfrissende drankjes ooit. En ja, de tafeltjes staan dicht op elkaar maar is dat niet juist de sfeer waar je voor gaat in een Frans restaurant? Een van de fijnste locaties in Amsterdam en ondanks dat er normaal gesproken veel toeristen in de buurt zijn, wordt Libertine daar nog niet door plat gelopen.

Goed personeel, kaart is een beetje beperkt

Heerlijk eten, wel erg duur. Sfeer van het restaurant is fijn en knus. Lux eten met een fijne sfeer. Eten; Garnalen kroketjes Oesters Coquilles Brood

Great vibe and ambiance, food was excellent. Service was a shambles! The most unorganised place I’ve ever seen in my live. Place was heaving but staff had no clue. Drinks were forgotten about more than once had to wait 15 minutes to get water at table. Would recommend if they could sort out a few small things.
