If you sit at the same table with 2 people and both order a main course, you only get 1 portion of fries instead of 2. If we were to sit separately, you would both get a portion of fries; a bit of a weird concept, Nielz.........

Beautiful terrace in both shade and sun. Good seating for a larger group. After a cup of coffee, we had a baguette with salmon salad and then a smooth orange juice.

We had a family party .. I asked 5 times where my non-alcoholic beer was .. after an hour it finally happened .. The food arrived much too late and in a strange order .. all in all .. for a family party of 18 people a big disappointment

What a lovely place this is! The terrace is delightful and spacious, so you sit there in a super comfortable and cozy atmosphere. We really had an incredibly delicious meal here. The menu has plenty of tasty options to offer and the dishes tasted fantastic. What really topped it all off was the service. It was not only very friendly and welcoming, but also nice and quick. No empty glasses or endless waiting here; the service is really well organized. In short: delicious food, a cozy atmosphere, and a top-notch team.

After a walk through the center of Almelo, it is lovely to relax on Nielz's covered terrace. We thoroughly enjoyed a lunch consisting of a cheese and ham omelet and an Italian roll with pulled pork. The service was very friendly and the food was exquisite.

Had the high cocktail, it was all very tasty! A tip against food waste: finish with the cold dishes. Because you get quite a lot (a plus!), the food sits around a bit longer towards the end. Hot dishes get cold and aren't eaten, so they get thrown away. That is really a shame. Otherwise, had a great evening, highly recommended.

Pleasant terrace, good service, perhaps even a little too good. Within 5 minutes, 4 different people asked if I needed anything else. Unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. Yogurt with fruit and Cruesli: the yogurt was actually 2 balls of very thick quark. The fruit was almost entirely apple. The Cruesli was more like decoration. The toast with guacamole, burrata, and tomato was also a letdown. 1 piece of toast was like a thin layer of butter smeared with guacamole; otherwise, mostly a lot of tomato. Plus, a separate dry slice of bread on the side. Strange. All in all, a bit of a letdown.

Lovely evening to settle down on the terrace; the three of us had delicious tomato soup, mozzarella sticks, and fries with truffle mayo. The girls had a glass of wine! Only the nachos were too dry and not that tasty. We did finish everything, of course ;) Staff very nice!

Unfortunately, we were unable to pay split time during the afternoon visit because the group consisted of more than 6 people.

I cycled to Nielz specifically this afternoon to reserve a table for Saturday at 6:00 PM because I am severely hard of hearing and therefore need to sit in a good spot to be able to understand my 2 guests. It was beach volleyball, that's why the sound was louder than normal. But you could understand each other perfectly well.

Had a nice lunch despite the scorching heat. 2 people, 4 drinks and 2 lunch dishes for less than €40.

Nielz is also located at Lageveld, where you used to be able to swim nicely with the kids and eat fries on summer days, but that is now over. Nielz is mainly in it for the money and not for the atmosphere that Lageveld has. It would be better if we went to Hulsbeek now, because fries are part of the experience. My response to your comment: we are there now and they indicate here that only ice cream and drinks are available. Previously, we could always get fries here with the children, and we are with many children and youth groups. The staff indicates that fries can only be bought on weekends because it would not be profitable. Fortunately, Lageveld allowed me to just drive out for free to get fries.

Yet another time I've been sitting here for nothing; my order wasn't taken until after 10 minutes and I've been waiting for 10 minutes now. There are only two staff members, but those who are there barely pay attention to the tables. A massive fail.

Last night (once again) we didn't have a great experience.. we ordered the 0.0 pink tonic because we were driving. When they brought it, I asked if it was the 0.0, to which she replied ‘that is indeed correct’. Just to be sure, we smelled it and it turned out to be real gin after all. After pointing this out, the only response we received was ‘it was a mistake’. That is quite a big mistake, serving alcohol when it is not allowed. Then, when paying, the person behind the counter said ‘you were sitting at such and such a table, right’, after which he didn't read out the receipt, so we couldn't check if this was really the case. After paying, it turned out not to have been our table, and we had paid 40 euros too much, which was then refunded in cash.

We had a high tea at Niels's today. For my daughter. It was perfectly arranged by Niels. There was so much to eat, but it was also incredibly beautifully presented 👌 Everyone who was there thought it was very nicely done and very tasty. To top it all off, my daughter also received a bib with Niels's name on it; how lovely is that 😍. Once again, Niels, thank you so much for that beautiful High Tea!!

We had a lovely time sitting on the terrace here on a warm Friday afternoon in the spring. It's a large terrace with plenty of seats. We had a few drinks and then had dinner here as well. They also have a sort of bonus beer menu (with a QR code) that included some nice beers. The food was very tasty too. A successful afternoon.

I had a wonderful meal here with a good friend of mine. My first experience with a poke bowl in a restaurant, and what a treat it was! I highly recommend the crispy chicken poke bowl. When we were ready for dessert, a waitress came by with a tray of four choices. In the attached photo, you can see what we got. The sundaes aren't on the tray, but they are mentioned. The atmosphere is warm and the decor is like a traditional Dutch café. The service was excellent! Unfortunately, they were out of Baileys, but of course, that's not the staff's fault! We also saw a great high wine or cocktail package that we'll definitely be back for this year to enjoy on the terrace. You absolutely have to visit Niels's if you're in Almelo. 🙏❤️

Cozy bistro, excellent menu and smooth service.

Unfortunately, it was not a good experience. We were out for dinner with two adults and a 2.5-year-old child. First, we ordered drinks and a sandwich as starters. When our food order was taken (while the sandwich had not yet been served), we immediately indicated that the kitchen could proceed with the food. However, it then took almost an hour for the food to arrive, because the order had not been passed on correctly to the kitchen. After a long wait, we had to inquire ourselves when the food would arrive; it then turned out that it had not been processed correctly internally. As compensation, we received a free drink, but that was not commensurate with the waiting time and the inconvenience, especially with a small child. Furthermore, the terrace was not busy at that moment.

Drinks are served quickly, but the food takes a very long time. The price-quality ratio is completely off. Way too expensive for the amount you get. Mocktails are the same price as cocktails. Unfortunately, they rely mainly on the location, which allows them to get away with a lot. The service is generally friendly.

While I was in the restroom, a strange woman sat down at my table and ordered food and drinks. I told the staff several times that I didn't want to sit at the same table as a strange woman. Unfortunately, the staff didn't respond; they simply ignored me. This is an awkward and uncomfortable situation for me. I should add that I'm a regular customer at Nielz. I used to be a regular customer at Nielz. This incident made me feel discriminated against as a foreigner, and it ruined my day.

The upstairs group room was very cold and the acoustics terrible for a team afternoon. Afterward, we ate downstairs with seven consecutive appetizers, which initially arrived far apart and later in quick succession. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was very greasy, everything with sauces, and hardly any vegetables. The dessert was very sweet, too large/too much in comparison.

A real disappointment! I had the sushi as a starter, and honestly, it was quite good for a non-sushi restaurant, so compliments on that. But when you get to the main course, you expect something better. Well... that wasn't the case. I ordered the boneless beef ribs. The meat was quite good, nice and tender, and, from what I could taste, quite a bit of care and attention was given to it, but the mac and cheese, on the other hand, was a disaster. I didn't taste any cheese, and they should have called it dry macaroni. In Twente, you call that a skande. You'd think, mmm... then it's not so bad, because you ordered the dish for the meat. That's true, but there wasn't much meat for €24, so it was a pleasure for about 4 or 5 bites, and then you could start on the dry macaroni. I don't want to criticize it too much, but when you put something new on the menu, you should expect it to be well-considered and given attention. I found that a disappointment, because I'm used to better at NielZ.

In a word, a shame. Ordering wasn't exactly smooth sailing. A scornful smirk from the staff when I ordered the veggie burger without bacon. Um, yeah, you'd think that's logical, but oh well, I wasn't taking any chances after being told that if you order a veggie chicken bowl, you get nuts instead of veggie pieces. Maybe it's worth mentioning? Then came the appetizer. A basket with 6 slices of sliced ​​baguette. You know, the kind you buy at the end of the day in a big bag at Jumbo, with garlic sauce and herb butter from presumably the same franchise. After sitting for about an hour and a half, at least the last half hour without a drink, we were told they hadn't started on the main course yet. (The staff were already discussing among themselves that they hadn't remembered what we'd ordered.) So, with empty stomachs and €11.50 (the two colas and Jumbo's discount) lighter, we had to look for something else. A shame.

Good place to sit on the terrace. Right in the middle of the old market square. Good service and always a good atmosphere.

We have been there 3 times now and it really is the worst place in Almelo. Constantly asking if we can be helped. Ordered bitterballen (8) and they were thrown on the table and every bitterbal had no content and only the crust. Terrible. Service particularly bad because I wanted to pay on the terrace but had to go inside to pay while this person had an ATM in his pocket. Very disinterested staff. I think the management should sit on the terrace themselves and take a look at the mess. Dirtier tables and I will never go back there.

A tip; the containers that the baguette is in really need to be different. This looks like it comes from the Action. Do that in style with other dishes in terms of plates. Een schnitzel van 20 eur besteld zoals een paar maanden geleden, ditmaal viel het vies tegen een klein schnitzeltje met een berg kaas en wat gebakken groeten wat een afknapper volgens de serveerster kwam dit door een menuwissel nou draai maar snel terug dan wat vreselijk leek wel een kinderschitzel zo klein!!!!! en toch 20 euro men heeft ook nieuw servies nou je kon de koffie niet vasthouden zo heet waren de kopjes ik weet niet wat het idee erachter is maar sla voorlopig even over zit er misschien een andere eigenaar op Nielz ????

Ask for the dinner menu and that takes almost 20 minutes. You want to wave to them to pay. They wave back but it takes another 5 minutes while they are talking to a colleague. And at the entrance an employee who is busier with the phone than the people! Food was really tasty fortunately

The special coffees were served in a glass without a saucer. The whipped cream dripped over the glasses, before they were even consumed. A big slurp. Schnitzel soggy. Caesar salad in an overfull plate, with 3 pieces of chicken. There is no possibility to cut, then a lot falls off your plate. While it is 19°C outside, the heaters in the closed terrace were very high. Unfortunately not the desired experience.

On occasion, we went to NielZ with the 2 of us with the intention of having lunch here. What struck me is that there are many different rooms, which gives it a messy impression. It could also be a bit cleaner, (sticky tables). But what was especially annoying was that there was (was) particularly disinterested staff present. Waited about 20 minutes for an order to be taken, but this never happened. This while it was quiet and the staff just looks at you from behind the bar despite you raising your hand and the waitress has already walked past us empty-handed several times without looking at you. So I got my own coffee, and also paid with the message that the service could be a bit better. No response afterwards. I won't be back anytime soon.

Lovely sunny terrace. The food was tasty and more than enough, although I find it strange that you get fries on a plate with your hamburger, which makes the plate too full. It is not a daily special that was ordered. The steak was served nicely. But the rest of the experience is pretty worthless. It took a while before we were asked what we wanted to drink. It took even longer before we got something. Baguette was then served with two spreads... but no cutlery with which we could spread. We spoke to the waitress... she comes with 1 spoon instead of two and walks away immediately. Then we waited an hour and a half for our food. People who came in later did get their food. When the food still wasn't there after an hour and a half and we had been sitting with an empty glass for quite some time, we spoke to a waitress again. Something must have gone wrong in the kitchen. It can happen, but please report this. And at least ask if the empty glass can be filled (as compensation?). When we get to the cash register (because they don't come to the table with a pin machine)... you have to walk outside to show us where we were sitting. When you pay... they find out that the drinks aren't on it and we still ask what we had drunk. This part of the bill was somewhere else. I indicated that a lot had gone wrong this evening but no one responded. No more Nielz for us.

Lang geleden dat ik ergens de bediening zo slecht vond zeg (uitzondering: de vriendelijke jonge jongen!). Alles duurde lang, we moesten nadrukkelijk wenken om geholpen te worden. Geen bestek, hoofdgerecht uitserveren terwijl voorgerecht nog op tafel stond, tafeltje binnen krijgen in een ruimte waar verder niemand zat, eten was matig, nee ik kom niet terug!
