We had a very disappointing experience as a group. Some of our friends were pressured to place orders. I ordered an iced latte, but a different drink with biscuit cream was served. When I politely explained that this wasn't what I ordered, the staff refused to change it, stating they had already mentioned it. Poor customer service and unhelpful staff.

Super fast and nice service. The steak frites and chicken tenders were delicious and great for the price. Also great beer options!

Service was terrible. Food came, no cuttlery, we eventually had to eat our snacks by hand. Luckily I had serviettes in my handbag.

Contacted customer service (owner?) of Corner Bakery via the website and was treated downright rudely. He/she even shared 3 photos with the names of various people who had made reservations with them, including the date and time of their reservation.....Very unprofessional.

A lovely spot on the Vrijthof for dinner; I ate here myself via Social Deal for 19.95. The sour meat was delicious and served with French fries. It is often difficult for me to eat out due to my allergies, but here they took excellent care to accommodate my needs. Truly wonderful!

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place. The food was a complete disaster. The fries were so hard you couldn't even get them on your fork. The breaded fish was probably frozen and more of a child's portion. The steak was tough. The only positive thing is the location.

I really don't recommend it. The service was already mediocre. We ordered for four people, and one of us never received their plate. We even had to ask for cutlery. The fries (frozen) were really bad, and the burger patties looked like anything but real meat. The toilet door doesn't go all the way to the floor, so privacy is nonexistent.

We had a cocktail here during happy hour (from around 5:00 PM). Five different cocktails for €8.50 each. The staff was very slow though; we sat with empty glasses for a long time and paying took a while too. There were a lot of people around us on the terrace with Social Deal, unfortunately we found out about that too late haha.

We ordered the steak and fries. But in its simplicity, it was just really, really good. I didn't have high expectations, but they were truly exceeded by a wide margin. Good steak, well cooked, good fries, good salad. Super friendly staff. Definitely recommended.

I was at Gerard's tonight. We were with a large group, yet the waiters continued to provide top-notch service. Gilles, the waiter we could ask anything, deserves a special mention. Where the average bar staff couldn't see the wood for the trees, Gilles kept everything under control. If you get the chance, visit this hotspot and ask for Gilles.

Had a delicious lunch today. We had fries with a frikadel for the little one, and we had a steak sandwich and the Club Gerard with delicious crispy tenders in between. A delicious lunch, we will definitely be back! Friendly service, food on the table quickly, and great taste.

The food was fine and the staff friendly. However, we had to wait an hour for dinner. Apparently, they had forgotten about us. The reason we sat inside was the heavy cigar and cigarette smoke on the terrace. Due to our little daughter's respiratory infection, we couldn't handle that. Unfortunately, once inside, a member of staff started smoking by the doorway while there was plenty of room on the terrace, so we had to move again. It is a real shame that smokers are given preferential treatment and that there isn't a smoke-free section of the terrace.

The prices were relatively reasonable for the restaurant's location, but we waited a long time and the service was slow despite there being few people around. The drinks and food were tasty, although I don't understand why the Dutch serve nachos with their hamburgers.

I picked out a 2-course menu deal via Smart Market and had a delicious meal for the amount I paid. They no longer had the goat cheese salad, so I was offered 3 alternative choices. I had a delicious fish salad as a starter and a tasty portion of fries with delicious sour meat. Friendly service and a view of the Vrijthof.

Wonderful location, right in the middle of the old town of Maastricht. The only thing exceeding the drinks (cocktails) and traditional kitchen, is the staff. Serving you with a smile and professionalism beyond belief. 5 stars without a doubt!

We chose this brasserie. What do you choose with so many restaurants next to each other? In the end, we opted for this atmospheric brasserie, where the staff immediately caught our eye. We were drawn to the nice, enthusiastic staff (Gilles, George, and Sven). They make you feel completely at home. The club steak was definitely recommended. Fast and efficient service! Highly recommended.

The staff were friendly but seemed less interested in customers. They seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves. The restaurant was nice, but the drinks weren't particularly good. We can't really comment on the food since we were there after 10 pm and didn't stay long. It's a shame. I wouldn't come back. The reviews and average rating of 3.7 aren't for nothing.

Meh, even the ice cream isn't great. The food is basic, very basic, and greasy. In short, keep walking.

The food was okay, but the service was appalling. Coming from Canada, the service was minimal; we had to set our own cutlery, which had been left on the end of the table. There was no attention to detail during the service, and the worst part was when it came time to pay: the waiter refused to give me the bill before taking my payment. I politely explained in English that I would like a detailed bill before paying for the table, but he refused despite my insistence and raised his voice. So I paid an amount with my credit card without knowing if the bill was correct. I did receive the bill after payment to check that everything was in order. I have never seen a restaurant operate like this...

Ordered a snack platter for 23 euros for 2/3 people. 8 hot bar snacks, 12 nacho chips, half a piece of bread, some small cheese cubes including beard hair... and 4 mini dips. This was truly so bad that you dare to serve it for this price at all. Peculiar service. The gentlemen really enjoyed it. Not.

Too bad, a letdown. Previously always tasty dishes. Now it is exactly like all the others in the row. You order a club sandwich and get a bun. And something black and small granules were sprinkled over the croquettes. Because of my mom's bun, I gathered it was edible. Because my first reaction was yuck, did that just come out of the deep fryer? Not to mention the paprika powder that had been dumped on the croquette. The waiter was a loud, unfriendly person who was clearly not fully awake yet from his heavy night yesterday. Instead of helping, he made fun of the people. When I wanted to pay inside in an otherwise empty place, I was ignored until the bartender had ended the conversation with the cook by shouting from the bar. All in all, clearly not focused on hospitality…

We were not allowed to sit at a table on the terrace for drinks at 4:00 PM (this was only for lunch and dinner). Furthermore, the entire terrace was having drinks. We were allowed inside, but there was no one else there and the music was so loud that you could barely hear each other. We just left.

Im gonna say it as it is; I never left a bad review before, but I have never ever been so disappointed and mistreated as a client. The staff was not only rude, he was utterly disrespectful, it felt like I was forcing him to pay for my lunch. And I'm not of those that enjoy confrontation, more like the opposite, I smiled and thanked him for everything even after he called me stupid and laughed at me for a mistake he made... Lastly, and skipping the other unpleasant interactions that sadly we had to endure but I won't go over, it seemed that he was busier harassing the waitress on the restaurant next by than actually doing his job, and the few he did I think would have been better if he hadn't done anything at all. Additionally there was another group of people sitting down next to us that received the same treatment as us, at least he doesn't discriminate. The food... well, I'm from those that would enjoy a dubious animal origin cold dish. That being said, this food wasn't inedible, maybe a bit, but thats all the good there is about it. Also they have a beer of their own brewery, I'm no expert, but I wouldn't recommend it, the other options are better. P.S.: The mistake I mentioned happened like this; they only have 0.5L water bottles listed in the menu and I asked if there were any bigger bottles, he told me they had of 1.5L and when I asked for the price he proceeded to point at the 0.5L one in the menu, then laughed at me for telling him that it wasn't of 1.5L as he said, and it wasn't an issue of language barrier or loud background noise, he just committed an understandable human mistake, yet he insulted me and laughed while my shocked gaslighted head tried to process what just happened.

On Sundays, enjoy delicious apple strudel and a specialty beer - definitely recommended!

I had a delicious pie and coffee here this morning. They were just opening when I walked by, and I received a warm welcome. I could sit outside on the terrace and gaze out over the square. The friendly staff turned on the heat lamps especially for me.

I visited the Christmas market and ate at this restaurant right by the Vrithof. The daily special was steak with fries; the food was good, but the portion was more like a child's plate. An adult wouldn't get full from that!

Very nice place for a satisfying breakfast. The only negative remark is the service. The waitresses are lovely but the service is too slow, you'll wait 45 minutes minimum for your order. That's a pity because you cannot go if you have other plans right after.

Booked through a social deal. The food was decent, but the service was terrible. I had to ask for a second drink myself, as the waiter was very disingenuous. He spent our entire visit yelling at the other waitress, which could be heard throughout the restaurant, but didn't offer any help himself, and his explanation to her was also terrible. During dessert, there was a hair in the ice cream. After I pointed this out to the waiter, it was returned within 20 seconds. You could still see the spot where the hair was; it had just been removed and extra chocolate sauce had been poured over it. I explained that it wasn't a new dessert, which the waiter went to check and claimed it was. Besides the cold service, it was also incredibly cold in the restaurant; several people at various tables were wearing coats! It was warmer outside on the terrace afterward than inside. Such a shame!

Ate here through Social Deal. We shared a delicious starter: calamari and carpaccio. The main course was sea bream fillet on a bed of vegetables, very tasty. And a generous dessert. Highly recommended.

We were drawn by the beautiful style of the terrace and the dishes served by the guests. We decided to sit inside because we wanted to be with our kids. Inside, it seemed like less effort had gone into the decor. We ordered two sweet dishes for our kids and ordered the more luxurious drinks platter for €23.95, as we didn't want to limit ourselves to fried food. The two stars go to our son's lava cake, which he absolutely loved. The dry waffle for €11 wasn't so great. But then came the drinks platter. It contained a large, sliced ​​pistolet, a kilo of cheese cubed in a small bowl, four mini containers of sauce, and the rest was filled with only fried snacks. Of course, our expectations were also part of the disappointment, but is this really €24? What am I supposed to do with dry bread and a kilo of cheese? Can't this really be topped off with a slice of meat or sausage and a bowl of herb butter? When we asked about something to go with the bread, we were told it was a mini bowl of aioli. It's shameful that this is your "luxury" snack platter and then they charge such a high price. This doesn't belong on the Vrijthof square.

Had a fantastic breakfast here! I saw the lovely breakfast menu and it appealed to me. We tried several things and shared them. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a breakfast spot. It was morning, by the way, so the Vrijthof square was still nice and quiet.

We went to Gerard in Maastricht and were unfortunately disappointed overall. While the quality of the food was good and the dishes beautifully presented, the value for money was completely out of this world. The portions are extremely small: a "yogurt bowl" consisted of a few tablespoons of Greek yogurt, a few fruits, and a mini portion of granola – and it cost over €10. The same goes for the pancakes: a small stack of mini pancakes with a few thin slices of apple, what felt like two strawberries, and two grapes. The taste was good, but unfortunately quite overpriced. On the positive side, the location/atmosphere and the relatively attentive staff deserve mention.

There used to be a "corner bakery" here, which was useless, but luckily there's now a decent restaurant where I had a delicious meal with my family!
