We only had drinks. The service was very friendly and attentive. The drinks were okay. The place seemed a bit dated.

Place to have a drink and/or something to eat along the Meuse. Quite a nice location. Not very special, reasonable prices.

It certainly wasn't the atmosphere or the view that was the problem. Unfortunately, we left after waiting for 25 minutes. The restaurant wasn't completely full, but the staff paid no attention to us (nor to 3 other tables). The slogan reads: Taste with a view... the view was present. We have no idea about the taste, and the service was definitely absent today.

The food (mixed salad with goat cheese, walnuts, and honey-mustard dressing) was good, but the service is the reason I won't be eating there again. First, I had to wait 20 minutes for the waiter, even though barely half the tables were occupied. No greeting, no smile, no apology for the long wait—I should have just gotten up and left, but I was hungry. The two other people who brought me my drink and salad also seemed completely unconcerned about making a friendly impression. When I paid, I made one last attempt to exchange a few kind words with the waiter. It was no use. He didn't even say goodbye, let alone wish me a good evening.

The plan was for us to have a nice family meal here. We started with a bread board, which was served with our drinks. Shortly after, our order for the main course was already taken. While the bread was still on the table, the main courses were served just 5 minutes later. We finished the bread first, and the final conclusion was that the main course (ribs) was completely cold, so they weren't served properly hot to begin with. My girlfriend had a burger and didn't find this yellow chicken burger special. We were hoping for a lovely evening out, but we would have been better off getting fries from the snack bar. The service could be more responsive to customers and improve internal communication so that we could have experienced a more relaxed atmosphere. The terrace was nice, though.

I wasn't a customer, but I took the liberty of asking if I could use the restroom; I would even pay. The waiter I asked responded in an outrageous tone: "No, you're not a customer here." Absolutely not. With a cheeky grin. Such behavior is appalling. There's nothing more to say about this place.

We were on a company outing with eight people and had made a reservation in advance. The reservation went smoothly, as did the first drinks, which arrived quickly. Unfortunately, that was where all the positive experiences ended. When taking our order, we asked if fries were included with any of the dishes. If not, we wanted to order two extra portions of fries. The waitress said she would check, but then did not return. When we spoke to her again, she said the fries would be added. Only when we asked if the order had actually been passed on did she suddenly seem to realize that the other four people at the table hadn't been able to place an order at all yet. Then the long wait began. After about an hour, we still hadn't received any food. We asked several times where our order was, and each time we received the same answer: “Another five minutes.” That simply turned out not to be true. Eventually, two dishes arrived first, followed much later by a number of others, but the meals were served completely spread out. When the first people had long since finished their food, others were still waiting. In the end, one colleague didn't receive her food at all. In addition, the extra fries we had ordered were missing. It was only when a German-speaking employee went over our order with us that it turned out not even everything had been recorded correctly. The result was that we sat in the restaurant for well over two and a half hours, even though we actually wanted to have a pleasant lunch together. Instead, everyone was eating at different times or not at all. That made the entire afternoon incredibly unpleasant. When settling the bill, we were initially offered a 15% discount. We pointed out that we were already entitled to a 10% discount through the boat tour anyway, so that 15% hardly felt like appropriate compensation to us. Eventually, we received a 25% discount, but that did not change the experience. What we found worst of all was that we were told multiple times that the food would arrive “in five minutes,” while the order had apparently not even been fully passed on. That does not feel like a mistake, but rather like deliberately stringing guests along. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was also disappointing and absolutely could not make up for the poor service. In short: a particularly disappointing and chaotic restaurant visit. For a group wanting to enjoy a pleasant lunch together, this was a complete failure. We will certainly not be returning here and unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant.

We had to wait 40 min after ordering drinks before we waved someone down to take our dinner order. No checkups during dinner if everything was OK or if we needed more to drink. My food was so bland, it was not worth the price. Everything else tasted fine.

Asked to put my bike on the charger. It was a lot of hassle and the service was unfriendly. Then we sat on the terrace, weren't helped, and just left after fifteen minutes. Very unfriendly staff.

During our weekend in Maastricht, we met nothing but nice people. The only exception to this is the waiter at Riverside Lounge. We wanted to take a seat at an empty table when, without looking at us, he snapped at us in passing that they only work with reservations. That is good to know; I will certainly never make a reservation here. 👍🏻

The service was poor and we were treated racially. After our journey from Amsterdam, we were exhausted with the children and asked for water, cola, and wine. We had to wait more than fifteen minutes, while everyone around us and those who arrived after us were served. We really felt that they were racist.

Restaurant next to the river. We went here for lunch and were seated on the riverside of the restaurant ( recommended). Service was extremely friendly and helpful. The view is nice and really adds to the atmosphere. At the time we visited only a few tables were occupied so relatively quiet. Took a freshly squeezed orange juice and the sunny side up ( eggs). Very nice with fresh bread underneath. For a nice easy lunch this is recommended.

I wanted to have a drink and a snack here. There were plenty of seats on the terrace, so I politely asked the older gentleman washing the glasses if we should wait here. His response was downright rude. If you don't feel like working, don't let the guests know. Limburg hospitality was and still is completely absent from this employee's experience.

Simply awful. Bad service, bad drinks, bad food, and the wait was way too long. With every customer that came in, we heard the owner say, "There's only two of us today." He was standing there against his will. He turned away many customers. This place is a potential gold mine, but not like this.

Beautiful location with a great atmosphere. The Riverside Lounge in Maastricht is in a lovely spot and very inviting. The burger was good and solid, and the salmon with avocado was especially delicious. Overall, a pleasant visit – we'd gladly come again.

This is the second year we have stopped at this café-restaurant. The place is very modern, clean, and located along the river. The waitress, who is a bit older, is very professional. Prices are reasonable. I highly recommend it.

Hostess was very rude and full of attitude. No freedom of choice where you want to sit even though the place was empty and all tables are the same size. Got up and walked out without ordering and sadly would not return or recommend.

I went there in summer and I absolutely loved it! The seating area was awesome, with a view of the river. And the service was really good(very friendly staff). The food was also delicious. I recommend the scampi pasta(it’s insane).

Unfortunately, it wasn't a good experience. We didn't receive a warm welcome upon arrival. The host was full of food and apologized for the wait. They hadn't seen our reservation, so they couldn't accommodate us, even though only three tables were occupied. We had to check with the kitchen to see if they were still open. We were told we could only be seated for a main course. It was Friday evening at 7:00 PM.

Don't be misled by the negative reviews, because we received a very warm welcome. We were a group of 66 people and had soup and bread for lunch. Admittedly, it could have used a bit more bread. Then, in the evening, our 66 guests were presented with a delicious menu. It would be difficult to please all 66 people, but we were quickly provided with drinks and (delicious) food, which isn't easy with a large group. The staff was very friendly: I think that if you are friendly yourself, it reflects on the staff.

What terribly arrogant staff. For our first drink, we had to go up ourselves to order because no one came to us. For our second drink, we were then snapped at by the older woman with the gray bob. She thought it would have been "courteous" if we had gone back up ourselves. Sorry? Apparently, going down four steps is too much trouble? We were just relaxing in the sun on the fatboys, but instead of service, all we got was grumpiness and arrogance. And then when we wanted to pay, we were sent from pillar to post. It's a beautiful location, but the staff completely ruins the whole atmosphere.

We tried the Riverside Lounge in Maastricht and were well received by the waiter. A slight initial drawback: the menu placed on the table wasn't the correct one, forcing us to change our choice of dishes. The wait was then quite long, even though the restaurant wasn't particularly full. The plates were nicely presented, but the taste wasn't really there, with rather bland flavors overall. We therefore found the value for money a bit high. On the other hand, the setting is modern and pleasant, and the location on the banks of the Meuse remains a real plus.

We wanted to have a drink before boarding a boat tour. We asked several times for someone to take our order, but they were all too busy chatting or indicated they wouldn't take our order. The person who was supposed to take our order walked right past us. A group of 18 people is probably too much to ask. Such a shame.

We wanted to have a nice meal for our wedding anniversary yesterday and were lured by the name and the location on the Maas, which turned into one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. At around 6 p.m. there was hardly anyone going on. On second glance, the outdoor terrace was very unloved and shabby. When the starter was delivered, we had to ask for cutlery and napkins, but there were only packaged wet wipes. Then nothing happened for two hours - there were no customers inside and maybe eight people outside. We had to ask for the old things to be cleared away with the second bottle of water. Around 8 p.m. we were fed up and wanted them to keep the bill and the main course. Somewhat surprised, she walked back and came straight back with the food. One look was enough; the food was cold and inedible, and the grilled chicken looked disgusting and not grilled. We went to pay, but they insisted we pay for the salad and accepted my cold food, so they left. In summary: clueless service, unacceptable food, and disastrous organization. What a pity for a special evening 😥

Yes, I can recommend it. Every time we're in Maastricht, we end up there. So far, we've never been disappointed. The food, drinks, staff, and even the location are top-notch.

Had to wait a long time for staff who only spoke English. When paying, everything was rather abrupt. Next time I'll look for something else in Maastricht.

We recently moved to Germany from the Dominican Republic and discovered this wonderful restaurant on a day trip to the Netherlands. We received a very warm welcome as soon as we entered – especially from the waitress Yosune. She was incredibly personable, competent, and friendly. You could immediately tell that she is passionate about her job. We immediately felt at home because Yosune not only served us professionally, but also spoke to us sensitively and welcomed us. Such a positive attitude and warmth are rare – she truly made our visit special. Thanks to her, the atmosphere was cheerful and relaxed, and we had a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back – and wholeheartedly give her five stars!

Food was ok, nothing special but the staff were just rude, didn’t want to serve, couldn’t be bothered with basic manners like hello etc and couldn’t produce a bill just a total on the payment machine which was odd in itself…!

Everything is great, nothing wrong with it, friendly staff, and especially the slightly older lady Wilma is a super sweet woman and does her job well. There were 14 of us, and everyone had a great time! Friendly and welcoming staff.

Far too few staff for a Sunday. They didn't have any drinks, and if I ordered something else, it was forgotten. Things can get complicated when it's busy, but with too few staff, it's completely impossible. Tables weren't cleared, but the staff were friendly.

It's crazy to make people wait an hour for a mojito that tastes like water, and on top of that, a bar with no atmosphere. Basically, I wasted an hour of my life and arrived late at the restaurant. Run far away!

A disappointing experience at a beautiful location in Maastricht After a previous positive experience in the morning with coffee, pie and drinks – also with a group of 25 people – we decided to visit this restaurant again later that day. Unfortunately, this was a big disappointment. First of all, the drinks took an incredibly long time to arrive. With a group of this size, and with reservations made well in advance, discussed and the menu passed on, you expect some organization, but that was completely lacking. Tables were not cleared in time, which quickly made it look messy. What was particularly offensive was the way the drinks were served: they were casually placed on the corner of the table, accompanied by the comment “can you pass it on yourselves?” – with a group of 25 people, that is downright unprofessional. As if that wasn’t enough, even when explicitly asked “those two drinks have to go there”, this instruction was completely ignored. The lady in question simply turned around and walked away. What was most offensive was the lack of hospitality. You would expect a group of 25 people, who had already spent a considerable amount of money earlier in the day, to be treated with a little more enthusiasm and some respect. Except for two young ladies, who were customer-friendly and attentive, the staff radiated little to no enthusiasm or hospitality. No smile, no attention - it felt like we were a burden. With years of experience in the hospitality industry myself, I can say with certainty: this team is simply not suited for this. And that in such a top location in a beautiful city like Maastricht... This business is unfortunately not a calling card for the city and certainly not a hotspot as stated on their own website In short: this was once, but never again.

We decided to do this ourselves. And that was a good thing because the main course was being served. The food was excellent by the way. Unfortunately it is only the chef who does his job properly here. The service is really incompetent and unfit for this job! Still too stupid to dance for the devil... Worthless!! We will not be coming back here either!

Never again this terrace. The service was downright bad. Upon arrival we were cut off in an unfriendly manner by a lady with gray, short hair. It then took over half an hour before someone took our order. The drinks didn't arrive for another thirty minutes, and the cappuccino was also cold. We didn't get our nachos until after an hour. When we wanted to pay, we had to wait a long time again. We didn't even dare to speak to the lady anymore because she treats customers so disrespectfully. She is absolutely not suitable for this job. So not a second time for us!

Despite the beautiful location on the water, our visit to Riverside Lounge in Maastricht was unfortunately anything but successful. I have never left my plate until my visit here – that says it all. I ordered a pasta with eggplant, cherry tomatoes, garlic and ricotta. What I was served (see photo) was a plate of pasta with (tasteless) tomato sauce, without a single visible piece of eggplant. When I expressed my doubts about whether I had received the right pasta, I was assured that the eggplant was 'in the sauce', but there was really no sign of that - no taste, no texture, nothing at all. Nothing further was done with my feedback. The most disappointing thing? That we were not even asked at checkout whether everything was to our liking or whether it had tasted good. As if no one cared that the plate returned to the kitchen untouched. A missed opportunity, because the location is beautiful. But we won't come back here for the food.

Nicely decorated restaurant,bar.But it's not really for me ,to expensive and the quality of the crispy chicken hamburger was ridiculously small piece of chicken with a lot of onions.... I specifically asked without onions! Then the creamy scampi spaghetti, undercooked harder then aldente. The pommes fries was okey. And that was it.

Menu and drinks came promptly, but had to wait a while for our server to return for our food order. The service was slow, especially since we were 1 of 3 tables eating. Our waiter wasn’t quite rude, but curt. The food was delicious! We had the bruschetta and the nachos. Everything was perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. The interior is beautiful and modern. Very clean. If we are ever in the area again, we would stop by for a quick drink and bite!

In a Maastricht really full of tourists we took refuge in this place located on the banks of the river. The inviting menu, however, is only written in Dutch so it is a little difficult to understand. Waiters really under stress given the amount of work. We ordered a chicken burger, unfortunately there was little chicken left because it was overcooked to the point of being edible. The rest of the food we ordered was good but we were very hungry..... fair bill. I believe that with a little less stress the place could be worth an extra star.
