Maggie Blue in Lage Zijde

Beautiful restaurant; we had a 6-course menu for 49 euros (introductory price), and that was really cheap for everything we got. Generous portions, unique dishes with nice flavor combinations, and beautifully presented plates. There was probably a vegetarian option, but it wasn't listed on the 6-course menu. The service was very friendly and attentive. Dishes arrived quickly, sometimes a little too quickly one after the other, but that wasn't a problem. I would love to come back.

A really nice and cozy place and a beautiful terrace with an amazing view! The food and drinks are truly delicious; I had Vegan Rendang there and it was really tasty. And the second time I went, I had a delicious coffee with a Red Velvet pastry and enjoyed it on the terrace! It looks stunning inside too! The staff there are very friendly and you are warmly welcomed! Maggie Bleu is the place to be!!

Maggie's experience: a 3-course shared platter for €39.50 per person. The concept is brilliant, delicious, and more than enough for a diverse group. The quality of the food is excellent. The service is knowledgeable about their products and is friendly, knowledgeable, and fast. You really have to experience it for yourself.

Hot chocolate was lukewarm. Lots of whipped cream and very little chocolate. Cappuccino was lukewarm. Snacks were lukewarm. Pastries were tasteless. Nojito was mainly ice cream with very little filling. Typical of much of the Dutch hospitality industry: little, poor quality, and expensive.

First of all, the service is friendly and goes above and beyond. I chose a vegan bapou but was given a duck bapou. Because I assume I'll get what I order, I took a bite and immediately noticed it wasn't vegan. Giving a free coffee after making such a huge mistake? As a manager, I find it incredibly stingy. What would you do if someone had an allergy and you accidentally gave it to them? Would you also give a free coffee to make up for it? This doesn't retain customers. I think the solution is disproportionate to the mistake. We eat at your restaurant very often, and if we have positive things to say about a restaurant, we spread the word. But if something isn't good, we need to say so. This isn't due to the waitress's customer service, which was present. Slow, disgusting, and raw—the food took ages to arrive (an hour for the starter) and was downright disgusting. The main courses consisted of shrimp gyozas and ribeye. Both were served incredibly raw. The gyozas even had raw shrimp ooze, but when we pointed this out, we were told that "that's just how they were served." The spinach salad was incredibly salty and dripping with oil. When we took the bill, the waitress pointed out that we weren't the only table with complaints. Such a shame; we won't be returning.

I recently returned home and what a wonderful evening I spent at this restaurant. The food was delicious, each dish was carefully described by the fantastic waitress, and the dessert the waiter recommended was a perfect choice. I've been here twice and will definitely return, because there's still so much to discover.

We booked a baby shower and high tea at Maggie Blue because the information and flyer looked promising. We paid €50 (besides the food) for table decorations. Then, when we arrived, they had placed four helium balloons on the table, some baby-themed cardboard figures that you can buy at TEMU for €5, and not to mention the food! Serving roast beef sandwiches at a baby shower! It also took a really long time for everything to arrive. The table really didn't look as inviting as the misleading flyers made it out to be. I missed tiered cake stands with small snacks on them, a nice tablecloth, or maybe some nice paper coasters, with more balloons on and around the table. It was more effort for the money they were asking for. All in all, I would NOT recommend ANYONE to have a high tea or baby shower at Maggie Blue. They could have better spent that money on the barista. We feel ripped off!!

Fijne avond bij Maggie Blue Gisteravond heb ik genoten van een heerlijke avond bij Maggie Blue, en wil graag mijn ervaring delen. We hadden een mooi plekje in de serre aan het raam, wat direct bijdroeg aan de prettige ambiance. De setting was warm en gezellig, perfect voor een ontspannen avond uit. De bediening was uitstekend. Onze serveerster was vriendelijk en attent - ze was er wanneer we haar nodig hadden zonder opdringerig over te komen. Dit maakte de service persoonlijk en aangenaam. Als voorgerecht kozen we voor een share plate, wat een goede keuze bleek te zijn. Het bood ons de mogelijkheid om verschillende gerechten van de kaart te proeven en gaf een mooi beeld van wat de keuken kan. Alles was erg smakelijk. De wijn paste goed bij onze gerechten en het hoofdgerecht was eveneens zeer geslaagd. Wat de avond bijzonder maakte was vooral de fijne sfeer. Maggie Blue heeft die prettige combinatie van gezelligheid en warmte die een diner net wat specialer maakt. Voor wie op zoek is naar een restaurant met lekker eten, goede service en een aangename sfeer, is Maggie Blue zeker een aanrader. Ik kom graag nog eens terug.

The wine paired well with our dishes and the main course was also very successful. What made the evening special was the pleasant atmosphere. Maggie Blue has that pleasant combination of coziness and warmth that makes a dinner just that little bit more special. For those looking for a restaurant with good food, good service and a pleasant atmosphere, Maggie Blue is definitely recommended. I would love to come back again.

This is my favorite restaurant because of the great atmosphere and the good food. But my rating has been significantly lowered by the service. The waiters don't care about the warm atmosphere and aren't interested in the guests. If the service were better, it would be much better. Every time I go to this restaurant, it's the same—that is, a lack of interest from the staff.

Made a late reservation. 8 p.m., and the choice was excellent, as the courses arrived quickly and at the right temperature. Portions were just right, and the combinations were delicious. Met gezin uit eten geweest hier. Bediening is ok. Biefstuk was goed. Zat erg weinig groente bij. Zeebaars was ok. Er zat alleen verder niets bij!!! Erg karig allemaal. Friet moet je erbij bestellen. Portie is erg weinig. Dessert smaakte op zich goed maar de porties zijn heel erg klein en dat voor €9,50 Klein glaasje wijn €6,=! Al met al is het erg duur en krijg je weinig te eten.

This afternoon we had a super well-cared for high tea at Maggie Blue during a baby shower. I myself have a milk and gluten allergy, this was no problem at all, all dishes were adapted. Really SUPER tasty!! Recommended!!

It's way too busy and takes too long some days before you get a spot. You can't easily sit at the bar. The non-alcoholic cocktails don't taste good either.

Prima locatie voor een lunch in Alphen. De menukaart is niet heel uitgebreid maar voldoende keuze met bijv. zalm of carpaccio broodjes. Bediening was aardig, drankjes duurde wel wat lang ondanks dat het rustig was. Eten was op smaak, de koffie is erg lekker. Algehele indruk is wel echt minder geworden t.o.v. aantal jaar terug. Het was binnen overal viezig, het stonk enorm naar sigaretten bij de ingang (beide misschien door het feestje op zaterdag…), veel spinnenwebben en plakkerige tafels/kaarsjes. Het mag wel weer een likje verf en een goede schoonmaakbeurt gebruiken, dan is het geheel weer wat aangenamer om te zitten.

Het gaat er niet op vooruit bij Maggie Blue. Het zou de mooiste en beste tent van Alphen aan den Rijn kunnen zijn. Er is veel wisseling qua personeel, ze zijn niet persoonlijk maar zeer afstandelijk en bovenal wat brutaal! De kwaliteit van het eten gaat er alles behalve op vooruit, we hadden verschillende gerechtjes om te delen. We vonden veel gerechten smaakloos en de porties zeer karig tegen een relatief hoge prijs, terwijl wij afgegaan zijn op de nieuwe menukaart en nieuwe chef, deze slaat eveneens de vorige chef wederom volledig de plank mis. De toiletten waren niet fris en vereisen onderhoud. Voor ons de laatste keer dat wij bij Maggie Blue zijn geweest, troosteloos... Een ander woord heb ik er helaas niet voor!

Me and my girlfriend always eat at the bears next to Maggie Blue, we always get nachos there which we both really like. When we came here we had to wait 40 minutes for the nachos to arrive. Once we got the nachos it was super hard and then super soggy. The cheese was burnt and tasted like plastic. She called it “not normal” nachos, well we noticed. It was so disgusting that we just couldn't eat it anymore. You couldn't easily grab a nacho, they broke off into small pieces and then they stuck together like melted plastic and you just couldn't get it loose. We paid 14 euros for this! We liked the wine, but that is also the case with the bears and they also have tasty nachos there. Last time I come here.

This place does not even deserve one star. They charged drinks from other tables to our table, and didn’t even say anything until we paid the bill and we figured it out. The food is below average, and the service is laughable. The waitress could not figure out how to get our sharing starters before our main meal. How this place remains open it’s beyond me.

Location is very pleasant, near the water next to the market. Service is downright worthless. Made contact with the waitress twice (apparently not) and no response. She literally serves the table next to us, sees no glasses and still doesn't stop by. This is not your job! Finally I called to ask if I couldn't order, luckily another waitress came very quickly. Finally the order but guess what; after 15 minutes still no drink. Now don't let an iced tea be the most special thing they can bring. Gave up hope here and never again. Worthless.

We were planning to visit Koeien, which on their website, for Saturday night, said they closed st 12am, kitchen 10pm. Our GPS steared us a little wrong, delaying our arrival to 9:35. We were told they closed 30 minutes earlier. Maggie Blue was across the walkway. Their kitchen also closed at 10pm, and being that it wasn't 10pm, they seated us, we ordered, and got service. Our first server, Isabella, was super nice and accommodating. She was taken off table service and put behind the bar. Our second server, very kind, couldn't understand why we were there, but nonetheless talked with us and seemed friendly. For some reason she never came back and a blonde guy finished our night. He seemed annoyed with us from the time he walked up. He barely checked on us, not impressed. Had Isabella and the nameless redhead who had previously worked in Canada not served us our service rating would be MUCH lower. The food was delicious. Steak, cooked just right, moist salmon, everything was good, however we don't recommend the tempeh. The beers are small, maybe just go for the Halve Heineken. Lol No water provided, like every place we've dined in Europe so far. Good food. We recommend it

Was there for a gender reveal ceremony, the atmosphere and the people were very nice. but the food... it was supposed to be a kind of high tea, but everyone looked at each other to see who could take what because it was minimal.

Maggie Blue is altijd een leuk idee om heen te gaan! Lekker eten, lekkere drankjes, leuke muziek enz. Als we een avondje uit willen, dan kiezen wij tegenwoordig maar wat graag voor Maggie Blue!

A club sandwich with very thin supermarket chicken and slices of bacon and egg with lettuce is very poor for €14.50. I have eaten much better ones with better toppings, including browney and downies. Too bad, really not recommended.

We had my niece's baby shower. Nice place. Everything that was put on the table tasted good. The lava cakes were heated a little too long, so without sauce. Shame

Vre-se-lijk! Brutale bediening, werden geholpen door een vriendelijke jongen deze avond. Na een vraag waar hij geen antwoord op te reageren kwam er een klein meisje aan tafel wat zich voorstelde als de manager. Ze kwam niet erg geloofwaardig over. Vervolgens heeft zij de bestelling aangenomen inclusief allergieën. Toen het eten werd geserveerd hebben wij gevraagd of er 100% zeker rekening was gehouden met de coeliakie en koemelk allergie omdat wij twijfelden, waarop het meisje volmondig ja heeft gezegd, daarbij komt nog dat het eten smaakloos, vet en niet vers smaakte. Uiteindelijk bleek dit niet zo te zijn en ben ik bij de huisartsenpost beland. Na eerder mails die ik heb verzonden aan Maggie Blue en het uitblijven van een reactie heb ik besloten om toch een review hier te posten en andere mensen te waarschuwen. Voor ons dus de laatste keer Maggie Blue. De zaak heeft een perfecte uitstraling maar laat de laatste jaren veel steken vallen.

Before dining, I indicated if the food was not tasty? Could it be exchanged for something else, but according to the waiter that was not possible. That's why I didn't indicate that it really wasn't edible. But I really can't leave it at that because this is eating away at me. I had dinner on the evening of March 25, 2024. In the hope and expectation of compensation, I also sent a personal email to Maggie Blue.

De bediening was zeer traag. 2 koffie en een thee duurde zo’n dertig minuten. Verse Jus was niet voorradig. De beef tataki salade was ronduit slecht, de beef was echt ijskoud en grijs van kleur. De broodjes met buikspek waren verschrikkelijk. Mijn vriend is zelfs ziek geworden van het eten. Verder troosteloze koude bedoening met een vaasje bloemen die al een week geleden weg hadden gemoeten. Kortom echt schandalig en ik zou een ieder aanraden deze zaak lekker over te slaan.

Yesterday we had another delicious meal and invited my parents. They also thought this was a very nice experience. We were able to taste almost everything on the menu in 3 rounds. Very poor service, we had to ask to clear and clean the table from previous visitors, ask where our drink was (while it was really quiet), all in all there seemed to be little attention for us. We wanted to pay with a gift voucher, but because we had more credit, that was not possible. What's the problem? If necessary, write out a new receipt with the remaining amount, right? The food was okay, but in my opinion the service scored very poorly.

We were served immediately with the menu and the drinks came quite quickly. The operation is also nothing wrong with it. We were often asked whether we still had enough or wanted something else to drink. The food was tasty too. We had three rounds of different dishes, and that was enough for 3 people. The food was delicious. Dessert was also tasty. So we were there during a discount moment. If that discount moment had not existed, we would probably have paid 190 euros for 3 people. That's kind of bizarre. All in all a nice experience but not one to repeat.

This restaurant has a unique approach to gastronomy: they make you guess which ingredient is missing to make the dish edible. The waiter had apparently taken a course in avoiding eye contact, and the atmosphere reminded me of a waiting area for a boring dentist appointment. If you want to wonder where your tax dollars go (hint: not to this restaurant), this is the place.

This restaurant made my taste buds sad and my wallet angry. The food seemed to come straight out of a botched cooking experiment, and the waiter had probably taken a course in ignoring customers. If you like masochism, definitely eat here.

Delicious food for a great price.

Voor het eerst in dit restaurant en bij binnenkomst werden we wat overweldigd door de herrie. Er wad kennelijk ook een bedrijfsfeestje. Gelukkig was ons tafeltje in het rustigere zijgedeelte. Wij kozen voor de chefs choice van gerechten en hebben daar geen spijt van gehad. Heerlijke kleine gerechten om te delen. Veel verschillende smaaksensaties. Vanwege de drukte kwamen ze excuses maken dat het wat langer kon duren tussen de gerechten, maar dat kwam prima uit. Uiteindelijk nog een drankje van de zaak gekregen. Het personeel is echt geweldig. Altijd vriendelijk, zorgzaam en met een lach op het gezicht. Één kleine tip. Haal de messen een keer door de slijper. Het gerecht met rundvlees was nauwelijks te snijden hoewel het in de mond simpelweg smolt.

Had dinner with family: unfortunately very bad experience.. shared dining, received 4x dishes, 50 minutes (!) between each dish. No special dishes. After asking if it was to our liking, making a comment about a dish, we received a sarcastic answer, which is a shame. After a long wait for the main course, I asked: it arrived "just like that", not. Apparently they thought our wait was worth a drink from home. Too bad that drink is still on the bill... Extremely bad experience. All the food was dripping with grease. A spinach bowl is just some spinach, with sand!, lots of oil and some tasteless parmesan. The sushi rice contained hard grains. Tasteless burata. The staff never once asked if it was satisfactory, so they couldn't say anything: so be it; I thought the food was bad and the staff was not nice.

De locatie al eens eerder bezocht, toen net open en andere eigenaar nu een hernieuwde kennis making en niet naar tevredenheid, helaas. De bediening die zonder zichtbare aansturing nog al wat steken liet vallen, chaotisch is een betere benaming, verwisselen van bonnen en bestellingen, mijn bestelde Tonic kwam pas na een 15 min ten tonele, en die moest ik kapen van een dien blad dat alweer onderweg naar terug was, de bestelde witte wijn van mijn tafel genoot was er wel in 5 min, Mnn.... geen goed begin. De 3 jonge dames op het grote terras vertoonde duidelijk tekenen van Stress, die resulteerde in een norsheid die grensde aan onvriendelijk. Ze deden hun best maar onder die werkdruk bezwijken wel meer mensen. De lunch gerechten werden uitgeserveerd met de bestelde frietjes, en ja hoor koud, gevalletje keuken logistics, niet onder controle. Na een opmerking werden de frietjes zonder discussie of andere issue van de tafel gegrist en binnen 10 min vervangen door wel warme gemixed met exemplaren die een tweede keer het hete vet gezien hadden, de lezer voelt hem al, nou ja frietjes, van die lucifer stokjes waar niks in zit, aardappel bedoel Ik dan, zo ongeveer het zelfde type als de grootste hamburger bakker van Nederland in zijn happy meal stopt. Uitbater ga toch eens de markt op voor een goed pieper product, is echt wel te krijgen en je doet je gast er een plezier meer. Carpaccio op brood is iets wat ik nog niet eerder heb gezien en ervaren, zou het er naast serveren in overeen stemming met wat de kaart suggereerde. En als Ik nog toch bezig ben met opbouwende kritiek, wees eerlijk over de gerookte zalm, en noem het niet langer huis gerookte zalm, wat Ik voorgeschoteld kreeg was industrieel gerookte kweek zalm, zoiets als wat de horeca groothandel verkoopt Ambachtelijk koud gerookte zalm op een temperatuur van 22 a 24 Gr C duurt gemiddeld 20 uur, neem daarvoor nog het zouten en rijpen die ook nog 24 uur vragen en het antwoord is gegeven, daar heeft de horeca ondernemer niet die faciliteit en tijd voor, dus helder en eerlijk is gewenst. Het komt niet meer goed tussen Maggie en mij.

If you ever go to Alphen, this is definitely worth a visit

2 people on Saturday evening. Particularly surprised by Maggie Blue. Good and relaxed atmosphere, partly created by the staff. Friendly, correct but accessible and pleasant. The food was beautifully prepared and tasted very good. The concept of "shared dining" allows you to share dishes with your group and taste them together. Highly recommended!

A wonderful place for rest! everything is cultural and youthful, the service may not be as fast as we wanted, but it is of high quality. I want to single out the waiter Maxim! Very good attitude towards visitors! thank you❤️‍🔥

Visited Maggie Blue for the 40th birthday of one of the guests. Food was nice, but not very good. Especially very little for what you pay for it. The menu no longer exists for children and they were allowed to make do with deep-fried snacks. That's okay, but €7.50 for 3 bitterballen and a handful of fries?! Then we have a desert... talking about small portions. The cheese board is not good, very little and you can still cut off the rind yourself. The service does not respond to your comments. And they don't do anything with the 40th anniversary comment, they don't even address us about it. You don't have to do anything but at least say congratulations. There are plenty of catering establishments in Alphen, so people: pass Maggie Blue and go eat somewhere else!!

COFFEE LOVERS ATTENTION! This is a message to all coffee lovers! Maggie Blue is the ideal place to catch the smell of freshly roasted real Belgian premium bean coffee in the morning. The restaurant is located in the front of the Nutsgebouw and has a terrace on Thorbeckeplein. The restaurant has an accessible, distinctive and special style. The interior is incredibly beautifully decorated. They have an international lunch and dinner menu. We came for fresh roasted coffee. And we would love to come back for lunch and dinner. The food tasted delicious. Flavors came together well! Unfortunately we had to wait a very long time for our food. The breaks between hanging quickly lasted 45 to 60 minutes. I did not experience this as pleasant. By the time we got our dessert menu, the tables were moved and the DJ started playing.

Limited card. Insufficient information for what you get, it does not state whether your Beef is cold and raw. Good service from staff. We were very dissatisfied with the quality of the food. Nice concept for a night out with work. Not for dining. My wife also had a very bad stomach ache after eating the dumplings. Reported everything to staff, so two drinks were removed from the bill.

The food here is just simply perfect. Added bonus is the very friendly staff. Best thing on the menu has to be the mosquito fries, will get them every time.
