MultiVlaai Zaandam in Wijk 21 Oude Haven

If you want to order something, the staff are supposed to come to you to take your order, so not the other way around. If they did that here, they would get 5 stars from me. Unfortunately, they don't do that here, which is why this place only gets one star. During my visit, all the tables outside were still full of clutter from other customers.

Dear Management, I have always been a big fan of MultiVlaai, and particularly of this new location. Unfortunately, I must conclude that the quality and service have deteriorated significantly lately. During our recent visit with four people, we encountered a number of disappointing issues. Firstly, the shop was half-empty and there were no customers, yet the table where we wanted to sit was still very dirty. In my opinion, this could have been cleaned long ago. Because we wanted to sit on the sofa, we asked if the table could be cleaned. We then had to wait at least another 5 minutes for this. Additionally, the quality of the order left much to be desired: The vlaai: The cake I ordered tasted stale and was not fresh. The frappé: The frappé for my daughter was served in a small cup without ice. It tasted like milk instead of coffee and was not at all what we have come to expect from you. The fresh orange juice: We received this in a very small cup. When I asked why this was not served in the usual tall glass (which clearly holds more), the staff could not give me a clear answer. The service: Instead of the four ordered cakes, only three were initially brought to the table. After we inquired about this, it turned out that the staff had simply forgotten the fourth cake. We are very disappointed with this experience. As loyal customers, we hope that you will use this feedback to quickly restore the service and quality at this branch to their former level.

Me and my fianceé are very regular customers on this establishment for a long time and every time we went we were treated good and we always seat in table 11 or a bit bigger table and we were never rejected from sitting there except for yesterday when a lady ( i think the manager) had us seated in a very tiny table and explained us that the other tables are for groups of 4... as we were eating we noticed two other ladies came in and instead of having them seated in a mini table because they were two! She sat then in a bigger table. Same for another couple. My fianceé is highly pregnant and she felt very uncomfortable with this situation for I had approached the lady without being rude or anything and gave her my opinion about how we felt, she stated that i needed to understand if the other tables are for groups of 4 and I said well.. the other people have to understand as well and everyone should be treated the same then and not that you want to sit a highly pregnant woman on a tiny table but other people you seat them in a bigger table... i stated I did not wanted to cause any problems just to give my opinion as we did not felt like every other time we came. I am very sure if the gentleman that always help us was there this would have ot happend... i left that being feeling very discriminated.

We thought we were going to have a nice cake with a frappuccino here. The frappuccinos arrived, but they were more like two glasses of milk. There was no ice cream or coffee to be seen. After pointing this out, the gentleman said that this is simply the way they make it. We asked for our money back, but this was not agreed to. Very unfriendly, and this place clearly understands nothing about hospitality. NEVER GO HERE!

Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience. We ordered a Frappuccino here, but received a drink that, according to the employee, was made from frozen coffee, milk, and scoops of ice cream, blended into a kind of milkshake. A Frappuccino is a cold, blended drink in which ice is finely ground with milk and possibly coffee and flavorings. Scoops of ice cream are not a standard part of a Frappuccino; that is more like making a coffee milkshake. We immediately indicated that this was not what we had ordered and had not yet drunk any of the drinks. We therefore asked for our money back, but this was refused. The owner insisted that, in his opinion, this was a Frappuccino and told us that he had never received a complaint about this before. Remarkably, the Google reviews paint a very different picture, and there are indeed previous negative experiences to be found. What made it particularly unpleasant was the way we were spoken to: incredibly unfriendly and completely unwilling to think along or come to a normal solution. If you sell something like a Frappuccino, be clear about what you are serving. And if customers immediately indicate that it is not what they ordered, haven't even taken a sip yet, and ask for their money back, a little customer friendliness would be appropriate. For us, absolutely not a second time.

Unfortunately, the coffee here is really not very good. For a business where coffee is such a major part of the menu, you would expect a bit more knowledge and attention to be devoted to it. Perhaps it is time for a hospitality refresher course, because this was truly shoddy work. What also stands out when reading the reviews is how the owner responds to criticism. Instead of taking feedback seriously, it seems like they mainly get into arguments with guests. Not exactly professional or hospitable. Perhaps put a little less energy into trying to prove themselves right in the reviews and a little more into good coffee and satisfied guests. Ultimately, everyone benefits more from that.

I understood why the store has such a rating. The girl at the cashier is rude, sarcastic, and makes signs to third parties if she doesn't understand how to communicate with you. The fact that we don't know her language doesn't make us stupid. Also, their cold coffee was 1 gr of coffee and the rest was ice water. The worst thing I've ever drunk in my life.

I agree that the tables are not cleaned properly. The coffee was good, but the dessert was just average not what I expected from this type of dessert.

There are new deserts. So excited to try☺️

A lovely café with a huge selection of cakes and other treats. The staff was very friendly. We really enjoyed the oat milk cappuccino, the Rainbow Coffee, and the fresh stroopwafels.

I often sit here for coffee and cake, but after today, never again. I ordered and paid and wanted to sit down with my partner, but was asked to sit at another table because the female manager had already entered it into the cash register. If it’s busy, I understand, but there were still a lot of empty seats. Subsequently, she did this to even more customers who also became irritated. Suddenly, a friend came in and sat alone on the lounge sofa against the wall. I then asked why she was using double standards. The intention was to order cakes for my daughter's birthday, but I just walked on to Buter. It's a shame; I've been coming here since the very first shop on the Gedempte Gracht, but the service is nowhere to be found.

On 07-05-2026 I bought a rainbow cake at MultiVlaai Zaandam, but unfortunately it was hard and dried out. For the price, I really expected better quality. Not a good experience.

I ordered a caramel frappuccino, but got a caramel latte. Not a big deal, that can happen, but this one was SO sweet that I couldn't even finish it. The apple strudel was also too cold. Otherwise, it's a cute little shop.

It is a fairly small Multi Vlaai, the tables are quite close together. It looks very crowded. Tasty pastries and tasty drinks from hot to cold.

You get a coffee that tastes strange, only to find the milk is past its expiration date. “The boss” is actually still sitting behind us when the lady in question reports this to him. From his reaction to her, you could quickly tell that he wouldn't do anything about it himself. When my husband subsequently makes a comment about it to the “boss,” the latter tries to argue. “Milk stays good longer than the expiration date.” I don't know who you're trying to convince, but your milk was simply spoiled, regardless of what you think. You want to sit among your customers, act important, only to adopt this attitude towards them. And then laugh behind the counter at your employee, who in the meantime has also thrown the entire crate of milk cups into the trash. It would have been a small effort to admit your mistake; we really didn't need a refund. A simple apology would have been appropriate, though.

A slice of carrot cake costs 5 euros... expensive, but it should be okay once in a while. Ordered 2 slices to take away; when I got home, one slice was only half the size compared to the other slice. Absolutely scandalous!

Unfriendly staff, more concerned with themselves than with customers, I will never come here again

Today we ordered several drinks, including five coffees. Unfortunately, two or three of the coffees were cold when we received them. We immediately reported this to the staff. The employee said she could re-steam the coffee. They later re-brewed the coffee, but this time we essentially received warm milk with a little bit of coffee in it. It was supposed to be a flat white, but it didn't resemble one at all. For almost €5 per coffee, you'd expect better quality. Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience. For this price, you'd expect more care and consistency.

An amazing breakfast in an amazing place with amazing service, 10/10 for the place, the friendly service and the delicious food.

I ordered matcha but the matcha I received was cold but there were no ice cubes in it and the matcha tasted like milk so I was disappointed.

I bought matcha. But I'm really disappointed because it's not matcha, just milk. I thought, "Yeah, I'll get some matcha," but it was just milk that I drank. What's funny is that they give sugar with the matcha, and the staff were also really strange. For example, my mother ordered a cappuccino and didn't get any water with it. She asked if she could have water, and they said yes. But then another customer also had a cappuccino, and they just gave her water without her asking. My mother only got water when her cappuccino was finished. So I advise you not to buy matcha here!

Very disappointing experience. We clearly mentioned that we are vegetarians, yet we were served non-vegetarian food. This is a serious issue, not a small mistake. What made it worse was the staff’s attitude—they did not even apologize or show any concern. Completely unacceptable and disrespectful. We will not be visiting again.

We ordered coffee and a tart. Unfortunately, the tart was very disappointing — the texture was like plain bread with no craftsmanship at all, and the ingredients had no real flavor. The seating area is nice and the place itself has a pleasant vibe, but it’s a shame that the quality of the desserts and coffee doesn’t match the ambiance.

We ordered a cake (that was okay) and the famous grand breakfast for 13€ that is not as good as it sounds ( you receive 1 little piece of ham, 1 little piece of cheese, 1 piece of bread that was sold as “sandwich”, half a waffle, 1boiled egg to peel, 1 empty croissant and the tiniest glass of orange juice) and for all these simple and little things to eat we waited for more than half an hour. They had a very bad customer service. They offer some plates and bring you them something different or incomplete, and they don’t even apologize for it. Do not come to this place.

The owner is friendly, but the staff is very rude to customers. I asked her to clear the table so we could sit down. This place needs an inspection, and I'll do everything I can to ensure this, especially what I've seen. It's a shame I can't share a video here! Anyway, they don't use gloves at all. I'm going to have a cup of coffee there for 10 minutes to watch them work without gloves. They're completely hygienic, touching things here and there, but according to them, their hands are clean because they've washed them. Oh, the owner has such long nails, which isn't allowed in the hospitality industry. But if you confront her, she knows better and claims her nails are clean. And you get a backlash in return, but I'll follow up on this. If you agree with me, she's also a force, and send an inspector.

I picked up a cake here on Saturday and asked to have it cut into pieces. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone! The young woman absolutely messed it up, and the cake pieces were incredibly uneven. Think of a "good" cake as two very large pieces and three small ones, with two small ones fitting into one large one. The cake itself was delicious, but serving it to your guests was a failure!

A friend and I ordered a cool cappuccino. I ordered one with oat milk. My cappuccino was half full, unlike my friend, who ordered a regular and paid €6 for it. The staff didn't mention it was less than full or ask if I wanted something else. Furthermore, I found the staff very unprofessional and unfriendly.

Waiting 30 minutes for your panini seems like a long time. They don't have a professional team. They brought us the wrong order three times. The prices are quite high, and the service leaves much to be desired.

I've been here a few times, and twice, after a long wait, they've forgotten my order. I asked the staff several times where my order was, and they told me it was busy at the moment. After half an hour, it turned out they'd forgotten the toasted sandwich. The prices were quite high, even for toasted sandwiches. The staff was also quite unfriendly. We had a chocolate cinnamon roll and what looked like a brownie with orange juice. The prices are slightly excessive, not necessarily on the pastries but especially on the drinks. Maybe it's because we arrived late, but the cakes served were a little dry.

This has little to do with Limburg pie. The base is just tough, the whipped cream is dirty, the flavors are dull. Really poor quality, for a price you would expect fresh pie for. I advise everyone to take a closer look.

Gosh what bad staff, 0% service, like communicating with a child and so arrogant! I wanted to bring a whole cake with me to visit. Various points indicated, knife is NOT cleaned between cuts? She then takes pre-cut ends that don't look right. I indicated that I preferred new dots of the half pie. She was annoyed and refused because her manager was not allowed to do so, who was not present and also no manager was present. Two colleagues asked in an arrogant manner and blamed me. I was just attacked because I wanted normal looking dots to take with me when visiting? I left immediately, NEVER again for me. I should have read the reviews beforehand, because apparently I'm not the only one with a bad experience.

Lovely place and many choices of cakes

MultiVlaai used to be located on the West Side, a bit hidden. But this year they moved to Gedempte Gracht. I think their best decision. The location is perfect, you can't miss it. The view from the lunchroom is wide and pleasant. Staff is friendly, range is good and fresh, seating is excellent. The toilet is clean and quite luxurious. If you want a nice coffee with fresh pie, with a nice view and nice seating, then you should go to MultiVlaai.

Really such a good place to drink coffee/tea and eat a real delicious vlaai or other cake. The hosts are really very nice and friendly and the service is perfect. You can see they enjoy their work. First time at the new location, Multivlaai should have opened this much earlier in the middle of the city. As always delicious pastries and coffee, service is top notch. Maybe too many tables on top of each other??

So happy with your new location, finally a slightly larger store and in the middle of the shopping street instead of hidden in a corner. We liked coming there too. It turned out so beautiful and beautifully spacious. We enjoyed our pastry and drinks with our family.

Mooi pand, producten zien er goed uit. Had cannoli bij de koffie besteld en dat was 50% duurder dan als ik het “to go” had besteld. Echt schandalig. Je denkt ik ga daar gezellig zitten en neem wat lekkers bij de koffie maar je kan het beter eerst in de verpakking kopen en dan weer uitpakken bij de koffie.

Beautiful new building, cozy and tastefully decorated. The waitress seemed friendly when taking the order. Ordered up to 3 different pieces of pie from the menu (at 10 o'clock in the morning) but there is none?! Then ordered cappuccino with extra shot of espresso but did not receive it. The price list shows 2 prices but the girl could not explain which one I had to pay. When asked, the cheapest was the one. Went again a week later. The 3 waitresses had a lot of fun with each other but little attention to us. Asked if they had schwarzwaldervlaai and they did. I then said I didn't want it and it was served anyway. When ordering cappuccino, extra sugar was requested but not received. It was also noticeable that the delicious free chocolates were placed next to the hot cups of coffee and tea instead of being served separately on a saucer. It's a shame that the menus look old and unkempt. In short, a beautiful new coffee shop, but the service leaves much to be desired. Unfortunately, the manager gives the new staff unclear instructions and does not notice where things are going wrong in his new business. There is work to be done here, I will definitely come back purely because the interior looks super cozy.

The photo cake I ordered looked like it was made by a toddler. The photo was placed on top of an already decorated cake instead of neatly underneath the whipped cream, as is common with other bakers. The photo was printed while the store was full of customers, so there was no privacy. After an email to customer service I was only offered compensation of 6 euros for the photo. Next time I'll just get a simple cake from Dirk's. It tastes better and looks neater.”

I came here a while ago to get a piece of cake with my children, but what a rude staff that works here. Made us wait as the only customers on purpose, very unfriendly and when I wasn't looking my child was sternly chased away when she wanted to look at the chocolate, she doesn't dare come back and I will certainly never come back. Would fire the staff immediately

Delicious desserts🎉 Friendly staff

The Multi Vlaai site indicates that they deliver between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm. However, I had not set a time and the order would probably arrive later than I had agreed on the phone. I was spoken to by an enthusiastic lady from Multi Vlaai Zaandam - Westzijde by telephone and thanks to her efforts we still received the pies on time to pamper the VUmc in Hoorn. All praise for Multi Vlaai Zaandam
