We recently had lunch here and had a carpaccio sandwich and a steak, which was very tasty. Delicious food and friendly service. We will definitely come back.

Fine, nothing special. Portions are a bit on the small side. If you go with a group, some will already have their food while others still need to be served.

At first, we were quite skeptical due to the mixed reviews. We received a warm welcome and were allowed to choose an available table. The food was truly excellent, including the starter, main course, and dessert. The portions were large and excellent value for money. The waitstaff was also very friendly. So, we don't understand all the negative reviews because we think it's very good!

The famous Loetje, which I know from where the original originated, Amsterdam. Until I discovered there was also one here in Maastricht. I immediately made a reservation for a delicious dinner and, of course, ordered the famous steak. It was amazing and, honestly, the best steak I've ever had, paired with the bread dipped in the delicious gravy. A true pleasure in every bite. The staff was friendly, professional, and worked incredibly hard despite it being so busy. Compliments to both the service and the kitchen!

Today, December 13, 2025, we dined at Loetje Maastricht. The service was truly spectacular – it was just a shame we were the main event. Our steak went on a world tour and first met the neighbors behind us, who had just sat down. After ten minutes, the waiters discovered the disappearing act and brought the plate our way, with the reassuring message: "It hasn't been eaten yet!" Um... thanks, but we'll skip this round. Four minutes later, we received a "fresh" steak, probably just back from vacation: lukewarm, as if it was still recovering from the adventure at the neighbor's table. The bread? It lingered in the wings and never appeared on stage. In short: an evening full of surprises, but not the culinary experience we were hoping for. Loetje, next time, please, a little less comedy and a little more cuisine!

Very busy because of the Albert Heijn promotion...but after a short wait, the food was delicious. Friendly service.

Unfortunately, we had a bad experience last night. It was busy and it took an extremely long time for our food to arrive. They forgot to serve the main courses. The quality of the meat was significantly worse than before. The most disturbing thing was the foul smell in the restaurant. Our coats need to be dry-cleaned. The entire restaurant was filled with a foul stench. When we walked out after dinner, our clothes smelled like we'd just eaten gourmet food. It was absolutely disgusting; the ventilation/air conditioning system isn't up to par. We'll never return.

Super fun and atmospherically styled in the former Sfinx factory hall. Delicious food, and despite the crowds, fast service and good food. Highly recommended.

After reading the reviews, I was a little skeptical about dining here. We received a polite and friendly welcome and were shown to a table. We were quickly asked if we had chosen our drinks. We then ordered the appetizers: eel, shrimp croquettes, carpaccio, and steak tartare. These were served within a reasonable time. Everything tasted fresh and delicious! The main courses arrived next. Here too, there were no excessive wait times. All the (tenderloin) steaks were perfectly prepared and buttery tender! The side dishes were also delicious. We felt there was a clear division of labor among the staff, and we received friendly and professional service! When we paid, we were politely asked what we wanted to make. In my opinion, that's just polite manners.

The food was fantastic! It took a while before we were helped, but once we were, it was great! Just not so easy to get in with a wheelchair thanks to the doors.

Price/quality disproportionately high at €25.50 for a steak in a disgusting gravy. It really upset me. You have to order salad and fries separately. The salad was a bit wilted. They removed it from the bill, which was polite. The table for two was very cramped. The staff was friendly, though.

Friendly staff, very nicely decorated establishment, unfortunately for us, it was blue with smoke upon arrival due to the pungent smell and we left after dinner with a splitting headache. We found this Loetje to be the most atmospheric location so far. We've been to Overveen, Zeist, Gorssel, Zeist, and Gorssel several times.

We had lunch using an AH voucher. The steak was delicious. It came with delicious fries and plenty of salad. The biggest drawback was that they asked for a tip! I've never experienced this before.

The service remains poor. While it was very quiet, we were the only ones there and had to keep looking for the waitress, and this wasn't the first time.

The food was good, I couldn't fault it. The food was fresh, beautifully presented, and you get plenty of it. It might have been because it wasn't busy, so the atmosphere wasn't as pleasant. If it's quiet and peaceful, the guest will see everything. 👍 This is just a tip.

Don't go here. The staff is completely uninterested, and everything is a complete mess. It took an hour and a half for our appetizer, and then another hour for our main course. They don't ask what you'd like to drink, and if you do ask, they pretend they don't hear or see you. Highly recommended against this; the food is cold, and the meat is tough. It's also way too expensive for what you get.

We're fans of the Loetje chain and have visited several restaurants several times. Unfortunately, we've never been served so assertively and artificially friendly. In a nearly empty restaurant at lunchtime, we were seated at a table we didn't like. When we asked why, we were given a brief, succinct reply that it was just the way it was. Guests after us were assigned their seats. Loetje again, but not in Maastricht.

We're fans of Loetje's tenderloin, and this time it didn't disappoint either! 😍 The only downside, which has already been mentioned in several reviews, is the staff's slow pace. We had to wave frequently to get the waiters' attention. We also had to wait a really long time with empty glasses for a second round. So we just paid and left.

What a disgrace at Loetje Maastricht! The service is absolutely terrible: poor service, poor communication, and absolutely no professionalism. A bottle of water, and later even a glass, was thrown over us without a single apology. Orders are taken and delivered incorrectly, and the food doesn't arrive as requested – my tuna was cooked through when it should have been medium rare. The worst part: there's no sense of hospitality or responsibility whatsoever. Everything is dismissed with a smug smile or ignored. Only the floor manager tried his best, but the rest of the staff has absolutely no understanding of customer service. For a restaurant called Loetje, this is an absolute disgrace. I will never return.

Last week I ate at Loetje in Maastricht. I'd never been there before and was really looking forward to it, based on friends' experiences at other Loetje locations. Our steak wasn't bad at all. The service is generally friendly. You have to love the location: an old Sphinx factory building, nicely decorated, but you're practically sitting on/at your neighbors' tables. The tables were so close together that you couldn't really have a private conversation; the neighbors could hear every word. We also had to wait a long time for the menu, for a first drink, and for the main course. There was a couple sitting next to us, and after fifteen minutes, there was still no service to ask if they wanted a drink or to give them the menu. And it wasn't that busy on a weekday evening. I would have left long ago... The price/quality ratio is out of whack. You pay a lot for a (basically good) steak. But all the side dishes, plus the prices of the drinks, make the overall experience considerably more expensive than expected. What I find most regrettable is that my experience is already mentioned several times in other reviews, without any visible improvement. Long wait times, mediocre service, and a poor price-quality ratio. The responses repeatedly promise that they "understand" that things need to be improved and "something is being done about it," but based on my own experience, there's actually no improvement. "We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration"... This seems more like a standard response than something actually being acted upon. It's a shame that so little is learned from recurring criticism.

The food was good; the steak was tender, and the fries were a good portion. The service was inconsistent, sometimes quick and friendly, other times less welcoming. The tables for two people are very close together, and if you want to sit at a larger table, the waitstaff won't allow it (even though half the restaurant is empty), while another hostess allowed it. We found this rather unusual and didn't feel very welcoming. The food and the location are absolutely fine, but we found the service inconsistent.

The Netherlands certainly knows how to connect generations. This restaurant is a sophisticated and well-equipped venue for all ages, young and old. Youngsters can play at the numerous billiard tables in the basement, while drinks and food are the focus upstairs.

We had a reservation for 6:30 PM. We ordered our main course along with our appetizer. The appetizer arrived reasonably on time. The main course took an absurdly long time. The meat was also overcooked, by the way. At the end, we asked for the bill. When he announced the amount, we told him we'd like to pay by card. The waiter slowly pulled the card machine back toward him and said to us, "Ohhh, don't you want to leave a tip?" He said it in such a way that it sounded like he found it strange and as if we were doing something very criminal... very rude and very unprofessional. If we had eaten for 500 euros, well, that was less than 100 euros. He then defended himself with the following words: "Yes, the Dutch are generally known for being reluctant to tip." We would have been happy to tip if we had received good service AND if we could do so ourselves instead of being urged to do so. And we told him so. Not coming back here.

What a disgrace. Dinner for two. We had made a reservation but were given a very small table between two others. After 30 (!!) minutes, the fries and white bread arrived. However, the steak didn't arrive until another 15 minutes later... by then, the fries were cold and the bread was stale. After I cut open my steak, it was just as tough and overcooked as the outside. It took me another 10 minutes to contact the waiter. He heard my complaint but didn't understand what to do. When I suggested medium rare, he didn't take the plate away. Almost 30 (!!!!!) minutes later, I received a new one. My companions had already finished their meal, leaving me with cold fries and stale bread. The waiter finally asked if everything was to our liking. Only when we told him we weren't happy did we receive an apology. A very disappointing experience for a considerable amount of money.

Very tasty, the steak was perfect! The service and kitchen staff were also very enthusiastic.

Today we visited this place by chance, everything was wonderful and very tasty! We took all the dishes recommended by the waiter (beef tenderloin in garlic sauce, beef liver with fried onions and bacon, plus gorgeous sweet potato fries). We also took cheesecake for dessert and it also turned out to be simply incredible!!! I recommend it to everyone!

We dined with seven people. We were greeted warmly outside, but the service was anything but welcoming. The steak was of mediocre quality, partly overcooked. No vegetables were served with it, the fries were served incorrectly and only brought back after insisting. Questions about the food were met with eye-rolls. The cooks frequently smoked outside. Inside, it was uninviting, but the restrooms were more inviting than the restaurant itself. For this price, you'd expect much more.

The staff treated us very politely. My friend's steak was cooked perfectly; he even ate all the sauce. Compliments for the three-chocolate dessert.

Never got to eat. Booked a table for 8.30 they don’t say online they throw you out at 9.30 from the building. How can you sell a food experience when you want to take time to savour the service, atmosphere, food and wine but you also want people to finish in an hour? From sitting down? It’s not possible and it’s not fast food you are selling and it’s definitely not fast food prices! Ridiculous. Even a two course choice with wine we wouldn’t be able to be finished answer relaxed in an hour.

The food was good and tasty. The service was okay. The staff didn't seem particularly enthusiastic or interested in her work. The tables outside were spacious, but inside it was very cramped and close together. You could barely stand between them. I think it's difficult for staff to serve well inside during busy times.

The food at Loetje is quite good, though the prices are a bit high, and the staff is friendly. I think a lot of young people go to Loetje, at least that was the case the evening we dined there. I thought the table was a bit small for five people. The steaks were delicious, but it was a shame there was so much sauce on them. All in all, I would definitely eat at Loetje again with a few adjustments to my main course.

We arrived at 17:15 without a reservation; the lady at the entrance was difficult, long story, eventually we got a table. The steak is good, the sauces too, but the prices are of course high for the concept that is supposed to be no-nonsense. The service was friendly, but we only give two stars for the service because welcoming your guests should come first, and the lady at the door had no idea about hospitality.

The first thing we noticed when we were allowed to sit down was that the tables were too close together, you could hardly get between them. Besides the fact that you couldn't talk freely yourself, you could still enjoy the people next to you. You can have a bite to eat. The food itself wasn't that special and certainly not for that price. Loetje in general has good stories but this location doesn't belong there. This is more of a great lunchroom than a good dinner restaurant. The staff was friendly and had helped us so nothing wrong with that.

Delicious steaks! Service was grumpy

The coffee took a long time, the sandwiches even longer. My focaccia was pale, limp, and hard. They had forgotten to grill it or something. Didn't feel like waiting any longer so I continued eating. My table companion's lunch was warm and we wanted to be able to eat together. No further attention was paid to our reaction. The service didn't care anyway.

Food below average and way too expensive

Yesterday May 16th we had a delicious steak. I have never had such a delicious steak. The tables and chairs were close together. But despite this no other comments. Next time I will eat at Loetje again.

At the door one of the waiters asks if you have a reservation and then you can choose a table. After sitting for 10 minutes, no one even comes to ask if you can drink or eat something!!!!

We came to eat at a quiet time, we waited 40 minutes for a stake tartare, And 45 minutes on my steak, I had ordered everything when I sat down at the table. The tartare was OK and my steak was not anything special. Received fries as compensation for a long wait. P.s. they also forgot bread with the steak, but asking for it would probably mean waiting another 30 minutes, so never mind. I have been to several locations in the Amsterdam area and they fill up the tent faster than Maastricht with 5 tables occupied.

Top service, layout could have been better. In terms of height, a void may fit in to accommodate the high visitor numbers. The toilet visit also appears to be in an unfinished part of the building. It is also noticeable that quality is certainly a priority for this company.

The salad with smoked salmon was really below par. It was a large plate packed with lettuce, generously smoked salmon, a red onion in slices, 2 tomatoes and a spoonful of cucumber cubes with dill dressing and 5 croutons. And that for 23 (!!!) euros. No bread was served with it. There are plenty of places where you can get a well-filled salmon salad for 8 euros less, with bread and butter. Shame!

Portion too small and quite expensive! Correct meal

I had made a reservation at Loetje Maastricht with high expectations, but unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. I had reserved well in advance, but once I arrived I was given a small mini table in the middle of two other tables. And not just any tables – the distances between the tables were less than 5 cm. It felt like you were sitting at a table with random people, and that for the price you pay here. I was really surprised and disappointed. You expect a little more space for the amount of money you put down. I really couldn't sit properly without hitting the people next to me, and this was just not acceptable. I ended up leaving and eating somewhere else. It's really rude to ask for so much money and not even offer the space to sit quietly and comfortably. Certainly not for the kind of experience you expect at a restaurant like Loetje. All in all it was a very disappointing experience, and I wouldn't return again anytime soon.

I liked my first Loetje experience. Wash good garlic steak with fried onions. Despite the industrial building, the restaurant had a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Because we were early, it wasn't busy yet. Attention and service were good, not too little, not too much. Price/quality ratio was that we had a pleasant meal with 1 drink each for 35 euros per person... And that seems to be a normal price for a meal in a restaurant nowadays, although I continue to refuse to consider that normal. All in all a good experience, 1 star less for atmosphere because the restaurant was a bit too empty for my taste at the beginning, but that was more due to our arrival time, as our dinner progressed the restaurant became fuller.

The hot side of the kitchen was not working. Very annoying but it can happen. We simply choose an alternative that is possible. Unfortunately that was not possible either. No stock... It can happen but why do you stay open when everything is so bad? It got even worse when I thought it was crazy that after wasting 45 minutes I asked for the bill and thought compensation was appropriate. While we were talking about that, the forgotten drink (that can also happen) was put on the table next to the bill. Eventually, after a lot of insistence, compensation was given by the manager (?). While that was being discussed, the waiter came to tell us that we should just contact the head office. A serious case of poor communication in a very unpleasant situation for both Loetje and us. Too bad, this could have been handled differently. Missed opportunity!

Looking forward to the food at Loetje, but after bringing the wine and a liter of sparkling water, we are told that the kitchen is down and that hot food is not possible. That is a bummer, but it can happen. When paying for the drinks, we ask for compensation (where do you leave a liter of sparkling water??), but unfortunately, we get a 'no'. Can we pay 18 euros... Last time Loetje Maastricht!

Loetje in Maastricht. Nothing is as Amsterdam as Loetje and they should have kept it that way. The original establishment on the Johannes Vermeerstraat adds something to the taste experience and the overall customer experience. Everything here exudes the overly luxurious design of a food joint. We had planned to eat calf's liver for a while. Something that is not common, but 'fortunately'. at Loetje. Previous experiences with delivery in Amsterdam gave me hope in any case. In a virtually deserted, overly large design setup, we found our liver on a heaped plate hidden under a mountain of onions and streaks of bacon. The whole thing swam in a far too abundant sea of ​​gravy, fat and everything that came with it from a pan. The liver itself was reasonably tasty but there were just chunks of fat in it, how so? Our comments about the excess of everything that seemed unhealthy and liquid were countered with the remark that you did not come to Loetje to eat healthy and certainly should not do that every day. We received the reaction with a laugh. In addition to the main course, we still had to pay quite a bit for a plate of fries as a side dish. The mayonnaise was expertly hidden under the fries, very special. In short, a bad experience and after a night full of unrest between esophagus and drain I have decided to share my story and experience. Not positive, except for the fact that we were served kindly and neatly, but those ladies can certainly do that in a business where you do not risk your life(s).

Nice atmosphere, only the last 2 times the food was horrible, the food was undercooked, it was sent back to the kitchen. Came back still undercooked. Ate a bite, got up and asked for the receipt. Everything was paid for neatly (46.95). The waitress sees a full plate of steak and a bowl full of fries, and then stupidly asks if she can keep the change. After refusing this, the lady did not feel any better about it. Don't come here anymore, unfortunately.

It was really great again at Loetje, the classic as well as the chocolate trio afterwards, delicious!

Far too little space between the tables. Too expensive for what you get. Homemade lemonade for almost €5 was a large glass of water with ice, a hint of syrup and a lime slice 🥺. The salad nicoise was disappointing, should not have that name. The only positive were the shrimp croquettes. Those were delicious. Unfortunately, if you are not a fan of Loetje, there are countless better opportunities in Maastricht.

Delicious food in a great location.

First time eating in this unpleasant factory hall. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant and we still had to wait a long time. I also don't like not being addressed in Dutch in the Netherlands. If you make some effort, that is worth a lot to me, but unfortunately. The meat was delicious, but I had a lot of trouble with the gravy, my stomach could not tolerate it.

Delay and lack of attention from the attendants!!!

Terrible service. The waiters were not nice. We asked them multiple times for the same thing they would keep forgetting to bring. Already took so long to get us seated down and it was empty. It’s a shame that the place is so pretty but the service so terrible. They pretend they don’t listen to you when you call them over too. Simply rude and ruined the experience. Don’t bother coming here.

Specially reserved at Loetje for after the Hyrox in Maastricht. I've been looking forward to it for a long time with my friends. When we came in there was no one to help us. I walked to the bar to ask where the toilet was and if we could sit at the table, but an incredibly grumpy international lady told me, almost shouting, that I had to continue walking around the corner. Then put at a dirty table (by the way, just reserved with confirmation) and spent 20 (!) minutes trying to get her attention for a menu or at least a drink. But nothing helped. No drink, no food, lunch and atmosphere ruined. We left, and you didn't care at all. How on earth is this possible nowadays? I'm really disappointed about this. I was so looking forward to it, but I also have my limits. My worst experience in a restaurant ever. How difficult is it to welcome someone, have a table ready and immediately ask someone what they want to drink? I am really perplexed by this amateurish approach. Very unfortunate. The food is usually delicious at Loetje, which is why we had been looking forward to this for a long time.

We walked in here by chance. Was very busy, no tables available. We were given the options of waiting 1 hour at the bar until a table might become available or coming back 2 hours later and having a reserved table. Chose to wait at the bar. Then a small minus point that staff is not used to waiting at the bar. We have difficulty getting service at the bar... It's a lost turnover after all. Calling is handled politely and you get what you order. Then you are a bit forgotten once you have a table. I think the staff lost a bit of overview due to being busy. Otherwise nice service. We also had a good meal as we are used to at Loetje.

Visited the one in Maastricht but did not really meet the expectation. Service was slow even though the restaurant was not full. The food I believe can be better and more tasteful than what we got. My beef liver menu looked a bit burned. And the french fries were cold when it was served. The chicken sate that we ordered also bit burned in one side.

Ate at Loetje Maastricht for the first time. It was quite chilly inside and when the front door was opened there was a cold draft through the building. Ordering took quite a while, it was not busy. Ordered starter, main course and dessert. The salmon with wasabi starter was tasty and sufficient. The steak with garlic sauce was ordered medium but was not cooked properly. The center was raw. It also took too long for the dish to be served, so the meat was already lukewarm. Shame. The gravy was nothing special and also lukewarm. Ordered bavarois for dessert. After waiting for a long time we were told that the bavarois had run out. Then ordered a cheese board. After another long wait we were told again that the cheese board was also gone! Then ordered another dish that was in stock. All in all, Loetje in Maastricht was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. Especially when I had paid the bill of €210 for 3 people. Ridiculously expensive, for that money I can eat better at other restaurants.

The toilets were defective, which took some work. We were also quite busy and in the cold, close to the door, which was not closed properly by everyone when entering or leaving. Nevertheless, we had a delicious and enjoyable meal.

Unfortunately, after my experiences in Rotterdam, Maastricht was a big disappointment. Especially the gentleman who served was not friendly at all...we did not feel welcome. Definitely not repeatable for me.

Went here on vacation, and it was pretty good. Best friend's niece said it was the best steak she ever had, so of course we had to try it. The ambiance is beautiful, and I love that they do not rush you in Europe to eat. You can really enjoy the meal and company. The steak and fries were good. I ordered medium garlic, and my bestie ordered the medium Bali (spicy). The steak was cooked perfectly. Mine was good, but the spicy sauce on the Bali was super yummy. I would order it over the garlic when we return. We also ordered the small plate appetizer, which came with chicken fingers and fried cheese. The fried cheese came with a dijon mustard type dipping sauce, which was yummy. Although not the best steak I've ever had, it was still good and worth the visit.

What a chaotic experience this was. When we entered, we waited for five minutes by the door. Not a single employee seemed to be the host(ess) and came to greet and/or seat us, even though there was 3+ groups waiting. Eventually one of us had to flag down a waiter who seated us out of pure obligation. We got seated and ordered drinks, then starters, then were told that the chicken satay we wanted had run out. We picked new mains and were told that 4/8 main dishes were no longer available. At 7pm… We picked new food and 45 minutes passed and we still hadn’t even received our drinks yet. Multiple tables around us got seated later and finished their starters before we even had our drinks. We had to flag down the manager, who was very kind to us, who made sure we got our drinks and food quickly afterwards. The food itself was quite bland in taste and definitely not worth the money it cost. All personnel was bland too, except for that manager and one blonde waitress who was very kind and actually seemed to know something about customer service. I work in customer service myself and it is not to act like a robot, but that seems to be a city-centric problem here in Maastricht. Would definitely not recommend going to Loetje Maastricht.

We had dinner here for the second time yesterday, the first time was great, but we were there around 5:30 PM and it was not busy. Made a reservation now at 7 p.m. and it was very busy, we waited an hour for the food and it was also lukewarm and incomplete. Shame.

The Loetje burger was really disappointing. Poorly cooked meat and far too moist. 21 euros for just a burger without fries or potatoes and without garnish...

Made a reservation for 8 o'clock but arrived a little early and we were allowed to take a seat at the bar. With almost half of the tables still available, the waiter made us wait almost half an hour to be seated, very strange that this had to be done this way. The food and the service, which is largely in English, which is almost unthinkable nowadays, was very friendly and the food was very fast and very tasty, but the service could have been better.
