Loetje Amsterdam aan 't IJ in Noordelijke IJ-oevers West

During dinner with my family, gravy spilled on my coat while it was being served. This was handled properly on the spot with a damage report. To prevent further damage, I immediately took the coat to the dry cleaner myself – afterwards, it turned out the stain was irremovable. However, regarding compensation, Loetje wants to assess the jacket themselves first, whereas the dry cleaner will only release it once I pay the costs. So, I have to incur costs myself for an attempt that yielded no results before any further consideration is given to compensation. Had I known beforehand that a purchase amount exceeding €250 means the item must be handed over or shipped immediately, I could have left the coat right away. As far as I am concerned, this should be standard practice on the damage report. An unworkable state of affairs, and a reason for our family not to visit here again.

Loetje's locations are, of course, known for their excellent steak. Here too, we ate the perfect, tender, perfectly medium rare steak. The location, overlooking the IJ, is highly recommended! You can moor your boat directly at the large terrace!

The steak is just regular, there is no secret sauce it is just plaaaanty of oil and butter! If you eat that much oil there is high probability of needing a hospital by the night.

This is a great place for dinner - even for vegetarians! (Biefstuk 0.0). If you would like to come by boat, you can easily just dock next to the restaurant which is cool and unique for this location ⚓️

Beautiful location along the water, had a delicious meal!

The service was really bad; I had to wait at least half an hour before a waiter spoke to me, while everyone who came in after me was served within a few minutes. The food was great, but the service was terrible.

It takes a very long time to get food; we have been sitting here for 1 hour and 30 minutes and still no food, and we are getting the wrong food.

I hada friend in town and brought them there. By the water great food and service and fantastic atmosphere. Thanks!! ☆☆☆UPDATE☆☆☆ still fantastic!!!

Enjoyed a lunch at Loetje that we scored with the AH deal. Meat, gravy, salad, and fries. It was delicious! Drinks were offered repeatedly, but the food took a while to arrive. Due to lack of time, I couldn't fully enjoy the other delicacies on the menu. We sat inside, but the outdoor terrace looked very cozy. Highly recommended

It was a bit chaotic, too warm inside, and unfortunately the food wasn't great this time. Nothing was done about this after I pointed it out. Unfortunately, not what I've come to expect from Loetje!

I recently celebrated my 50th birthday here with a group of 15 people, following a pleasant boat trip. We had a lovely private room with a beautiful view. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. Everything was excellently prepared and organized by Loetje. As a result, we were able to fully enjoy this special day. It was even better than we had expected. Many thanks for the good service and the wonderful experience!

Upon arrival, it was indicated that the waiting time would be approximately 30 minutes (for guests with a reservation, mind you), but ultimately we had to wait nearly an hour. We had reserved for 7:00 PM and at 7:55 PM we still had not been assigned a table. What made this even more disappointing was the attitude of the staff. Not a single apology was offered for the delay. On the contrary, the staff came across as rude, irritated, and defensive when we inquired about the status of our reservation. Additionally, we were told multiple times that it would take "about another ten minutes," while the waiting time continued to increase. Although I fully understand that these kinds of situations are often not the staff's fault, an apology, explanation, or any form of accountability would have meant a great deal to me. Moreover, while waiting, someone came by with a platter of bitterballen, noting that we were allowed to take one bitterball due to the long wait. Again, no apology was offered, no explanation given, and no responsibility taken for the situation. As if a bitterball could make up for waiting nearly an hour for a reserved table. Absurd. I find this unacceptable in every respect. Because of this experience, I will not return here, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant to others either.

Loetje is always a good choice if you just want to grab a tasty piece of meat... However, it is starting to look a bit like a gluttony factory (with all due respect). It is often extremely busy; at this location, it is always very warm inside due to the large, albeit beautiful, windows. The service is usually not the problem, nor is the meat itself; the side dishes are part of the experience and we always thoroughly enjoy them!! In terms of price-quality ratio, I give it a 7.5. My personal tip: order the garlic steak with what has never been a problem for us at Loetje... the Bali jus on the side; that way, you get the most delicious flavor combination of pure meat with a sauce.

I had my birthday dinner there: the staff were so helpful, the food was soo yum! And the atmosphere was great. One note: they need to get the Air conditioning on because when the place is full, it gets SUPER HOT indoors

The food took more than 1 hour to arrive, don’t go if you don’t want to wait. We wanted to take away our unfinished meal. They took it and never returned. The restaurant fixed everything. They cooked a new dish to take away, dropped our current bill by half and gave us a gift card worth 50€ for the next visit. They have done really a lot to rectify. We are thankful.

One of my favorite places really disappointed me today. We had a reservation with 6 ppl (3 kids) And we still needed to wait with over 50 ppl outside who all had reservations and were not seated. The staff couldn't answer how long we'd have to wait, but after waiting 30 min we gave up. Avoid this location when the weather is nice and do not trust their booking system. The perfect example of bad management.

Delicious steak, friendly staff and beautiful view

Food was awesome, and we able to sit outside, right in front of the river with a beautiful view. The entries and main dishes were tasty and way better than expected, so we enjoyed a lot. Only the desserts weren't good. The cheesecake for example, seemed like bought from somewhere, with an average quality, and we had had high expectations, as all the previous dishes were good. So, it was a bit frustrating finishing the dinner in that way. Definitely, the restaurant worth going there, and enjoying a good time.

The food is of excellent quality and flavor. Great wines. Very good service. The desserts are not of good quality and the bathroom was in terrible condition. But none of that takes away from the pleasure of dining with a beautiful view and watching the sunsets.

It's a shame Loetje isn't Loetje anymore it used to be top-notch quality, but unfortunately nothing is left of that, a pity for such a beautiful, top location ,

Beautiful location with the best sunset views. You can sit on big terrace or see the views from the inside due to glass walls. Cocktails (aperol and mojito) were fresh, delicious and big. The food was super tasty as well - beetroot tartar, steak with garlic sauce and my EXCELLENT plantbased steak - I’m so happy I can easily get vegan steak nowadays and Loetje prepares it so well. Service was also very friendly. Ps. Don’t have pictures of food cause it was so good it was gone too fast.

Always lovely at Loetje aan ‘t Ij. And for the first really sunny day, this was the perfect spot for a late lunch or early dinner.

The staff are all friendly and the food is delicious. The sweet potato fries are insane, in particular! They come with garlic sauce. A staff member named Pietro from Italy was especially kind, so I was in a good mood even before the steak arrived. He even guided me to a comfortable seat 👍👍 The prices are reasonable, and I highly recommend it.

Had a wonderful meal with the seniors via Brentano. Very good and very friendly and helpful service. Everyone enjoyed the location and the food. It was great.

Today we had dinner with our older friend at Loetje aan het IJ. We informed them in advance that we were coming with someone in a wheelchair. No problem at all. Upon arrival, we were given a nice spot. The service was very friendly and attentive. They really do their best to make it a celebration (it was a birthday dinner). Naturally, we ordered Loetje's delicious steak. And it certainly did not disappoint; it was mouthwatering. We had bread for dipping and fries with it. It went down a treat. For dessert, we had the warm waffle with crème brûlée, ice cream, whipped cream, and redcurrants. Also very tasty. In short, a very pleasant afternoon with a fantastic view.

The hamburger was disappointing.

I had made a reservation at Loetje aan ’t IJ and also asked if it was possible to sit by the window. The staff indicated that it was quite busy at the time, but that we could potentially move over later if a spot by the window became available. That sounded fine, of course. Unfortunately, that didn't happen in the end. While we were sitting there, we saw that two tables that arrived after us were able to move to a table by the window. We found that a bit disappointing, because we had been promised that we could move if a spot became available. Otherwise, the staff was friendly and the food was simply good, as you would expect at Loetje. All in all, we had a fine evening, but it would have been nicer if the agreement regarding the table by the window had actually been honored.

It has become a bit of a gluttony spot. You sit at a long table with complete strangers. Doesn't feel pleasant. There was a hair in my steak, but it took so terribly long for someone to come that I just let it go. On top of that, they charge top dollar for a kids' menu with steak. You could stick that in your hollow tooth; that was really just the scraps. Even for 8-year-olds, this is really nothing. Added to that, my coffee was cold, and we had to wait a very long time for a second round of drinks. Which they also poured into the old glasses, or at least they didn't pour them but didn't take the old glasses away either. A shame because we love Loetje, but it really feels like a disguised snack bar for a lot of money. We also wanted dessert, but when that menu took a good 15 minutes as well, we went home. The lady who served us (there were several) was very friendly and felt very sorry for us. For us, Bergen is a better place. Quieter and better atmosphere.

Quite pricey, but that probably won't be any different at other places, and certainly not in Amsterdam. The food was tasty. The mushroom soup was nicely thickened. We ordered the famous steak with gravy. The steak was nicely cooked and tender. I don't think the gravy was butter; it was a kind of salty, oily substance. I had expected something more spicy or thickened. The service was friendly, but I think they were understaffed. We ordered one portion of fries and one portion of grilled vegetables on the side, which were very tasty and easy to share. Parking isn't very expensive; it's a 5-minute walk, and you can drop someone with mobility issues right at the door. Nice location and spacious seating. You aren't sitting looking at the person next to you at the table.

A beautiful, modern grand café, Ah Water, with a lovely view of the IJ River. The fried egg sandwich was perfectly prepared.

We've been here for lunch many times now. Every time, the lunch is delicious, and the service is very fast and friendly. It's perfect in the summer because you can sit outside on the terrace. The view of the IJ River is also beautiful.

The food was good, the service was okay. Some were very friendly, others unfortunately not.

Initially, we were seated at a table by the window, but right in the doorway, so we caught a cold every time the door opened. Just after our first drink arrived, we mentioned it and were asked to sit upstairs. Actually, this was a much cozier spot for us, and as for the food, well, this is Loetje, so the food is always top-notch! Our only regret was that we'd ordered ice cream and Baileys coffee for dessert, but they weren't served at the same time. Now we're looking forward to better weather so we can moor from the IJ and enjoy a meal on the terrace. 🥰

Recommended to ask for the gravy on the side. Otherwise, way too much gravy. Cholesterol goes through the roof. But the setting is beautiful and the service is good.

Loetje aan het IJ is a bit grand, but a great place for a group to eat. We had 10 people, and the staff was excellent at taking and serving orders, with a wonderful Amsterdam sense of humor. A top-notch location!

It's a beautiful place, the view is fantastic, and most importantly, the food is excellent. The steak was perfectly cooked, the sauce was perfect; I especially recommend it with onions! I understand that service might take a little while on busy days, but it's definitely worth the wait.

I had a light meal there and found it very pleasant. The music wasn't too loud at 1 or 2 pm. It wasn't too crowded, and the staff were very friendly. Pietro, in particular, gave me some very helpful information, and because of that, I'll definitely be coming back with my girlfriend.

Great place in a great location. Fast and friendly service, and the steak with gravy is, of course, fantastic! That's what you go to Loetje for.

The atmosphere is great, it's super cozy inside. I thought it was the best steak in Amsterdam. The dessert was also delicious. I ordered the cheesecake and was very happy with it. The staff was very enthusiastic and friendly, and the food arrived quite quickly. I will definitely eat here again.

Enjoyed a delicious tenderloin steak at De Roode Waard on Christmas Day at Loetje Amsterdam on the IJ. We had to wait a long time at the bar for a staff member to show us to our table.

We had a wonderful meal here last night. The steaks at Loetje are always good, but this time they had a new steak: the truffle version. After the first bite, I was on another planet. I wouldn't be able to tear up at food, but this truffle steak came damn close! My compliments to the chef! As far as I'm concerned, this should go straight on the regular menu. It scores a 10+ and is absolutely recommended. I wish I could make it myself. I'd love to receive the recipe 😋😁 Oh, and the snowball, the new dessert, is very surprising in both appearance and taste. I would keep this on the menu too. In short, we had a fantastic meal last night! And the staff, the location, and the atmosphere are all excellent. The only improvement we could think of is more seating. These chairs are uncomfortable. We even heard the guests around us complaining. But the food more than made up for it 👌😋

Very nice place, nice view and most importantly, good food. The steak was on point, the sauce is excellent, recommend it with onions! I get that on a busy day it could take some time to get the served but it’s worth it.

I had a truly delicious appetizer of wonton "shells" with wasabi mayo and salmon—mmmm, truly delicious. The steak was also fantastic, except for the gravy, which I found rather greasy and not a great thing. Even the ice cream dessert was delicious. So, we'll meet up again soon for two appetizers and a smaller steak 🤪.

Loetje is a well-known name, especially on the IJ. Beautiful views, especially in the evening. I found the atmosphere a bit boisterous; the noise bothered me a lot, and that's mainly due to the echoing sound in the room. The food is more than good, and that's what you come for!

Loetje is a classic, but I recently had a disappointing experience. The vegetarian steak isn't recommended. For the price, you can get much better food and service elsewhere.

A wonderful atmosphere, a lovely view, and very friendly staff. The speed between courses is perfect, even if you're with a larger group like us. The food is "standard Loetje," no surprises, and excellent quality. Cons: the prices are really getting out of hand. The price is fine as long as you get fries and some vegetables, but that all has to be paid extra. Moreover, the food is so greasy that it's neither tasty nor healthy. The tenderloin is literally floating in a pack of (cream) butter. I didn't try the gravy, and even then, it was incredibly greasy. Perhaps serve the gravy separately?

As always, Loetje was fantastic. Delicious. Everyone was happy. The satay was delicious, the steak was excellent. Superb!

When we entered it was way too busy and we ended up getting a pager with which we waited 25 minutes. When we sat down at the table it took a very long time before we were helped, 1 hour after entering we had our first drink, in short, nice location, too little capacity

It’s a stunning waterfront restaurant. The food is prepared from the best ingredients , which results in their superlative signature dishes. The staff is friendly , knowledgable and highly efficient. The location is easily reached from the city by a short and nice ferry route and an eight minute walk through one of the most avant garde areas of amsterdam. Highly recommended

The food is, as always, what you've come to expect from Loetje: delicious! A good piece of meat and plenty of bread for dipping. The staff was very friendly and helpful in figuring out how many portions of fries we'd need. The location is beautiful, especially as evening fell, when the lights around the harbor began to sparkle.

As a Belgian, this was my first time at a restaurant in this chain. Beautiful location, perfect steak, and friendly service.

Everything was perfect, but the long, long wait until you can pay, even when we walked to the cash register we had to wait there for 12 minutes.

35 minutes of waiting for a lump of raw meat (“medium”) drowning in Croma soup and 4 slices of toasted bread from the Appie.

Today I had a traditional Dutch steak with white bread at Loetje aan het IJ. It tasted excellent. The service was quick and very friendly. It was quite full, so the atmosphere was pleasant. I don't come here often enough. Excellent!

Beautiful location! We had a delicious meal here and were able to hold a meeting in a separate room with a group of 20 people, enjoying a unique view of the harbor. We'll definitely be back!

What a terrible idea. Dirty and grimy is the first thing that comes to mind when I think back. We had booked a room upstairs for work. There were no spoons with the coffee, no coffee creamer, no wipes to clean anything, and the tables were filthy. The pens and notepads had already been used by someone else. You could see the printout on the pads. It was very noisy upstairs. Doors banged everywhere, and you could hear people in the hallway. Not all the sandwiches were eaten during lunch. But perhaps someone would have wanted to grab some during the meeting or a break. But that opportunity was already lost. The sandwiches had already been taken away without asking. Bland and filthy, absolutely not recommended.

One of my new favourite restaurents in Amsterdam for a decent steak. Its a bit out of the way, but once you are there you won't be disappointed. In particular the Knoflook Biefstuk is a real winner!

Beautiful spot on the IJ River; we were there for dinner, it was already dark, and it was lovely to watch the boats pass by with their lights. The food was excellent; also suitable for vegans and vegetarians. The price was very reasonable. Make sure you make a reservation, as it's usually packed!

The interior is well-finished, and the atmosphere immediately conveys that typical Amsterdam North "cool" vibe: spacious, relaxing, with well-spaced tables and large windows that give every seat a panoramic view. The food is good — the famous Loetje biefstuk (steak in its own butter sauce) deserves its reputation, tender and flavorful, accompanied by crispy fries. The other dishes also meet good standards, though they aren't particularly impressive. Unfortunately, the service is slow, with excessively long waits between orders and dishes, even at off-peak times. Furthermore, the prices are truly excessive for what's on offer: a simple dinner can easily run over €40 per person without wine. 📍In short: spectacular location and delicious cuisine, but disappointing value and service pace that could be improved. Ideal for a lunch with a view, less so for those seeking efficiency or value.

Delicious food, service, top chef can cook

We had a wonderful evening, but unfortunately, the service kept going wrong (due to the crowds???). It was a shame – it was resolved, but sometimes it was a very quick "runner" from the kitchen who put it down but didn't look at you. When we left, there was no one to say good evening to, and they didn't say good evening to us. Considering the price and our special family night (we never just go out for dinner), I thought it was a shame the service wasn't that great. The food was very tasty (and expensive), as if you order a steak, fries don't automatically come with it. In short, it was nice to have tried a Loetje.

Another fantastic meal! We had an Albert Heijn lunch voucher. We sat outside in the sunshine. Friendly service.
