My first time at SOIL. I love that everything is vegan! 🌱 We had the Ribs as a starter which were so good and meaty. The texture was amazing. Loaded with lots of sweet barbecue sauce. This was already quite filling as a starter for two people. Luckily the cheesy burger and chicken burger we had as mains were not so huge. I liked the cheesy burger, a good classic one. My partner liked the chicken burger as well, but didn’t appreciate the sauce which seemed similar to the barbecue sauce they used for the ribs. The fries were really good. The service was good and I liked the atmosphere. I’d definitely come back (especially for the ribs). ❤️

The good thing about Soil is the quality of the food: the ribs were especially delicious and also the rice dish very tasty. However we were asked to leave at 10 PM on a Friday night as the kitchen was closed. It is okay a kitchen closes but we were never asked for a dessert while we had finished our dish already. Not even a tea or coffee was possible. So we had to find a bar (fortunately a very nice one) to finish of our meal… Very disappointing

Very tasty food, beautiful restaurant, service is ok but could be friendlier. The ribs and tacos were delicious, the miso salad also very tasty. The kimchi fried rice was good and the “cod fish” croquettes were a little bland. We arrived at 20:30 without reservation and, although the restaurant was mostly empty, the waitress was hesitant to give us a table. Kitchen closes at 21:00. We ordered 3 starters/sharing bites and 2 mains, all together; however, they were not served all at the same time as it seems that the kitchen is a little slow. We also had to re-order one item that got forgotten. No complimentary tap water (charged 3.50 for a large bottle) although we also had a glass of wine.

The Starters are Great, but the Main dishes are too pricy. Overall experience was Not good. as a vegan

I have been a vegan for 4 years, the cheesy burger was to die for. I have not tasted better in those 4 years! Just to make sure I wasn't going mad, I had to have a second one!! and wow... just wow. If we are ever going to help the world change its palate, we have to start by creating dishes that the world can enjoy and recognise. The wine, pudding and main dishes were fabulous. Thank you Soil 😊 💓

Lovely vegan restaurant great options for Mains and starters. I had pulled pork tacos and Bali salad plus cheesecake. Wine was delicious too and waitress was very friendly plus good value

It was delicious! BLISTERED PADRON PEPPERS, SHIMEJI and BEN BEN NOODLES were all really great :) And nice staff! both in the service and in the kitchen.

Really tasty food, but close to €20 for one main dish. Great service with friendly staff, attentive and quick. Overall a good choice if looking for vegan options in Amsterdam.

A disgrace. Anyone at home could cook better. Ingredients don't fit well together. Everything is too salty, so much that I couldn't finish. The udon were completely overcooked. Smell of burnt oil sticks to hair and clothes.

I made a reservation for 4 people and got a table that’s next to the door. As it was a cold & rainy evening, it was really unpleasant & cold to stay there with people constantly coming & leaving the place. I went and talked to Rafid about it. I was really impressed by his very quick customer focus and ‘no worries, we’ll take care of it’ attitude. Although they had other reservations and the restaurant was quite full, he accommodated our wish to switch our table. Rare qualities in service nowadays! He and his other colleague made the best of the shift working just the 2 of them. Congrats! And keep it up with the customer focus 🤩 In terms of food we had 4 x Ben Ben Noodles, amazing as always. Lekker apple pie as well ❤️

I’ve visited this place three times in recent months, and each time I try a new dish. Last time, I had a burger with potatoes. Those potatoes are amazing! 💦🤤🤤

Good to have all these options. Out of the 6 dishes that we ordered (3 starters, 3 mains) I only really enjoyed 2 of them. Overcooked noodles, lukewarm rice dish… Not really the best experience for the money you pay.

Suchhhhh great food. Fantastic food by a fantastic team. The guys working were extremely charming and funny, and I loved the music they played! I had the ribs and the Ben Ben noodles and my mouth is watering just remembering it. Would recommend bringing a big group of people and ordering everything to share simply so you can try all their amazing food. Thanks lads!

The food is good but the prices are a bit steep for what you get. It's more of a diner than a restaurant and the prices don't match in our opinion. The ribs and miso ramen I had were nice. Recommend both. The ramen was unexpectedly quite spicy but manageable. (This wasn't mentioned in the menu) Reservation is recommended.

Pricey and tasty food. Healthy and fancy options. Service can be better. No wifi; when the QR codes for the menu didn't work, they didn't have any printed menus.

I am very enthusiastic about the atmosphere in the restaurant and especially about the diverse and delicious food selection 😋 The staff is also very reliable and friendly. I can only recommend a visit here, but it definitely makes sense to make a reservation during typical meal times.

Super tasty vegan burgers. But you should reserve in good time. We were lucky that the nice people from the service staff gave us a table even without a reservation and so we didn't have to miss this delicious meal.

I loved the environment: decoration, cleanliness, organization, tranquility. The service was also very satisfactory, kind and efficient. I had a glass of rose wine and had a lot of doubts about which main course to order. There are so many interesting options on the menu. However, my choice was not the best. I ordered the Dragon Noodles and it was not a pleasant experience. It could have been, as you could tell that the sauce was good, as was the combination of ingredients. But it was very difficult to get close to the end of this dish. It was awash in pickled ginger. It was an absurd amount of an ingredient that is naturally very strong. The ginger masked the flavor of all the other ingredients, even though I separated a good amount of pieces. A shame, as the food could have been fantastic. :( As for the price, it is the fair, standard price charged in Amsterdam.

The service and handling were excellent, with friendly staff who looked after us well. The presentation of the dishes was also beautiful and neat, which was certainly a plus. Unfortunately, we found the food less successful in terms of taste and balance. As a starter we had kebab and cod croquette. The kebab itself had a good taste, but the cold raw vegetables and sauce did not work, and the abundance of onions (raw white onion, spring onions and fried onions) completely dominated the taste of the kebab. The cod croquette, on the other hand, was nice and crispy, with a strong sea flavor. However, the mustard sauce served with it enhanced the salty fish flavor too much. A mild chili sauce would have been better here. What was particularly striking about the main courses was that the ingredients were not well matched. The BEN BEN noodles had a delicious creamy sesame sauce and juicy udon, but the meatballs and pickle ruined the flavor balance. The bok choy was almost raw, which was a shame because otherwise it went well with it. The crispy chili oil and spring onion added a nice touch. The Laksa Ramen had a spicy coconut red curry broth that was tasty, but the vegetables (cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, bok choy and bimi) were not cooked properly. It would have been better if these had just had a perfect bite. The coriander and nori added little, and the cold, smoked tofu unfortunately ruined the whole. A crispy fried, warm tofu would have gone much better with this. For dessert we chose the cheesecake and apple pie, hoping these would save our experience. The cheesecake was disappointing because it had a thick, hard base of almost 1.5 cm, which made it difficult to cut. The filling had a nice taste and texture. The apple pie was airy and light, but a little too sweet and lacked any tartness from the apple. In summary: the service and presentation were beautiful, but the food lacked the right balance and finish for us.

We didn't book so we waited outside with a beer for 15mins, as the venue is small. Food very good quality, especially the aubergine dip. Service a little slow but I would return again for sure. Lots to try on the menu.

It's a cozy place with a wide range of meals. I tried the ben ben noodles and my girlfriend wanted it too but without any spicy which was not possible so she took the dragon noodle. :( We both enjoyed a lot our meals. I find it a little bit expensive compared to other food from the city.

Menu is very very limited, barely changed over 12 months and last time I went I had drink spilt over me, very slow service and my dish was no longer available… I love the vegan concept but last 2 experiences were just not good

Had a delicious lunch here - the vegan laksa which was just the right amount of spicy 🌶️ and tasted fresh and made with love! The staff here are brilliant and happily switched the smoked tofu (which I can’t stand) for edamame beans when I asked them to. Next to me, the lady and her daughter also enjoyed their Dragon bowls and Bali bowl - happy faces all round! 😃

Absolutely amazing food! I had the Ben Ben noodles and my mother had a salad. She LOVED her salad. My noodles could have been cooked a tad less but were still super good and flavorful. The snickers bar was TO DIE FOR, highly recommend!!! There was a noisy group of dudes next to us which the waitress ended up asking to keep it down but I wish she had asked them sooner. Literally banging on the tables and everything, kinda killed the vibe. Other than that everything was great.

Hands down the best restaurant I tried in Amsterdam. Slightly out of the center but worth the extra drive. 100% veg menu with many excellent options. I would have tried the desserts if it weren't for the fact that the portions were GIANT, it was impossible. Price in line with other local places, with the difference that you leave very full (and extremely satisfied).

When you start your day, you envision going to a fabulous cafe, having a splendid meal with your loved one, and then leaving with a smile… off to spend the rest of your fantastic free day in the city. But, if you eat here at Soil, customer service will be so bad that you’re no longer happy. Food was excellent but on August 19th of 2025, around noon, we unfortunately encountered the most lackluster server of all time. We like the chef though, she’s cool (I think). Quite unfortunate that a pure vegan restaurant like this can’t excel in customer service because I’d really hope for more non vegan diners to want to come back and not have a reason to pass on this place. Had the bulgogi cheese steak. The fries that come with it are sooooo good! The sourdough bread that it’s on is too rough for the sandwich, makes it impossible to eat. Enjoyed the Bali salad, was not light though! The latte was terrible, no espresso in it. Had asked for more and I’m not even sure she put more in!

The best cheesecake I've had in my life - vegan or otherwise. I hadn't ordered it, and I tried some that my friend ordered. I went and ordered it immediately. I'd go back just for that.

Vegan café / restaurant. Food is okay but nothing special: nicely presented but the taste disappoints as all dishes lacked some “kick”. Desserts on the other hand were very good. Tables are also a bit too small and arranged too close to each other, it tends to get quite loud. Service was also okay, a bit slow.

I'm not vegan or vegetarian and I didn't miss the meat. The ribs and tacos were very tasty. Highly recommended. Stickers dessert very rich and a bit too sweet for me personally. The service was very friendly.

The food here is incredible! Tastes fresh and healthy. All spiced and balanced perfectly. I recommend to all vegans and non vegans visiting Amsterdam. We have visited twice.

This is a vegan restaurant that take some chances on presentation and substance. However when all the dishes I found the sauces to be overbearing and overcompensating for the fact that it's a vegan meal

Went here for lunch. Delicious vegan food!! This place is easily reachable by the tram, f.e. from. The Bulgogi steak was delicious, so were the Ben Ben Noodles. Big & filling portions. Prices were fine. Food came out fairly quickly. Staff was very kind! Would have loved a more creative approach on drinks instead of just bottled / canned drinks & lemonade.

Delicious vegan food. He had ribs and pulled pork tacos to share, and apple pie and snickers for dessert. It was all really good but the apple pie was incredible - very balanced and not too sweet, with great texture.

If you enjoy junk food, this place might be a good fit for you. However, personally, I found the options a bit too processed for my taste. It was okay, but I believe the menu has more to offer

Made a last-minute reservation for a group for a birthday. Food was delicious, nice and fast service and even because of the birthday, 2 free pieces of delicious cheese cake with candles in it! Very sweet! Thanks!

Arrived just before 8pm and was refused service because kitchen was closing yet google and the rude staff said they close at 9pm, I explained I knew what I wanted and was just me eating and I was told go round the corner there is restaurants there

When I was researching for my first trip to Amsterdam, I came across an article for "the 10 best vegetarian restaurants in Amsterdam". One of them was Soil Cafe. And though I haven't been to every vegetarian restaurant in Amsterdam, I am prepared to declare with certainly that Soil is THE BEST vegetarian restaurant in Amsterdam. I went to this all plant-based cafe on my second to last night in the city and had a meal so good that I ALSO went on my last night in the city, just so I could try more of their food. Before I get to the food, I have to say the entire staff was absolutely delightful. I am terrible with names, but there were two waitstaff, originally from Egypt and Greece, and then a lovely man cooking all of the food. All of them were so kind to me. And when I came back on the second night, they treated me like a longtime regular. The food in this place is INSANELY good. The layering of flavors in every dish is incredible. The vegetarian seitan ribs come in a sauce that will leave you scraping your knife across the plate so you can lick more of it up, a perfect blend of sticky sweet and bristling spiciness. The laksa will tickle your nose with a good punch of spice, and you'll want to drink up every drop of broth before letting them take the bowl away. But it is the Ben Ben noodles that I will dream about until I can return to Amsterdam again. Noodles in a creamy sesame sauce. topped with vegetarian meatballs, pak choi, chili crisp, and...diced pickles. When I saw "pickles" on the menu, I assumed it was a language barrier issue, and maybe it was pickled chilies or something similar. But no, these were diced up dill gherkins. Never in my life would I have thought to put dill pickles on spicy noodles. But I am sure going to do that many times in the future. I am going to try to come up with some version of this I can make at home to hold me over until I can go back. But I can't imagine making a bowl of noodles that good on my own. Do yourself a favor and go eat at this ridiculously delicious place. Whenever I make it back to Amsterdam, you will see me there!

Stopped in for a late lunch. Friendly service and delicious food. The restaurant has a very neat, clean and upmarket feel. We had a tasty spicy Ben Ben Noodles dish, as well as a delicious and fresh Miso salad. Gulpener IPA and Pilsner for drinks.

Crazy good vegan restaurant. Wanted to try everything on the menu, so we have to go back, but the first time we tried a steak and cheese sandwich, various bowls and desserts. The bowls were amazingly rich, fresh and tasty, but for me were lacking some chunks of protein/mushrooms. Desserts were unbelievably good and a lot.

A great vegan experience, recommended as one of the best vegan restaurant in Amsterdam and did not disappoint, went with a vegan friend of mine, she absolutely loved it. I usually don’t eat vegan options but the lunch here tasted like your useful meal, so recommend even if you are not vegan. And special mention to the dessert that were amazing.

All around great things to say about this place. Went for dinner and dessert, it was on the expensive side but 100% worth it for some of the best vegan food I’ve ever had. Service was also amazing with welcoming, attentive and all around lovely staff. Can’t recommend Soil enough!

My favourite vegan place in Amsterdam. I love the cheesy burger, and rustic fries are just the best I’ve ever ate. I tried few other dishes from the menu and they are also very good. A lot of beers to choose from, delicious cake for a dessert, people working there are always nice and friendly.

The restaurant was quite busy that day, but the staff did an amazing job to keep everyone happy! The kebab starter was really good, the Miso salad as well, but my favorite was the Ben Ben Noodles! Definitely one of the best Noodle dishes I've ever had :)

We had an amazing experience at the soil garden cafe west. The personal is so nice and accommodating. It’s was for a birthday and they offer the cake brought with a candle. The food was amazing I’ll be going back !!

The place is nice and chill. The food ist super (the self made kimchi was amazing) and the waiter was extremely friendly and available for advices. I surely recommend it.

Amazing place. It’s was quite busy, so the food took some time because they had too little staff, but the service was great and they communicated about this fairly. Very helpful with choices of drinks and food. Always lovely atmosphere. Kimchi fried rice is back in business. Few months ago I had it and was not great anymore but this time it was better than the ones before. Unfortunately there’s no vegan sausage again. Soil, please bring them back ❤️ One of my favourite (vegan) places in Amsterdam.

The two of us were in this small restaurant yesterday and we were completely convinced. The service was friendly and not too intrusive (which I really like). The food was just 10/10. The “pulled pork” burger is highly recommended. All in all, a highly recommended vegan restaurant.

What a gem! There are those experiences that simply stick to your mind and don’t leave you. That was one of them. Dinner for 2, blown away by the vegan ribs as a starter (although we are sceptical regarding meat alternatives, this was heaven!), Ben Ben noodles and snickers dessert. But in general, outstanding super sweet service (got invited for another glass of wine as we were the last ones before closing). Absolutely outstanding, big recommendation ♥️
