Mooshka Vegan Soul Food in Nieuwe Pijp

It’s so sad to see how Mooshka went. As a regular customer, I was always able to recommend as a “go to” restaurant. Service was always very good & they had a really welcoming atmosphere. This changed a couple years ago and since then each time visiting I’ve just seen a decline in the standard of service and our dishes that come out. Something always went wrong each time we visited, it just felt unprofessional & not about the customer or experience but about a low standard of service, take your money and have you leave as soon as possible so it just made us not want to visit anymore. This restaurant used to have people waiting outside for a place and to see it go from that to what it became is such a shame for the vegan community.

Unless I’m crazy and don’t know how to use maps, this place is now out of business. I was excited to try it. No sign or anything left.

My go-to place for vegan food in Amsterdam , I am never disappointed

Food was quite tasty but the service made the visit to mooshka a lesser experience. Besides the fact that we did not feel very welcomed by the waitress, something had gone wrong with the order. One of us got a different dish. After informing the waitress, she replied that we had to pay for the food anyway because a bite had already been taken and if we wanted the dish that had been ordered, it would be added to the bill for the dish not ordered. In the end I left it for what it was. The food was good but due to the unfriendliness I will never come back here.

Embarrassingly bad service, we were constantly asking for water refills and our food didn’t come for about an hour. Turns out they didn’t even take half of our order. Nachos barely had any toppings, although shawarma was good. Overpriced and very average restaurant (although this seems to be a common theme in Amsterdam…)

The food is really good if you are lucky to place and receive your order! We have three bad experiences placing our orders and all of them been cancelled after the order was “on the way”.

Cute lil vegan soul food spot with great vibes in de Pijp. I ordered the kapsalon with sweet potato fries....AMAZING! The avocado Fries are DELISH. The service was a lil on the slow side - it took quite a while to get the food ordered, but worth the wait. And if you like r&b/hip-hop music from the 90s / 00s...the vibes are 😎😁

Been there a few times already for dinner, and it's always a treat. Some of the best vegan food in Amsterdam — I can never get enough of the injera and the masala croquettes — and the staff is super friendly and kind.

The service was friendly and the food was good! We didn’t really like the waffles and they were so kind to take that of the bill. The food is a lil pricey for what you get.

Amazing food and friendly service. Perfect first dinner in Amsterdam! Would recommend to vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters who just wanted to try a vegan restaurant. Cannot recommend highly enough, we were so surprised we were the only customers. Perhaps a tad expensive (2 main meals, 1 desert and 3 drinks came to €60), but definitely worth it

Food was good but the portion size was pretty small and it was quite expensive for what you get. We had the Enjara for two which was not enough. But the raspberry kombucha was the most disapointing, there was NO kombucha in it. It was just artificial raspberry concentrate with water and not tart at all. I brew kombucha at home so I know what it's supposed to taste like and their "kombucha" was far from the real thing. Also weird that you have to pay 10 euro in advance when you book a table. It can cause problems when you pay the bill and forget to ask them to subtract the 10 you paid earlier.

Wij hebben heerlijk gegeten! Mooi opgemaakt je en heel zorgzaam opgediende borden! Heerlijke zoete aardappel fries! Ook de ruimte is heel smaakvol en knus ingericht. Hoe dan ook een aanrader voor de inmiddels verwende vegan eters!

First time visit and decided to go on a Tuesday for the injera special. It was super tasty! Friendly service and nice decor. I look forward to visiting again.

The perfect place to eat amazing meals. They have something for everyone here: burgers, milkshakes, Ethiopian Injera, Surinamese roti, everything vegan, everything absolutely delicious. The service is excellent, the location is perfect, and the atmosphere is very cozy

We had a fantastic meal here very tasty. Great service very friendly. Abocado flies lovely the ethiopian dish was yummy.

Luckly we made a reservation. The small restaurant was packed mostly with ladies. There were just me and another guy at the Mooshka. What do you expect in a vegan restaurant. Apart from the absence of men and looking at the menue it is not obvious that this is a vegan place. My food (Injera) was very tasty. Like originally intended I did not even get knife and fork and ate with my hands. My wife and daughter didn't like their food so much (Mooshka Burger and Roti Masala) and I also found it a little boring in taste. The service was good, but it took quite long to bring us out drinks.

I went there today for lunch and it was my first time. Unfortunately it was not a good day for service. I was told before I was seated that the credit card payment was down so you had to pay in cash or a bank transfer with a Dutch account. So I went to an ATM to get cash since I am a foreign tourist. After ordering, it took almost 45 minutes for me to get my burger and fries. The host said they were having issues in the kitchen. Two strikes, not a good first impression. I heard the host offer drinks on the house to a table that I saw seated right before mine, for the delayed wait for their food. I was not offered the same courtesy for my 45 minute wait. I would like to think it’s not because I am a person of colour and the host and other guests were European, but in this crazy world of ours you never really know if it’s a deciding factor for some people. Anyway, I digress, the fries were good and the burger was less than average. Also they were out of several things on the menu.

Vanavond hier met 2 vriendinnen gegeten, dát was gezellig. Maar een tegenvaller, een onorganisseerde zaak. Koffie bestellen dat kon niet, want het apparaat was stuk. Bier van de tap was op en meerdere drankjes van het menu waren niet bestelbaar. Ook 3 gerechten op de niet al te uitgebreide menukaart konden ook niet besteld worden. Betaling per pin was niet mogelijk, want die was stuk. De vooraf betaalde aanbetaling, welke op de bon verrekend zou worden, die waren ze even vergeten te verrekenen. En als laatste vond ik de service zeer matig. Gelukkig was eten opzich wel lekker en is de aankleding er leuk, maar ik vond het er wel wat koud.

I was never a big fan of waffles but it was already past 9 so the other 2 desserts were finished so I tried the waffle. IT WAS THE BEST WAFFLE I’VE EVER ATE! FR!! Just a pity that the coffee machine was broken

Menu was really uninspiring and super expensive. Nothing under 20€ and everything with fries.

Great food but the service wasn't great. Waited for ages, missed our order, and charged us for tap water.

Always a treat at Mooshka!!! The atmosphere and music in this wonderful restaurant is warm and inviting, just make sure you reserve as it is a small place. Expect delicious Vegan food with Caribbean and (Afro-)American dishes, flavours and snacks, but most, (if not all), food ingredients are organic and unrefined and cooked from scratch. They bake a mean Velvet cake.. Weight-watchers beware, because you will be hooked after just one bite!😃 Other than that, good honest wholesome food ... Sara the owner has done an amazing job!
