We had a delicious fried egg sandwich with bacon on brown bread, truly superb. Very friendly service and a beautiful location so close to the Sint Servaas Bridge.

I ate here again a while ago. I had a schnitzel that was good, but the fries were very greasy. For dessert, I had apple strudel that was lukewarm with cold chunks in it, and the vanilla sauce was cold. The quality used to be much better.

I was ignored. After a 30-minute wait and only three customers on the terrace, I politely addressed the waitress. She received a rude reply with a "Tot ziens" and a laugh.

With all due respect...this is the best salad I've ever had in a restaurant! It's also a feast for the eyes; I was flabbergasted when the waiter brought my plate. I'd never seen anything like it. Hats off!!!

't Piepenhoes is a small restaurant with a lovely view of the bridge. We had a slice of pie, which was certainly good, but at around €6.50 each, we thought it was a bit pricey. The restaurant itself is cozy, but otherwise nothing special. It's a nice place to sit and enjoy a tasty treat, but for the price, we might have expected a little more.

Had the apricot pie and it was quite tasty. The service was good and the view on the terrace was nice. The only downside was they only had 2 of the pies of Macy that were on the menu.

Had an outdoor seat with a group of 5, practically by the Maas. Ordered some vlaai (kersenschuim) and coffee, both of which were great. The iced coffee was also very nice. No complaints.

Unfortunately, I've never experienced such rude service in such a beautiful place. I would never recommend going. The red-haired waitress was extremely rude to us. We only asked two questions, but because of her rudeness, we left without ordering. Also, the menus aren't in English; they're only in Dutch. She acted as if we were required to know Dutch.

We ordered two iced coffees, which had no flavor at all, unlike the first one. We called the owner, who nonchalantly said, "We don't have any more." It was unprofessional! We paid promptly and left the grounds. We haven't had a chance to try the truly delicious iced coffee again yet, but we definitely will. It was resolved nicely. 👍

Seating right on the Meuse - very nice!

Nice place to have a drink, with a great location on the water in Maastricht. Ideal to sit down and enjoy the view. Too bad the iced coffee was already sold out, and that in the morning. But the staff made up for that, very friendly and a nice chat.

Food was great but they overcharge me on tea, the "Luxe Ontbijt" (Deluxe Breakfast) you can choose between coffee and tea for 17.25 but if u choose tea it cost 18.55 without them telling you because the tea is "more expensive". Deceptive practice. This is a penny scam but a scam nonetheless. Tourist beware. EDIT: Owner states he doesn't understand why I'm upset and he's explaining me the prices for different types of tea when it's really simple: the lux ontbijt states one single price: 17.25, that is the only thing I ordered, when the waiter asked if I wanted tea or coffee, I said tea. He asked which tea, I said mint. At no point did someone explain to me that the tea is 1.30 euro more. At no point was I informed this is a 'premium fresh tea'. If I come and I order something off your menu and it says 17.25 then it should cost me 17.25, not magically 18.55 because you upgraded my normal tea to 'premium' tea without my knowledge. Your menu doesn't show within the Lux Ontbijt that there are different prices. It only says 17.25, coffee or tea. Check your receipts!

We sat here on the terrace and enjoyed a latte and a piece of delicious pie. It all looked cozy, both outside and inside. The pie was very tasty, really worth it. The service was also friendly.

Relax at Piepenhoes! Was quite busy, but service was good nonetheless. Chicken patty and onion soup are both recommended. Many places in the sun, but you can also sit in the shade against the building. Enjoy!

Het terras ligt geweldig aan de Maas. Een zeer goede bediening, het eten is lekker en de prijzen zijn redelijk. Probeer ook het gebak eens. Is echt speciaal. Het zitten hier is fijner dan op het overvolle Vrijthof waar de prijzen de pan uitvliegen en je hutje op mutje zit. Het Piepenhoes is een echte aanrader. Danyo en zijn broer hebben het goed in handen. Zijn jong en ondernemend. Werken hard. Beslist eens heen gaan!!!!

Very cozy interior, featuring exterior seating that’s a great view of foot traffic. Servers were attentive and supportive in explaining the menu in English, of which that menu is very diverse. We unfortunately didn’t get to try any of their pies as they sold out, but I mean come on, look at those beauties. That salads are MASSIVE and BEAUTIFUL; worth the price.

Service was not nice and we were almost the only ones inside, really not good

Nice yet always crowded. It’s not easy to serve indoor+outdoor+next to street yet still some room dor improvement. Service is kind, warm and friendly. I felt sorry for them since they have to chew their lunch while they are serving at the same time.

We waited more than half an hour for 3 snacks (ham cheese sandwich, meat croquette and cheese croquette). There was no butter with the bread. No dressing was served on the lettuce. Strangely enough, we did receive a jar of garlic butter which did not suit the snack. A jar of mayo for the salad was charged. The door of the bistro was open, causing a constant draft. The service was slow. The staff member could not be contacted to ask a question after trying to speak politely several times. The pie was taken out of the refrigerator without even cleaning hands before or after serving. When we wanted to pay, we were still waiting for more than fifteen minutes. Only when I said that we really had to leave was it noticed and taken care of. Unfortunately, this was not what we expected and after paying I was also called “Antisocial” because I loudly mentioned the poor service. In short, a disappointment.

Yesterday, April 6, I ate the Piepenhoes plank on the terrace at the Maas. That's just a meal for 2 people and for a price that you can't say anything about. Highly recommended and very friendly service.

A permanent address for a good piece of pie! You look out over a wonderfully lively spot, always something to see. Fast service, the last time (December 2024) the waiter took the time for a nice chat despite the business being very busy. We'll be back!

Wij bezochten vanmiddag deze zaak. Wij kozen een zeepannetje als lunch. Op de kaart stond vermeld dat ‘dagverse vis’ bevatte. Toen ons vispannetje geserveerd werd, was het het helemaal niet warm. We vroegen om het terug te warmen en dat was geen enkel probleem. De ober wilde de frietjes laten staan(niet echt verstandig) Toen hebben wij gevraagd om die zeker ook mee te nemen. Enkele minuten later bracht de ober ons gerecht terug. Toen wij het vispannetje aten, zagen we alleen maar kleine reststukjes vis (uit een zak uit de diepvries). Verder lagen er nog wat kleine mosseltjes en enkele gekookte scampi’s in ons bord. De saus was vrij vlak van smaak en erg waterig. Toen de ober de borden kwam ophalen, hebben wij rustig onze feedback gegeven. Hij zou het even bevragen in de keuken maar wij hebben geen antwoord gekregen. Dat doet ons vermoeden dat onze feedback terecht was. Wij hebben de rekening betaald en stonden op straat met het gevoel dat we bedrogen en bestolen waren.

Too bad because otherwise it would be something fun.

Small cozy restaurant in itself not special, but that doesn't matter much. I was greeted kindly upon entering and after a few minutes the same woman helped me. The food, the pasta: wild sea fish, was delicious. I do think that the coffee is very expensive: 3.20 euros for such a small cup which I finished in 3 sips. That's why 4 instead of 5 stars

Friendly welcome and quick drinks. It was a bit of a long wait for the food. Too bad my bouncer was cold and the sandwich was only baked for a very short time. A suggestion for the bouncer is to serve the same brown bread as with the croquettes, which looked much tastier. Otherwise nice, but could be better.

We had reserved a table, but we had to wait a while before we could be seated. Then we had to wait 50 minutes for our food. Very hungry now! We ordered vegetarian pasta and brie sandwich. Toast was cold, and the vegetarian pasta tasted bland and very little pasta. Went out hungry. Shame.

CAKE ROTTEN DON'T Pity. Upon arrival, a young man who helped us was very friendly and it turned out that the cherry pie was rotten and smelled like soapy water. Received 2 pieces of cherry pie, same again. Asked other people but they also said they thought it smelled. Still walked back to a blonde, sturdy woman to tell me that the pie didn't taste very good, the lady couldn't do anything with it and started telling me that my taste was not right. And becomes very irritated. I am shocked by her reaction and offer to smell the cake. The woman's colleague stood up for her and within no time I had 4 colleagues hanging on me who did not help me in a friendly manner and actually wanted to show me the door asap. It's a shame that they treated you this way all those years ago.

Upon arrival on the terrace on the Maas, chair and everything fell down the steps. Resulting in a blue arm and buttock. That doesn't help anyone at first. Was locked in the chairs. After I was finally straight. Was the reaction anything but what you expected... that happened every week according to the waiter. It goes for a short while and nothing more. I had to be at the church. They rent the terrace from the municipality... no ice offered, nothing. I now regret that I still drank and ate there. It was quite tasty though. You feel so helpless when you're stuck there. My son was with me and didn't know where to start. Don't even say we'll get the coffee from the shop. Nothing. The help was really insufficient, it's a pity that I only realized that afterwards.

Had dinner at 't Piepenhoes for the first time yesterday. The starter (baguette with sauces) was delicious. We ordered a steak (medium) and salmon with white fish as a main course. The steak was overdone, but my partner didn't mind. We switched dishes halfway through. And unfortunately we were both sick last night. (we suspect the food, because this is the only thing we both ate the same that day) Edited answer: Last Sunday (Aug 25). It was the fish pan with salmon and whitefish.

Last Thursday, after reading the reviews, we sat on the terrace at 't Piepenhoes with great anticipation. After waiting for some time, a waitress came to us. This employee showed little job satisfaction. We wanted to eat pie, but unfortunately it was no longer in stock. Then we ordered some drinks. This was brought after some time by another waitress. There were four of us and after serving three drinks she would walk away and no one at the table would have anything to drink. After our intervention, the fourth drink was still served. Then the waitress wanted to walk away and some drinks (including 2 glasses of white wine) on the tray fell over onto our clothes and bags. The waitress was annoyed by this and came with all kinds of napkins. We had the impression that she has not been working here for long. She then continued with her work and it was visible that she was consulting with other colleagues. No one else came to us to ask if there were any problems. After we had consumed the drinks, we asked for the bill and then another colleague came (seemed to be a senior/manager) and he let us pay and then the comment came: 'oh there was an accident with you, well luckily that was the case. the water.' When we indicated that it was not water but wine. She apologized again, but added a comment that she was not the one who did it. It's nice to have colleagues like that🤔. All in all, we did not feel welcome at all and were simply thrown into the reeds. It's a good thing it wasn't red wine. I would walk a large arc around this and quickly cross the Servaas bridge. UPDATE: In response to the owner's response, I would like to make an addition to this. The waitress who dropped the tray indeed apologized several times. The disappointment with the solution offered is not towards her but towards the superior with whom we had to pay. Her attitude was anything but customer friendly. She could have done it neater and solved it better. And solving it with a joke that luckily it is water and then hearing from us that it is wine and then not offering a better solution is not very customer-friendly and solution-oriented in our opinion.

My wife ordered croquettes with bread, but got fries, I had a pulled pork sandwich, half of it was burnt black, which I showed, and she agreed, after consultation with the chef, 2 drinks were taken from our bill, personally I should have just dropped the price of the sandwich... Unfortunately

Bad service!! I sat with my mother on the terrace by the water (14-8 around 1:00 PM). Food and drinks came fairly quickly. Unfortunately, there was ham on the healthy sandwich, while we had indicated that we wanted it without ham (it was resolved!). Only then did we want to order a drink. Servant did not come. Called a few times. At one point she was nowhere to be seen. We wanted to pay. It took a very long time before the clerk came. When paying, my mother advised the clerk to take a closer look around to see if there were people who wanted to order/pay for something (there were several tables that were waiting for a long time & also people who walked away because they were not helped). ). Her answer was that we should complain to the boss... very strange. We don't come here anymore. Perhaps as an owner, speak to the staff about it? You miss out on a lot of turnover.

The waitress explains her “refusal to work” with the daytime temperature, 32 degrees. I initially sat on the terrace for about 15 minutes without anyone coming to serve me. Visited 't Piepenhoes for the first time. I ordered Liège balls with bread. After waiting 5 minutes, we were told that these were no longer available. Okay, then let's have an egg roll with bacon. At first it looked normal, but the bacon on the egg looked very greasy, it turned out that the frying fat from the pan had also been dumped on it. Apparently it was too difficult for the cook to let the bacon drip out first. Well, a big disappointment!

Stopped here with Ic and Flic for my usual holiday breakfast of coffee and a small beer. We sat on the large river side terrace on a cool and cloudy July morning. ( after torrential rain yesterday.) Very pleasant and we had very efficient service. There is a smaller front terrace in front of the building and a pleasant interior dining space. Toilets down some steep steps in the basement. Two coffees and a small beer 9.7€

' Piepenhoes, we've been coming there for years. We are also from Limburg ourselves. But what I did notice is that the pieces of pie were not very large. We as Limburgers get 10 pieces out of a regular fruit pie, but the Piepenhoes gets at least 12 pieces out of it. The price is quite high, so we were a bit disappointed. By the way, the pie was tasty.

Great place to sit and eat during the day, unless you are vegetarian. Very few options to take seriously. Even all sandwiches are with meat or fish. How hard can it be?
