I've been coming here since I was little, and now that I've moved, I still go. I came back today, and you can really taste their passion in the food. It's a truly enjoyable family-run business. You definitely have to go here; the service is top-notch, and the lentil soup is amazing, as is the eggplant dish!

Unfortunately, my experience at Mehtab was very disappointing this time. The chicken wings tasted like toothpicks. The lamb skewers were tiny cubes of about 3mm and had absolutely no seasoning or flavor. Furthermore, the shawarma was far too dry. I was a Mehtab customer, but with this quality, I unfortunately see no reason to return.

I've been going to Mehtap for years. I've eaten all sorts of things here. Everything tastes so good. Nice atmosphere. Nice owner and staff. Thanks guys for your efforts. 🙏🏻

The food was inedible, the reviews are written by the staff themselves. Never experienced such poor quality, definitely not recommended!! A food inspector should definitely come here. They're very amateur and the service is lacking. The people in the comments should be realistic, yuck. We also waited a long time while the restaurant was empty, and they're eating out of their noses.

I have been coming here for over 30 years and it still tastes delicious shawarna etc. It has always remained the same and the service and attention are always good.

We wilden na een sportieve dag eiwitrijk en voedzaam eten. Dat is goed gelukt, met meerdere lekkere gerechten samen op het bord, ook salade en brood erbij met lekkere dip. Ook vriendelijk personeel, top ervaring! (Ps: de borden aan de buitenkant doen het geen recht, zou ik weghalen)

The wok fried meat was very nice with its special sauces. We ordered rice pudding for dessert and ate a rice pudding that made us feel like we were at home. The staff and the owner of the place, Mr. Murat, were very attentive. If you want a quiet, decent place with good food, don't leave without stopping by. I would like to thank all the Mehtap staff.

I had lamb shank, rice and chicken soup. The soup was okay. The rice was served with a few chickpeas, which I really liked because it reminded me of old Turkish restaurants where it was often served with beans. The boiled lamb shank was delicious and tender that it fell off the bone with just a touch of my fork. A complimentary salad and traditional Turkish bread (pide) were served with the lamb shank. After the meal, they also offered tea without charge just like in traditional Turkish restaurants. The restaurant had dim lighting and no background music, creating a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, allowing you to enjoy your meal in a relaxed setting.

Sorry, but every time I try to eat here at Mehtap. Unfortunately the same thing happened again this year. That shawarma is simply not edible. Rice, fries and salad ridiculous. Let alone soup, it was even undrinkable! Unfortunately I don't have a photo of them all..

It's not how it used to be, fries full of oil and limp, meat is dry and on top of that you pay the jackpot price for half a plate. Unbelievable !

These were actually the worst fries I have eaten, they tasted pretty much like the sole of a shoe. Next time, skip it.

The food is really great, the owner and employees are always super friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Only positive things to say! I just ate a meal for the first time in a while and it was delicious once again. The daily meals they prepare during the week are delicious, nutritious and well priced. Sometimes, if I arrive late and order one of their daily meals, I get that little bit extra. These are really good people making really good food. ————————— I have been coming here sometimes for over a year. I've eaten in and taken away. The food is truly amazing, the owner is a great guy and the prices are very fair. Only positive things to say! Just had a meal again for the first time in a while and again it was lovely. The daily meals they prepare during the week are delicious and well-priced. Sometimes when I come late and order one of their daily meals he just gives a little bit extra. These are real good people, making real good food.

We came here previously when the shoarma 🥙 was sliced from the grill. That doesn’t happen anymore. Unfortunately now the shoarma is drier. The staff is extremely friendly. Lovely Turkish atmosphere.

A family restaurant with delicious food, I recommend it

What a lovely place, I've been going here since 1994 to be honest. My friends and I were literally there for the super shawarma invention. The brothers and their father, always polite and patient in every situation. Celebrities are just as well known here as the local Shawarma customers. Price quality is excellent and I hope to come here for years to come.

We came twice to get take out lunch at the counter. The food has cozy heartwarming feel to it. It’s also incredibly good value for money. Both warm dishes together with rice and bread are about 20 eur. The staff is always super friendly. We love coming here for lunch and will soon come for dinner.

Update after 2 years and dozens of visits: This is place is still awesome. They're back to the usual offering, which includes a range of home cooked style Turkish meals. Needless to say, they're delicious and fresh. ---- The food is always nice and fresh. Nothing fancy, but it's tasty and reliable.

If there is something in life that I don't do it is eat at home, I decided to eat here I don't often regret choices in my life but this is the biggest regret I have ever had in my life 3 full days I was seriously ill from this disgusting “meat” and I certainly wouldn't recommend it 🤢

Too bad Mehtap has gone backwards and become dishonest because of the prices and the amount of what you get on your plate prices have almost doubled and the content has halved! It has become very commercial and we think it's a shame that the mix grill with shawarma is not worth the price!!! Pure scam!

Ate dinner with the kids. Shawarma has a good taste. However, if your dish is ordered under the shawarma fries, this may seem like a lot. Fries are twice-baked fries, which you will quickly notice. Köfte and Adana are straight from the freezer, which you can also get at mekafood. I have eaten Adana several times and it is certainly not home made. Furthermore, the service is good, but no initiative. Usually you just get nice tea and they clean it up quickly. However, this is not the case even though it was quite quiet on a Sunday. You can go there for shawarma, but with a sandwich.

The traditional Turkish Kitchen. Home made food. I just went back here after years.. Back in the days I would always come in before my exams to treat myself on a solid meal. And sometimes even study here in the family room. Prices are good and trust me, the food is incredible. Try the shoarma, the chickpea stew, the bean stew.

We waited for 45 minutes for the food and then got half of it, the rest was forgotten, the people behind us arrived 15 minutes later but got their food in 10 minutes. Don't go!

By far het beste restaurant in Amsterdam. Heerlijk eten, hygienisch schoon en zeer fijne familiesfeer. Iedereen is hartelijk en eerlijk. Niet alleen de main dishes zoals aubergine-lamsvlees en kipschotel zijn heerlijk, ook de klassiekers zijn geweldig, met name Adana schotel. Superbe!

The food is very delicious, and the owners are the nicest people i know! The atmosphere is cozy, and there is plenty of tables inside to choose from. I recommend dolma (stuffed peppers) which are on the menu every Monday.

What a taste for Pita Shaorma! Needs to be at first place in your list if you wanna discover Turkish restaurants. Try Shaorma with Pita, sauces were amazing.

Mehtap… Toen ik dat hoorde en opzocht dacht ik nee hier ga ik niet eten! Dit lijkt net een snackbar Maar toen ik eenmaal binnenliep dacht ik wow wat een service wat een decoratieve plek wat zijn de mensen leuk, Ook was het eten heerlijk en goedkoop! Je betaald voor je eten maar het is het waard! Ook als je een zakelijke meeting heb zou dit ook een goeie plek zijn

Het eten was redelijk ok, een schotel is niet meer een schotel zoals die eerder was. Prima dat het duurder is geworden, maar halveer vlees en kip niet.

Super service fedt sted med Tyrkisk mad samt deres shawarma var rigtig godt. Og de 2 som er på billedet var supper søde og rare mod os. Kan helt sikker andbefele stedet.

Een geweldige plek waar je heerlijk kunt eten. Ik bezoek het Mehtap-restaurant al 5 jaar. Elke keer als de sfeer gezellig is, wordt het eten op de dag bereid en erg lekker. Het shoarmabrood is het lekkerste dat ik in Amsterdam heb gegeten. Mensen zijn erg aardig, gastvrij en altijd glimlachend. Dank je! Ik raad aan!
