Absolutely fantastic. The food was great and the view is amazing. Beautiful place.

I had a light meal there and found it very pleasant. The music wasn't too loud at 1 or 2 pm. It wasn't too crowded, and the staff were very friendly. Pietro, in particular, gave me some very helpful information, and because of that, I'll definitely be coming back with my girlfriend.

Great place in a great location. Fast and friendly service, and the steak with gravy is, of course, fantastic! That's what you go to Loetje for.

The atmosphere is great, it's super cozy inside. I thought it was the best steak in Amsterdam. The dessert was also delicious. I ordered the cheesecake and was very happy with it. The staff was very enthusiastic and friendly, and the food arrived quite quickly. I will definitely eat here again.

Enjoyed a delicious tenderloin steak at De Roode Waard on Christmas Day at Loetje Amsterdam on the IJ. We had to wait a long time at the bar for a staff member to show us to our table.

We had a wonderful meal here last night. The steaks at Loetje are always good, but this time they had a new steak: the truffle version. After the first bite, I was on another planet. I wouldn't be able to tear up at food, but this truffle steak came damn close! My compliments to the chef! As far as I'm concerned, this should go straight on the regular menu. It scores a 10+ and is absolutely recommended. I wish I could make it myself. I'd love to receive the recipe 😋😁 Oh, and the snowball, the new dessert, is very surprising in both appearance and taste. I would keep this on the menu too. In short, we had a fantastic meal last night! And the staff, the location, and the atmosphere are all excellent. The only improvement we could think of is more seating. These chairs are uncomfortable. We even heard the guests around us complaining. But the food more than made up for it 👌😋

Very nice place, nice view and most importantly, good food. The steak was on point, the sauce is excellent, recommend it with onions! I get that on a busy day it could take some time to get the served but it’s worth it.

I had a truly delicious appetizer of wonton "shells" with wasabi mayo and salmon—mmmm, truly delicious. The steak was also fantastic, except for the gravy, which I found rather greasy and not a great thing. Even the ice cream dessert was delicious. So, we'll meet up again soon for two appetizers and a smaller steak 🤪.

Loetje is a well-known name, especially on the IJ. Beautiful views, especially in the evening. I found the atmosphere a bit boisterous; the noise bothered me a lot, and that's mainly due to the echoing sound in the room. The food is more than good, and that's what you come for!

Loetje is a classic, but I recently had a disappointing experience. The vegetarian steak isn't recommended. For the price, you can get much better food and service elsewhere.

A wonderful atmosphere, a lovely view, and very friendly staff. The speed between courses is perfect, even if you're with a larger group like us. The food is "standard Loetje," no surprises, and excellent quality. Cons: the prices are really getting out of hand. The price is fine as long as you get fries and some vegetables, but that all has to be paid extra. Moreover, the food is so greasy that it's neither tasty nor healthy. The tenderloin is literally floating in a pack of (cream) butter. I didn't try the gravy, and even then, it was incredibly greasy. Perhaps serve the gravy separately?

As always, Loetje was fantastic. Delicious. Everyone was happy. The satay was delicious, the steak was excellent. Superb!

When we entered it was way too busy and we ended up getting a pager with which we waited 25 minutes. When we sat down at the table it took a very long time before we were helped, 1 hour after entering we had our first drink, in short, nice location, too little capacity

It’s a stunning waterfront restaurant. The food is prepared from the best ingredients , which results in their superlative signature dishes. The staff is friendly , knowledgable and highly efficient. The location is easily reached from the city by a short and nice ferry route and an eight minute walk through one of the most avant garde areas of amsterdam. Highly recommended

Everything just perfect service food and atmosphere

The food is, as always, what you've come to expect from Loetje: delicious! A good piece of meat and plenty of bread for dipping. The staff was very friendly and helpful in figuring out how many portions of fries we'd need. The location is beautiful, especially as evening fell, when the lights around the harbor began to sparkle.

Loetje's food never disappoints. But the service here is exceptionally good and friendly. You don't see that very often in Amsterdam anymore.

As a Belgian, this was my first time at a restaurant in this chain. Beautiful location, perfect steak, and friendly service.

Everything was perfect, but the long, long wait until you can pay, even when we walked to the cash register we had to wait there for 12 minutes.

Today I had a traditional Dutch steak with white bread at Loetje aan het IJ. It tasted excellent. The service was quick and very friendly. It was quite full, so the atmosphere was pleasant. I don't come here often enough. Excellent!

35 minutes of waiting for a lump of raw meat (“medium”) drowning in Croma soup and 4 slices of toasted bread from the Appie.

Beautiful location! We had a delicious meal here and were able to hold a meeting in a separate room with a group of 20 people, enjoying a unique view of the harbor. We'll definitely be back!

What a terrible idea. Dirty and grimy is the first thing that comes to mind when I think back. We had booked a room upstairs for work. There were no spoons with the coffee, no coffee creamer, no wipes to clean anything, and the tables were filthy. The pens and notepads had already been used by someone else. You could see the printout on the pads. It was very noisy upstairs. Doors banged everywhere, and you could hear people in the hallway. Not all the sandwiches were eaten during lunch. But perhaps someone would have wanted to grab some during the meeting or a break. But that opportunity was already lost. The sandwiches had already been taken away without asking. Bland and filthy, absolutely not recommended.

Beautiful spot on the IJ River; we were there for dinner, it was already dark, and it was lovely to watch the boats pass by with their lights. The food was excellent; also suitable for vegans and vegetarians. The price was very reasonable. Make sure you make a reservation, as it's usually packed!

One of my new favourite restaurents in Amsterdam for a decent steak. Its a bit out of the way, but once you are there you won't be disappointed. In particular the Knoflook Biefstuk is a real winner!

The other dishes also meet good standards, though they aren't particularly impressive. Unfortunately, the service is slow, with excessively long waits between orders and dishes, even at off-peak times. Furthermore, the prices are truly excessive for what's on offer: a simple dinner can easily run over €40 per person without wine. 📍In short: spectacular location and delicious cuisine, but disappointing value and service pace that could be improved. Ideal for a lunch with a view, less so for those seeking efficiency or value.

We had a wonderful evening, but unfortunately, the service kept going wrong (due to the crowds???). It was a shame – it was resolved, but sometimes it was a very quick "runner" from the kitchen who put it down but didn't look at you. When we left, there was no one to say good evening to, and they didn't say good evening to us. Considering the price and our special family night (we never just go out for dinner), I thought it was a shame the service wasn't that great. The food was very tasty (and expensive), as if you order a steak, fries don't automatically come with it. In short, it was nice to have tried a Loetje.

Don’t think to much. They serve the best steak in a buttery sauce, accompane it with fries and mushrooms, drink something and enjoy the desert. Smile, pay and go home with your full belly! Delicious, clean and always on point staff!

Beautiful location, nice atmosphere. It took a very long time, 30 minutes, before we could order drinks. The food was delicious, but the portions of the steak and tuna steak were a bit small. The quality of the meat and fish was good.

The location is lovely, right on the water. Nice view, and when it's dark, you can see all the lights. It's always packed; you make a reservation, but you still have to wait for a table. The acoustics are terrible, especially when it's so busy. You can barely hear each other over the din. It's way too expensive for what you get. €25.50 for a classic steak, €4.75 for mushrooms, €6.75 for fries, and €6.75 for a salad. A total of €43.75 for a piece of meat with salad and fries. Way overpriced, especially for what it is. Cold inside and hot outside. The three of us spent almost €200 without alcohol, coffee, and dessert. Ugh. Parking is a nightmare; it would be better to use the pound. No, since it was acquired by private equity, I think, it's been ridiculously expensive.

The view is fantastic. On the IJ side, you have a panoramic view. It's lovely during the day, and truly amazing after dark thanks to the lights from the houses and buildings. Unfortunately, the acoustics are poor. Screaming children—sorry for the parents—quickly become deafening. I would try to do something about that. Sound-dampening panels or something.

The staff was terrible this evening. The drinks orders were wrong. They also put it wrong on the receipt, and with much sighing, it was taken off. We were even asked if we needed two glasses of wine, since it said two wines and three soft drinks for the other guests. How dare they ask after such mistakes, you wonder? During dinner, we were only asked once if we wanted drinks... all in all, not a very good experience. The room is also very noisy, with small tables and people sitting on top of each other. There's no conviviality like in many other Loetje restaurants. A shame.

What a very nice evening, good food and very nice staff

We have been on a b-day party. Food was pretty good, service was quite bad though. They had some music device but had no idea how to use it. Kids were getting the food after adults (multiple times). Deserts were brought pretty late given the amount of young children we had (after 9?). Aoetizers were quite delicious. Dessert excellent! Bief and tuna stake both very good. Side dish... Typical Dutch fries :-). The view is nice though.

We came for our last dinner in Amsterdam and wow was I impressed! I was the only vegan at a table of 8 and I got the beet burger. It was SO good!! Highly recommend!

Beautiful location, atmospheric restaurant. The cappuccino was barely warm. The chicken sandwich wasn't very filling. The 12-o'clock snack was fine, as were the chicken club sandwich and the jackfruit rendang sandwich. Friendly staff. We'll definitely be back.

Just had dinner with the two of us. We ordered two steaks. One was perfect, the other was unfortunately overcooked and not as I'd requested. When I paid, they politely asked if everything was to my liking, and when I pointed it out, the steak was duly removed from the bill, and the employee apologized. It was resolved perfectly. It's a good restaurant, definitely worth a visit!

A prime location, and then apparently, the rest doesn't matter anymore? Terrible coffee from a fully automatic machine at a premium barista price, having to ask twice (and it wasn't busy) for a carafe of water, toilets with crooked seats, open trash cans covered in flies. It all looks a bit subpar. The chicken club sandwich was so drenched in a mayo-like sauce that our cheeks were thoroughly rubbed dry, but we didn't taste any chicken. A shame. The view makes up for a lot, but not everything. A one-time visit.

This is my regular spot for lunch or dinner. They're not stingy: we always get a generous portion of carpaccio for him and steak tartare for me. Don't forget to order the tenderloin steak—it's absolutely delicious! The area is lovely and cozy, and we can also watch the boats sail by. This is my favorite Loetje location. There's a Q-Park nearby; it's only a short walk from there. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

Great location, friendly staff, and excellent food. It was a shame, though, that one steak was overcooked. It simply wasn't rare or pink. It was also nice that while we had to wait for a table, we could enjoy a drink in the lounge. Absolutely fantastic.

Absolutely delicious steak! Tender, juicy and delicious. It came with the most scrumptious sauces and was an incredible experience.The service from Howard was above and beyond - the kitchen messed up our order and he completely understood and corrected the mistake and amended the bill accordingly. He was lovely and friendly and exactly what you want when something goes a bit wrong. Thank you Howard (also for the secret sauce tip!) and we will definitely be back...

We were with a (relatively) large group: our granddaughter's birthday, other family members, and grandparents. And everyone ordered something different. Sure, that was quite a challenge for the wait staff, but not only did everything run smoothly, but the cheerful, smiling boys and girls certainly contributed to the perfect atmosphere. And was it good? Silly question😉 Of course it was good. That's why you go to Loetje! PS: Parking the car was a bit of a challenge, but we eventually managed it on one of the streets. PS2: Who wrote this review? It's the oldest (grandmother) in this group🤣.

I've been enjoying Loetje for a long time, but I hadn't been for a while now, and unfortunately, this time was a huge disappointment... the familiar gravy/sauce was far too greasy and barely had any flavor (it was just transparent). Hopefully, this isn't a new standard for this place. 😅

We had dinner with a large group of friends. It had been a long time since I'd been there, and I'd forgotten how beautiful the restaurant is. We sat outside by the harbor and enjoyed the sunset over the most beautiful city in the world. The service was also incredibly friendly and attentive. So, in that sense, we had a fantastic evening. But… in my memory, the food was excellent. It was a top-notch concept: nothing fancy, just the best steak in Amsterdam, in the gravy just the way you like it, and a soggy white casino sandwich to dip. And that's exactly what it was. Those days are unfortunately over. We were served a small, tough, overcooked (medium/well done) piece of meat. It was supposed to be tenderloin, but it looked more like a cheap steak. The concept of serving simple, basic but top-quality food only works with top-quality food. It was far from that. Such a shame…

We had a delicious meal. We sat on the terrace overlooking the IJ River. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was great. We had a package deal with a three-course menu of your choice and drinks. What more could you ask for?

Food was delicious, nothing wrong with it. Service was very special and disappointing... started okay but after the main course was on the table we were completely ignored... Had to wait over 45 minutes for the empty plates to be cleared and that while literally all the other tables next to us who sat later were helped faster and friendlier. (in the time that we were sitting with empty plates, the other table next to us had had dessert and could already pay.) In the end we were not asked if the main course tasted good, not asked if the dessert tasted good and when paying we were not asked if everything had been to our liking (the last moment to still be able to make up for something). If this had been asked, they could of course have gotten an honest answer and an explanation of our dissatisfaction. In retrospect, my partner and I did not really feel welcome here, unlike the families next to us who met more the standards/hetero-norms Again, the food was really good... but the service was NOT "okay"

We had dinner with a group of 7 people. When the last person had just arrived, the waiter asked if we had made a choice for dinner. Indicated that this was not the case and that our last group had just arrived. She said okay, that was fine and walked away. So she did not ask if our last group wanted something to drink. 20 to 30 minutes later she came to take our food order. We had all ordered a starter and a main course. The food tasted good. It took a long time before it was there, but that was okay, the restaurant was still quite full. We had already finished our starter after 20 minutes, the waitress was not really present. We often see her talking to colleagues and standing still. My mother went to the toilet and then walked past her. She asked if she could pass our food on to the main course and collect our plates. She said yes, but never came. The main course arrived 15/20 minutes later and our starter plates were still there and all glasses were empty. When we started eating 5 minutes later I got up and walked to the same girl who had been ‘helping’ us all evening and asked if someone could order drinks at our table. She looked at me and walked away. A colleague of hers, a young boy, spoke to me kindly and asked if he could help us. I explained that his colleagues had not really served us all evening and that we were now eating thirsty. He walked very kindly to the table and helped us quickly and asked if our food tasted good. When our drinks arrived after 10 minutes, we asked the girl who brought them (another girl) the dessert menu because it was already late and we expected that we would otherwise be sitting longer. She brought it kindly. 10 minutes later we raised our hand again to another waiter to order dessert. We got it 15 minutes later. We also sat next to a door that was open. All the wind blew in and very regularly the door blew shut with a loud bang. I saw that other tables that were also in the wind moved a table. We asked the young man who helped us with drinks in the story if he could leave the door closed. He did this kindly. Summary; Food was tasty service was bad. We barely spoke to the girl who was supposed to serve us. Long waiting time and almost no drinks because no one came. We all come to Loetje more often and have never experienced this. Disappointing.

This place is confused. The food is nice and well presented, reasonably priced. But the service will annoy you if you are in a hurry or stressed. First, only a drinks menu and a snack menu is presented (we were there for dinner). Upon asking we got menues. But they were lunch menues. Ok. A while later the dinner menues arrive. Some items are the same as in the snack menu but one or two euros more expensive. Upon asking the waiter says he never noticed but the food from the snack menu and the dinner menu is the same. He will only charge us the snack menu price. First plates arrive for one of us.. No cutlery. Ok 10 mins later we get cutlery. But the other dishes are not there yet. Waiter apologieses about the mixup, they will now prepare them as quickly as possible. Another 30 minutes later we have all our food. Bill arrives, of course it lists the more expensive dinner menu prices. Waiter apologizes but can't do anything about it. Sorry mate: it came out of you tip. So in summary: if you have plenty of time and patience and don't mind eating sequentially it then go for it. You'll be happy with the food.

Great restaurant in the Amsterdam marina. Easily accessible by ferry from Amsterdam Central Station. Large terrace, very friendly, attentive service, and good food. Very nice ambiance.
