Better hamburgers than at McDonald's

Grabbed a quick burger: for 12 euros, I expected something more than snack bar quality. Unfortunately not. I got a bun with a burger that was tasty in itself, but very thin; no special toppings, sauce from a wholesaler's bottle, and nothing else on the side—not even a few fries or some onion rings or anything. All of that served on a dirty wooden board with cutlery just dumped next to it. Snack bar quality and atmosphere, but twice as expensive.

I had fries and a snack and they were perfectly fine.

A super nice diner; the interior is just like I know it from photos and movies from America. We entered with 6 people and were greeted warmly. That alone makes you feel welcome. The space is well laid out. It was nice that there was a large table where we happened to be able to sit. A young man came over right away to ask if we wanted something to drink. The menu is great, something for everyone: various American burgers, or you can choose a plate or a local specialty, the Steenwijker meatball. We all ordered different things. Everything was well prepared and tasty, and served at the same time. My burger was delicious: a soft burger bun, tasty fresh ingredients, lettuce, crispy sauce (indeed with a kick), the burger well cooked, not dry, just right. What I like is that if you want, you can also add other ingredients/toppings; the prices for these are listed very clearly. I found this by chance on the internet. The owner had time for a friendly chat. He also told the story behind the local specialty and how it originated. We felt that the man here has enthusiasm and passion for the hospitality industry. The mix of American diner with a Dutch touch is well captured here. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stop by. Great value for money; we were there in March 2026.

Seriously subpar. Cold and chilly to sit in. No atmosphere, dim lighting. Absolutely no interest in customers. Four people had a few drinks and had to wait three-quarters of an hour! The order was delivered chaotically; they don't know who ordered what, including the sauces, etc. Everything was very poor.

We're coming from far away and want to do a car puzzle route in the area tonight. Because it takes a long time, we'd like to leave as early as possible, after sunset. Before then, we'd like to grab a quick bite, and this place caught my eye. It's an American diner; it looks cozy and good. When we enter, we take a seat and look at the menu. It takes a long time for our order to be taken, but we manage. After a while, the server returns to inform us that unfortunately, they can't serve coffee. No problem, it happens, but we explain that we've been waiting quite a while for our food. "No problem, we'll get to it as soon as possible." We wait and wait, but see little action on our order. After a 45 (!) minute wait, the food was finally served. It tasted fine, but I expected a bit more from a medium portion of curly fries for 4 euros. If you're looking for a quick snack, I wouldn't go here; it's not exactly "fast" food.

Truly the best burgers I've ever had! Deliciously juicy burger, fluffy bun, and delicious toppings! Absolutely delicious! And when Dani's in the shop, it's absolutely fantastic ❤️

Way too expensive junk on your bike, also charge hefty delivery costs if you have an order of 30 euros, container of peanut sauce 3.85 euros haha

No idea why this tent has deteriorated so much... Fries are lukewarm and limp. The citizens are also not as they used to be. Michels burger: bread soggy, hamburger dry and the tomato old. Manhattan: this should have a chicken schnitzel on it. There was a flat chicken tenderloin on it, the size of 1/3 of the burger. Some lettuce and 1 tablespoon of onion thrown on top. We called about the Manhattan burger. The young man on the phone is very unfriendly. Very derogatory and makes no excuses or anything like that Based on reading the reviews here and also the responses from the company, we will not order here again.

Good service, but terrible spareribs. Shake, curly fries and raw vegetables were tasty.

One of the best burger places in the Netherlands

After several negative experiences, today I put the normal and large fries on the scale: The large one weighed 10 grams heavier... Shame. Edit: Thanks for the response. Instead of dismissing a customer as a liar, an apology might have been more appropriate. It could well be that you weigh it before you bake it, but then something goes wrong with the distribution after baking. And when I read the reviews again, I am not the first to notice this. 'An argument won is a customer lost' is perhaps a term to think about. Review only downgraded one star given the lousy attitude of the person who responded. Nice day! Edit: It's great that you've gone a step further in your response (and removed previous nonsense). Now that extra scoop with the large fries! Success!

Vroeger was alles beter zeggen ze weleens. Normaal vind ik dat maar een rare uitspraak, maar in het geval van Michels klopt het precies. En laat ik het daar ook maar bij houden, meer aandacht verdienen ze niet.

The food was quite good, but pricey. €11 for a burger without fries is expensive... The fries were also quite salty. Several things were out of stock and there were no milkshakes. Something we immediately noticed was that no suitable music was being played, but that the radio was simply on, quite a shame! It was not immediately clear that we had to find a seat ourselves and order at the counter because the staff said nothing else to us. The interior is a bit cold and unpleasant, but clean.

We ordered a medium and a large fries, no difference in size, but we did have to pay €1 more for the large one. Only received an apology when we said something about it. I asked for a vegetable burger from the menu but they didn't know if they had one and didn't bother to check.

Ate here with husband and son (22). The concept of "dinner" appealed to us. We had made a reservation by phone just to be sure. Upon entering, the young man who helped us had no idea about a reservation. Luckily we were the only guests and we were able to find a spot. That was done quickly. The diner is small. Nice, but different than expected. It's more just a cafeteria with dinner decor. Nice idea. The food is fine. The hamburgers are not thrown in the fryer, but prepared on a baking tray. You can taste this. They were tasty. Fries were also well prepared. Unfortunately I couldn't order soft ice cream for dessert. The device did not work. The place was neat and clean.

Food is very expensive, frikandel xxl special often has very little sauce on it. Fries arrive lukewarm (delivery). For those prices you expect a bit more. This is often reported, but unfortunately nothing is done about it.

We had two portions of fries, one was only half a bowl full. The fries were extremely salty. The bear bite is nothing more than a chopped meatball with thinly sliced ​​chewy onions. In short, not worth the money. When returning the tray, the young lady asked if everything had been satisfactory, after I said that was not the case she smiled and said "have a nice evening"

We tried the Kreta burger and the South Carolina burger. Both were lovely! We enjoyed them a lot. Nice atmosphere and kind staff. Will definitely be visiting again (they also deliver so that’s a plus as Steenwijk doesn’t have many delivery options)

On arrival the establishment is very clean and somewhat real..service was very slow and several items of the order did not arrive. Food was very average unfortunately .Staff a very mixed bunch,pleasant to unprofessional..note..don't eat from a fryer on several occasions when people are waiting on food and forgotten orders..

Eten en service was oké. Wat ik erg vind is de smerigheid onder de tafels met restant voedsel zoals patat enz. De vloer wordt niet schoongemaakt. En dan de wc!!!! Wat een smerig boel. Dit tent wordt niet voor herhaling vatbaar!

Thijs is echt de beste gastheer! Jammer dat hij nu weg is...

Eis essen: Suikerspin und Marshmallow sind super lecker . Pistache und yogurt Früchte noch verbesserungswürdig.

Heerlijk gegeten. Burgers met patat. Ik bestelde een hamburger zonder broodje en toen hebben ze er even een leuk gezellig bordje van gemaakt. Top!

Op't eerste oog een mooie tent die wij onderweg op onze route tegenkwamen. Het eten vonden wij eerlijk gezegd niet top, geen lekkere friet en de friet met pulled pork was heel veel ui en friet en daartussen pulled pork. Voor ons niet opnieuw een tussenstop hier helaas.

Snelle vriendelijke bezorging eten was goed warm en heerlijk van smaak! Top!

Hadden 2 burgers en 2 bakjes friet besteld. Stond bij thuisbezorgd dat het 25 min duurde, daar en tegen kregen we het er pas na één uur. Het eten was okay maar, we kregen hamburgers die nog dunner waren dan bij de mac, het broodje was volledig zacht en die kneep je al kapot als je burger alleen al oppakte. We hebben normaal gesproken altijd een goede ervaring gehad en vonden het erg jammer. Dit was geen €35-, waard.

Het eten was lekker, echter duurde het een uur voordat we het eten kregen. Zelfs het drinken kregen we pas na ~25 min te zien.

Na anderhalf uur had ik nogsteeds m'n sparerib niet. T eten was prima anders was t 1 ster.

Personeel werkt erg hard, doen hun uiterste best om een goeie burger te maken. We hebben lekker gegeten. Eten was er zeer snel ondanks dat het erg druk voor ze was met telefonische en online bestellingen. Wat ik wel heb gemist is dat de milkshake niet meer in een glas wordt geserveerd,dat vond ik juist zo leuk eerder.

We are vegetarian. I'd say I had my best vegeterian burger in Holland here. We had veggie loempia along with burger. The loempia was also in big size and tasty. The tasy food and good quantity, the perfect combination!

De burger was echt heerlijk en de frietjes ook! Sausje ook lekker en een lekker sfeertje binnen. Mocht wel wat sixties muziek aan om het compleet te maken. Verder toptent!

Not that good. The burgers were quite bland, fries were the frozen type. Most probably the patty was frozen as well and the taste was very average to low. Was expecting something else given the high prices for a restaurant with an american food theme.

Mijn bestelling was verkeerd bezorgd, na een telefoontje snel en netjes opgelost met een opnieuw bereide bestelling! Erg lekker en vriendelijke mensen.

Perfecte hamburger ,super gezellige Amerikaanse sfeer. En nu de bestellingen super snel bezorgd. Echt een aanrader.

Trage bediening, sfeer niet geweldig, werden niet erg vriendelijk behandeld. Burger was niet warm genoeg.

Okee, we hebben voor 12 mensen besteld. Maar de friet was lauw toen we thuis aankwamen. Snacks zijn wel oké. En ze deden er langer over dan aangegeven.

For a simple typical Dutch snack and meal place go to Michel’s in Steenwijk. It’s very affordable they’ve got ice cream and milk shakes too. They’ve got a jukebox that doesn’t function (just for show). Posters of James Deen and Marilyn Monroe all over the place. American diner seats and all that. It’s a piece of America in one restaurant. Fun for a snack or a simple meal.

Great food when it finally came. We arrived at 18:00 on Friday and got no attention at all for a long time. After it looked like we needed to go order at the counter, which was not at all obvious, (during which a couple also arrived and left without ordering) it still took another hour for the food to come at about 19:15. The staff were clearly very very busy but it would have been a lot easier to bear if we'd received some attention or some apology for the wait. Even a little note on the table (in Dutch would be fine) to go order at the counter would have helped, as would an expectation and apology for the wait.

redelijke prijs jammer dat er geen borden hangen met wat ze hebben en ook geen glazen vitrine wat je kunt uitkiezen dus je moet echt even de folder pakken inrichting een beetje elvis Presley achtig jammer dat niet iedereen de zelfde kleding droeg en dat ze niet gelijk de tafels leeg maken als de menden weg zijn toen wij binnen kwamen was een tafel nog vol borden en toen we klaar waren met eten stond het er nog dus wij hebben onze eigen spullen maar even weg gezet
