I ordered the yogurt bowl with fruit, and well… there was hardly any fruit, and it wasn't anything special. It was expensive for what you get. My friend had a burger, and it wasn't anything special either. The coffee was good.

Came here with my girlfriend and absolutely loved it. We had the bufala toast and the chicken bacon toast — honestly the best of the best. Great coffee, super friendly service by the owner, and a really warm atmosphere. Highly recommended. — Lenz & Dora, Brussels

Excellent food, very kind waitresses. The only real problem is the guy at the door who seats customers. He's totally incapable of organizing the room, lacking empathy, and quite arrogant. He provides unsolicited information and constantly opens the door, making everyone else freeze. If it weren't for him, everything would be perfect!

Quite a small place with good food or coffee. So the place works both for eating or getting a cup of coffee.

We had a reservation at 12:00, we arrived 12:11 and we were told that they gave our table they have a 10 mins policy. Everybody was hicely settled so in 1 min they allocated the table and they were settled. Wow pretty quick. The attitude was terribly rude. And I dont think that there is anything special, just one of these brunch places.

Yes, the food is good, staff really friendly and try to accomodate you in no time. I moved in Amsterdam for one year and with Locals I started almost every weekend. You cannot go wrong with their flat white and banana bread, which are amazing.

Not surprised to see a few bad reviews about the drinks and the staff. The chai latte I had was pretty bad, it was lukewarm and poorly made, and the staff wasn’t friendly. The branding is great, but the place really needs to improve its hospitality and food.

Wonderful corner cafe with large windows on a quiet tree-lined street - its no wonder the name is Locals - sipping your handcrafted coffee and watching the neighborhood through the large windows - you feel "local". Staff is very welcoming, quick service, we had a latte and filter coffee with a small container of warm milk on the side. The filter coffee was the best cup of coffee I had in a 10-day visit to Amsterdam with notes from both the beans and roasting coming through with each sip. I also recommend the carrot cake slice - if you love frosting this loaf doesn't disappoint with a couple inch high covering of light cream cheese frosting. My partner found a chunk of a carrot as well highlighting the homemade goodness. Recommend reservations on weekends - outdoor seating available - although you would need to be hearty soul to sit out there in the cold wind the morning we visited. Would definitely return next time in Amsterdam.

On weekends, you can expect to wait for a table due to the crowds. Inside, it can be quite loud due to the poor acoustics. The coffee is really good, as are the pastries. The lunch dishes are excellent. There aren't many options, but it's perfectly fine for vegetarians.

We wanted to have breakfast together as we love specialty coffee, and this place seemed perfect. Unfortunately, the service was rushed; a few seconds passed between being seated and being asked to place our order. I understand that the place is small and that they unfortunately have to "serve a lot of people," but they should at least be understanding of the tourists and the -15°C weather outside. Is it really so difficult to wait an extra 120 seconds for our table? Furthermore, a piece of toast with avocado and two eggs costs €15.50, a bowl of yogurt with some out-of-season fruit is €13, and oat milk is an additional €0.50… It's a shame it was so cold; I would have preferred to be outside to avoid the noise. If the service had been pleasant, I wouldn't have bothered reading reviews of this coffee shop, alas…

The menu is brief, but perfect. They do what they do very well. The coffee is expertly poured and the eggs are flawlessly executed. Delicious way to start the day.

Locals is very popular right now, but we managed to get a table at short notice. The location is lovely and the service is truly excellent! However, in my opinion, the food is too expensive for what it actually is. There are other, more affordable places to eat!

The best coffee I've had in Amsterdam

Food was good, but we had to wait for it for over an hour, because they forgot our order. This was very upsetting, but at least we got free drinks & fries because of it.

I had poached eggs and avocado toast. Avocado needed more flavour, more salt, garlic perhaps, red onions, tomatoes, something…but otherwise all good 👍🏻

Our Hot drinks (Hot chocolates and Matcha Latte) were cold. Hot chocolate had little chocolate in it. Scrambled eggs were not proper scrambled and just liked plain omelette. Kids loved the pancakes. Banana bread was average. Overall disappointing experience.

The food was really good, but overall it was way too expensive. To add 2 pieces of bacon to my toast, we had to pay 5 euros extra. 5 euros for 2 pieces of bacon?! That’s insane. Overall the food was not “special” enough to be worth that much money. Also the tea was really bad. It was very murky and was only with very little water in it. When buying tea at a restaurant, I expect bigger amounts of hot water, since it’s just water. This was basically half a cup of water. Also the waiting time for food was 35 minutes, and all our drinks were done by that time. All in all the café is very noisy and I feel bad for the 1 waiter, who had to take care of orders and handing out the food to approximately 45 people. I counted 25 inside, and outside was very crowded too. He was in such a hurry all the time, which can’t possible be good for his health.

Great brunch spot and brilliant food! We recommend the eggs benny and the truffle scramble eggs or sourdough toast. The good quality is incredible and so tasty, on top of that the staff were very friendly and quick service. We had to queue to get in but this went down within a matter of minutes - I highly recommend Locals to anyone.

Good place for brunch. The waiters are friendly and attentive. The menu is not extensive, but the options they offer sound very good. I ordered the eggs with avocado hollandaise sauce and fries. It was delicious and tasty. The eggs were cooked to perfection, a good poached egg. I also ordered a flat white and fresh orange juice.

Chaos, we didn’t wait for the waiter on the terrace and just left.

The experience was disappointing because they refused to split the bill. It’s 2025,- most places can easily handle that, but here they made it unnecessarily complicated and awkward for our group. We ended up wasting time sorting out payments ourselves, which really spoiled the end of an otherwise nice meal. Definitely not returning unless they fix this outdated policy.

I would like to begin by saying that I am a regular visitor at Locals and have always appreciated both the quality of the food and the overall atmosphere. However, I feel compelled to share a disappointing experience I had during my recent visit for lunch. While the food remained tasty and the environment clean and welcoming, the interaction I had with the young lady at the counter (with short red hair and facial piercings) was extremely unpleasant. I had not requested the bill at the table, so I approached the counter, as I noticed others doing, and waited patiently while the staff member behind the counter finished what she was doing. From her bent-over position, she mumbled something I couldn’t understand. I politely said, “Sorry?” to ask her to repeat, but again, she mumbled without making eye contact. Before I could respond, she abruptly asked, “The bill?” in a noticeably annoyed and impolite tone. I replied, “Yes, please,” but she didn’t acknowledge me. Instead, she rotated the payment terminal and slammed it on the counter. After I paid, I said “Thank you,” but again I received no response. I left feeling genuinely disheartened. The lack of basic courtesy and the dismissive attitude left a sour impression, which is unfortunate given how much I’ve enjoyed Locals in the past.

Disappointed with a cold eggs Benny...wife had a hot one so not sure what happened. Waitress never checked on the meal until finished which might have helped get a replacement. Manager did comp part of the meal so that showed they were concerned...

This is their “famous” Smash burger… for €18,50… what you see is what you get… a plain, flat, burger, my guess would be 80grams? 100 max. a small bun, nothing much… It tasted okay, but I think €10,50 is what it’s worth. Btw great service! Very acomodating and flexible on a busy afternoon. Not good value for price for their Smash Burger in my opinion. Yes! I will come back, the chicken avocado looked great, will try it next time… but this small finger-food burger just disappointed a lot and is too expensive.

This was the most underwhelming brunch ever - extremely loud place, food was unseasoned and prices absolutely unreasonable for the quality of food they serve. Will not be going back. The server claimed “they cannot split the bill because the system does not allow it” - the receipt literally showed splitting options on it.

The doug is good and service very friendly. The portion is quite big. Also matcha latte is excellent.

We arrived without a reservation and after having to queue, we where asked to leave our table after 1 hour sharp (to the minute). Nobody told us beforehand (otherwise we would have left) and we had to drink our coffee fast. I never had to leave a brunch place after only 1 hour. Very good food though.

The two servers were very friendly, food was very good and the coffee was the best part for me.

August 2025, Only having a coffee not their favourite thing. 80% free seats and wondering where to seat you. While they 'advertise' with their coffee. Also too much acidity (to my taste) in the Cappuccino. Especially when asking € 4.20 for a small one. Staff not too attending. Overall to me it good be a bit better.

Locals is a lovely spot with good breakfast options especially when the queue for bakers and roasters has 32 people waiting. Just avoid the smash burger. The breakfasts yesterday were good and the coffee too. However, the burgers were so unsatisfying that I’d recommend they be taken off the menu or reimagined. The burgers we got had too much cheese and sauce and the meat patty was about as thin as a well known fast food chain. Also not smashed by any means. The eggs benny and scrambled eggs though, are good. Friendly service and warm staff.

Small hip restaurant with delicious food and drinks. Their smoothies and chai latte were great! Patio is nice and quiet and shaded. A little on the pricier side, but worth it overall.

Nice looking when you come in, but the acoustics are terrible. Noisy coffee machines and nothing on the walls to buffer the noise. My truffle scrambled eggs were boring, no flavor. The best part was the salmon. My second cappuccino had been sitting and the foam had bubbled down, it was lukewarm. Two others with me didn’t think the food had much taste either.

I tried poached eggs with avocado and eggs benedict. Both were good. However, the already high prices increase with each small addition. The cappuccino and matcha latte were also good.

Locals is a cozy spot with really good pancakes and some of the best hot chocolate I had in Amsterdam. The coffee, however, was a bit bland, and the sourdough bread with eggs was quite disappointing. Still worth a stop for the pancakes and hot drinks, but maybe skip the more savory options.

Waiters are really nice and courteous. Food tastes amazing but it‘s a bit on the expensive side. We had the smash Burger, the pancakes and the veggie sandwich (we ordered it without the mushroom which was absolutely no problem). But sadly the chairs weren‘t that comfortable. All in all it was a great meal and we can 100% recommend it

We ask to add some mushroom and he said i cant and we ask for the egg done he said it comes in one status.i ordered some egg with truffle sauce as they said but it comes very dry and no sauce at all i did not see any sauce.
