Mesiba in Jordaan

It’s disappointing to see that the restaurant, which originally drew its inspiration for both the food and atmosphere from Tel Aviv, has distanced itself from Israeli culture since the war. They've stopped playing Israeli music and rebranded the cuisine as 'Mediterranean food'. Shame on you.

Had a wonderful meal at Mesiba with a large group of friends! Delicious food, great music, a cozy atmosphere, and excellent service. Highly recommended for a fun evening!

Make no mistake. This is an Israeli restaurant, and you can expect typical Israeli service. So, rude, disinterested, and arrogant. Moreover, many of the dishes are colonialized and more Arabic-Middle Eastern. There are plenty of good REAL Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurants in Amsterdam.

Disappointing experience at Mesiba Amsterdam My visit to Mesiba was a huge disappointment. The food was generally substandard: the dishes had little to no cohesion and the flavors were anything but good. The same tahini sauce was used for every dish, which made it monotonous and boring. The cauliflower, which cost €19, was completely tasteless and difficult to eat. The fries were simply from Friet van Oost, which is completely out of character for a restaurant that focuses on Hebrew cuisine. The spinach was way too salty, making it unedible, plus it was intricately wrapped in a piece of paper, which made eating inconvenient. Mini schnitzels on bread, chicken from the fryer. Simple dish but with a high Kentucky Fried Chicken content, and I don't have to go to a restaurant for that. The chicken shashlik was fine, but also a bit overcooked and burnt in some places, which did not improve the taste. The starter, a tartare, was sloppily presented as a blob on the plate. The overall presentation was mediocre, and the dishes had little to no Hebrew influence, which is what you would expect from a restaurant with this claim. The service also left much to be desired. On arrival we were given a table that was far too low, almost at knee height, which made it impossible to dine comfortably. After some insistence we were given another table, but it was close to the door, so we were constantly exposed to drafts. Strangely enough, there were several other tables available during our entire stay, but we were not allowed to sit there. In addition, the toilets were in a deplorable condition. There was toilet paper everywhere and no towels to be seen. It was downright dirty. Considering the poor quality of the food, poor service and hygiene, I felt the price was absolutely not justified. I certainly do not recommend this restaurant.

The music was great. We were told to arrive at 8 PM, but the place was quite empty at that time. It seems that locals in Amsterdam usually start arriving after 9:30 PM, and that’s when the crowd builds up, the music kicks in, and the ambiance becomes much more enjoyable. The food options were limited. The meat dishes were quite good, and the snacks weren’t bad either, but the variety could be improved. The bar was lively and enjoyable, so we chose to have our meal there instead.

The restaurant is aesthetically very beautiful, the lights are perfect and give a very welcoming effect. The food was super good and the portions are perfect, I recommend the chicken shislik and the almond cake: VERY GOOD. Furthermore the waiters are very kind and polite. The music is super beautiful!

The food was amazing, me and my partner had a few different plates to try a bit of everything. Personally, I really liked the chicken dish. Good music, made it quite vibey (although very 1980s, be warned!).

Bullshit! I made a reservation 1 week ago to celebrate my wife's birthday and that day they called me to cancel my reservation.

While the ambiance and decor set high expectations, the food and service didn’t live up to it. Starting with the food, Mesiba’s dishes were elegantly presented but quite small, which seemed out of sync with the shared dining concept. Mesiba felt overpriced for the quality and portions, leaving us with the impression of a rushed, less-than-welcoming experience.

I tried a vegetarian starter and main course. Very good, spicy, particular. I tried a cocktail similar to a mojito, but with the addition of lemon and licorice... amazing! Friendly and courteous staff.

We were here with the football team and it was a lot of fun. Nice service and good music.

It's fine, food is okay and the vibe is also okay, but the price is too expensive for what you get. The 10 gram ceviche for €16 is absolutely ridiculous. It's better to spend 3 euros more and sit at a star tent.

Feels like its a bit hidden away looks small from the outside but its such a deep restaurant. Amazing atmosphere and music. The food is so moreish, you just want to keep eating!

The food was amazing. They have the concept of sharing the food with your friends. The quality of the dishes was just a joy. The service was also awesome. The waiter was very friendly. He even took the time to give us advice on what to visit in Amsterdam. The atmosphere was very nice and Overall extremely pleasant.

I was here with three friends. The atmosphere is cozy and the food was decent. The mini schnitzels were good, but the chicken skewer was disappointing and pricey. The bread is highly recommended, despite the above-average price of €12. We had reserved a table upstairs, but there was only one other table there, which was less atmospheric than downstairs.

We had an amazing time at Mesiba. We had a table of 8 and the staff were fun, attentive. Drinks were 10/10. Food also very very good. We got one of everything on the menu as we were a large party and it is family style The owner was so nice coming over to chat with us and kept making sure everything was good. Very fun atmosphere with great music as well.

We expected (as stated on some websites) an Israeli restaurant. There is little to be found here. Nice service, delicious food but very expensive and small quantities. Prince and quality are not in proportion.

One of the best experiences here in Amsterdam. The owner Eyal, and Che felt like old friends. Go here, don’t think twice. Food, atmosphere, vibe, playlist were all perfect.

Definitely worth checking out with a group to taste the different selections. Bread was great as too were the vegan cigars. Service was exceptional

A hidden gem on the edge of the Jordaan. Modern, but cozy interior. Refined cuisine and polite and friendly service. But the big problem are the bouncers on the doorstep. You only have to do something (unconsciously) wrong and you will immediately be punished. Personal insults are also not avoided. I may have accepted that from a bouncer when I was 20, but now well over 60, that's reason enough to give this restaurant only 1 star. The overall concept is shaky and there are plenty of friendly alternatives in the area. So don't go.

Attended this restaurant last night for Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend. Staff were really polite and we ordered our starters. I took a bite into this shnitzel and it was completely raw in the inside. We told our waiter and he apologised and bought out another one. They did not remove anything from the bill. I have been to some of the top modern Israeli restaurants in London and this did not compare in the slightest. Slightly disappointing.

Love love loved Mesiba. The spicy margarita style cocktail was delish and all of the food we ordered was faultless. Incredible flavours, relaxed staff and a really nice dining experience.

Had a great Christmas Eve. Good service, delicious food! The owner personally came to ask if everything was OK and if we wanted more food we got it for free. All in all highly recommended

Really lovely restaurant with kind staff, the restaurant itself has a very cozy ambiance so it's perfect for a romantic dinner or a nice dinner with friends. For starters we had the vegan cigars, burnt corn salad and signature bread. For mains we had the roasted cauliflower, chicken shishlik and fries and as dessert we had the bakba and malabi. All the food was delicious and i loved that it's a shared dining concept, something went wrong with one of the desserts so they took it off the tab directly. The waiter was also very helpful with choosing the dishes and drinks were also good. Definitely recommend this place!

The three of us had a delicious meal. Not cheap, but that's what the service and atmosphere are like; excellent!

Hot staff. Amazing vibes. Only negative thing was the menu. The food is delicious but the menu is very small and inadequate and as a result you have to get almost everything in order to just not be hungry. I would recommend but be prepared to pay a lot.

The place says its open until 4 but it actually closes at 2am. The bartenders( friends of the owner), friends of owner and owner just played the music they wanted to hear. The place has so much potential and is very cool but the young staff doesn’t to care so much about customers. I order a cocktail but we were told to leave the place literally 10min after, obviously didn’t have the time to drink it.

Price / quality was good, friendly staff but amazing vibe there. Perfect way to start your Friday.

The staff was kind, but not service minded. We would wait very long for our drinks, and when we reminded the waiter - it still took some time. After bringing our drinks, he would walk off without taking our empty glasses. The location is very cute and the interior is nice as well! Food wise it was good, but I felt the place was a bit hyped, so I expected a bit more extravagant/out of the box food & food combinations. Also food portions are very Dutch (read: small).

De hype waard. Totaal niet het 13 in een dozijn gevoel zoals de rest van de stad. Zeer vriendelijke bediening ( ook een x fijn) En voor het eten komen we ook terug.

What a place to be! Amazing vibe, good mix of music. We had several dishes to share. Best ones are cod fish in tahini sauce, spinach in the oven with tahini sauce and also their bread is so fresh and delicious!Good place for a date or girls night out. Lovely owner.

Good food, my experience was that there were not many vegetarian options in the group sharing menu but the ones that were tasted very good.

We stumbled upon this restaurant and couldn’t have been happier. Some of the best food I’ve had in awhile and the burnt corn salad is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. I’d add photos…but we ate everything. Thanks for a great experience Mesiba - totally dreamy!

First time at this restaurant tonight with a some friends. The food was delicious and the inside is beautiful with great music! Nonetheless, the service was quite poor as the staff on that night was not attentive, forgot some orders, and was rather slow. Finally, the timing between the dishes was sometimes too long with 30’ wait. Will come back for second chance though!

A hidden gem. You’re not likely to stumble upon this place randomly, but boy is it worth the trip. Amazing concept, delicious food to share with a nice group of people. Order their famous bread, the Israel tartare, Moroccan style fish, and definitely the Babka for desert. The only downside is it’s a bit pricy, but if you’re looking for a place to celebrate something special, or you’re just making good money (congrats, good on ya), check out Mesiba.

Food was delicious! Service was below my expectation. Cutlery, napkin was missing on the table, no spoons or service cutlery for shared dishes. Menu was left on the table even after ordering. Music got louder after some time, that’s ok but the playlist was made by someone who has ADHD :) there was no theme and it was a bit off-putting. Go there for the food.
