Just well organized and friendly service

Not recommended, price is OK though Food was fine but not really hot. Filthy toilets with a broken trash can Hole in tablecloth, dirty water pitchers All in all, you are in a nice location and the food and price were fine, service nice, but the rest is a letdown. I will not go back.

Asked for the scrabbled eggs & cheese with a Steak on the side! Both cooked to perfection and a pepper sauce to complement it! Perfect lunch! 👌🏼😋

We came for a bite to eat as a couple. After some insistence, the menus were thrown onto our table, and I just managed to order a bottle of wine. I could order, but nothing came afterwards. Fortunately, the owner came by, to whom I repeated the order and ordered six oysters. After another 20 minutes, the drinks arrived, but without oysters. I asked about them, but they apparently hadn't been ordered. So, my mistake. We left. Incompetent staff and a chef who is mostly busy with his smoke breaks. And a disappointing menu, by the way.

Great spot at any time of day. We sat for a casual lunch and it was lovely. The eggs Benedict was particularly excellent! Service was warm and accommodating. Would definitely add this to your Amsterdam list!

I'm giving three stars for the atmosphere because a lot of smoke spread from the kitchen into the restaurant's interior. The food was delicious, especially the lobster linguine, it was amazing 😋 The staff were very kind and helpful 🙏🏻

It’s true that the waiting time is long.. but the food is worth it, services as well was great! At least today :) Atmosphere inside is nice as well, the open kitchen does give you an insight that the food is gonna be great.

A cosy and welcoming place to have a low key dinner. We throughly enjoyed steak frites, salad and a coupe of champagne. Staff were extremely friendly and efficient.

When we arrived, we had to wait quite a while to be seated. Once we were finally shown to our table, it was still dirty, and the staff seemed inattentive, ignoring us for some time. We ordered water, which arrived in a bottle that still had dish soap residue and was dripping as if it had just been rinsed in the sink. Later, someone brought the wrong order and left it in front of me; even after I told them three times it wasn’t mine, they only then took it back. By the time my actual order arrived, I was already disappointed. The steak was quite small for €28, and the sauce was overwhelmingly peppery, masking most of the flavor. The atmosphere is pleasant—probably the only justification for such high prices given the minimal effort in both service and quality.

Terrible service. Walked in this morning (21/03) as we happened to be around to reserve a table for the following day for lunch, the manager told us that he doesn’t have time and we need to book online. He was visibly not busy enough to not assist us with a simple task. Will spend my planned €300 elsewhere, my money doesn’t have time for such service either! It’s the principle that counts.

We were headed for a place around the corner that turned out to be mobbed (around 5:30pm) so we found this place. We weren't looking for a full meal, more like a rest and a substantial snack. We had some very nice asparagus with a poached egg and hollandaise. Then shared a lovely order of lobster linguine. Everything was tasty and the atmosphere was relaxed.

Very unfriendly staff. We had to wait a long time for the cheesecake, which was inconvenient for a quick coffee, although it was tasty. The toilet was dirty and smelly; the soap was gone. No spoon with the tea or coffee. I'll never come here again!

Dire service, nice enough place decent soup but the rest never arrived. When we said we had to leave after waiting 1.5 hours we were told it was our fault because we asked for the main course to arrive after the soup. When charged for food we didn’t get, change was pulled out of the cash register and hurled on the counter with a comical display of petulance. It may be trying to achieve French cafe stylishness but without the competence.

Always a warm bath at Libertine. The people who work there are extremely friendly, the food is super French bistro; the eggs Benedict, the fish and risotto are my favorite and all the snacks are great. The basics, like the French fries, the daily fresh bread and the salads are all top. They serve the best beer; Stella Artois. It is as if you are in Paris; so reads the menu as well.

Eggs benedict is a must for a brunch!

Enjoyed a delicious lunch; it was really good and tasty. There was plenty of staff walking around and it was "okay busy," but certainly no more than that. And yet, it was very difficult to get in touch with the wait staff. That is why I had to walk to the bar myself three times to order drinks and ask for the bill.

We were here a few years ago and recently and we absolutely love the food!

We recently dined at Libertine on the Noordermarkt, and unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to our expectations. After putting down the only menu and bringing our drinks, we received very little help. No side dishes are served with the main courses, which isn't a problem in itself, but it would have been nice if this had been explicitly mentioned when we took our order. When we received our dishes and asked if fries were included, we were not so kindly told that they were "listed on the menu." Because we had to share between three people, we didn't thoroughly review the menu and therefore didn't read it. After our main courses were taken, no one came to our table to ask if we wanted to order anything else, like dessert or a drink. Ultimately, after a long wait, we went to the bar ourselves to order something. We also had to go to the bar to pay for the meal. All in all, it's a shame. It's not a large restaurant, and I think there were enough staff on the counter, so the service could have been much better. Hopefully this will be picked up in the future, because the location and atmosphere certainly have potential.

A place I love to eat at. Every time I come, I tell my partner, who lives here, that we should come too. However, today, Sunday, when we went in to ask if they had space for two, since we were nearby, a very tall girl with blue eyes told us, without even looking or checking, that everything was "very busy." My partner then checked online to see if we could make a reservation, and sure enough, there WAS space available 10 minutes later. We made the reservation, waited, and went back in when it was time. The same girl came to ask us, and we told her, "We checked online and it let us make a reservation." Well, she laughed, didn't apologize or say anything at all, and then another, much friendlier gentleman came to serve us. :))) I don't understand that attitude, haha. BUT I will keep coming here to eat because the food is VERY good.

I was really excited to try it cause we are basically neighbors…We came by as a walk in at 3:30pm….we were rudely told they close in 1 hour even though the schedule is till 6pm

We came at 3:30 and asked for a table for 2 people and we could see at least 2 tables outside and a few inside available. The girl told “yeah but we are closing now” Bye Felicia

Good atmosphere, open kitchen, friendly service and delicious food

Lovely place for lunch. Went with a group of friends. Food was a bit slow to arrive but very nice once it got to us. Service sometimes a bit too casual, but very friendly and overall a good experience.

Delicious salad Nicoise, nice white starched tablecloth, and a good location in Amsterdam.

The service was quite blunt and abrupt. When we asked if it was possible to sit outside, the answer was a very curt “no”, without giving an explanation or anything. We were supposed to know our entire order within 1 minute, which we didn't know yet, and then waited 20 minutes to order food. The bill also took a very long time. So, service not top-notch; some of the employees couldn't even manage a smile. Otherwise, the food was fine, and the restaurant looked nice inside.

SKIP. Honestly I think this place has had its “heyday”. The service was shocking and the atmosphere terrible. They don’t clean tables, table clothes were all stained / holes. We asked for a few things and the waitresses kept forgetting things. They didn’t have sparkling water ?! When we asked to sit outside when seats were clearly available they refused and put their friends there instead. *two tips - skip it go somewhere else. But if you do book do it on their website as on google you don’t have the option to book an outside seat.

Nice atmosphere. The pasta vongole was pretty bad, it barely had any flavour and had tons of onions.. Such a shame. The service was average.

This is a beautiful cafe near the jordan area. I ordered the eggs norwegian, which was one of the best I had. My friend ordered steak sandwich which she loved as well. Her fries were exceptional. The outdoors area is very cozy, facing the lively streets of Amsterdam. The cafe makes you feel fancy. Didn’t think that the service was exceptional and our food arrived a bit late, but it wasn’t something that would ruin our mood. It was a lovely experience and would love to go again.

It seemed there were many locals here. If there were other Americans in there, I couldn't tell. Their kitchen really knows their way around fish -- salmon, 'baby' bass. The steak was well prepared but tough. Wine selection was very good and accessible price-wise.

Awful. Just don’t. The third person we asked finally got some water for us. The baby sole was tasteless and over-fried, the schnitzel was nothing more than flavorless over-fried breading. Service was very spotty. They’re not even trying to be the fine French restaurant that are posing as. Just don’t.

The manager is rude and arrogant (those are the nicest words I could find to describe him). His manner with customers is aggressive and creates a sense of being challenged by his words.

Especially a very arrogant (I suspect) manager. It's cringe-inducing how rude and condescending he is. Ugh.

It is a small restaurant however we made a reservation beforehand, we were seated and served very quickly wait time for food was very good and portion size was amazing the quality of the food was unreal 100% coming back again

Very friendly welcome. Excellent service throughout the evening. Food was excellent. It was cold at the entrance, though, and that made the experience really unpleasant. I think at least 3-7 tables around the entrance were affected. Such a shame!

Had a delicious lunch at this French-style restaurant on Noordermarkt in the heart of the Jordaan district. A great menu with reasonable prices. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. Even in winter, they have a terrace where you can sit comfortably and people-watch.

I was at Libertine's today. The guy serving was really nice. He had a great flow and was good at his job. Keep it up, Libertine! I'll be back soon.

Don’t know why this is below 4 stars. It’s a lovely cafe with great staff, delicious food, and right next to the weekend market. This is one of my favorite spots to bring my friends.

I cannot be certain but I may have gotten food poisoning from the oysters here… my friend has the same issue: vomit, diarrhea and fever.

Very attractive restaurant in the evening where we tried various fish dishes such as the scallops (delicious). Pasta Vangole tasted okay but floated quite a bit in the oil - which was a bit awkward to eat. Steak tartare from my table companions, on the other hand, was very popular! Good to know: few vegetarian options for dinner. One disadvantage: we had to wait almost 30 minutes (without drinks) for our table. Conclusion: recommended, but you may have to be patient upon arrival.

It used to be better. Kitchen is doing terrible job now. Throughout the past 3 years the service was always terrible and the food was atleast nice. Now both sucks. The only thing this place has is the location now.

I made a reservation for 8:30 am and I was right on time. It took more than 5 minutes before I was addressed and I had to wait more than 30 minutes before I could sit at the table, really ridiculous. The waitress said that I could wait outside differently (sitting comfortably when it is less than 10 degrees outside) and I then had to ask if I could have a drink. No apologies of sorry for the wait or anything like that. We also got a table closest to the door, where you could always feel the cold air from outside. The starters were tasty (scallop & shrimp croquette). For the main course I had ribeye which was fine, but the pasta vongole was really not tasty. After dinner I wanted to pay, I asked 4 or 5 times if I could have the bill, but it also took a very long time. I certainly won't be back and I won't recommend Libertine to anyone either.

At first I’ve checked the reviews and they were not that great, but as soon as I saw a perfect table on a sunny terrace I could not resist. I must say that I’ve had one of the best French Toasts in the city and absolutely delicious Eggs Benedict. I was there for brunch after the Noorden Market on Monday. Service was friendly and attentive, prices are reasonable, the restaurant was busy. Definitely would come back again!

Sympathetic and helpful service. Delicious food. A few points of attention: * the can of olives explicitly states that they must be served chilled. Then it's a shame if they are still at room temperature. * Also provide a bowl or plate for the bowls with the tiger prawns and a bowl of water with lemon or a lemon cloth to clean your hands. * We had to ask very often where side dishes and desserts were, which was a shame because things couldn't be enjoyed at the same time. One dish did not even arrive at all and was said to be 'immediately taken off the bill', but the latter turned out not to be the case. It was busy, so that could happen, but still.

Great soup of the day over a long lunch.

This was probably the best dinner we had while vacationing in Amsterdam. I highly recommend the restaurant.

Gezellige place with good food and service

I saw the bad reviews, so I was a bit skeptical. Great lunch in a prime spot outside in the sun. Staff was very nice and helpful. So just go.

Excellent French chef in this well located corner bistrot. Typical French food. The outside terrasse is sunny (whenever Amsterdam is sunny!). Across the street from the market. Ideal place to take a second look at all the vintage hats you bought!

Nice location, service was very bad. The lady who served us was visibly irritated that she had to serve and everything was too much to ask for. The club sandwich chicken had no flavor.

Host lied to us that they were closing early because we had a young child with us. Convinced him to seat us, ordered chocolate, but never got it. Not a good time!

Expectations were high but they've destroyed it. Food was average, not the best so far. Cocktails were ok and they didn't have French wine while they supposed to have (since they're French cafe) and the tables were so narrow. I'm pretty sure that I won't visit there again.

Nice place on the Noordermarkt. Delicious food with excellent price-quality ratio, top! Service seems a bit rushed and unfortunately the cozy terrace is no longer there, so we sit inside where the atmosphere is also great and with a French touch!

Food was good. Staff was friendly. Nothing to complain about!!

I know that in Amsterdam staff is hard to find. As a result they can play music as loud as they want to help them through shifts. But unless you like Madonna at disco soundlevels maybe you should lunch somewhere where you can have a conversation.

A really small menu with limited options and on top of it after 4pm half of them are not available.

One of my favorites in Amsterdam!

Before Corona this was a great place. I live nearby and loved coming there. It's not a nice place anymore right now. Food is of very poor quality. The service in particular is hopeless. Disinterested, arrogant and simply unfriendly. Don't waste energy here and walk a bit to a restaurant/bar where they will be happy to welcome you.

Today is my birthday and I was really looking forward to French fries. Café Amsterdam was full, so I made a reservation at Libertine for a small group. Because it was afternoon, we could only order the small bites and side dishes. Lunch dishes were already excluded. A friend surprised me with a large balloon with 50 years on it and a large bouquet of flowers. You would think that the staff would realize that someone at the table has a birthday and has turned 50. You would think that at least a polite congratulations would be appropriate. No, no. None of that. What is going wrong with the normal manners of the young generation? Really scandalous, unfriendly and very bad. These girls don't understand anything. Hospitality business. Haughty and arrogant. I regret tipping them too. Because this doesn't actually deserve a cent of tip. This is very unfortunate. I don't have to come there anymore.

A big PASS. I stopped by on a sunny afternoon to get a glass of wine. It’s a nice setting for that. Decent wine. I can attest to some of the other comments referring to so-so service. My server was fine, but I did notice on several occasions that some people were not getting waited on as if they didn’t belong. A couple tables went in and ordered because the server didn’t come out. No excuse for making people feel unwanted. They also have reserved placard‘s on all the outdoor tables even though they’re not reserved. They’ll decide if you deserve to sit there or not by eyeing you up and down, kind of a ‘status’ thing. Why, I have no idea. Can’t attest to the food and probably won’t because I’m not planning on returning. That’s all for now.

Always cosy and lekker 😊 if there is a sun outside, just sit in the terrace and enjoy the sun with a lovely food. Recommended!!

Libertine op de Noordermarkt is een charmante bistro met een gezellige sfeer. Het personeel is uiterst vriendelijk en attent, wat de eetervaring nog aangenamer maakt. De menukaart biedt een verscheidenheid aan smakelijke opties. Hoewel de foto van het eten dat ik heb gemaakt niet heel scherp smaakte het goed! Een aanrader voor een ontspannen avondje uit!

The perfect dinner date spot!!! Wow! Highly recommend. Make a res because it can be hard to get a table. The salads are delicious (all of them, but the lentil one was my favorite).
