I really like Oedipus! Lots of beer choices and you can even get a growler of your favorite beer to take home. Lots of space inside and out with really nice staff. Great for groups and they have board games. I didn't get a chance to eat here but they had lots of vegan and vegetarian options for food.

The service is dreadful. The cooks are on their phones. The waitresses are on their phones. Imagine giving decent service. At least provide decent service when your place looks like a “bad-guy” vibe New York alleyway. (It looks trash) The pig on the wall is decent. That forces me to give 3 stars.

Ouch. Disappointing service that seems a bit unconcerned. It's a real shame because the kitchen does seem to put a lot of effort into the food; the burgers are delicious, and the drink selection is excellent. A quick summary of today's experience: We had to ask for service several times before we could order. Our order for a number of burgers was then delivered incorrectly (which we didn't notice because they didn't tell us which burger was which, but it all seemed correct). After eating for 5 minutes, we were told we'd received the wrong burgers for two people (and a side dish that had been incorrectly ordered, but thankfully, that was corrected fairly quickly). The bar staff then debated for a good 5 minutes, after which they asked if we still wanted the burgers we originally ordered, as they were still there. We said yes, only to have them cold. Not a big deal if you get them for free, but both burgers then ended up on the bill. And the waiter on duty even started arguing with us about it, "because there's an assumption that...", only to end it with a "Yeah, I don't care..." If it hadn't bothered you, you should have mentioned beforehand when the original burgers were delivered that they would appear on the bill, or have the decency not to include them when it was your own fault and we'd already eaten the burgers that were delivered. Let me just ignore the generally poor service that's been mentioned in previous reviews: three people are chatting behind the bar and seemingly doing little, while one person at the reception desk is supposed to take everything and repeatedly forgets, doesn't know which side dish is which, and makes other sloppy mistakes. If it's their first day, I can easily forget about them, but give them some support instead of chatting with people at the bar. Someone else eventually came to take drink orders, which made up for a lot, but not enough to push this above a 2-star rating. It's a real shame, because this has the potential to be such a great place with good food and drinks. Tip: either offer only bar service with a beep system for pickup, or use QR codes for mobile orders if people don't feel like proactively asking for help. I've seen bars and restaurants do better than this with less than half the staff, and that's unfortunately not a high standard.

Visited on 26/10. A quirky, alternative venue with good service. The beer was nice, without being exceptional. On my visit, I didn't try the food: however, from a cursory glance, it looked good quality.

They had a seasonal beer on tap that I hadn't encountered anywhere else. It had a unique flavor, a bit fruity but still strong. It was fun to try something new and truly distinctive. The staff was enthusiastic, and the atmosphere was creative and relaxed.

Great experience at Oedipus Brewing! The beers were delicious, as were the burgers and fries. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was super warm! I highly recommend it!

Great for a day out. The burgers are great. The beer is great IF you love VERY hoppy and citrusy beers. Some beers are so hoppy they taste like a pineapple soft drink! This is a new location since I last visited, with a rather less personal atmosphere. Good staff and friendly locals. DEFINITELY recommend to any visit to Amsterdam.

My favourite brewery in Amsterdam. I've always been a big fan of Oedipus and now I finally got to visit their brewery, it definitely did not dissapoint! They got a huge list of beers on tap, including their classics but also many obscure brews. The prices are very fair for a specialty brewery, although lines at the bar can be long. The place itself is nicely decorated, has great music and is really big & spacious, you never feel crampted. They also got a sjoel table and multiple table football tables (of which 1 is free). They also work in collaboration with a burger joint located on the brewerie's grounds. The burgers are the best I've ever had in the Netherlands, the line for these can also be long though. Overall its a great place to have a night out. Even if you dont life close, the metro line is within a 10 minute walk. It's definitely worth visiting!

I have been going to oedipus since its earliest days and until now I have always been torn between commenting or not commenting with mixed feelings. As of my last visit, I am sure of what I think and I would like to mention some points based on years of experience. First of all, the most negative experience is that a company in the service sector has no idea about service. The kitchen is in constant chaos and most of the time they can't manage it, so they solve this problem by not taking your order for 30-60 minutes. There seems to be only 2 service staff in such a big place. reservation management is very bad. While they don't take reservations on Google, they must be taking reservations from other places because every time you go there are reserved tables. Sometimes there can be a wait of up to 1 hour to order or to be seated. other than that, the beers and food they offer are good, of course if you can order.

We waited more that 30 minutes to order, we had to literally chase the waiter to get the order. We then had to wait another 40 minutes until we got served. Food was ok but the wait is just not worth it. The price in relation with the portions is also pretty unreasonable.

Super fun and relaxed seating inside and out, with delicious craft beers. They also have a shop with cold beers to go. The staff is super friendly.

I used to love this bar—it was my go-to place. But recently, their poor organization has been extremely disappointing. They scheduled three weekends of events in a row, clearly planned in advance. Yet they still accepted customer reservations, only to cancel them at the last minute. This shows a serious lack of consideration and reliability. If you’re planning a celebration or special occasion, I would strongly advise against choosing this place. They simply can’t be trusted to honor reservations. It’s a shame to see a favorite spot drop the ball like this.

After a lively afternoon at the Sail Festival, we took the ferry F1 and wandered over to this stylish brewery. The beers were refreshingly creative, infused with lemongrass, pepper, and other spices that added a funky twist while staying smooth and elegant. Kimchi fries made the perfect pairing: bold, tangy, and addictive. What sealed the experience was the glassware, we first spotted one of their feather-dotted glasses in a Rotterdam craft shop, which reminded us of our birds back home. That little connection made the visit feel personal and memorable.

I’m done with this place We visited once before and enjoyed the atmosphere, beer, and food—so we wanted to give it another try. Unfortunately, the lack of reliable information ruined the experience twice. The available opening hours are on Google Maps, which don’t distinguish between the bar and the kitchen. No details on their website, no clear contact options other than a form. Both times we trusted the listed hours, drove 20 minutes, only to be told the kitchen had already closed—even though the bar remained open for hours. Both times we were told, “Sorry, we’ll do better.” Two wasted trips. Time, money, and patience gone. Never again.

Excellent brewery located in an old factory, outside the historic center. Truly beautiful and spacious both inside and out. Wide selection of beers. Contrary to what I feared, the service was fast. The double burgers and the fried chicken are good. Reasonable prices (not at all touristy).

Great food, beer and vibes. The cauliflower was probably my favorite, but good smash burgers as well. Generally quite family friendly (at least earlier in the evening there were lots of kids running around) however parents of young kids should be aware they do not have very many high chairs.

It was a fine place with a bit expensive burgers that at least had a lot of flavor. It was busy so the service was a bit slow and it isn’t personally my vibe. For someone who likes beer and snack food, it’s a great place.

I was there last night with my husband and 2 teenagers. Excellent food and beer. Teens loved the table tennis and Foosball tables!! The staff are so friendly and chatty. Great place to spend our final night in Amsterdam.

Very cool location and great beer. I recommend the pilsner. The smashed burgers and fries are also highly recommended. A definite recommendation from us.

Hands down the best smash burger I have ever had. The youthful staff were awesome. Definitely a locals spot but very welcoming of tourists. Don’t miss the opportunity to have a great meal.

Brewery with it’s own cafe in an upcoming, industrial, area On the negative side: - you have to like IPA and citrus for most of their beers; - I didn’t really like the buns on which the burgers were served. On the sunny side: - friendly staff; - when the weather is good you can sit outside; - this atmosphere reminds me of Berlin’s Eastside; - the cauliflower is divine.

Poor service. Refused to let customer order separately. Pretended not being able to redo the order. Dictatorial and inflexible. Not fit for international customers. Typical Dutch arrogant and inflexibility. Burger bun is wet and saturated by juice from the meat and ingredient. To be honest, the burger is average by Dutch standards, but compared to places like London, HK, Singapore or Malaysia, where food is actually civilized, prepared, and are flexible to let the order done separately. If you're not in Amsterdam Nord, don't bother. Many other shabby chic places, including in Centrum. Underwhelming.

Oedipus has a beautiful new terrace, and the atmosphere has remained pleasantly relaxed. They have good beer, tasty burgers, and often have live music and events.

It is truly magnificent here. Very cool, artsy and relaxing vibe. A lot of bands playing every week, good burgers and of course excellent beers. Good for a party but also just relaxing with kids. Highly recommended!

The sunny terrace is perfect for sipping a cold Polyamorie (especially if you’re into slightly sour brews ). Unique events and always friendly staff. I also bought an awesome Mannenliefde t-shirt at the Spätkauf (& some beers to go hihi).

Favorite spot in Noord. Ice-cold beer + delicious burgers + sunny terrace + fun programming. A real top tip for a great night out.

Good beers, amazing venue with view on the brewery inside and a large closed terrasse -1 star because the burgers used to be amazing but yesterday the chicken was dry, tasted old and overcooked. In the past it was super juicy and great! There was also lots of dill in the chicken burger, which was not mentioned and quite surprising

Delicious beers and lovely staff. We highly recommend the man love beer, the sichuan pepper really shines through. The burgers also looked and smelled amazing, sadly we did not try them out. The atmosphere is really pleasant.

I'd heard the myth of this place and thought I'd check it out while in Amsterdam. Upon arrival I got in a quarrel with a beer named Gaia (known by some as Laius) who I quickly killed and then solved a riddle to save the brewery. As a thanks they presented me with a new beer Bride and I felt a real motherly bond with it. Unfortunately, the beer found out about being soo motherly with me and hung itself upside down into my gullet! I then got a few more beers until I was blinded....all in all a real good mythical place.

It's a little overpriced, like almost everything in Amsterdam, but we should say that the place is cool and it's a good alternative in Amsterdam Nord for grabbing a beer one afternoon

Like others have said, we went for a burger and were told the kitchen is too busy and we couldn't order, because it was a hot day! We were told to wait almost 2 hours passed People around were ordering, we were only 2 people and saw tables with 6 and 8 people order and get their food. The staff didn't care much and were casual about not taking our order for hours. What a horrible way to manage a business and your customer. Most of all, even if the burgers were hard to deliver, it's kind of inhumane to not even have fries, or snacks available, any type of food really when you only serve alcohol. Our stomachs were ruined.

On this splendid may afternoon, we decided to take on an adventure in this magnificent part of Amsterdam. We were walking in what seemed to be a pretty bland neighbourhood, until our eyes made contact with a mysterious opening, leading to what seemed to be a glorious oasis, which even the bible hasn’t managed to put into words. We had a marvellous amount of alcohol before we ventured onto the pingpong table. Literally onto? One might ask. Yes. It broke, so we either had to leave a good review or do the dishes. Guess which one we chose. One special mention for the small guy with black hair, Jonas was his name. Looked really handsome, was very friendly and recommended the best beers. This was a very easy task because everything is a treat.

Lovely waitrons who spoke English. Games shelf, table tennis and foosball tables. Smash burgers with big flavours that didn't fall apart. Delicious beers and low alcohol options. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.

Lousy service… Last Saturday we made a reservation to drink a beer and eat a burger after a day in Amsterdam. When we sat at the table we were told that the kitchen could not handle the pressure so there was no food. Do not call in advance or report immediately upon arrival… Then we drank our beer because we had already ordered it. Tasted great. At some point people around us were able to order food again, but no one came to our table. We walked away quite annoyed and filed a complaint. To be honest, the manager didn't seem to care much. Not really a sincere apology, he did take 1 of the 3 beers off the bill as compensation. Then you still have to look for a staff member to settle the bill. In short, worthless. A shame, because the burgers looked good and the beer tasted great.

Dramatic, reserved table at 7 o'clock to eat. The waitress casually reported that the kitchen was overwhelmed and could no longer cope. Happened often. The very disinterested hipster who had to pass for a manager shrugged his shoulders, it can happen, we are still experimenting a bit in the new season. No sorry, nothing and people around us were able to order. Never go again.

We came at 22:00 we wanted to have a beer there was still one table and the place said its open till 23:00 but the staff where unfriendly and didn't let us have the beer. Very disappointed HIGHLY NOT RECCOMENDED

Came here in a group of 4 at 17:38 and was hoping to mainly get some food and drinks after. However, when at the bar to order they said that the kitchen was down and was not going to serve food for another 10-15 mins. We were told to find a table with our menus and they will come and take our order when they can. At 17:45 we ordered a round of drinks and patiently waited. The lady had still not come to take our order, so we decided we would get another round of drinks. It now hit about 35/40 min mark and understandably we started to become concerned. Our friend went up and asked another staff member as the lady from before went on her break. The member of staff said that the kitchen is no longer serving food from the menu they gave us but another menu will be available in 20-30mins. The time now was 18:50, we had now waited an hour since we were seated to order our food. What broke the camels back was that there was a table of 2 who came in 20 minutes after us, managed to order food and receive it whilst our duration. To me this sort of service is appalling and I understand things can happen that’s out of their control, however I think that they should have informed us that they were no longer serving food from that menu the instant they found out, and not from us having to go up multiple times. In addition, the kitchen being down was now clearly not true as the table of 2 next to us had got their food ?? Worst service I have ever received in any country honestly. I did go and speak to one of the managers about it and he offered us a free drink, but I honestly did not even want to stay there any longer. I don’t blame him, however the poor organisation and communication needs to be improved massively!! Can’t comment on the food as we did not receive any.

Terrible service! They kept us waiting over an hour saying that the kitchen took a break, and after an hour they said it will be closed for 45 minutes more, on a Saturday, without any apologies. Their service quality has always been poor, but it’s ridiculously terrible now. We will surely never go again.

The nicest and most colorful brewery in Amsterdam. With a lot of unusual beer styles and delicious food, this is a must visit.

We reserved a table through ZenChef for Friday at 9:00 p.m. When we arrive (at the established time), they tell us that we cannot sit down, that they have closed the kitchen and that they are very sorry, but that we have to leave. We told them that if they allow reservations at that time, it is not normal for us to arrive and be kicked out. A shame. Very little professionalism.

A creative brewery with a colorful, relaxed atmosphere. Their craft beers are surprising and innovative, from fresh IPAs to experimental sours. The taproom is playful and cozy, with friendly staff and great events. A must-visit for craft beer lovers!

Most delicious burger in whole Amsterdam!

Had a wonderful Saturday evening at Oedipus. The Beef Chief makes phenomenal burgers, I will definitely be back for the Kimchief. My partner opted for a vegan burger, but that was not recommended. The kimchi fries were on the salty side but very tasty, and the fried cauliflower was the best I've ever had. Nice informal atmosphere, you get your beer at the bar (always a nice selection at Oedipus). Service was also excellent - top tent. Very cold in the winter evenings because it is an old warehouse/garage, so wear a thick sweater.

Kimche burger was AMAZING. I sat at bar and bartenders we super nice and chill. Great vibes overall. Yummy beer. Separate nonalcoholic drink bar with great selections.

It says open on Saturday from 2pm on their website and at their door. We just found some closed doors at 2:30pm. They are not serious.

American visitor. Some of the best beer I've had. The location is close to the hotel and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Experiences like the one provided by Oedipus are what I look forward to most when traveling abroad.

Be careful to book because it is a well-known address and around 7 p.m. it is full. The burgers are excellent! And a portion of fries for 2 is more than enough! Lots of choice of beers, and it's very festive, with the music a little loud but above all it's more of a bar than a restaurant
