As a smoker, you are discriminated against. There is no possibility to smoke, and you are treated poorly if you ask. This came directly from the manager. The hostess was very nice, and that is appreciated. As a smoker and food lover, I do not recommend this restaurant.

Always guaranteed a nice and pleasant dinner. Everything is always… always friendly, always a warm welcome, always personal, always delicious food, always a wonderful time with my family. It is also always nice to see families with multiple generations. We look forward to coming to dine or have lunch with kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids in the future. We were allowed to choose our own spot in the restaurant. We opted for the area at the back. A beautiful, spacious, and cozy section. Starters included a bread board, steak tartare, and onion soup. The onion soup is delicious. The steak tartare was fresh and well prepared. Main course: mussels, salmon fillet, crispy chicken – nothing wrong with that; the salmon fillet was even top-notch! However, the Thai green curry with shrimp was unfortunately a huge disappointment. Taste-wise, it was absolutely not balanced. You couldn't taste the curry, partly due to the amount of coconut. There was truly no flavor or crunch to this dish. We took at most five bites and just ate the shrimp, which were also rather bland, before unfortunately pushing the dish aside. In short, apart from this one dish, a reasonably successful evening. We will give Colijn another chance; hopefully, everything will be to our liking then. By the way, the young waitstaff deserves a compliment; they really do their utmost!!!!

Good restaurant. Nice menu. Tasty food. Friendly service, although sometimes they serve the food first and only then get the cutlery, and giving you a coffee spoon with your dessert isn't exactly practical either. Nevertheless, a good experience in a friendly atmosphere.

In the most beautiful neighborhood of Amstelveen, on the edge of the Amsterdam Forest, you will find an incredibly cozy restaurant. Where experience and friendliness come first. But above all, where the food is a magnificent culinary experience. With beautifully balanced wines and a phenomenal atmosphere that is simply mouthwatering.

Despite the good service and atmosphere, only a meager two stars. You wonder why? Because Colijn cuts corners when it comes to the customer. The satay (€ 22.50) contains 200 grams of meat, and the Colijn Populair 300 grams (€ 28.50). As a bon vivant and big eater, you often quickly opt for the Colijn Populair. You think you have made a good choice. Forget it; the price difference of 6 euros, in particular, is not worth it. At first glance, it looks attractive, with boneless ribs included, but appearances are deceiving. In terms of quantity, it looked just like a children's menu: 2.5 strips of boneless ribs, two small satay skewers, a small bowl of mini-fries, and some mini, disappointing salad. Shameful. With sauce and a side board, it is indeed 300 grams. By the way, I found out outside that this dish used to be the mixed grill: also 300 grams of meat, but back then with a third type of meat added. In short, you are simply being ripped off. Adjust your 300 grams then, or provide the full meal!!! I didn't respond to it immediately myself, because of the atmosphere, but this is simply unacceptable! Advice: If you are hungry, please walk on or order an extra portion of fries, though you will be better off at the snack bar. Furthermore, the prices of the desserts are disproportionate.

Unfortunately, I have to change my review. We booked this restaurant a week in advance because we were expecting friends visiting from other country. We specifically chose this place because I celebrated my birthday here in February, and everything was wonderful then. That is why the changes we experienced during our visit in May were so disappointing. When the waiter asked what we would like to drink, we asked for a drinks menu, but were told that there was no drinks menu. We then asked what was available, and the answer was simply: “Everything.” Later, our guest ordered a cocktail and water, and it suddenly turned out that there actually was a wine and coffee menu after all. To make matters worse, the cocktail didn’t arrive. Near the end of our meal, we finally asked where the cocktail was, and the waiter replied: “I thought you were joking.” The entire evening was overshadowed by a negative impression. To be honest, the service felt careless and uncomfortable throughout the night. It is really unfortunate that we chose this café for such an important meeting with our friends.

The atmosphere inside is very nice. We were with a large group. We had to wait a long time for service, basically the whole evening, and because of that, we didn't order dessert. Eventually, I walked to the bar myself to ask if we could order another round of drinks. One colleague asked for a list of non-alcoholic cocktails but just got the list of regular cocktails, so she ended up getting an alcoholic cocktail. At first glance, the service staff didn't immediately know what non-alcoholic cocktails were either. Unfortunately, I had been looking forward to the cheese fondue, but apparently that is only for the café section? The pepper shrimp was disappointing because it felt like a lot of leeks and cabbage to me, not really what you expect from gambas pil pil. And no salads with the meat main course, just a tiny bit of vegetables. Sorry for writing this review like this, but our experience wasn't great. It could be better if the food surpassed this.

Ended up here by chance on King's Day☀️ and what a surprise.... Lovely terrace, nice atmosphere and we really enjoyed ourselves... The Aperol Spritz and Tripel tasted great with tasty snacks. Cheerful and fast service🙏🏻, there is plenty of staff walking around and you don't have to wait for anything👍🏻.... They pay close attention and regularly check if everything is to our liking. Just a charming and good restaurant where the food is delicious...

We have been regular guests here with the whole family since it opened. Over the years, this has remained our favorite spot. The quality is consistently high, the food is fantastic, and the service is always warm. Highly recommended, and we return with great pleasure every time!

Visited for the 2nd time on April 10th. The 1st time was fine, but this time it was disappointing. Service wasn't very prompt. The long drink glasses for the cola probably still needed to be blown in the factory and never arrived at the table. Had to ask for water twice. Cutlery grubby with stains. There was a sort of water glass, which in my view looked more like an ashtray, also grubby. Salade Niçoise: the plate was mostly filled with hard, large, coarse pieces of lettuce with 2 green beans, 2 cherry tomatoes, 1 radish, 20 olives, baby potatoes, and not very tasty tuna. For convenience, the chef had simply forgotten the egg. Not recommended. And it was freezing, really freezing cold in the conservatory; there was a fireplace, but for the sake of coziness, they had left it out. A shame, because otherwise you would have had a few drinks afterwards. As it was, we drove away at breakneck speed and have never been so happy with the heated seats. Nice restaurant for the summer, but the rest of the year put on four layers of thermal clothing first, then maybe you won't be eating with your coat on and hoping you can leave quickly.

My family and I were staying at the IBIS down the street and stumbled upon this place after the “restaurant” there only had pizza Resturant Colijn was such a great treat. The restaurant itself is beautiful, backs up against a green space and a walking trail. The porn star martini was absolutely delicious and I enjoyed a seasonal bowl of pumpkin soup. My husband had the Cesar salad, that had the MOST delicious chicken and bacon on it. I can’t recommend this place enough to anyone staying nearby to fly out of AMS.

Is this the second time already that we have practically been asked to leave at 10:00 PM? An unfriendly response like: I indicate that we are busy wrapping things up, to which is then said: yes, so we can go home early for once. Excuse me? Then I point out that this is the second time they are acting this way, and they blithely say that they almost never experience being able to close earlier because we, as 9 people at the table, were the last ones left. Then a bill is also brought and placed on the table even though we haven't asked for it yet. The previous time, we were the last ones left again and were told again that they were closing. I would say adjust either your time or your staff. Unfortunately, no more Colijn for us.

We were enjoying some drinks today when our business partner and I saw everything go by. So we decided to stay for dinner. Nice, lively place. We will definitely be back here again.

We had a quick cheese fondue and some side snacks with my daughter before heading to the Ajax match. We walked in on the spur of the moment; the place was packed, but they still found a spot for us. We were served very quickly; the vitello tonnato and carpaccio were delicious. The cheese fondue was also good, although we would have preferred mushrooms instead of nachos. Afterwards, we heard that this was of course possible if we had mentioned it. In short, a good experience in a very pleasant atmosphere, and we will definitely be back!

We ate here with my whole family. The food was delicious. We sat in the bar area. We noticed that there was a drafty door behind us. We mentioned this and it was resolved properly. We were enjoying a lovely lunch break. I placed my order and asked if these sole were fried in butter and as beautiful as the picture. Yes, that's what they look like. The sole arrived looking worse and tasting even worse, fried in oil. We had melted butter, but I had no idea what it was. I didn't try it, the smell was already unpleasant. I walked in and asked the waitstaff: "Yes, it's butter," the management shouted. "No, it's oil." Okay, I went back to the table, finished it, and I'll never eat again. I was with an invited guest and thought I'd keep calm. Then, for dessert, Dame Blanche, I asked again, "Real chocolate, right?" I was told, "Yes, those little chocolate drops." Unfortunately, it was warmed up from a bottle. Unfortunately, I went back inside and was told it was really melted. After, I got a bit angry and, yes, I did get a different chocolate, which was good, but I forgot to change the original ice cream. I asked for new vanilla ice cream without whipped cream, which was also of poor quality. Unfortunately a bad experience and the kitchen does not explain well to the service staff how the food is prepared.

Noisy setting, the Christmas decorations were still there. The staff was very young and inexperienced. Enthusiastic but left to fend for themselves. The food was mediocre. The bread sandwich was tough, the fries and croquettes lukewarm, and different? Vegetarian? "Normally, they should be the same," was the answer. Fortunately, our company was pleasant!

They always have blankets on the chairs, so that speaks volumes... The appetizer took a long time to arrive... And with the fish trio, the toast was cold and soggy; it looked like it came from the refrigerator... The tuna was cold, but tasty. The prime rib was delicious... but not really warm either... The fries were a 10🤩 The Dame Blanch was a bit disappointing: the ice cream was tasteless and the chocolate sauce lacked any chocolate... The waitress was nice, but the young trainee still has a lot to learn... but that's up to the management, they need to guide him... All in all, a good 7 for everything... Next time, maybe in the summer when the weather is a bit warmer.

I knocked over my coffee myself (and pointed that out), but still got a new one on the house. We were seated in the front section of the restaurant. There was a long table hosting a birthday party. It was nice, but quite noisy due to the rather low ceiling. It's better to reserve a table in the back section if you want a bit more peace and quiet. €9.50 for a slice of apple pie with a small scoop of ice cream is a crazy price.

This restaurant is a must for any visitor to the Bovenkerk area. Once again, the hospitality and food were fantastic. Whenever we are staying nearby, we always book a table here and have never been let down. The atmosphere is cosy and very welcoming. We've tried a few things from the menu (Cote de Beuf, Burger, Ribs, Steak, Ceaser Salad) and the quality has always been to an exceptionally high standard. Can't recommend enough. We will definitely be back for another visit when we're in the area.

Just had dinner at Colijn with a friend. It had been on my list for a while after a friend recommended it. We received a friendly welcome and were allowed to hang up our coats. We were even allowed to look around the various rooms. They looked really nice and beautifully decorated, with a roaring fire, lovely flowers, and decorations. The atmosphere is great. However, the service. I understand that it's difficult to find "suitable" staff these days. I personally value hospitality and service, and that's why tonight really bothered me. The staff seemed very young, so I'd like to give them the opportunity to learn from this. However, I did miss someone to share feedback with, so I chose this place. Upon arrival, there was only one table inside. We were seated right next to them. Then another table arrived and also had to sit right next to us. Pretty strange, considering the whole room was still empty. We waited at least 10 minutes for someone to come and take our drinks order. The table next to us was also constantly watching the staff (who were completely preoccupied with packing/setting up things?). They weren't looking at our tables. I've always learned: things stay put, guests leave. We finally just called someone ourselves. When someone arrived with the wine bottle to pour, another colleague shouted at him: "COOLER!" He then shouted back that we only had a glass and no bottle. The food order took a very long time, and we had to call someone ourselves. I ordered the vegan satay. I was very excited that a restaurant actually had it. (The food is presented beautifully and neatly, by the way). I asked the server: "What is the satay made of?" "I don't know." They looked at me with laughter. "Um, yeah, I just think it's really nice that you serve it because I don't normally see it." B: shrugged. Laughing: "Grass or something" and walked away. I was stunned and asked if the kitchen staff could check. As a vegetarian, I felt quite foolish. The table wasn't cleaned, and we ended up putting dirty placemats and empty glasses on another table ourselves so they could take them away. Several servers asked the same question in quick succession, and the list goes on. I understand that everyone has the opportunity to learn, and that this lack of knowledge is probably related to age. However, I would strongly advise them to invest in this or appoint an experienced floor manager to guide and direct the staff, because for me personally, this was a real disappointment, even though the restaurant is truly beautiful and the food is excellent. For €60 per person, I expect a little more.

The service was unfriendly. The wine was good, but very little per glass. When one of us commented on this, it was snatched away. Later, it was returned with the comment that they had to get seven glasses from a bottle. If that's what you have to rely on... This was the third time I've eaten here, but we won't be back anytime soon.

I had mixed feelings about my meal at Colijn. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the price-quality ratio is generally good. Unfortunately, the service left something to be desired: for example, the plates were placed on the table in a pile without explanation, which didn't seem very hospitable. We ordered the fish platter, which listed calamari as an item. However, it turned out to be missing, and no replacement or explanation was offered. This was a shame and gave the whole thing a sloppy impression. The food itself was otherwise fine, but the poor service and the missing promised items left me feeling somewhat disappointed. I subsequently left a review and received a very comprehensive and accurate response to my review very quickly. It's clear that Colijn takes feedback seriously, and I really appreciate that. Mistakes can always happen, of course, but it's how they handle them that makes the difference – and they did. We'll be back soon!

Third time visiting the restaurant. Always try to arrange a meal when on a work trip from Canada. Professional, attentive and courteous staff. Love the steak tartare. Food is always good. When travelling in the Netherlands again, I will make a point of returning for a fourth time.

Delicious food and friendly service

We have eaten at Colijn so often in the past few years and everything was always TOP! Recently had a birthday party here. We made an appointment in advance with the owner, Arjan Roosen, who thought along with us very well and discussed everything with us down to the last detail. Even though the party was held in the afternoon, we could still - unlike other restaurants - choose a "Walking Dinner", preceded by delicious snacks (large crispy shrimps, Burgundian bitterballen and marinated chicken). Our guests could choose again and again to sit or stand at a table, or to move freely through the room to have a chat with everyone. Hats off to the lovely service, including the youngest who do this in addition to school. They have made a huge effort for all those hours - also before and after - and were always friendly and professional: real hostesses. They had decorated the room in an attractive way and provided the tables with flowers, nuts and olives; the standing tables were even provided with white tablecloths. No one had to stand "dry" and everything was cleared away unnoticed. The dishes of the chefs were delicious. All our guests and ourselves were full of praise for the whole and visibly enjoyed everything. Thank you very much, dear people! We will gladly come back here soon.

We enjoyed a great group dinner at Colijn. Arjan, our host, was highly accommodating and flexible, going the extra mile to welcome our Ukrainian guests. The food was excellent, and the service was both friendly and efficient. We look forward to coming back in the future.

Great location and delicious food

How bad this was. During corona times and before, Colijn was really good, but today we had dinner and it was really bad. Capriccio was split very thin, pasta with prawns was inedible, it looked like teenagers made it (too much salt, raw onion, raw zucchini, no pasta but noodles, prawns were raw. And we saw the apple pie, it looked like it came from Albert Heijn. Paying too much, unfortunately I ate almost nothing, and my husband was so hungry but got a stomach ache afterwards. No more Colijn.

The location and decoration of the restaurant are excellent. But that's where the passing grades end. To eat: Main courses are too expensive compared to what you get for them. You often have to order fries and vegetables separately. Desserts: ready-made from wholesale. Service: Lousy. Everyone ordered fries with the main course. They come along when everyone has finished eating. And then unashamedly putting it down without asking if anyone actually still wants it. And simply charge the full pound on the bill. Some had coffee and others had desserts. The desserts came first and the guests who had ordered coffee only came after the desserts were already gone. Conclusion. We ate something but otherwise wasted money. So we will pass by Colijn from now on.

Nice atmosphere, food was tasty but I was disappointed with espresso. You should improve it as it has not taste (it was a small black liquid without an aroma) you should replace your beans and adjust the grinder.

Nice tent in terms of interior, Only the food is substandard, a lot of money for little food. Mini bowl of vegetables, max 1 bite, I'm talking about no, not an exaggeration. Few fries or no vegetables or fries at all, or anything else that is extra in addition to a dish of 25-28 euros! You only get a piece of fish with a dollop of pumpkin puree. With the spareribs, 1 bite of coleslaw and a child's portion of fries for 25 euros! Saw that after the satay you also have to eat 3 sandwiches at home to feel full. Desserts are also expensive: 10 euros for 1 scoop of ice cream with a mini cake, which is outrageous. Starters also way too pricey. It's better to go to silver sand, pay 7 euros less and get double the price. Too bad, the tent itself is nice, but it means filling the owner's pockets and going home hungry.

Went there for Valentine's Day , great atmosphere , fireplace live entertainment. Great service . Food decent but could be better , good portion sizes . If you are a sensitive person then the live entertainment might be too much , you can then go to another area . There were some young kids for a 4 course menu so kids ate like in 5 mins and had to wait for parents so they were crying and stuff , may bother some people , not restaurants fault . Parking full close by but you can find just have to walk a few minutes. So summary worth trying

Het vlees was taai en ook koud, niet de kwaliteit die je verwacht van dit gerecht. De manager nam onze feedback niet echt serieus. Jammer, want onze ervaring is hiermee echt negatief beïnvloed. Ik hoop dat jullie er toch nog iets mee doen voor andere gasten.

We had a very nice dinner yesterday. The waiting staff compensate their inexperience with attention, quick service and a pleasant attitude. Our tournedos and the surf & turf were both delicious, very well prepared. Good wine list. The restaurant has large rooms, yet a cozy atmosphere, thanks to the decoration and lighting. The espresso was also excellent, something most restaurants do not accomplish.

Good food, reasonable prices and nice staff.

Neat but more informal restaurant with a wide menu, different rooms, and excellent food. Sateh was nice and well seared, world citizen, generous and very tasty...so close and never eaten, that will change.

I was very pleasantly surprised with how well decorated the restaurant is, but more importantly how tasty the Burgermeester (mayor) burger was!!
