As a big meat lover this meal was very tasty, its easy being vegan when places like this exist. We had tacos and salad :) Kind waiter, good cooks and tasty food. All good 😊

A cute little place with a varied vegan menu. The eggplant hummus is served cold from the fridge, but overall, the food is good.

Lovely vegan cafe with an enticing menu stretching from noodles and salad to burgers and fries. We had the salad bowl and the satay noodles both of which were tasty and varied with pickles and broccoli to offset the richness of the satay noodles and tempeh whilst the salad had lovely crunchy cassava crisps alongside the tempeh, jackfruit and more (with only the pineapple being underpowered). There is a good beer selection with a good white beer adding to the experience along with friendly staff and prompt service.

This is the first time I visited the Soil Cafe. I was positively surprised, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the service was fast and the food was soooooo good. I came here with my friend who does not eat plant based by default and she also really enjoyed the food! Totally recommend this place! :D

I love trying new vegan restaurants and i really loved this place. I had the mushrooms for starter and loved them with the mustard. Then also had the dragon noodles and the flavours were so good. I will definitely go again the next time i am in Amsterdam

Was so excited to try this place as I saw several recommendations from other vegans that they had great food here. I made a reservation and was seated right away which was great. But the overall service was super disappointing. It took my partner and I a few times to get the waiter’s attention as we waited 20 minutes before being helped. We understand it was busy, but then we saw other customers come and legit two minutes later were helped. We were confused why the service for us was not as prompt, but it is what it is. The ribs were good. The burger was okay. I personally would not come back though due to our experience.

The service was so friendly, relaxed, and customer-oriented. You got the impression that the whole team enjoyed what they did and cooked and served with passion. The food was heavenly! The menu offers plenty of choice for every taste: from traditional Dutch (like bitterballen) to burgers and Asian dishes such as satay noodles. Reservations are highly recommended – we saw several people looking for a table in vain. There were just the two of us, and we started our "eating marathon" (everything was so delicious!) with the ribs, tacos, and bitterballen. For the main course, we had the satay udon and the double chicken burger with sensational fries. Highly recommended!

A wonderful break in the middle of my Amsterdam trip! The food was top tier and the staff friendly and helpful. Even though I finished my meal rather early and a lot of people kept coming to get a table, they made me feel like I did not have to rush out. I eventually left because I could feel how much people yearned to get in though ☺️ Thank you so much Soil !

A delicious vegan place! Excellent dishes. The desserts were a perfect end to a wonderful dinner. I came back for lunch. I couldn't leave Amsterdam without trying other dishes.

A cute and fully vegan restaurant serving different types of dishes like burgers, noodle bowls, salades, sides and dessert. We had the double cheeseburger with fries, fried chicken burger, tacos and the cheesecake. The food was really amazing, very fresh and flavourful, the cheesecake blew us away! The staff was friendly and we haven't waited long for our food. It depends if you need a reservation, the first time we couldn't get in because it was full and the second time we had a table immediately. It's a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. Big recommendation and try the cheesecake!

The burgers were good but the fried rice were really a disappointment, it was like Uncle Ben's rice and not fried at all, tasteless. The staff was nice.

A must-try if you're ever in Amsterdam! The food was truly excellent. The place is a bit noisy but quite relaxed. There's nothing bad on the menu, which makes you want to come back and try other dishes.

It was not the best food I had. Quite a lot of noodles and sauce and little vegetables. We ordered a tea not knowing the restaurant would close in 10 min. The lady could have told us that we cannot order anymore because they will close soon. Now we got the tea and a few minutes later were ordered to leave. While we were there with two full hot cups of tea. Not very likely to return here.

Cheekily, we turned up as a group of 10 without a reservation during the lunch rush. Understandably, Soil weren’t sure they could accommodate us but really did everything they could to try and say yes. In the end, our group chose to split, with a smaller contingent staying on, as the other option would have been a set menu of starters, whereas we were too excited to try the mains. Those of us who chose to stay were NOT disappointed! Who knew vegan ribs were a thing - or that they could be this good!!? And what a joy to be able to order Bitterballen while visiting to get the full Amsterdam experience. For the mains, we went for the juicy, cheesy burgers and the delicious satay noodles - tens across the board, no notes, no crumbs. The pièce de résistance, though, might just have been the desserts: a divine marriage of rich dark chocolate and salty peanut caramel in the snickers cake, and a perfect match of tart raspberry coulis dripping down the sides of the oh so creamy cheesecake. 10/10. If only we were locals, we would be back!

Found this little Gem as my husband is vegan. We had the sharing platter, which was definitely enough for two and then some! Staff were friendly and helpful but not overbearing. Bonus of the food being cooked smelling fabulous whilst we waited.

Had a great vegan cheeseburger with some amazing kimchi French fries. Pleasant atmosphere and staff were nice. No tree nuts in any dish which was great for me since I have a nut allergy.

The service was incredibly unfriendly. First, we were turned away at 4:30 pm, supposedly because they were closed until 5:00 pm, even though there was no sign indicating this. After half an hour, we were still sitting in the shop because we really wanted vegan dessert, and then we overheard the staff complaining about newly arriving customers and saying they wouldn't serve them. They probably told us they were "closed" for the same reason. When we left, none of the employees even looked up or acknowledged our departure, even though there was nothing to do. 👎 The two stars are only for the cheesecake, which was delicious.

I reserved ahead and enjoyed dining in at Soil, and had there summer special satay noodles. They were good but I felt portion to be not enough. The ambiance and customer service was really good even though it was busy.

A restaurant almost in the center of Amsterdam, with a nice atmosphere. The food is mediocre and overpriced for portions that aren't particularly generous. The real flaw is the slow service, with dirty cutlery and a table without even a placemat. This made everything unclean and unhygienic. P.S. The bathroom is terrible.

I walked in at 6:00 p.m., and there were more than 15 empty seats. The first thing I was asked was whether I had a reservation. I said no, and the waiter explained that every table had been reserved and they were waiting for guests to arrive. I could even see reservations scheduled for 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. I was dining alone, so I was genuinely surprised they were prepared to turn away a single paying customer despite the restaurant being around 60% empty. I said, "Wow, it's 60% empty, and you're still going to send a paying customer away?" After that, the waiter changed his mind and found me a table. I had been really looking forward to eating here and had even planned to share this restaurant on my Instagram. Unfortunately, the lack of a warm welcome left a very negative first impression. Afterward, I read through the Google reviews and realized this has happened to many other people. Management replies with lengthy explanations about why they have this policy, but I think they need to seriously reconsider it. When so many potential customers are being turned away while the restaurant sits mostly empty, it's worth asking whether this is really the best way to run a business. If you're a solo traveler like me and just looking for a place to eat on the spur of the moment, I'd recommend going elsewhere. Amsterdam has several other friendly vegan restaurants that are much more welcoming. Perhaps the restaurant is doing so well financially that it can afford to turn away so many potential customers. I did ultimately get a table, but I still left feeling bitter about the entire interaction. This is my fifth trip to Europe, and I've never encountered this before. My family owns a restaurant, so I understand the industry and the challenges that come with reservations. Even so, we would never operate this way. Making guests feel welcome should always come first. Finally, about the food. Without being biased I would rate the Khao Soi Noodles a 5.5/10. I finished it all because I was hungry but I wouldn't order it again. I make alot of Asian food at home, and sorry to say, but I can make it better.

Reservation required because it's booked out. My reservation was last minute and when I arrived every table was reserved. Still water comes in a chilled bottle with a glass. My Kimchi fried rice was delicious. A nice warm dish with flavor full kimchi, all vegan. Sprinkles of fresh green onions and a light side of shredded nori flakes all added a nice nuance to the dish. It was just right, and I left feeling full and light. The intimate restaurant is delightful, homey and modern with a nod to the home made. Loved the friendly welcome and seeing my name on a table. I felt that I belonged. Kudos chef. Dunke well Eek Smakelijk!

The burger was honestly the closest thing to a beef burger I’ve had since being vegan, absolutely delicious, melted in my mouth and had me questioning whether it was actually plant based! We were unfortunately forgotten about as we sat outside, but the food and service after that made up for it!

Although they have brought something we have not ordered and we have waited quite long for our food to be served, they were so quick to change it. The food was nice and tasty, but definitely not worth the price you pay. Also, I hate the fact they add the “tip” option on their pin apparaat. Annoyed they are pushing this American tipping culture.

We visited this place because of the great reviews, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. We ordered the two summer noodle bowls, and both were fairly average. The biggest downside was the ambience. It was an extremely hot day, and there was only one fan shared between the kitchen and the dining area. It was so warm that I genuinely struggled to finish my meal. The service also felt unfriendly. We noticed the staff being warm and chatty with another customer, but our interactions felt cold and abrupt, even when we simply asked for the bill. It may have been the heat, but it still left us with a disappointing overall experience.

Vegan food can be difficult to find when in a foreign city whilst on holiday so this café was a welcome stop on a break in Amsterdam. The menu was relatively extensive and everything was vegan. The food was tasty and satisfying.

On June 23, 2026, after our visit to A'DAM LOOKOUT, we were looking for a good restaurant and chose this one based on the numerous positive reviews. Of course, we wanted to see for ourselves, and what can I say? The many good reviews are well-deserved. Even as a part-time vegan, I have to admit that the food here is excellent. The dishes were delicious and perfectly balanced in flavor. In addition, the service was friendly and attentive, making our visit a pleasant one. While there's always room for improvement in the ambiance, overall we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We left full and satisfied and can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. Thumbs up! 👍

My friends and I went there for dinner. We can totally recommend this place, so so good. Honestly the best dinner I had in Amsterdam 🤭 I had the black silk noodles. I would recommend a reservation.

The bitterballen were very tasty and the main course was okay, but the service was substandard. We had to wait 45 minutes (!) for the main course even though it wasn't busy at all. "Your order wasn't passed on correctly," said the inattentive waitress; "Yeah hello, that was your job, young lady!" We did get a free drink as compensation, but the employee I had to pay came across as hostile rather than customer-friendly. Soil still has a lot to learn regarding customer service. They won't make it this way.

This is the good life: fantastic food, great staff, and beloved company. I was greeted with my name on a small sign on a table: I was expected and was welcome. The chef welcomed us and drew our attention to the QR code for the menu. He gave us time to choose and chatted with us. And then came the food: words fail to describe the taste explosions. For starters, we had the short ribs and pulled pork tortillas. For the main course, the Dragon noodles and the Khao Soi noodles. The cheesycake & Snickers bar completed the experience. Everything was full of flavor and served beautifully presented. At Soil, you forget that animal products exist. Soil convinces without trying to prove itself: it is simply fantastic food that happens to be plant-based. What more could you want?

Firstly, make sure you book in advance, even for lunch. We didn't and had to get takeaway as as not to miss out the chance to taste SOIL's food. Their cheesecake was proper New York style which has been difficult to find elsewhere since going vegan. The burgers were full of flavour and we thoroughly demolished them. The satay noodles were tasty, but has added chilli sauce (which was probably because we are south asian and would normally eat spicy). Not a problem but not needed either. Ribs were great too.

The Ben Ben noodles were SO incredibly delicious. I can absolutely recommend this restaurant, but it's best to make a reservation in the evening!

Their website says they take walk-ins. It is reviewed as a warm and welcoming restaurant. This was the opposite of my experience. With 4 tables empty , we were rudely turned away with no attempt to welcome us in.

We started our Amsterdam museum trip with lunch and it was sooooo good we decided to ask if we could come back for dinner as well. Museum was fun but i was already looking forward to dinner 😅. We even got some kimchi to go which was awesome. When i'm back in Amsterdam I will go here again 🤩
