The food was ridiculously expensive and took forever. The service was incredibly rude and completely incomprehensible. I was eating here with a group of friends, and they didn't understand a thing. Drink rounds also took at least half an hour. It was expensive and unsociable.

Great place. Edit: Unfortunately, with all the changes in management and staff, it's not as enjoyable anymore. The bar closes early because people aren't in the mood, the service is disinterested, and the tequila selection has shrunk.

Went on a Saturday & we did reserve a table. Atmosphere is great. Energetic but cosy. Fun music, fun lighting and you can still understand eachother clearly even if it's busy. Didn't see any mice 🤭 Service was alright though we did get asked multiple times if we wanted to order when we already did but I suppose that's better than getting ignored lol The food... well, at least for Saturday evening you are definitely paying more for the atmosphere. The frozen daiquiri was more of a frozen appletini. Still tasted good though. The tacos are very small (even for tortilla standards) so don't get these if you want a meal. It was more of a bite. Both the pork of the el pastor and the shrimp were very dry. We even ordered quesadillas after sharing fries and having our tacos because we were still hungry. I did enjoy the barbacoa quesadillas more than the tacos. I also do recommend the chili cheese fries, those were probably the highlight 🫢 For the prices however... well, I guess it's what to be expected of the city but 13€ for small tacos was painful.

Very nice bar, good food and drinks, really a shame that they already say at 10 pm that the bar is closed while they are open until midnight.

We had made a reservation but arrived way too early, but that wasn't a problem. It quickly became very busy for a Wednesday. The two girls serving were very friendly. The kitchen looked clean, and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back.

It looks like a really nice place, the staff is friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, although it gave me an upset stomach for several days. Also, they have mice that seem very comfortable around the customers. And they were even walking under the chairs, where they keep the beer bottles! It's a very nice place, but there are things that could be improved.

Can confirm with the other reviews. Place is infested with mice. Once there were less people at the tables left, the mice started to appear. They seemed very comfortable too when I was trying to shoo them away. Also what kind of restaurants deposits boxes with beer bottles and drink bottles in general under the seats? Noticed that when the mice were running on the floor and and under the tables. Overall the service was good, it's definitely too expensive though. My partner probably got a bit of Jerry's touch in her burrito, she got sick the next day.

A charming little place that can't live up to its looks in terms of food and service. The waitstaff isn't sharp, tables remain uncleared, and empty plates are left standing even though they do come to our table. We ordered a bottle of water twice, which was on the bill but never arrived. And when we finished our meal, a mouse scurried through the restaurant under our feet. Lucy Lou has her work cut out for her!

Food is quite good, not the most traditonal mexican food but it passes. The sauces are awsome and they do make a killer Margherita!

The atmosphere inside is cozy, and the service was excellent. But the food is definitely not authentic Mexican. Carrots and peas in a burrito? A salad with popcorn? It's also a shame that the (cheaper) drinks and soft drinks aren't on the menu. All in all, it's an okay place, but it lacks the wow factor. I might come back for a drink, but not for more.

Nice and cozy, I had the most insane tacos ever. I’d say they have fair pricing, and tbh I can’t believe they have a lower rating than salsa shop. You want good Mexican food? Come here, they deserve it.

What a great place! Great find, good tacos, service could have been a bit better, but the food did arrive quickly! The restaurant's appearance makes you feel like you're stepping into Mexico. I just missed the beach and the sun... I left the restaurant and it started raining, which wasn't so great. All in all, a great evening!

Strange that a restaurant on a Friday night stops serving food at 21:30. Had this experience this week and last week on a Friday & Saturday night(wk 35 & 36) . Considering there are limited Mexican restaurants in Utrecht this rather disappointing. Last week they stopped serving due to a staff party and this week they provided no reason as to why. Other restaurants in Utrecht serve till 22:00-23:00.

Nothing extraordinary, typical commonly known Mexican food like tacos. I found the prices a bit high.

Don’t go here. The place is invested with mice! We were halfway through our dinner and saw the mice running near our feet. Lost our appetite and didn’t want to toch the food that just came to our table anymore .. if there are that many I certainly believe they are in the kitchen too. We told the waitress that we didn’t want to eat anymore because of the mice. She only apologized and asked if we wanted to take the food in goodie bags. Because we were stressed we said yes, should have said no. No compensation, paid the full price! Never going there again.

Can‘t recommend at all. They almost had no cocktails that were on the menu, portions are super small and way to expensive. Nachos were to dry and guacamole not good at all. We even saw four mice on the floor, but apparently there is nothing that can be done about it, as they told us. Really bad customer service as well.

Op de kaart staat dat ze glutenvrije opties hebben, maar er zijn maar 2 keuzes zonder risico op kruisbesmetting. Alle andere keuzes op de kaart hebben altijd kruisbesmetting. Daarom hebben we hier niet gegeten en zijn we ergens anders geweest. Bediende heeft er ons wel goed op gewezen en begreep onze keuze om ergens anders naartoe te gaan.

Super leuke sfeervolle plek. Erg attent personeel en een grote variatie aan tequila en mezcal, personeel wist hier veel over te vertellen!

Went with a group of 5 and all of our food came out at different times. One order was wrong so had to be remade. We got charged for the wrong order as well as the right one even though we didn’t get to keep the food. We ordered dessert, waited 20 minutes, and they had forgotten about the order.

Nachos to share as a starter and both a different burrito, one with chicken and one with beef. There was no room left for dessert :) Until next time!

Came here on a very busy Saturday with my family while visiting utrecht. The service was wonderful and the waitress was very friendly and spoke fluent English. Very attentive. I got the pork tacos and my dad got the beef burrito and tequila shots with beer. Everything was wonderful, 100% recommend.

One of our drinks had a mosquito in it. It was quickly replaced by the helpful staff only for us to realise that the drink quantity had been reduced. This was also addressed by them after we raised it. We later realised that our other drinks were also served in reduced quantity compared to other patrons with the same drinks. We did not flag this last element to the staff. Finished our drinks and left right away.

We went there with a group of friends and we ate chicken kinds but like we felt like they are getting their meat from Jumbo or AH or something it is not nice at all and our friend made the reservation and he said sorry like it was not like this before, but we agreed that we won’t go there again

I am giving this review because of the food, there was really a little hope in me and I didn't want to believe the reviews but the food has been so, so bad that I don't want to think about the red room that I have tried, the quesadilla didn't even have cheese, the tacos are a joke, super small and cold and above all I didn't like that they put pickles on the barbecue..... It really can't be called a Mexican restaurant if they are not respecting the flavors of Mexico.

Really tasty food. A bit expensive for the portion size. But it was real Mexican food. Staff is friendly. But the place is in desperate need of a deep clean. Clean the walls and display bottles in the first area. Remove the boxes and clean the tables and lights!

People and overall ambience is fine, however the food is horrible. Went for the tacos that were made likely the day before. The meat was dry and hard. Overall taste bellow average and don’t recommend. However the drinks are quite decent.

I came in here spontaneously on a Tuesday afternoon. Both waitresses were super friendly and welcoming. My meal also came quickly and tasted great! So I'll definitely go back here!

The food was inconsistently tasty. My girlfriend had tasty veggie tostadas, but my beef tacos were not tasty. It was more of a soup with tacos thrown in it. Service was just bad. We were forgotten as we sat right in front of the kitchen. We received our drinks 45 minutes after arrival. And my food order was gone while my friend had her food for 10 minutes. Staff were often chatting at the bar so everything was quite frustrating. Atmosphere is fine, but could be a lot cleaner (lots of plaque, dust).

De inrichting vonden wij erg leuk. Personeel is heel aardig en snel. De taco's en enchiladas waren goed op smaak. Cocktails waren ook goed. We zijn in Mexico geweest en het kwam zowaar redelijk overeen. Leuk restaurant om een hapje te eten, voor echt lang tafelen is dit niet de perfecte plek.

Phenomenal atmosphere and dining experience, but personally the food felt underwhelming, especially the portions. I ordered the birria tacos and while extremely flavorful and delicious, they were absolutely tiny and not worth their cost (€14). have no doubt that it’s expensive to make them, especially here, but I would personally pay more upfront just to be full at the end of a meal; With these tacos I wasn’t. I don’t think it’s even about the pure grams of food given, but the tiny-ness of the presentation. If they had just used a bigger tortilla with the same amount of filling, it would’ve felt more justified than it is now, but they didn’t and it showed. The other costumers also seemed to have small portions, which is sad given the inherent abundance of food that Mexico is famous for. Like I said though, the taste was phenomenal and brought me back home, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for some decent spice. Just make sure to sit in the back near the kitchen, because sitting in the front is very tight and annoying with the door and new costumers.

Food was so salty . It was unbearable to eat. The birria tacos and quesadillas were very soggy.

The food itself is tasty. But the portions were incredibly small and quite pricey. If you spend €60 for two people on food alone and you leave hungry, that's not right. Moreover, many ingredients were not or hardly present. Yes, 1 bean was crying lonely among the nachos. Lettuce with main course is missing. Nice the different colored nachos. In addition, literally screaming music from the speakers accompanied by barking service. Dirty menus, tables and glasses. Cheaper drinks are not indicated anywhere. We waited 30 minutes until we could finally order and 4 tables that came in later were served earlier and we skipped it until we took action ourselves. And got sick!! No, this was once but never again.

Super nice atmosphere and delicious food! Perfect for a date, because you have some loose booths with a separation between them and special food that you can discover together. Tasty cocktails. No entienden la idea de "vegano". Nos dieron crema con nuestras comidas y cuando preguntamos si era lácteo nos dijeron que lo era y se lo llevaron sin traer otra cosa. La comida era normal y demasiado caro por su calidad. ¿La botella de agua era asquerosa, estaba llena de sobras de comida / fruta? Lástima que nos dimos cuenta de esto después de terminar el agua. Más tarde di esta opinión por correo, pero no se molestaron en reaccionar a eso, así que ahora tienen una opinión pública. P. s. Anuncian con "sudamericano" calle - comida pero también dicen y muestran que es "mexicano". Para la gente que no lo sabía, México es parte de América del Norte.

Not recommended. Management is not attentive. The bottles of salsa/habanero were not clean. And you don't have to come for the food. I had a salad with chicken. This was mediocre, but there was so much red onion in it that it looked more like a red onion salad than anything else. When it was brought to the attention of management, nothing was done about it. 'That's a lot of onion, I'll pass it on to the kitchen.' You eat better at the neighbors!

Honest opinion... the food was nice... But the service not good at all... They took too long in bringing the drinks that we finished our food before the drinks... Then we order a snack to have with late drinks, and the snack we order never came... We decided to just ask for the bill... It seem they forgot to order the snack... For me they dont even care for the customers, the place is always full... As a latin american i havent seen many other mexican places in utrecht... Maybe that is why it might be always full and that they dont even care for bad reviews... It would be soo much better if they would improve the service... Gladly i know and i can cook mexican food at home so i dont need to go there again...

Food is okay, price/quality too. However, poor service. I ordered a salad with avocado, they just forgot the avocado. After indicating this, I received a salad with guacamole, which I think was something completely different, and not really tasty with a salad. As a result, I left half of it, but nothing was asked about this when I picked it up. In addition, no allergen card (which is mandatory). The interior is nicely decorated, but there are certainly better Mexican restaurants in Utrecht.

The restaurant itself is very cosy. The atmosphere is definitely there and I can absolutely see the vision. But, - The price/quality is very unbalanced. The food is fine, but nothing special. - Took pretty long for our drinks to get served - Some food got serverd way before other food arrived, which sorry, that's just not done. - Our nachos were already almost cold when they got served - Our water pitcher was dirty, asked for a new one and that one was also not clean. Neither was the cutlery that was on the table. - There was gum under our table, which looked like it had been there a while - The plant on our table was very withered and the water was very dirty, including some drowned flies. And there's some other minor points. So I do think if they take a little more time to polish their service this place could be something worth visiting more than once.

We were at Lucy Lou for the first time and enjoyed it so much! First of all, the staff was super friendly and helpful in explaining the menu, and very friendly. We had a delicious meal, shared several tacos and enquesadillas. Highly recommended. The cocktails were delicious, much stronger than other places in Utrecht. Excellent price-quality ratio! Definitely recommended to visit!

Super nice restaurant with good service! I have quite a few allergies and they were very well taken into account. The dishes we ordered were super tasty and the service was friendly and pleasant. We will definitely come back!

As a Mexican Im very critical about Mexican food, the flavors were great, the meat for barbacoa and birria was perfect but the ingredients for the tacos were a little bit off. Barbacoa usually has onion and cilantro in this case it had cabbage and carrots but then again the meat was really good. TLDR Not a 100% Authentic but good meat flavor to compensate.

An inviting bar with less inviting food. For the price you get small portions. They use this dreadful sauce like cat food. The service is slow. What a horrible experience.

The Al pastor tacos were not mexican at all. The birria tacos were better but they still tasted to this spice that they put into every Netherlands food. Very overpriced. If you’re Mexican like me you will have a very disappointing experience.

El ambiente era muy fresco y muy agradable para la noche de citas, un buen lugar para ir con amigos. El servicio era bueno. Las bebidas y la comida estaban por debajo de la media, un poco caro para la comida callejera y no muy buena calidad.

I was very pleased with the service, the staff was friendly and attentive. That said, the food was "mid," as the kids say. Not terrible, but not great. I would personally not feel a compulsion to return.

We ordered churros and it was not fried enough, it was doughy inside and the price was high for the portion.

The food was tasty, but we didn't have such a friendly waitress. Also the restaurant was open but it was quite dark. They tried to solve this with small lights, but that was not the case good enough. Later when I had some churros the ice was gone. They tried to solve this with strawberry sorbet, but it was not that tasty. Nice tent where not everything goes perfectly, but they always try to find a solution.

Small Mexican place close to the central train station of Utrecht. Their drinks are definitely worth it and the service is fast and polite. The food is tasty and very filling, with quite some variety of Mexican food. Must try the spicy margaritas.

The atmosphere, service and drinks are top notch here. The food was just a bit disappointing. The restaurant is nicely decorated, as you would expect from an average Mexican restaurant. We ordered our dishes in two rounds, so that they wouldn't all be cold. Unfortunately that went wrong and we got everything at once. Not a major disaster, but we did ask for it. The nachos were fine, but cooled down quickly. The empanadas lacked some flavor, just like the quesadilla (which also contained quite little cheese). The corn ribs were tasty and the star of the show in my opinion were the jalapeño poppers. Nice and crispy and both creamy and spicy. Finally, we had the Don Julio añejo tequila. That was fantastic. Pricey, but very mild in taste.

After waiting 45 minutes for our drink, we asked where it was, the gentleman who said you know or sorry, there were too few glasses, that's why you don't have it yet, after waiting 1 hour we finally got our drink, we deliberately asked if our food would be available. it came through okay and the doctor also arrives, the gentleman says yes, that's coming, waiting for 2 hours and still no food, the gentleman suddenly comes and says oh yes, he didn't get through well after all, then he still wanted it quickly passed it on for us, but after waiting 2 hours and not having had anything and a waiter who lied, we didn't need anything anymore so we left

Worst tacos I have ever had. Dry meat in both Barbacoa and el pastor, cold tacos, and the nachos had a too vinegary salsa. The service was also non existent. If you’re looking for mexican food, look elsewhere.
