We had dinner in the evening, but it was very disappointing. We had made a reservation quite early, but the waiter gave us a vague explanation that some tables were early, so ours wasn't available yet. We were asked to wait for a drink at the side of the restaurant. We sat there for half an hour, but when I went over to the same waiter to ask if our table was available, he gave me a blank stare and went to clear a table for us. Very unusual. The food was mediocre. My table companion had a curry that was mediocre, and I had the fish with gnocchi; there were six gnocchi in the entire dish. All in all, not recommended.

A bit noisy and pricey, but otherwise ok.

I don't know how many times a server, often in a state of low stature, has to walk past the table before they finally deign to ask the guest what they would like. In our case, it happened six times, and after about 20 minutes of waiting, I was ready to leave with my javelin in hand.

I can eat anything honestly but I had trouble finishing the vegetarian food( Rice & curry) ! It tasted weird(Can’t describe it)! The sweet was also too sugary! Didn’t enjoy the food!

Unique space, industrial meets exploded thrift store, with a nice patio right outside. The service is really vague and slow, the acoustics are terrible, but the dishes were surprising and affordable. The place is getting new owners, so who knows...?

We waited a long time for our coffee (30 minutes) and another 20 minutes for our soup. The service was friendly and did their best, but they were clearly understaffed and not organized enough.

A really cool spot on the edge of Maastricht's city center. And yet only a 10-minute walk from the Vrijthof square. Parking garage nearby. Friendly staff and delicious food. Prepared with love. Truly fantastic.

Great atmosphere, delicious food and a well curated variety of beers. Great place to work, study, hang out with friends and create community. Good products and very very tasty food (Erg lekker!!!). But of everything that's good of this place, our absolute highlight (Went there with my girlfriend) was the good, friendly and super kind service. The schnitzels nights on tuesday are great! What I don’t understand is why they are always sold out. We have gone 5 times specifically for the schnitzel around 19.00 and they have been sold out 3 times. They should have more in stock. We are disappointed :(

Cute little terrace under the trees. The service was extremely friendly but very slow; it took ages to order. It took 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and then we had to wait an hour (!) for our food. The food was very tasty, though.

Not as fast as a fire engine. It was difficult to get a waitress to come to my table, but I finally succeeded, and the attitude wasn't friendly. I finally left because I still hadn't received my drink after 45 minutes.

Informal, on a busy street towards the city center. Fairly basic and quite alternative. But good reviews, so I went for breakfast. It was disappointing; there was no crunch or flavor, and with salt and pepper, it wouldn't have been much better. Our Strammer Max (2) was not what it looked like. It looked great on the plate, but the taste was downright bland. Otherwise, it's a nice place and the people are friendly.

Edit: new staff is very attentive and quick in service. The menu this year has been insanely good. Recommended. Lovely terrace! Staff is friendly but many times it feels as if I have to wait a long time to get their attention even if I go stand by the bar. Regardless of, would still recommend this place for enjoying a drink at their terrace.

Great place to chill and sip a coffee

This is a must-visit if you visit Maastricht. A beautiful building, a charming space, and creative cuisine. The service is absolutely fantastic. 5 stars!

We arrived a little before 9 pm, which was already a bit late for dinner, so we only had a few drinks. Excellent atmosphere and good service.

Good service and delicious food!

The wait for food and drinks was very long, even though it didn't seem particularly busy. The food was delicious, and the portions were huge for a good price.

Located in the former fire brigades garage, a bit outside the center of Maastricht. Good variety in the menu to suit vegetarians, vegans and meat/fish eaters. Interesting combinations. We had the white fish with asparagus and the ball zucchinis with feta cheese. Both excellent and recommended. The leafy salad was good, too, because it was indeed a large bowl of mixed salad leafs. Just the way I like it! We did not have space in our stomachs to try a desser, but the black coffee was good and came with a small chocolate chip cookie. The brandweer kantine has a nice outdoor terras and multiple cocktails, beers and wines. You can spend a long and pleasant evening here.

Excellent place to have a drink in an eclectic and original atmosphere

A cool mix of an old canteen and a restaurant. Very spacious inside and a lovely outdoor area, especially with the trees. We walked by and were invited to sit down. The service was extremely friendly. Some oil was spilled, and we were promised something to clean it up, but unfortunately, this didn't happen. Otherwise, everything was great and I definitely recommend it.

Tuesday night is schnitzel night, and what a treat it was. Truly the most delicious schnitzels I've ever had. The service was also top-notch. The woman was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was lovely. I highly recommend eating on a Tuesday, but be sure to arrive early, as the schnitzels were gone after we left.

Contrary to the numerous complaints about the service here: on a Saturday evening at 8 p.m., two of us were quickly seated (we did have reservations), and in no time we received our drinks, menu, and wine list. The service was enthusiastic, pleasant, and fast. We had to ask for a little time between the starter and main course because we were worried the speed would get in our way. We had a vegetarian meal, but we saw excellent meat options. The food was delicious, perhaps a bit on the safe side by the kitchen; you can assume most guests have had an Ottolenghi experience by now and can handle a more intense, exciting version. We chose an orange wine, one of which gave us a kombucha experience (is that possible? Yes, it is). That's odd, but not unpleasant. We were allowed to have an extra glass while the tables around us were being set for the next day's lunch. We truly spent a lovely evening, with the feeling that we were being looked after (in the best sense of the word!).

They forgot the coffee in my Italian coffee.

The food is great, but the service is truly terrible. We constantly had to ask for attention (with hands in the air, etc.) because the staff preferred to chat behind the bar. It's the kind of place where customer experience is completely ignored. Besides, according to the menu, you get a free beer with your schnitzel. When I explained that I didn't drink alcohol, the response was: "Yes, we can't serve anything without alcohol." Of course we can! You don't want it; that's a different story. So, once again, a major failing in terms of customer experience.

.We've been coming to Brandweer regularly for the last two years, and it's always been a warm, welcoming place with consistently great food and atmosphere. The team here does a wonderful job making guests feel at home. One person who’s especially stood out is Santi—our favorite server. He told us today that tomorrow will be his last shift here. Over the years, he’s become more than just a server: he’s been a gracious host, a familiar face, and a friend who helped make Brandweer feel like a second home. He'll definitely be missed.

I love brandweer. I’m a regular costumer, come for the good cocktails and vibes but I must say, I stay for the excellent service, met a lovely chap, don’t recall his name, but great fella. Always a laugh with that guy.

Unfortunately there was no ice available for the cocktails, also no coffee could be drunk at the end of the evening, so all choices had to be changed. The decor looks nice, nice barracks.

Unfortunately, disappointing – not a second time" My girlfriend and I visited this restaurant for the first time today. The ambiance is truly exceptional, and we were initially greeted warmly. However, the tone of the waitress (a young woman with curly hair) changed when I politely asked for an alternative to a dish that wasn't on the menu. Although the restaurant was sparsely attended, it took over ten minutes for us to receive an answer – and the question seemed increasingly annoying. What was particularly incomprehensible was that there are several egg dishes on the menu, but a simple scrambled egg was not possible, according to the waitress. It's a shame, because I would have expected more accommodating service, especially in a flexible breakfast restaurant. Overall, the service also seemed unprofessional. In the end, we were ignored and had to go to the counter to pay. At no point was I unfriendly or demanding – I simply had a question about a dish. A disappointing experience that unfortunately doesn't leave a good impression. We won't be returning.

Delicious food and a great atmosphere. A breakfast like you eat in a luxury hotel. A nice croissant, a crispy fresh roll, really good ham, cheese, jam and of course a nice boiled egg. The yoghurt with granola and honey was also very tasty. Recommended!!

Great place for lunch or dinner and large groups. Also to be alone with laptop or reading material among people. The dishes change regularly, so often a surprise what is on the menu. Wide choice of drinks, including even Kombucha. The dessert "Lime cream with Oreo and passion fruit" is totally my thing.

A great place to hang out with friends or spend some time. It’s an old fire station that has been repurposed into a community-like space. The atmosphere here is great, accounting to that is the fact that there’s always people here. They have the usual selection of beers and other drinking options and a nice selection of bites to eat. The food is ok, nothing special but made with fresh and high quality ingredients. Overall a good place to spend some time in Maastricht.

The place looks cozy and the food was tasteful. However, it took a long time before we could order and before the food arrived. There seems to be insufficient staff for the size of the business. Then it turned out that part of our order had not gone through properly and therefore did not arrive. When we asked about this, it was probably oh my bad, but no solution was offered. We shared the sandwiches that were available. Sorry about the bad service.

There are plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans, which is a plus. The ingredients are fresh and the presentation is neat. The coffee is good and the pastries are delicious, perfect for a relaxing afternoon. The service is friendly, but can sometimes be a bit slow, especially at busy times. That's not necessarily a nuisance, but if you're in a hurry, it can be a drawback. However, the atmosphere makes up for a lot: it feels homely and casual. Final rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5 stars) A nice place with good food and a nice atmosphere. Small areas for improvement are the speed of the service and perhaps some more changing specials on the menu. But definitely recommended if you like a relaxed, creative dining experience!

Vrijdagavond hier gegeten. Het was redelijk druk maar toch redelijk snel werd onze bestelling opgenomen. Ook snel werd het bestelde brood met dip gebracht. Jammer dat het drinken een kwartier later kwam. Toen het hoofdgerecht werd bezorgd en onze glazen al geruime tijd leeg waren, om nieuwe volle glazen gevraagd. Pas toen onze borden al geruime tijd leeg waren werd het drinken pas gebracht - mosterd na de maaltijd - dus die hebben we afgewezen. Zelf maar de lege borden opgestapeld, want die stonden er ook al weer een half uur. Koffie zouden we waarschijnlijk ook niet krijgen voor sluitingstijd. Eten was prima maar de rest… helaas.

Delicious food, but the service was very slow. So slowly that we only got our drinks after the food was long gone. So we sent it back and never received the coffee we ordered. The space looks nice with all kinds of plants as a partition between the tables, but it remains very noisy. Difficult to have a normal conversation.

If you love waiting an eternity (45 minutes!) for something as simple as a toast, this is the perfect place for you! And as a bonus, they might even surprise you with the wrong order—who doesn’t love a little mystery with their meal? The level of professionalism here is truly… non-existent. The perfect place to come in with a smile and leave with a headache! Avoid if you value your time!

Granola breakfast with Kumquat! Delicious

Beautiful building with a nostalgic appearance. I was very well received and had a good meal there. The beautiful restaurant has a well-kept impression and a design from the 1960s. There are many friendly people there from all parts of the world. If you visit Maastricht you really have to experience this. The prices there are normally not really expensive.

The food is fine. Unfortunately we had to wait almost 1.5 hours for our starter. People who came in later had their food earlier. When we asked the waitress where our starter was, she went to inquire. We were told that the order went through and that they are working on it. No excuses at all for it taking so long. You also had to tell the waiter that you wanted to order something to drink, they did not notice if your glass was empty. For the price, I expected more service.
