Young, enthusiastic staff. The food isn't spectacular, but it's simply good. A pleasant, cozy atmosphere. Delicious cappuccinos. I knocked over my coffee (and mentioned it) but they gave me a new one anyway. We were seated in the front of the restaurant. There was a long table with a birthday party. It was cozy, but the relatively low ceiling made it quite noisy. It's better to book a table in the back if you want a bit more peace and quiet. €9.50 for an apple pie with a small scoop of ice cream is an exorbitant price.

We had a business dinner here recently and the staff was fantastic. Great food and drinks and wonderful ambiance. Would definitely recommend.

This restaurant is a must for any visitor to the Bovenkerk area. Once again, the hospitality and food were fantastic. Whenever we are staying nearby, we always book a table here and have never been let down. The atmosphere is cosy and very welcoming. We've tried a few things from the menu (Cote de Beuf, Burger, Ribs, Steak, Ceaser Salad) and the quality has always been to an exceptionally high standard. Can't recommend enough. We will definitely be back for another visit when we're in the area.

Really great place and excellent food (I had a lot more more to eat than I planned for). Later it was very hard to get a taxi, so the owner drove us back to our hotel himself - fantastic!

Just had dinner at Colijn with a friend. It had been on my list for a while after a friend recommended it. We received a friendly welcome and were allowed to hang up our coats. We were even allowed to look around the various rooms. They looked really nice and beautifully decorated, with a roaring fire, lovely flowers, and decorations. The atmosphere is great. However, the service. I understand that it's difficult to find "suitable" staff these days. I personally value hospitality and service, and that's why tonight really bothered me. The staff seemed very young, so I'd like to give them the opportunity to learn from this. However, I did miss someone to share feedback with, so I chose this place. Upon arrival, there was only one table inside. We were seated right next to them. Then another table arrived and also had to sit right next to us. Pretty strange, considering the whole room was still empty. We waited at least 10 minutes for someone to come and take our drinks order. The table next to us was also constantly watching the staff (who were completely preoccupied with packing/setting up things?). They weren't looking at our tables. I've always learned: things stay put, guests leave. We finally just called someone ourselves. When someone arrived with the wine bottle to pour, another colleague shouted at him: "COOLER!" He then shouted back that we only had a glass and no bottle. The food order took a very long time, and we had to call someone ourselves. I ordered the vegan satay. I was very excited that a restaurant actually had it. (The food is presented beautifully and neatly, by the way). I asked the server: "What is the satay made of?" "I don't know." They looked at me with laughter. "Um, yeah, I just think it's really nice that you serve it because I don't normally see it." B: shrugged. Laughing: "Grass or something" and walked away. I was stunned and asked if the kitchen staff could check. As a vegetarian, I felt quite foolish. The table wasn't cleaned, and we ended up putting dirty placemats and empty glasses on another table ourselves so they could take them away. Several servers asked the same question in quick succession, and the list goes on. I understand that everyone has the opportunity to learn, and that this lack of knowledge is probably related to age. However, I would strongly advise them to invest in this or appoint an experienced floor manager to guide and direct the staff, because for me personally, this was a real disappointment, even though the restaurant is truly beautiful and the food is excellent. For €60 per person, I expect a little more.

We had a great experience, the food was delicious and the service was very good

For years, one of my favorite spots in Amstelveen, for both lunch and dinner. It's always hard to choose with such an extensive menu and so many excellent wines!

My dinner here was an unforgettable experience. The dishes were carefully prepared and beautifully presented. Every ingredient seemed to have been carefully selected, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The service was extremely friendly and professional. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, ideal for a quiet evening. The wine pairing was carefully matched to the menu, which elevated everything to a higher level. The chairs were comfortable, and the space felt intimate. The dessert was heavenly and completed the evening. The value for money was excellent. This restaurant truly understands hospitality.

The service was unfriendly. The wine was good, but very little per glass. When one of us commented on this, it was snatched away. Later, it was returned with the comment that they had to get seven glasses from a bottle. If that's what you have to rely on... This was the third time I've eaten here, but we won't be back anytime soon.

Had a wonderful meal with friends and a cozy atmosphere perfect for an evening of dining with friends. Definitely recommended.

I had mixed feelings about my meal at Colijn. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the price-quality ratio is generally good. Unfortunately, the service left something to be desired: for example, the plates were placed on the table in a pile without explanation, which didn't seem very hospitable. We ordered the fish platter, which listed calamari as an item. However, it turned out to be missing, and no replacement or explanation was offered. This was a shame and gave the whole thing a sloppy impression. The food itself was otherwise fine, but the poor service and the missing promised items left me feeling somewhat disappointed. I subsequently left a review and received a very comprehensive and accurate response to my review very quickly. It's clear that Colijn takes feedback seriously, and I really appreciate that. Mistakes can always happen, of course, but it's how they handle them that makes the difference – and they did. We'll be back soon!

Third time visiting the restaurant. Always try to arrange a meal when on a work trip from Canada. Professional, attentive and courteous staff. Love the steak tartare. Food is always good. When travelling in the Netherlands again, I will make a point of returning for a fourth time.

We have eaten at Colijn so often in the past few years and everything was always TOP! Recently had a birthday party here. We made an appointment in advance with the owner, Arjan Roosen, who thought along with us very well and discussed everything with us down to the last detail. Even though the party was held in the afternoon, we could still - unlike other restaurants - choose a "Walking Dinner", preceded by delicious snacks (large crispy shrimps, Burgundian bitterballen and marinated chicken). Our guests could choose again and again to sit or stand at a table, or to move freely through the room to have a chat with everyone. Hats off to the lovely service, including the youngest who do this in addition to school. They have made a huge effort for all those hours - also before and after - and were always friendly and professional: real hostesses. They had decorated the room in an attractive way and provided the tables with flowers, nuts and olives; the standing tables were even provided with white tablecloths. No one had to stand "dry" and everything was cleared away unnoticed. The dishes of the chefs were delicious. All our guests and ourselves were full of praise for the whole and visibly enjoyed everything. Thank you very much, dear people! We will gladly come back here soon.

We enjoyed a great group dinner at Colijn. Arjan, our host, was highly accommodating and flexible, going the extra mile to welcome our Ukrainian guests. The food was excellent, and the service was both friendly and efficient. We look forward to coming back in the future.

Great location and delicious food

How bad this was. During corona times and before, Colijn was really good, but today we had dinner and it was really bad. Capriccio was split very thin, pasta with prawns was inedible, it looked like teenagers made it (too much salt, raw onion, raw zucchini, no pasta but noodles, prawns were raw. And we saw the apple pie, it looked like it came from Albert Heijn. Paying too much, unfortunately I ate almost nothing, and my husband was so hungry but got a stomach ache afterwards. No more Colijn.

Had a delicious Easter brunch at Colijn's today. Everything delicious and a great atmosphere. Definitely again next time

Very cozy cafe with a good selection of liquors and beers. For a private party there is a spacious room with plenty of options for an intimate and memorable evening.

Top destination.. Very good decorated restaurant with a different rooms for different occasions.. Highly recommend

The location and decoration of the restaurant are excellent. But that's where the passing grades end. To eat: Main courses are too expensive compared to what you get for them. You often have to order fries and vegetables separately. Desserts: ready-made from wholesale. Service: Lousy. Everyone ordered fries with the main course. They come along when everyone has finished eating. And then unashamedly putting it down without asking if anyone actually still wants it. And simply charge the full pound on the bill. Some had coffee and others had desserts. The desserts came first and the guests who had ordered coffee only came after the desserts were already gone. Conclusion. We ate something but otherwise wasted money. So we will pass by Colijn from now on.

Just had a cup of coffee with an apple pie after a visit to the Bloesempark. The hostess was incredibly nice and does her job with love!

Friendly service and delicious food.

Nice atmosphere, food was tasty but I was disappointed with espresso. You should improve it as it has not taste (it was a small black liquid without an aroma) you should replace your beans and adjust the grinder.

Nice tent in terms of interior, Only the food is substandard, a lot of money for little food. Mini bowl of vegetables, max 1 bite, I'm talking about no, not an exaggeration. Few fries or no vegetables or fries at all, or anything else that is extra in addition to a dish of 25-28 euros! You only get a piece of fish with a dollop of pumpkin puree. With the spareribs, 1 bite of coleslaw and a child's portion of fries for 25 euros! Saw that after the satay you also have to eat 3 sandwiches at home to feel full. Desserts are also expensive: 10 euros for 1 scoop of ice cream with a mini cake, which is outrageous. Starters also way too pricey. It's better to go to silver sand, pay 7 euros less and get double the price. Too bad, the tent itself is nice, but it means filling the owner's pockets and going home hungry.

Booked at wrong restaurant. But luckily we were at the restaurant where we wanted to eat. Unfortunately completely full. Still, they arranged a beautiful table next to the piano for me and my husband. The atmosphere, the ambiance; The lighting and decoration of this restaurant is so incredibly beautiful. Went there for Valentine's Day , great atmosphere , fireplace live entertainment. Great service . Food decent but could be better , good portion sizes . If you are a sensitive person then the live entertainment might be too much , you can then go to another area . There were some young kids for a 4 course menu so kids ate like in 5 mins and had to wait for parents so they were crying and stuff , may bother some people , not restaurants fault . Parking full close by but you can find just have to walk a few minutes. So summary worth trying

We hadden een mooie gelegenheid. We hadden zin in een heerlijk etentje en kozen voor de Cote de Boeuf. Helaas viel dit echt tegen. Het vlees was taai en ook koud, niet de kwaliteit die je verwacht van dit gerecht. De manager nam onze feedback niet echt serieus. Jammer, want onze ervaring is hiermee echt negatief beïnvloed. Ik hoop dat jullie er toch nog iets mee doen voor andere gasten.

Very good restaurant. Same as before. Haven't been here for a long time. But the food and service are still very good. The boss is also very enthusiastic. The price is also reasonable. The kids who ordered the lamb chops said they were delicious.

We had a very nice dinner yesterday. The waiting staff compensate their inexperience with attention, quick service and a pleasant attitude. Our tournedos and the surf & turf were both delicious, very well prepared. Good wine list. The restaurant has large rooms, yet a cozy atmosphere, thanks to the decoration and lighting. The espresso was also excellent, something most restaurants do not accomplish.

The café’s atmosphere is truly enchanting, especially during the Christmas season. The festive decorations and open fire create a warm and cozy ambiance that immediately draws you in. It’s the kind of place where you’d expect to enjoy a memorable meal with loved ones. Unfortunately, the dining experience did not match the charm of the surroundings. While my French onion soup was served quickly, it lacked broth entirely, resembling caramelized onions with cheese rather than a proper soup. The mushroom risotto was disappointing as well — dry rice with a single mushroom, raw green onions, and none of the creaminess or richness you’d expect. The burger had a flavorful patty but was served rare, despite being ordered well-done for kids. The fries were overcooked and inedible. The only highlight was my husband’s ribs, which were tender, flavorful, and paired with fresh bread. The service added to the frustration. While the server was polite, she seemed unprepared and unfamiliar with the menu, struggling to explain the specials. The café is worth visiting for its ambiance, but the food and service need significant improvement.

I was very pleasantly surprised with how well decorated the restaurant is, but more importantly how tasty the Burgermeester (mayor) burger was!!

Neat but more informal restaurant with a wide menu, different rooms, and excellent food. Sateh was nice and well seared, world citizen, generous and very tasty...so close and never eaten, that will change.

We enjoy this place quite often, it is warm and cozy and food is yummy.

I ordered the food at least 3 times in a couple of days, from the hotel i am staying nearby, the impression first time was quite full filling because in 4 months i finally tasted some Dutch cuisine, that i still struggle to depict, (a part the sweets), because of the low level of energies, disgracefully induced in this latest period to feed ignorance, while trying to socialize, in any case the food seems a bit expensive compare to the usual, however the quality is pleasing, the chef results capable of developing a good taste in my opinion, for example i rarely eat a steak but i must admit that i enjoyed it, (i use to be vegetarian for diet purposes, developing a hate for the taste of meat). I am a bit scared to visit the restaurant in person, because the "personnel", also said servants, could be hazardous, and act like clowns on a purpose because of an induced culture made of lies, even if i pay, honestly i just want to enjoy the food i pay for, so i would like to avoid thinking about KILLER strategies for those simpletons...such an unreasonable life.

Was invited by my son for lunch. Reception and service/staff skilled and perfect. The food and accompanying wine were excellent. We were perhaps a little too early, there were still a lot of empty tables. Halfway through the place was full. In short, a wonderful experience. I don't know the price my son paid.

We recently had our Christmas party here for circa 100 people. Where to begin, the dinner was a mess with waiting staff and the kitchen mixing up orders etc. My steak was served raw when I had requested medium well and 20 minutes after my colleagues had finished their dinner. Overall, terrible food and service. This place was once decent but has gone downhill in recent times

My girlfriend and I had an incredibly cool evening yesterday. We were warmly welcomed by the hostess. We then got a tour of the restaurant, because we thought the decoration was really GREAT. If you really want to feel Christmas, then Colijn is the place to be. Then enjoy the Cheese Fondue! Hats off, it was so delicious that we had another portion. And to top it all off, we took a photo with Arjen, Colijn's owner. He was very hospitable. He normally doesn't do this. So this was also a first for us. Thank you Arjen and your staff for such a nice evening. Haidy and Margot.

Geweldige zaak met warme inrichting, bekwame, vriendelijke medewerkers en gevarieerde kaart met zeer goede prijs / kwaliteit verhouding. Gratis parkeren in de buurt ook erg prettig. Voor de sfeer en de kwaliteit van het gebodene komen wij zeker snel weer terug!

Met mijn vriendin hier even uit eten geweest na een middag in het Amsterdamse Bos. We komen uit Amsterdam en waren blij verrast dat we hier in Amstelveen nog wél gastvrij worden ontvangen. Na een hartelijk welkom hebben we heerlijk gegeten, de gebruikte producten waren prima van kwaliteit en het restaurant heeft een warme, gezellige sfeer. Mijn spareribs vielen van het bot en voor mijn vriendin (die geen vlees eet) was er ook genoeg keus. Lekker langs gaan dus!

Gisterenavond niet voor het eerst, en niet voor het laatst een ontzettend leuke avond gehad ter ere van het jaarlijkse kerstdiner van ons internationale bedrijf. De keuken, de bediening, de Maitre en de eigenaar hebben een kleine 100 gasten opnieuw echt een mooie avond bezorgd. Nogmaals dank daarvoor. Huiszanger/toetsenist Ricky Daniels was overigens ook in topvorm!

I recently attended an afternoon tea here with a large group, and unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. The tea options were very basic, more like standard supermarket quality. The sandwiches were plain, and the desserts lacked any real quality or creativity. The waitress was kind, but she was young and clearly not experienced enough to handle such a large group effectively. On top of that, we were offered more orange juice after the included round ran out, but no one mentioned it would come at an extra cost, which felt misleading. Overall, it was not a great experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it for group gatherings. There are much better options out there for afternoon tea.

We had a delicious meal. The service was excellent. Even though there were several groups dining, it was not noisy. It was a very successful evening!

Wow!! This was the first time we came to eat here. When you walk in in the evening, in one word wow!! Beautiful ambiance and great service. All the staff were friendly. And the food is sublime! The wine I white, my partner red; both delicious. We will definitely eat there again!!!.. TOP!!!! 10 points!!!!

Heerlijk gegeten! Vooraf de rijkelijk belegde carpaccio, als hoofd de Boneless ribs, dezen waren heel mals. Als dessert de Tiramisu. De tiramisu is niet zo machtig als vaak voorkomt. Voortreffelijk dus! Het personeel is erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam, niks is te veel gevraagd. Kort om, echt een aanrader!

The pasta with prawns is not recommended. The spaghetti floats in a tomato sauce with some vegetables mixed in. What a soup mess.

The employees are all very friendly and accommodating. The food was very good and tasty, the price/performance ratio was completely fine. Went there a total of 3 times in one week of vacation, and that wasn't due to a lack of alternatives.

We came spontaneously from the nearby campsite with 8 people on a Sunday. We were given a very warm welcome and the boss himself took care of our jackets and took them from us. In the restaurant itself we were perfectly served and pampered by the team. Here again a direct greeting to the kitchen. Thank you and we'll be happy to come back 💋💋💋

Op het eten is niets aan te merken . We gingen met een groep van 12 . Onze vader wilde ‘ iets specialers ‘ dan het gebruikelijke eetcafé ( dat vlakbij zit ) De bediening ( twee jonge meiden ) waren zeer ongeïnteresseerd - de uitsmijters op wit brood werden op bruin broom geserveerd - niet de beloofde soep - op de vraag of de kroketten echt wel vegetarisch waren , duurde het antwoord echt 13 minuten - drankjes werden vergeten Was makkelijk op te lossen door een kladblok te gebruiken bij het opnemen van de bestelling Kwalijker was is dat nadat we er iets van gezegd hadden , de dames in de aanval gingen . Het ging hartstikke goed naar hun mening Overigens de oudere vrouw in de bediening was prima .

It is already the third time that the service is below any expectation. While the food has always been great, the waiters are young and possibly inexperienced keep forgetting stuff. But as well no checking with the clients to make sure all is well. We had to call on them several times to remind them that food was not complete or cutlery was missing. It is a pity as it really a nice place with great food.

We had reserved this restaurant online for 18 people, it is close to the Grand Hotel Amstelveen where we had booked 2 nights. We were warmly welcomed in the restaurant and had a glass of champagne with appetizers (which we ordered), then we went to eat. Our 3 course menu was excellent and we can highly recommend the restaurant.

Last night we dined at this Amstelveen restaurant. The exquisite lighting highlighted the pink ceiling floral arrangements. Our party of 7 was easily accommodated in the back dining room. Our server helped accommodate my taste in wine with a bottle of Klosterhof Damherr Kabinet.. We started with bread served with 4 sauces & moved on to small salads. One of our party said the steak tartare was the best he’d ever eaten. Two of us had the salmon served with a delicious sauce and vegetables. We skipped dessert because we had already tasted perfection.

Let me start by saying that the restaurant is definitely worth the 5 stars. But you really need to put the ingredients on the menu better. I looked at the menu online in advance and was almost immediately sold by the canneloni on the menu. This also convinced my husband to call you for dinner. Once in the restaurant, I order the canneloni and indicate that I have a nut and pine nut allergy (many restaurants now add this as standard to a dish, which is why I always mention this). What now turns out to be that there are pine nuts IN the dish?!? I say yes, but you don't have that on your menu. You must mention something that is in the dish and cannot be taken out on the menu. Quite disappointed, I then 'only' ordered a hamburger. Now I have to say that it is one of the better burgers I have eaten and my husband's spare ribs were good too! That is why you also get the 5 stars, but please adjust your menu quickly. I understand that you don't include everything, such as gluten (which is standard in pasta), but pine nuts are not something standard. This is also the first time I have come across a restaurant that puts this in. This also prevents a huge disappointment on site.

Love this place. What a fantastic discovery, a delightful neighbourly restaurant and bar. What makes this place stand out above the rest is the owner Ivan. He made us feel warm and welcome, he is a genuine gentleman. Go out of your way and visit.

We opted for a tasting of starters, mains and desserts. The starters were a tasting of 5 small starters, the main course was 3 bowls that were way too salty and absolutely no tasting downright bad. Desserts were more of a tasting, but not everything was tasty or traditional. In short, the whole thing is a very poor six, there will be no next time.

Birthday celebrated with 50 guests in the form of a walking dinner. Was an absolute success, delicious food.

Cozy atmosphere. Service could be better. We waited 15 minutes for someone to come take our drink order. There was no cocktail. The wrong soup was served, main courses did not arrive. After dinner we were not asked if everything was to our liking. In short, a lot of areas for improvement. Food was nice.

I’m currently sitting at Restaurant Colijn and have been ignored by staff for about an half an hour now. After bringing the drink and the menu, they never came back. The place is pricy so one would expect better service. Definitely not a good gastro experience in Amstelveen so far. Starter, a soup, finally got to me after 40 minutes waiting here, I had to order it twice though 😄 After the soup one of the employees asked me if I want something else like I haven’t had ordered a salad too. Then another pretty long wait time to get the bill. Food was alright but not worth the time spent here.
