The food was a little spicy, more than I would like. But it's delicious

I really wanted to try the spare ribs but they are made of seutan so it's pure gluten and I had to give up. We took the bang bang noodles and it was super delicious! Very spicy but it was what expected. We also had a kimchi rice which was supposed to be not spicy according to the waitress but it was spicy in the end...not too much but it was.. And the person who ordered was not supposed to eat spicy... The dessert was the snicker and it's soooo good. Highly recommended, the quantity is enough. Keep it up! The espresso: to forget, not recommended at all, it had a burnt taste. I went at lunch time and it was almost empty but the waitress was still a bit busy and not paying so much attention sometimes. I would go back for sure for the food, the noodles and the rice were a bit pricy. The dessert has very good price for the quality/taste and portion. Happy to have this vegan option in Amsterdam! People eat more vegan, let's help those businesses

We had a reservation, but it wasn't necessary since the restaurant was practically empty. For starters, we ordered the ribs, which were very good, and the cod croquettes, which had a very mild taste of the sea and came with a sauce that was impossible to eat due to the amount of what seemed to be wasabi. The main dishes (Chimichurri rice and Cheezy burger) were delicious. Dessert was an apple pie that was ok, nothing special. The noise in the kitchen was VERY annoying: the chef was banging the pans vigorously without caring and the blender running was almost ear-splitting. The waiter also seemed to want to be anywhere in the world but there: he wasn't rude, but he was completely apathetic and lacked initiative.

The waitress didn't even crack a smile. Go to this place if you're not in a hurry and like spicy food, because while you can get non-spicy options, they were spicy too. The menu is very small; online, they list dishes they don't have.

We ordered: ribs, kimchi fried rice, laksa, miso salad, and bali salad. Every dish was a delight and bursting with flavor! 👏🏻👏🏻

Had a delicious dinner here. Can recommend the ribs for starter, the kimchi fried rice and the ben ben noodles. And for dessert make sure you try the cheesecake and snickers bar.

Fully vegan café with a large and appealing selection of lunch and brunch dishes. I went for the “Bali Salad,” but there were quite a few other things on the menu I would’ve liked to try as well. The staff was friendly, but seemed a bit overwhelmed – one more person on the team might have helped. I found the drink selection a bit disappointing. There were only a few options (like Fritz Cola), and especially considering the small bottle sizes, I would’ve loved to see something more exciting – like a homemade lemonade or something a bit more unique. It would also be helpful to include the volume (ml/l) of the drinks on the menu so customers know what they’re getting before ordering. The Bali Salad itself was tasty and had lots of different components – great if you're in the mood for a colorful mix. Unfortunately, I really didn’t enjoy the tempeh. I'm usually a fan, but this one tasted very unusual to me – though of course that’s a matter of personal taste. The peanut sauce was delicious, but since it’s mostly on top of the bowl, it was a bit tricky to get any flavor down to the salad leaves at the bottom. Maybe pre-mixing it a little could help here. This was one of the best vegan restaurants I've been to (and it's been many). I highly recommend it!! We've had Bitterballen as a starter, Ben Ben noodles and dragon noodles as a main and the snickers bar as Dessert. Especially the Ben Ben noodles were so good!!

Super tasty food and a good selection! As a vegan you are in heaven here. But the meat eaters in our group were also very satisfied ☺️ We particularly liked the ribs, burgers and udon noodles.

We ordered the ribs, Ben Ben noodles and snickers for share. The food are well made. Ribs with crispy outside and soft sponge inside with well made sauce. Noodles also has nice balanced sauce. The snickers has soft chocolate texture with peanut and sea salt as toppings. Quite satisfied with the food!

I ordered miso ramen with mushroom balls. The food was good but a little too sweet the ramen, for my taste.

Can't really judge the atmosphere since we were sitting outside. The food was good, somethings were even exceptionally good, others kinda ok. What was really annoying though, was that some pictures on the menu did not match the food at all. The crispy chicken burger looked like big pieces of chicken, with homemade breading and like really straight from the south of the us. What I got looked like a bought frozen patty, barely comparable to something you'd get at McDonalds. The Sandwich my friend had, had the same problem. Their food was presentable, it didn't look top notch but you can improve pictures without derailing from the truth that much. It was just blatantly rude, how much they derailed from the truth on some of these pictures. It's just false advertising at that point. Really good fries though and the vegan ribs were too die for. Again, amazing taste but stupidly insulting menu photos.

Very good and rather hearty cuisine, and rather spicy. Slightly high prices And... They charge for tap water!!!???? It is definitely this last point which makes me remove one star (the other for the slightly excessive prices)

Soil Vegan Cafe West offers an outstanding vegan dining experience in the heart of Amsterdam. Delicious burgers and cheese cake

We had a very nice and delicious dinner today. Ben Ben noodles were outstanding :) We came without a reservation and were lucky to get a table, I would recommend making a reservation though. Thank you so much it was really good and had a very nice vibe.

This restaurant is an absolute must for anyone who loves vegan food or simply wants to try something new! The dishes are not only creative and delicious, but also beautifully presented. I was particularly impressed by the freshness of the ingredients and the variety of dishes – from savory to sweet, there's something for everyone here. The service was also excellent: friendly, attentive, and with a genuine passion for the food. The ambiance is modern and minimalist, perfect for a relaxed lunch.

I arrived a few minutes late for my booking and on arrival went to the bar and waited to see where I could sit since there was no one working there, it seemed, apart from the chef, he noticed me after a while and said I could just sit down as I waited for my partner to arrive. A few minutes later I noticed the staff member working on the floor return to the restaurant from the store and after a while he came to wipe down my table and say hello. My partner arrived and we checked out the menu and ordered at our table. The menu was greatly reduced and items we would have liked to order were simply not there. We took ribs and tacos to start and then Ben Ben noodles and the chicken burger with fries (which were not on the menu and also charged as an extra) a soft drink and a flat white. Our food came fairly quickly and the starters were delicious. Ben Ben noodles were the safe option and were as always, yummy. However my burger was extremely sad looking, absolutely not the same burger as in the picture on the menu, the burger I received was in some sort of crisp coating and not the batter I had expected. Honestly I was very disappointed with it and felt it was over priced at almost 16 euros for only the burger, the fries were good though. Also charged for tape water.. I think this should be listed on the menu if you wanna charge for it. All in all really disappointed in this visit, music was quite loud and the service seemed off somehow, some people were ordering at the bar and some had table service. Important to note that we used a voucher through the fork, had there been no discount I'd have been livid. We usually visit the east location and its one of our favourite places to eat but thought to try the other one this time, but it will definitely be the last time to visit here.

We had a great plant-based (vegan) meal here in February 2025 with smokely eggplant dip followed by spicy dragon noodles and a Bali salad with peanut dressing and jackfruit as well as tempeh.

Service wasn’t the best I’ve received and nobody acknowledged us for about 10 minutes, until we figured out you have to order at the bar (which isn’t very clearly advertised), but given the place was fairly busy when we first arrived it’s kind of understandable. Our drinks and cutlery were forgotten about until our starter arrived, which was slightly annoying. Food was good though (especially the ribs starter!), but the mains weren’t anything groundbreaking.

My first time at SOIL. I love that everything is vegan! 🌱 We had the Ribs as a starter which were so good and meaty. The texture was amazing. Loaded with lots of sweet barbecue sauce. This was already quite filling as a starter for two people. Luckily the cheesy burger and chicken burger we had as mains were not so huge. I liked the cheesy burger, a good classic one. My partner liked the chicken burger as well, but didn’t appreciate the sauce which seemed similar to the barbecue sauce they used for the ribs. The fries were really good. The service was good and I liked the atmosphere. I’d definitely come back (especially for the ribs). ❤️

The good thing about Soil is the quality of the food: the ribs were especially delicious and also the rice dish very tasty. However we were asked to leave at 10 PM on a Friday night as the kitchen was closed. It is okay a kitchen closes but we were never asked for a dessert while we had finished our dish already. Not even a tea or coffee was possible. So we had to find a bar (fortunately a very nice one) to finish of our meal… Very disappointing

Very tasty food, beautiful restaurant, service is ok but could be friendlier. The ribs and tacos were delicious, the miso salad also very tasty. The kimchi fried rice was good and the “cod fish” croquettes were a little bland. We arrived at 20:30 without reservation and, although the restaurant was mostly empty, the waitress was hesitant to give us a table. Kitchen closes at 21:00. We ordered 3 starters/sharing bites and 2 mains, all together; however, they were not served all at the same time as it seems that the kitchen is a little slow. We also had to re-order one item that got forgotten. No complimentary tap water (charged 3.50 for a large bottle) although we also had a glass of wine.

The Starters are Great, but the Main dishes are too pricy. Overall experience was Not good. as a vegan

I have been a vegan for 4 years, the cheesy burger was to die for. I have not tasted better in those 4 years! Just to make sure I wasn't going mad, I had to have a second one!! and wow... just wow. If we are ever going to help the world change its palate, we have to start by creating dishes that the world can enjoy and recognise. The wine, pudding and main dishes were fabulous. A disgrace. Anyone at home could cook better. Ingredients don't fit well together. Everything is too salty, so much that I couldn't finish. The udon were completely overcooked. Smell of burnt oil sticks to hair and clothes.

I made a reservation for 4 people and got a table that’s next to the door. As it was a cold & rainy evening, it was really unpleasant & cold to stay there with people constantly coming & leaving the place. I went and talked to Rafid about it. I was really impressed by his very quick customer focus and ‘no worries, we’ll take care of it’ attitude. Although they had other reservations and the restaurant was quite full, he accommodated our wish to switch our table. Rare qualities in service nowadays! He and his other colleague made the best of the shift working just the 2 of them. Congrats! And keep it up with the customer focus 🤩 In terms of food we had 4 x Ben Ben Noodles, amazing as always. Lekker apple pie as well ❤️

I’ve visited this place three times in recent months, and each time I try a new dish. Last time, I had a burger with potatoes. Those potatoes are amazing! 💦🤤🤤

Good to have all these options. Out of the 6 dishes that we ordered (3 starters, 3 mains) I only really enjoyed 2 of them. Overcooked noodles, lukewarm rice dish… Not really the best experience for the money you pay.

Suchhhhh great food. Fantastic food by a fantastic team. The guys working were extremely charming and funny, and I loved the music they played! I had the ribs and the Ben Ben noodles and my mouth is watering just remembering it. Would recommend bringing a big group of people and ordering everything to share simply so you can try all their amazing food. Thanks lads!

The food is good but the prices are a bit steep for what you get. It's more of a diner than a restaurant and the prices don't match in our opinion. The ribs and miso ramen I had were nice. Recommend both. The ramen was unexpectedly quite spicy but manageable. (This wasn't mentioned in the menu) Reservation is recommended.

Pricey and tasty food. Healthy and fancy options. Service can be better. No wifi; when the QR codes for the menu didn't work, they didn't have any printed menus.

I am very enthusiastic about the atmosphere in the restaurant and especially about the diverse and delicious food selection 😋 The staff is also very reliable and friendly. I can only recommend a visit here, but it definitely makes sense to make a reservation during typical meal times.

Super tasty vegan burgers. But you should reserve in good time. We were lucky that the nice people from the service staff gave us a table even without a reservation and so we didn't have to miss this delicious meal.

I loved the environment: decoration, cleanliness, organization, tranquility. The service was also very satisfactory, kind and efficient. I had a glass of rose wine and had a lot of doubts about which main course to order. There are so many interesting options on the menu. However, my choice was not the best. I ordered the Dragon Noodles and it was not a pleasant experience. It could have been, as you could tell that the sauce was good, as was the combination of ingredients. But it was very difficult to get close to the end of this dish. It was awash in pickled ginger. It was an absurd amount of an ingredient that is naturally very strong. The ginger masked the flavor of all the other ingredients, even though I separated a good amount of pieces. A shame, as the food could have been fantastic. :( As for the price, it is the fair, standard price charged in Amsterdam.

The service and handling were excellent, with friendly staff who looked after us well. The presentation of the dishes was also beautiful and neat, which was certainly a plus. Unfortunately, we found the food less successful in terms of taste and balance. As a starter we had kebab and cod croquette. The kebab itself had a good taste, but the cold raw vegetables and sauce did not work, and the abundance of onions (raw white onion, spring onions and fried onions) completely dominated the taste of the kebab. The cod croquette, on the other hand, was nice and crispy, with a strong sea flavor. However, the mustard sauce served with it enhanced the salty fish flavor too much. A mild chili sauce would have been better here. What was particularly striking about the main courses was that the ingredients were not well matched. The BEN BEN noodles had a delicious creamy sesame sauce and juicy udon, but the meatballs and pickle ruined the flavor balance. The bok choy was almost raw, which was a shame because otherwise it went well with it. The crispy chili oil and spring onion added a nice touch. The Laksa Ramen had a spicy coconut red curry broth that was tasty, but the vegetables (cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, bok choy and bimi) were not cooked properly. It would have been better if these had just had a perfect bite. The coriander and nori added little, and the cold, smoked tofu unfortunately ruined the whole. A crispy fried, warm tofu would have gone much better with this. For dessert we chose the cheesecake and apple pie, hoping these would save our experience. The cheesecake was disappointing because it had a thick, hard base of almost 1.5 cm, which made it difficult to cut. The filling had a nice taste and texture. The apple pie was airy and light, but a little too sweet and lacked any tartness from the apple. In summary: the service and presentation were beautiful, but the food lacked the right balance and finish for us.

We didn't book so we waited outside with a beer for 15mins, as the venue is small. Food very good quality, especially the aubergine dip. Service a little slow but I would return again for sure. Lots to try on the menu.

It's a cozy place with a wide range of meals. I tried the ben ben noodles and my girlfriend wanted it too but without any spicy which was not possible so she took the dragon noodle. :( We both enjoyed a lot our meals. I find it a little bit expensive compared to other food from the city.

Menu is very very limited, barely changed over 12 months and last time I went I had drink spilt over me, very slow service and my dish was no longer available… I love the vegan concept but last 2 experiences were just not good

Had a delicious lunch here - the vegan laksa which was just the right amount of spicy 🌶️ and tasted fresh and made with love! The staff here are brilliant and happily switched the smoked tofu (which I can’t stand) for edamame beans when I asked them to. Next to me, the lady and her daughter also enjoyed their Dragon bowls and Bali bowl - happy faces all round! 😃

Absolutely amazing food! I had the Ben Ben noodles and my mother had a salad. She LOVED her salad. My noodles could have been cooked a tad less but were still super good and flavorful. The snickers bar was TO DIE FOR, highly recommend!!! There was a noisy group of dudes next to us which the waitress ended up asking to keep it down but I wish she had asked them sooner. Literally banging on the tables and everything, kinda killed the vibe. Other than that everything was great.

Hands down the best restaurant I tried in Amsterdam. Slightly out of the center but worth the extra drive. 100% veg menu with many excellent options. I would have tried the desserts if it weren't for the fact that the portions were GIANT, it was impossible. Price in line with other local places, with the difference that you leave very full (and extremely satisfied).

When you start your day, you envision going to a fabulous cafe, having a splendid meal with your loved one, and then leaving with a smile… off to spend the rest of your fantastic free day in the city. But, if you eat here at Soil, customer service will be so bad that you’re no longer happy. Food was excellent but on August 19th of 2025, around noon, we unfortunately encountered the most lackluster server of all time. We like the chef though, she’s cool (I think). Quite unfortunate that a pure vegan restaurant like this can’t excel in customer service because I’d really hope for more non vegan diners to want to come back and not have a reason to pass on this place. Had the bulgogi cheese steak. The fries that come with it are sooooo good! The sourdough bread that it’s on is too rough for the sandwich, makes it impossible to eat. Enjoyed the Bali salad, was not light though! The latte was terrible, no espresso in it. Had asked for more and I’m not even sure she put more in!

The best cheesecake I've had in my life - vegan or otherwise. I hadn't ordered it, and I tried some that my friend ordered. I went and ordered it immediately. I'd go back just for that.
