NielZ Café Restaurant in Wijk 10 Binnenstad

The upstairs group room was very cold and the acoustics terrible for a team afternoon. Afterward, we ate downstairs with seven consecutive appetizers, which initially arrived far apart and later in quick succession. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was very greasy, everything with sauces, and hardly any vegetables. The dessert was very sweet, too large/too much in comparison.

Pokebowl was very simple, we've had much better many times.

A real disappointment! I had the sushi as a starter, and honestly, it was quite good for a non-sushi restaurant, so compliments on that. But when you get to the main course, you expect something better. Well... that wasn't the case. I ordered the boneless beef ribs. The meat was quite good, nice and tender, and, from what I could taste, quite a bit of care and attention was given to it, but the mac and cheese, on the other hand, was a disaster. I didn't taste any cheese, and they should have called it dry macaroni. In Twente, you call that a skande. You'd think, mmm... then it's not so bad, because you ordered the dish for the meat. That's true, but there wasn't much meat for €24, so it was a pleasure for about 4 or 5 bites, and then you could start on the dry macaroni. I don't want to criticize it too much, but when you put something new on the menu, you should expect it to be well-considered and given attention. I found that a disappointment, because I'm used to better at NielZ.

The food was great, but I was disappointed with the "new" menu. There's not much new on it, unless it's the prices, which have been adjusted (upwards, of course). A missed opportunity to make a real change so you'd have a different choice.

In a word, a shame. Ordering wasn't exactly smooth sailing. A scornful smirk from the staff when I ordered the veggie burger without bacon. Um, yeah, you'd think that's logical, but oh well, I wasn't taking any chances after being told that if you order a veggie chicken bowl, you get nuts instead of veggie pieces. Maybe it's worth mentioning? Then came the appetizer. A basket with 6 slices of sliced ​​baguette. You know, the kind you buy at the end of the day in a big bag at Jumbo, with garlic sauce and herb butter from presumably the same franchise. After sitting for about an hour and a half, at least the last half hour without a drink, we were told they hadn't started on the main course yet. (The staff were already discussing among themselves that they hadn't remembered what we'd ordered.) So, with empty stomachs and €11.50 (the two colas and Jumbo's discount) lighter, we had to look for something else. A shame.

For the first time in a long time, a bad experience: disinterested staff, a sparsely presented plate, and the food a seven instead of the usual nine. Too bad.

Sat on the terrace in the evening sun, which was lovely. The poke bowl was excellent. I think the tuna poke bowl is even better than the chicken one. The fries are a real 10! I definitely recommend this restaurant for a simple dinner on a super nice terrace.

This afternoon, I had a lovely lunch at Nielz. Warm day, lovely terrace. A snack for my husband, which looked very tasty and well-prepared, and tasted delicious. I had a Flamkuchen, very tasty...plus a basket of those delicious fries they have at Nielz. All in all, a successful lunch.😎🌞

Totally unprofessional. The service from the young staff was terrible, as everywhere else. We waited 20 minutes for staff to come around but not take your order. Good place to sit on the terrace. Right in the middle of the old market square. Good service and always a good atmosphere.

We have been there 3 times now and it really is the worst place in Almelo. Constantly asking if we can be helped. Ordered bitterballen (8) and they were thrown on the table and every bitterbal had no content and only the crust. Terrible. Service particularly bad because I wanted to pay on the terrace but had to go inside to pay while this person had an ATM in his pocket. Very disinterested staff. I think the management should sit on the terrace themselves and take a look at the mess. Dirtier tables and I will never go back there.

Had a lovely meal here with 6 people. Booked in advance. There was plenty to do in Almelo that day. It was also quite busy in the restaurant. Staff was coming and going but were friendly and handled everything neatly. The food was delicious and just enough. Plenty of fries on the side with delicious herbs and a delicious salad. A tip; the containers that the baguette is in really need to be different. This looks like it comes from the Action. Do that in style with other dishes in terms of plates. Staff could perhaps be a bit more attentive here and there, but that could also be due to the crowds. Definitely recommended to dine here.

Een schnitzel van 20 eur besteld zoals een paar maanden geleden, ditmaal viel het vies tegen een klein schnitzeltje met een berg kaas en wat gebakken groeten wat een afknapper volgens de serveerster kwam dit door een menuwissel nou draai maar snel terug dan wat vreselijk leek wel een kinderschitzel zo klein!!!!! en toch 20 euro men heeft ook nieuw servies nou je kon de koffie niet vasthouden zo heet waren de kopjes ik weet niet wat het idee erachter is maar sla voorlopig even over zit er misschien een andere eigenaar op Nielz ????

Ask for the dinner menu and that takes almost 20 minutes. You want to wave to them to pay. They wave back but it takes another 5 minutes while they are talking to a colleague. And at the entrance an employee who is busier with the phone than the people! Food was really tasty fortunately

The special coffees were served in a glass without a saucer. The whipped cream dripped over the glasses, before they were even consumed. A big slurp. Schnitzel soggy. Caesar salad in an overfull plate, with 3 pieces of chicken. There is no possibility to cut, then a lot falls off your plate. While it is 19°C outside, the heaters in the closed terrace were very high. Unfortunately not the desired experience.

Popular terrace where you can relax and the staff gives a very good service. Keep in mind that you have to wait in line when the weather is nice. Cocktails and food are very good.

On occasion, we went to NielZ with the 2 of us with the intention of having lunch here. What struck me is that there are many different rooms, which gives it a messy impression. It could also be a bit cleaner, (sticky tables). But what was especially annoying was that there was (was) particularly disinterested staff present. Waited about 20 minutes for an order to be taken, but this never happened. This while it was quiet and the staff just looks at you from behind the bar despite you raising your hand and the waitress has already walked past us empty-handed several times without looking at you. So I got my own coffee, and also paid with the message that the service could be a bit better. No response afterwards. I won't be back anytime soon.

Lovely sunny terrace. The food was tasty and more than enough, although I find it strange that you get fries on a plate with your hamburger, which makes the plate too full. It is not a daily special that was ordered. The steak was served nicely. But the rest of the experience is pretty worthless. It took a while before we were asked what we wanted to drink. It took even longer before we got something. Baguette was then served with two spreads... but no cutlery with which we could spread. We spoke to the waitress... she comes with 1 spoon instead of two and walks away immediately. Then we waited an hour and a half for our food. People who came in later did get their food. When the food still wasn't there after an hour and a half and we had been sitting with an empty glass for quite some time, we spoke to a waitress again. Something must have gone wrong in the kitchen. It can happen, but please report this. And at least ask if the empty glass can be filled (as compensation?). When we get to the cash register (because they don't come to the table with a pin machine)... you have to walk outside to show us where we were sitting. When you pay... they find out that the drinks aren't on it and we still ask what we had drunk. This part of the bill was somewhere else. I indicated that a lot had gone wrong this evening but no one responded. No more Nielz for us.

Lang geleden dat ik ergens de bediening zo slecht vond zeg (uitzondering: de vriendelijke jonge jongen!). Alles duurde lang, we moesten nadrukkelijk wenken om geholpen te worden. Geen bestek, hoofdgerecht uitserveren terwijl voorgerecht nog op tafel stond, tafeltje binnen krijgen in een ruimte waar verder niemand zat, eten was matig, nee ik kom niet terug!

What struck me is that the sign at the beginning seems quite unfriendly. (could also be purely my own 'personal view/interpretation' of it!). I had a nice date here myself, and I didn't know it otherwise, so good first impression of both the restaurant and the date. ;) For the rest, professional staff, plus the nice weather and the location, I thought it was a pleasant experience.

At first the table wasn't really clean. We asked the employee to clean it, but she did not do it properly. That's why I had to clean it myself with the napkins I had with me. The food was also not of the same quality as before. At the end I asked the employee to put the leftover food in a box so I could take it with me, but she just put an empty box on the table and I had to pack it myself. In my opinion, this behavior is absolutely inappropriate. As a customer, I enjoyed coming to your restaurant and gave good reviews. But after this bad experience and the lack of attention, unfortunately I won't be back

In the summer it is an experience not to be missed in the company of friends.

It's a great place to be! Only the controls don't work as they should. I think waiting 20 minutes for a cup of coffee/tea is a long time in a quiet time, with enough staff walking around everywhere, no fixed tables or routes. Very unfortunate. Nice menu, nice large terrace.

The food (dinner) was excellent in terms of price and quality! Deplorable service. We were not helped. Had to walk to the cash register ourselves to ask if our order could be taken and the "service" afterwards remained of a low level (snack bar level). Here a high beer done on the terrace. Tip to do! Food was very good. Beers not very special and also some more information and experience around the beers would be nice. Had lunch this afternoon with my family. To start with, they have a lovely terrace with the sun shining right on it! It was already quite busy on the terrace at 11:45 and they simply could not cope with that with 3 staff. There wasn't much the service could do about that, so I won't go into more detail about it. The Cappuccino was quite weak and the Cocktail was not at the right temperature, with the syrup overpowering all the flavors. I ordered the Tosti Amsterdam, but this was a real fiasco. Cheese was not melted, Amsterdamsche Smuluien completely dried out and the Ragout tasted as if it came from a can... The bread, on the other hand, was tasty! The 12 hours were otherwise fine, but the tomato soup was a bit on the sour side and it tasted far from fresh. We also had fries to share, but they were so incredibly salty that we left 3/4 of them. You can sit there wonderfully and it is of course THE Hotspot of Almelo, but in terms of quality they can really make giant leaps!

It was busy (Friday evening) and our group sat in a secluded position (different room). Were we forgotten? But food and drinks were good. Atmosphere was also great!

Had dinner at Nielz two weeks ago, used to good lunches, but this time it went completely wrong. Since we were going to the movies, we didn't eat too much. Both a hamburger. When it was served I was totally disappointed. A hamburger with shrinkflation (miniburger). No lettuce, no tomato, small dash of sauce. It was served on a large plate that also had fries, way too many. They were also way too salty. It really didn't seem like anything. The only thing that was tasty was the macaroon dessert. Not worth repeating. Too expensive for this minimal dish.

Completely full, there were 6 people there for lunch, 1 drink each and lunch was 100 euros, so that's fine.

Arrived at 3:15 PM and there was no free clean table to be found, no one who could even say a friendly "hello". Sitting for 20 minutes waiting for drinks to be taken was completely ignored. There was one boy from the service who often looked around in a blurred manner. Other tables were rarely asked if they wanted anything else. This can be much better.

Wij hadden het plan om hier een gezellige avond met z'n 2en te hebben. Helaas is dat voor ons totaal mislukt. Bij binnenkomst kregen wij een tafeltje aangewezen in een hoekje naast de in- en uitgang van de keuken. Mijn vriend bestelde 2 wijntjes en een glas water. Dit ging goed. Als vooraf had hij een mandje stokbrood besteld. Dit is met knoflooksaus en kruidenboter. Helaas kregen wij knoflookbrood met knoflooksaus. Vraag je netjes of het bestelde nog bijgevoegd kan worden, wordt er gezegd dat wij het verkeerde hadden besteld maar terwijl ik de bestelling nog met desbetreffend ober besprak liep hij al weg en schoof het door naar zijn collega. Misschien dat daar de fout is ingeslopen maar wij waren er klaar en hebben betaald en zijn weggegaan.

Great place for a drink or a bite to eat. We were sitting here with some colleagues at a long table, a bit of a walk and, while the place was quite full, they were busy putting up the Christmas decorations. Not really convenient with the stairs between the tables.

Niels is altijd druk en gezellig. Reserveren is wel handig. Prima eetcafé. Niet te duur maar goed om even een hapje te eten. Geen avondvullend programma.

Nielz is one of the few nice places in Almelo where you can sit comfortably and enjoy a delicious meal. There is a lot of service around, always friendly, there is plenty of choice, including vegetarian and vegan. The food is good and lots of choice.

A wonderful city and environment, where it is particularly striking how respectfully parts of the industrial history have been preserved/incorporated into the present. Cheers! This time I enjoyed my lunch at NielZ and opted for the Boeren Uitsmijter. Top! * Super conveniently located in the center. * Everything clean and tidy. * Very large terrace with heating if necessary. * Very extensive menu. Something for everyone. * Alert, correct and fast operation. * Excellent price-quality ratio. In short...a pleasant introduction that requires repetition.... Had dinner with the family yesterday and I have to say; best experience so far! Service was smooth and the food was really delicious! Tip: try the celeriac carpaccio 👍

Normally satisfied, but unfortunately not the last few times. This is the last time. We had to raise our hands every time for someone to come by, but they just don't look at you. Are they all looking at the floor or are they standing at 1 table with 3 staff members? Then a waitress drops a full drink on me and the table. No apologies, no towels, nothing. My whole coat is now sticky. :')

It was a very nice atmosphere, but the toilet was very dirty. Drinks were tasty, but I thought the snacks could have been served with sauce, friendly staff.
