It's always a treat to eat at Loetje. The Loetje steak remains a favorite. No nonsense, with delicious main course and bread for dipping. Add fries and enjoy, without unnecessary vegetable garnishes or lettuce leaves. Please don't change this concept, and we'll keep coming back.

Typical Loetje. Great food, great atmosphere. Be careful where you sit, though, because when the door opens, a cold wind blows through the restaurant.

As always, I had a delicious steak. The Balinese version (with sambal) remains my absolute favorite, and dipping the bread in the gravy is simply a must, delicious. For dessert, I had sticky toffee, which never disappoints. I definitely appreciated the staff's jokes; they were funny and customer-friendly. When you share their sense of humor, that's fantastic.

I was in the area and decided to eat at Loetje aan de Amstel. Upon entering, however, we were told there was no table, while upon leaving, we saw several empty tables. It felt unwelcoming and unlike the Loetje we know. I won't be visiting this location again.

Enjoyed the classic steak. The service was excellent, professional and attentive despite the restaurant being full. The atmosphere is good, but the sound of voices bounces a bit off the tight ceiling.

Loetje is Loetje. The food is delicious, as it has been for years. Half an hour after the bill (over €100) was paid, a staff member rudely told us that two drinks weren't on the bill and that we still needed to pay for them. After some resistance, they decided to leave it at that. The approach was unacceptable.

The steak and the side dishes tasted great. But… the steak, which was supposed to be 150 grams, was maybe 75 grams. (Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo due to my astonishment at the size.) The service was perfect and there was nothing to complain about, but the weight of the steak was absolutely wrong. When I asked the staff, they said that everything had been weighed, so it should be correct. Is the scale broken?

We went out to dinner with friends at Loetje. Although Loetje is always delicious, I fancied something different. Ooooh... I saw mussels on the special daily menu! I thought: this time I'll order something new. Yes! Highly recommended, super delicious!

A great restaurant, known for its steaks, of course. They were even garnished and made even more delicious with chicken livers, among other things... I don't eat meat, and I didn't order the steak. Honestly, give this one a try... I was pleasantly surprised! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water again! Truly delicious!

We had the Balinese steak... We expected a lot from it; the meat was fine, but the gravy was incredibly salty!!! The jar of sambal oelek was empty, anyway. Also, with such high prices, you have to pay extra for your side dishes. We thought they'd be nice green beans. They were really undercooked, and I like a bit of bite, but this was way too much. The service was otherwise excellent. The restaurant was busy, so the three of us sat at a bar table. The cocktail was also excellent. Enriched by our experience...poorer by our illusions -.- I expected much more.

Paid €25 for a small steak swimming in a puddle of salty, burnt margarine with black bits floating in it, served with two slices of plain white supermarket bread COLD. . Fries, veggies, and salad are all extra – add another €20 for that. So, in reality, the main course ends up costing around €45. For that price, I expected something special, but the steak was mediocre and the famous “gravy” is nothing more than burnt margarine without any real flavor. On top of that, the service was disappointing. When we politely asked to switch to English, the smile disappeared and rudeness took its place. For a restaurant with such a reputation, this was a huge letdown. 1st and last time there!

Meat was great, but they need to work on the hospitality aspect of it.

The food was awesome! The steak was super tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The baked liver had a perfect crispy crust and was nice and juicy inside. Even though the place was packed, our table for five was really comfy. The service was great, and our food came out quick.

The food was decent, nothing special. The acoustics inside were poor (making it difficult to hear my table companions). When I ordered white bread from the staff (because it wasn't served with our meal), I was told it wasn't possible because they were out of it. They then proceeded to serve it to other tables, which was a shame... It was the last time for me.

Fantastic. The waiter (a bald gentleman with glasses) was truly amazing. The steak was fantastic, as was the carpaccio. Definitely recommended.

Good Food but a Bit slow service

We had a fantastic meal, four steaks (two Loetje steaks, one Balinese steak, and one garlic steak) with fries and salad to share AND bread to soak up the gravy. We loved it! The service was quick and friendly, and we had a lovely time on the terrace. What more could you ask for?

Had a delicious steak with my family. There were coloring pages with crayons for the kids, and the restrooms have a place to change the little ones—great! We always have a steak here, and the kids get a children's menu. Always good!

It's a shame the waitress wasn't hospitable. It wasn't even busy, it was a hot day, and she didn't even come by to ask if we wanted another drink. She also didn't ask if everything was to our liking; otherwise, we certainly could have asked. Lunch was perfect, though!

I was there on Saturday and didn't have a reservation, but I still got a spot next to the entrance. My wife and I had a wonderful meal there, and the service was great. Highly recommended for everyone. Loetje was really delicious!

The steak at Loetje is, as always, excellent; we'd love to come back for that. It's a shame that the service, especially the slightly older woman, comes across as very disinterested and grumpy every time we come. That detracts from the overall experience. Perhaps a tip would be to employ more energetic and hospitable staff, because friendly service makes all the difference. Grumpy service is a definite no-go.

At Loetje, the steak is exactly how I remember it from my childhood: perfectly tender, bathed in rich gravy, with white bread to mop up every drop. What a treat!

The steak is truly one of the best. We sat on the back patio. Lots of friendly critters visited. A wasp came to sniff the radler, three jackdaws stared at the food from my mouth, and a fly wanted to sniff the gravy. That's when you know you're enjoying the outdoors. 🤣

Crowded and hot Long wait Loud music

The Loetje concept offers excellent value for money. It's known for its steak in gravy, which is delicious with a sandwich. Of course, fries are also available, and satay is also on the menu. 'Aan de Amstel' has a lovely waterfront terrace, so you can also reach it by boat. Inside, there's plenty of space, it looks cozy, and the staff is friendly. I had the steak for lunch and a cup of coffee (café solo), and the coffee was also delicious. Definitely recommended!

The beef steak or biefstuk is excellent. A tenderloin cut pan seared. I got the large - lol - that was about 8oz. Appetizers and side dishes were excellent. Fries, brussel sprouts and veggies were perfect. Will visit again.

We had a wonderful time here, the only problem here is there is no bag for takeaway food, we ordered two times French fries, we could not eat it all, so we want to take the left back for a snack, the other ober boy just told us there is no bag at all and he could do nothing about that, and then the hero came he helped with a solution that it could be wrapped with aluminiumfoil, it was solved then, thanks to Roy, he deserves a raise in salary!

Yes it is Loetje, but a chain restaurant certainly does not mean uniformity in this case. In other words, delicious food and despite the crowds, super friendly staff. Only parking remains a difficult task, but for the rest a big 5 stars.

Had a great meal, the Loetje steak is famous for a reason! The side dishes are also great. It was busy and warm but you have to prepare yourself for that. If you want a quiet and intimate dinner, you shouldn't go to Loetje but if you are looking for this cozy hustle and bustle, you are in the right place! This restaurant is also in a beautiful location. Recommended!

Loetje is highly recommended! We have been there several times and will definitely come back. The steak is always cooked perfectly and the gravy is really great – full of flavour and just right. All the variations are delicious, whether you go for the spicy Bali, the classic Original or the garlic variation. It is always cosy and the seating is nice. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and consistently high quality. In short: a top address for a wonderful evening out!

Price quality ratio was really good. 7 people, meat, 2 types of fries, salad, mushrooms, delicious crispy green beans with a perfect bite and a delicious dessert including tip just under €50 per person (June 2025). The service was friendly and attentive, and the food tasty. However, you have to be prepared for a stack of sliced ​​​​sandwiches to be placed on the table. Oh well, amazing food. Steaks are crazy good. I’ve tried all the options: classic, garlic and spicy. All of them are great. Also sola was very tender and really well cooked. The only thing I would suggest to do is to offer wider variety of local beers.

Last week I treated my dad from my salary, just to give something back. We ordered a main course and then spontaneously decided to have dessert. That dessert was really next level — super beautifully presented, with those little details and sauces around it. My dad was amazed and said: “this is really special food.” He didn’t know that it was actually quite cheap 😂.

We had a team outing. When ordering the steak, they didn't ask how it should be cooked, we only got toasted bread, not tasty with steak and gravy. When we asked if the steak came with garlic gravy, they said I don't know. Nothing else happened. Someone had gluten-free but didn't get any bread with it. We reported this and were told that person would get a scolding, but nothing else was done about that either. This is not what we are used to. Last year it was a lot better. We were disappointed. Unfortunately.

Had dinner here with a group of friends before going to the Usher concert. Nice location and enough parking behind the restaurant (paid parking, but not expensive). We all had steak, I had one with Bali gravy. The meat was well cooked and deliciously tender. The gravy was a bit too salty. As side dishes we had fries, sweet potato fries and a salad. Very tasty! Service fast and friendly. Atmospheric restaurant.

We thought it would be nice to have dinner with our family at Loetje. I usually notice that the service at Loetje is not fantastic, but today it was not at all. The four of us came to eat and took the AH menu from Loetje. We asked for the menu, since we wanted to order a main course. The staff replied: Yes, I can't smell that, can I? You would think that staff should be customer-friendly to customers, but that is certainly not the case here at Loetje! A very unfortunate experience and it made my evening a lot less enjoyable...

Unfortunately! One star is still too many in this experience with Loetje aan de Amstel. We had made a reservation for 3 people. And immediately sent an email with an extra request. Mom was also with us. 90 years old and supported we stood at the entrance. They still had a high table with stools or a table for two where they wanted to put a chair. So then we just left. Where the lady who helped us shouted somewhat irritated: "Okay, bye!!" What a disappointment on Liberation Day with Mom of 90 years old. Well, there you are. But next to Loetje aan de Amstel is Restaurant Heisa. Without a reservation we went in there. Here they knew what service was. They arranged a normal table with normal chairs and that also met the extra request and the food was delicious! The next day a feedback email was sent to Loetje. Received a quick response from Loetje! In short: it was the customer's fault. After all, we had made a last-minute reservation. (That day in the morning via their site). And an email that you send to Loetje (directantwoord@loetje.nl) does not guarantee that they will read it/do something with it. Nice email address by the way. The fact that you have made a reservation for three (3) people including confirmation, is not mentioned with a word. Apologies, but that was literally mustard after the meal. Too bad, if only the service was as good as the steak…..

The food at Loetje is excellent. It is a steak restaurant, but you decide the seasoning yourself. Add a bit of butter and you get a wonderfully tender piece of meat. Despite the simplicity of the concept, the prices are reasonable, probably due to the many good locations throughout the Netherlands. The tables are fairly close together, but that is nothing special in cities...

The service was a bit absent and not super enthusiastic, but otherwise a nice experience. What is useful to know: I couldn't find anywhere on the site or internet that you could park there, but it turned out that there was Loetje's own parking space!
