Absolutely lovely staff, so friendly, I unfortunately had an afternoon to kill in Meppel and ended up spending it here - great music, great chats, if I had to be back in Meppel again, I'd deffo come back to here. Food was top notch too!

For that price, I steer clear of the local chip shop, and I'm lazy, so I refuse to make it myself. Delicious food, friendly staff, a real treat for an affordable price, and home delivery is available. With home delivery, no knife or fork is needed! 😆 Well done!

Romy is amazing! She helped us out really well and resolved her colleague's mistakes in a professional manner. After we were served the wrong beers, she made sure the right ones were brought to the table, and she did that on a 12-hour workday! Very pleasant service, and she certainly deserves a bonus for her hard work!

Had drinks at Café de Kansel this afternoon and then dinner at the Meaters (they belong together). Nice place, welcoming and a cozy atmosphere. First of all: Romy, the hard worker who kept her cool despite the busyness and never lost sight of us; real respect and thank you! The spareribs (highly recommended) and the satay were delicious!

Great burgers and friendly service, the ice cream was really good too.

I always walked past this place, but never tried it. I finally had lunch with a friend, and the food was fine, nothing special. The service was perfect! I wouldn't go back, but I'm glad I tried it 🫶🏻

We arrived spontaneously but were immediately given a lovely table by the window. We received a warm welcome and were very friendly service...and the food was delicious.

What a terrible place! I contacted them ages ago about Christmas delivery. They made all sorts of promises, but ultimately, they had a lot of problems. They promised they'd fix it, but I'd have to pick it up myself. They promised to add a little extra for the inconvenience, but unfortunately, they couldn't even deliver on that. When I left, I was told the order was incomplete, so I had to go back. The food was decent. The fries weren't great. Never again Meaters! They contacted them and promised compensation, but that doesn't change the fact that it could have been much better.

We ate here for Christmas! Delicious food, generously sized portions, and excellent, fast service!

We were going to eat elsewhere, but we left after the appetizer. With little hope, we searched for a last-minute place to eat on Christmas Day. Meaters was fantastic. They immediately rearranged everything so we could still have a bite to eat. We wish we had made a reservation here first. The food was delicious, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. The price-quality ratio is excellent. Highly recommended!

Loved the food - the spicy wings and loaded potato were SO GOOD

The food is fine, but the quantity is inconsistent. Last time it was more than enough, but this time it was just right. The delivery times are also a bit disappointing, more than 45 minutes later than stated in the confirmation email. All in all, a less than positive experience.

Sat waiting for 20 minutes for someone to come and take my order, then left because of no service, even though I walked past 10 times.

The food was mediocre, and it took ages to order a drink and for the food to arrive. There was no menu, so we had to check our phones. No cutlery came with the food. I'll never get it again.

It was quite pleasant, the food was excellent. -period about waiting for your order. No fries, even though they were on the menu. They weren't brought, despite my remark about it.

Food was tasty, but expensive, very long. Starter came very quickly, was also very tasty. But then more than 45 minutes. Had to wait for the main course, and we had the same dishes twice, no difficult or laborious things at the table. Was really good meat, but expensive, too long and when we were there it was no longer extremely busy or anything. Also handy if you check the bill, there were 6 things on our bill that were not ours. And the first time we got money back that was also wrong, we had to indicate again that this was too little. Also after that no drink or anything like that for the inconvenience. Very unfortunate. So tip if you want to go here be patient and check your bill.

Eten was lekker, maar het duurder erg lang. Voorgerecht kwam heel vlot, was ook erg lekker. Maar daarna ruim 45min. Moeten wachten op het hoofdgerecht, en we hadden 2x dezelfde gerechten, geen moeilijke of bewerkelijke dingen aan tafel. Was echt goed vlees hoor, maar duurder wel te lang en het was toen wij er waren ook niet meer extreem druk ofzo. Ook handig als je de rekening checkt, er stonden bij ons 6 dingen op die niet van ons waren. En de eerste keer dat we geld terug kregen klopte dat ook niet, moesten we weer aangeven dat dit te weinig was. Ook daarna geen drankje of iets dergelijks voor het ongemak. Erg jammer.

Placed an order around 7:00 PM for 8:00-8:15 PM. Called at 8:40 PM to ask where the food was; it was on its way. Finally, at 9:00 PM, the delivery driver arrived. I live just 5 minutes away. Too bad, they'd say they forgot or it was busy. But don't lie (the delivery driver's bag was overflowing with orders, so I wasn't one of the last in line). Then, the quantity was disappointing. 4 pieces of rib (with 3-4 bones each) for a large sparerib. Unfortunately. The fries and spareribs tasted fine, but overall, it was disappointing.

Today we celebrated Liberation Day on the patio of Meaters. The service was very attentive and responsive. It was very busy, but we didn't notice a thing. Thanks for a lovely afternoon.

Delicious food despite being very busy. No trace of stress among the staff.

Zeer trage bediening, die nadat ze ons een plekje boven hadden gewezen totaal vergaten. Na een tijd maar eens iemand opgehaald om de bestelling op te nemen, want we hadden inmiddels ruimschoots de tijd gehad om de menukaart van de buren te bestuderen. Eten zeer matig. Ik had een mixed grill en alles smaakte hetzelfde en het vlees was droog. Wel ruim voldoende friet en sausjes. Ik was blij dat ze die maand 1+1 gratis aanbieding hadden, want ik had dit gerecht het gevraagde bedrag beslist niet waard gevonden.

Had a delicious meal at Meaters today. Ordered T-bone and rib eye, both well prepared, service was friendly and helpful, nice experience and worth repeating!

Nice people, cozy space and very tasty food

Picked up, food was ready on time, hardly had to wait, the chicken burger was very good! Only the nachos were floating in a big puddle of grease, the paper underneath was so soft that it was soaking through the food, and it was one big chunk of meat. Nachos not worth repeating.

Food was really delicious! Nothing wrong with that. Only we had to wait 1.5 hours before it was served while more than half of the tables were empty. The service was also quite mediocre. We had to ask for cutlery (seems pretty standard for dinner) and cloths for the spareribs. Too bad because, as mentioned, the food was fantastic.

Meaters is an attractive and cozy restaurant. We ate a delicious mixed grill. The wine is also fine. The service is great and very friendly.

Had a delicious meal with my brother, brothers-in-law, sisters and sister-in-law. We ordered and had a nice meal together at home. And what large portions. Well organised!!!!!

Delicious food, but it all took a while. That was the case last time too. If you have the time, definitely recommended!

After a bad experience (salmon) I tried again. Unfortunately, the pulled pork sandwich was a sparerib meat sandwich. Partly loose meat but fried together at the ends. Pulled pork from spare ribs is possible, but you will have to prepare it really slowly. Also way too sweet, it gives you a stomach ache. Enjoyed the fries with mayo more. More than half of the sandwich is in the trash. Delivery was great, friendly boy hence 3☆ service.

Nieuwe eigenaar, dus nieuwe review!!!! Heerlijk gegeten bij Meaters. Waren wat sceptisch gezien de negatieve reviews (bleken van vorige eigenaar te zijn!). Broodje met dipjes waren heerlijk vers. Spareribs zijn aan te bevelen, bijna fall of the bone!!. Locatie heeft een intieme sfeer, geluid staat hoorbaar maat niet te hard. Hier komen we zeker nog een keer terug

Hier wezen eten met mijn broertje die in Meppel woont en hier nog niet geweest was maar we snappen nu ook waarom. Het personeel is zeer vriendelijk maar we moesten zeer lang wachten op het eten, ons voorgerecht waren ze vergeten dus we kregen gelijk het hoofdgerecht wat toch wel anderhalf uur duurde voordat we het kregen, we hadden ons vlees al op toen eindelijk de frietjes kwamen en we misten ons schaaltje met salade. Het enige pluspunt was dat het vlees wel heerlijk was maar de frietjes weer erg slap. Dus we hadden maar besloten om ergens anders heen te gaan om daar een dessert te gaan nuttigen

Tasty food, great location for a party!

Het was de tweede keer deze maand, maar na vandaag toch maar een review, vorige keer was het al niet best maar nu was het echt slecht. De bediening is vriendelijk maar het eten liet enorm lang op zich wachten en dat voor een stokbroodje met wat knoflook boter een puntzak patat wat een minuscuul schaaltje werd en een broodje pastrami dat op een goedkoop zacht bagger broodje werd gedrukt. De smaak van alles was niet verkeerd maar het viel wel verkeerd, kon thuis sprinten naar de wc, zal details besparen. De prijzen waren absurd voor wat het zou moeten zijn. Helaas maar dit was niet best.

Mediocre experience. The service took a very long time and was inconsistent (had 4 different people at the table). The food was tasteless. The fajita chicken only had the right color, we did not taste any herbs, the onions and peppers were cut far too coarsely, the (not home-made) guacamole was far too salty. Definitely not recommended.

The nachos pulled pork is cold with soggy chips, the meat is pieces of spare ribs and not pulled pork as you would expect, and also a lot of paprika. The spare ribs are cold. The pulled pork burger is cold and not pulled pork but pieces of sparerib. The fries are cold and soggy. And all this for 51 euros. Not recommended.

Man man man! I'm never that enthusiastic, but how wonderful! On spec to Meppel and saw their bus. On to Meaters. Fam had the Meet Meaters and I had the Prime Rib. A delicious red sauvignon with a wonderful structure and aftertaste. Compliments, great atmosphere!

Delivery went fine. only 22.25 (1 menu) for two pieces of spare ribs (menu) without fries. Because apparently they had forgotten that. It's a bit of a shame. Quality, quantity and service are not constant.

Not recommended. Extremely slow service on the busiest Sunday in May. Maybe a bit understaffed, I don't know of course. But the entire terrace was full and a slightly higher (walking) pace is desirable. They came along at a leisurely pace. Also not alert to empty tables unfortunately, we really had to make contact ourselves several times. Waitress otherwise nice. Food came before drinks, bit strange. We ordered the loaded nachos with chicken. Tasted okay at the top, but after that it became a kind of soggy nacho lasagna. The chips became completely soft from the (well warm) toppings. Shame!

Fantastic food in a great location

Meaters was great in the beginning... quality, price, quantity... we have had several times that the Large Spareribs did not differ in quantity compared to the medium ones, we called about it and it was delivered afterwards... fine but a shame... now ordered, they have gone up considerably in price, the spare ribs have deteriorated enormously in quality, but not only the spare ribs, also the fries, no longer crispy... super limp even... you pay € 0.75 extra for a bowl of mayo. the containers are more than half as much... we will not order from here anymore... a shame because we could really look forward to them after a long working week...

Received steak and spareribs, unfortunately the steak tips were completely overcooked, dry and tough. The spare ribs were also fried for far too long and very dry. Don't go here for a nice piece of meat.

I was disappointed. 23 euros for large spareribs menu with fries. The ribs were very dry and slightly burnt. The fries seemed as if they had been in the pan twice, overcooked. This can be much better.

I specifically ordered Pulled Porc Nachos without peppers, but unfortunately it was full of all types of peppers. The pulled Porc in this same dish was just spare ribs without the bones, which is a bit of a shame.

Terrible, delivered an hour late

25 minutes late delivery, tbone steak cold and hard not worth the money. Herb butter was off not to eat anymore. Very disappointed and last order ever i made there. Can not advice in any aspect.

Ordered and picked up food. You will always receive friendly help. Excellent piece of sparerib, I ordered a large one, but to be honest, it seems like the portion is smaller than a while ago. Fortunately, the quality has remained the same. In addition to a spare rib, you get delicious fries and two sauces.

Saturday evening, we thought we would have a nice meal together. Unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. The meal took an hour and 30 minutes, 20 minutes outside the estimated time. Once at dinner, boxes were opened. Then we saw the food with enthusiasm. But the burittos were very greasy and we found out the wrong ones later. Instead of chicken we got minced meat and it was therefore disappointing (mouldy taste). Sandwiches in advance without spreads. Burgers were OK. On the red side. No Meaters again for us. Things are overlooked and done sloppily. Sadly but true.

Due to the current situation we had our spare ribs delivered. It was huge, tasty and even before expected time. Definitely a big recommendation, after Spare-Time was closed... Also the veggie burger exceeded our expectation. I recommend!

It was quite a disappointment after 1 hour and 45 minutes of waiting. The spareribs dry, the fries dark brown and a missing salad. A shame because it was always so tasty.

Almost 2 hours before our order arrived, it seems that delivery takes priority over eating on the terrace.

A fun day with friends ended at Meaters. The drinks and starters were fine. Only the girl at the counter didn't know how to answer all our questions, but she probably still had to learn that. The same girl was free when we finished our starter. We just wait and wait until the table was cleared. At one point a boy came to clear the place, we thought we were hungry and now the food will come. And we just wait. At one point we ordered another drink and asked the waitress if it would take long. She said it would happen soon. Fifteen minutes later she came to us, the person who had cleared the table had not let us know that the next round could come. 10 minutes later the food finally arrived. I had a Veggie burrito and my girlfriend pointed out to me that it had strange bits in it. Luckily I hadn't taken a bite yet. There weren't supposed to be any meat substitutes in it, but this looked a lot like chicken. We sent the plate back and 2 minutes later the waitress came back with the plate to say that it was vegetarian. I didn't order anything with meat substitutes (I don't know if that was really the case), so I had a new meal made. It was tasty, but I didn't like this experience as much. I have to say that the last waitress did her best to make up for it.

We would have liked the onions to be a little more cooked and we would have been willing to pay more if there was a choice for organic meat.
