Funny café, but too impersonal for me.

Delicious, healthy food in a relaxed atmosphere with a small menu. Something different from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Many types of beer that you will find virtually nowhere else, from alternative breweries. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. The food is vegan, so I'll skip that.

Great staff, good food and a lot of fun events going on. Also, quite vibey considering the ract it's an enormous space.

Love the food and the atmosphere

It was nice, we had a gathering there from work with a bunch of people. The music wasn't too loud, so we could understand each other. Most servers were super nice and helpful! One of them was a bit grumpy, but I guess that could happen to anyone at some point. Still it happened multiple times, so hence the 4 stars.

Loved going there. Did not have food but it looked like a good place for get togethers. We had the Utrecht Pils and other people in our party had Refuse / Resist Double IPA. Will become our local drinks place when in Overwecht visiting fam. Big Tv’s for sporting events. Loved the beer!

Oproer Biercafé is a solid place to go for a beer. Inside it’s comfortable and relaxed, and they have a nice selection of beers, including their own Oproer beers on tap. It feels like a proper beer café without being too fancy or overdone. I’ve also been here once for a comedy night, which was fun and had a nice atmosphere. It was a small setting though, so don’t be surprised if you get involved a little bit during the show. Overall, a good spot for a casual drink and a relaxed evening.

Somewhat too many alternative products. 25 mg of caffeine in the supplied cola, on the other hand, is definitely unsuitable for children. Otherwise, a fine place for a serious or social moment.

The vegetarian bitterballen and the burger were amazing! As a meat eater, this is the first time I've ever had such delicious vegetarian food.

The beer is great, and so is the service. The atmosphere is a bit too industrial for me, but it could certainly do with being a bit busier here.

I have been coming here for years; the beer is great and I’ve always had a lot of respect for the owner and the regular staff. However, I am deeply saddened by what happened recently. During an event, the Oproer 10th Anniversary on 18 April 2026, I was unfairly accused of 'staring' by someone from a temporary guest stand of Kaapse Brouwers. Instead of mediating or checking the CCTV to verify the truth, the manager—who knows me well—allowed these guests to dictate who should stay and who should go. He let outsiders take control of the house, mistreating a loyal regular and deciding on my removal based on a lie. It’s disheartening to see that years of loyalty can be dismissed so easily just to please temporary guests. I truly liked this place, but I don't feel comfortable returning where my integrity isn't valued. I will not be coming back as long as this person is the manager

The quality of the food is was very low. The burger was not cooked well, it was too wet, and too cold. The fries were cold. It was not possible to split the bill.

What an ENORMOUSLY nice place this is. So relaxed, super friendly people, and a really nice atmosphere. I really love Oproer. I celebrated my birthday here and it was a success! The custom-made cakes were delicious. I just find the rest of the food on the menu way too salty, like the shawarma and such. But anyway, all in all a top-notch spot with lovely staff.

Normally fine coffee, but disappointed today after boiling hot coffee, then lukewarm. :( :(

Had a delicious meal and the kids played

I ordered a gekke bessen lemonade from roze bunker at oproer recently. Big mistake! There was almost no syrup - the liquid that I received was a grayish pink instead of the vibrant pink this drink is supposed to be - and the sparkling water that I had paid extra for had sadly lost its sparkle. I asked the person at the bar whether they could add more syrup and maybe some sparkling water that wasn't flat, but unfortunately they took this as their cue to just add more sparkling water to the leftover already flavorless beverage. This made it taste worse, especially considering the newley added sparkling water was also flat, even though it did come from a new bottle, but I felt bad sending the drink back one more time. Next time, I will order a beer.

We celebrated a wonderful birthday here (with a few children). The ‘living room’ with the kids’ corner was occupied, but we still had a great time in the ‘drinks corner’. The children could entertain themselves behind there with table football and shuffleboard. Family members had dinner there after the drinks. Most of us eat meat, but we were very enthusiastic about the (vegan) food. The apple pie and charcuterie board were also delicious. Moreover, it is nice that you can park around the corner (for free). There could have been a bit more waitstaff, and ordering had to be done at the bar. However, the staff that was there were incredibly friendly and helpful.

Unpretentious, a bit like feeling at home

It was a traumatic experience. The burger didn't want to be on the bun, not on your tongue, not in your esophagus, not in your stomach. Nothing and no one wants this burger. This burger simply wanted to, and should have, stayed attached to the plant.

It's unbelievable that a place like this actually exists. A huge place, with all sorts of people, including children playing. Good beers from Oproer and others. Delicious food (bitterballen, fries, etc.). You can play and relax. Awesome!

Really awful food... We ordered a snack platter, and according to the menu, it said "nachos with crème fraîche, focaccia with dips, truffle cheese, feta, bitterballen (meatballs), and olives." The crème fraîche wasn't there, so we got dry, unsalted nachos (which were also really weird nachos...). The so-called truffle cheese and feta were both vegan without asking, and incredibly tasteless, with a terrible texture. We wondered if we'd accidentally mistaken a cube of butter for cheese and put it in our mouths. It didn't taste like truffle, so I have no idea if it was supposed to be vegan truffle cheese. The feta was also really tasteless with a strange texture, not salty at all. I don't know what it's made of, but just serving vegan food when you're not expecting it can be really dangerous if you have a soy allergy. Bitterballen were fine. The baba ganoush with focaccia was fine, but strangely warm? Such a shame, I expected more. Definitely a basic snack platter.

Superb bar, good place for group meetups

The food was really bad and the price-quality ratio was poor. The meat substitutes were very dry and salty, and cheese sauce should be banned. It's a cozy place where you can chill and play games.

It was a great experience and they had a huge variety of beers. I'd give it a 4.5 star rating. I was a little surprised that such a cozy and delicious beer bar was open until 11:30 PM on a Saturday. They could probably stay open longer to increase revenue, but I'm sure they have their own reasons for that.

I got reccomendend a 250ml beer which turned out to be 14,90.... I would say decide yourself what you'd like. In any case don't fall for the Cantillon Kriek Lambiek scam

One of my favorite places to grab a (gluten-free) beer close to home. Relaxed atmosphere and always a spot!

A bit out of the way, but definitely worth it. They're not afraid to experiment with food or beer!

Really nice pub! Excellent craft beer from Utrecht in alot of varieties. The service was just great and the local as well. Didn't try the food but there'd alot ofvegan options. I can really recommend this place! 👌

We had a great evening. 5 stars for the food and service. The two stars are really for the final bill. We drank the New England IPA the whole time. On the fourth round, we realized, after a few sips, that we'd been served a different beer. We complained because it wasn't good. This was correct; they had given us a different, "similar" beer. In the end, we had to pay €25 for this (according to the manager), because it had already been served. After a long discussion, he couldn't understand why I didn't want to pay for it. If you order the same beer every time and get a different one without any explanation, it seems strange to me that you have to pay for it when you return it. Long story: genuinely good service from the two waiters. We probably misunderstood each other. I only think the manager's service deserves one star. We spent €160 on food and drinks. It's strange that we have to pay an extra €25 for a misunderstanding on their part.

Beautiful restaurant, great location, lovely large, bright space, tastefully decorated, lots of different drinks, etc., great service, and a pleasant atmosphere. In short: a great addition to Overvecht. We'll definitely be back.

Nice place to eat (all vegan!), have a drink or just hang out. Service sometimes leaves something to be desired, but it doesn't stop us from going here again and again. Local pub.

We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at 'Oproer' with a board game afternoon, ending with dinner. The space was good. The atmosphere was great. Communication with the staff, both during the event and in the pre-arrangements, was very smooth. The food and beers were delicious. And I could go on and on. A great success. Thanks to Oproer!

One of the best burgers I've ever had. Trippels are good too.

We went to this restaurant with a group of guests. Even though we had made reservations in advance and informed the restaurant, they were completely unprepared. I had to wait over an hour for my burger, and a friend even waited for a simple can of beer. There were only two staff members in the kitchen to serve over 20 guests. That's really subpar.

The service was really bad. We ordered two dishes in one order, but it took over 45 minutes and the dishes didn't arrive at the same time. There was even a half-hour difference between the two.

Comedy night. Mixed feelings. Dinner came after 50 minutes. It was very tasty, though. Then there was no time for dessert, which we awkwardly squeezed into the auditorium. The seating in the auditorium wasn't ideal, so we didn't see much. Unfortunately, we didn't laugh much either. Of course, respect for the courage on stage, but unfortunately, it wasn't a success. (For us, anyway). We even left a bit earlier and called it a night. The venue is still fun!

Good atmosphere and delicious food

Nice place, open and relaxed, the food was lukewarm/cold twice, which was a shame.

I am not the customer but the resident upstairs. I really don't understand why a bar is opened under a residential building. Every day there is a very loud noise, people chatting, and playing the music. Especially the vibrating Dong Dong Dong sound . This makes me feel very uncomfortable. I hope you can pay attention to this. Maybe add more sound insulation measures. I am really uncomfortable now, since as a person with palpitations and severe depression and anxiety, I feel very very very uncomfortable. I will also send an email to the apartment to discuss measures. I think I am not the only resident who is suffering this

I love coming here with my daughter and children. They can play and run around, and we can enjoy each other's company while drinking an Enigma Beer and eating fries... come and enjoy yourself and sit on a secondhand piece of furniture...

Very cozy and casual. Great 'pub food' and everything vegan 'but still' incredibly tasty. Especially the fries are perfect! And a wide choice of delicious beers on tap.

Nice atmosphere and regular events

Information evening, plenty of parking space nearby. There was a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff.

The food took an incredibly long time. When it was on the table, none of us understood why; it was ridiculously simple food and also got cold.

The room was half empty, but an employee complained about crowds. We waited for our food almost whole hour. Cocktail I ordered was available on the website but actually not.

A great place to hang out. Whether you just want a beer or a coffee or a snack or a full meal, it's a relaxed place where you can easily spend hours lounging around. Tables and sofas, so you can choose whatever suits. Also has a play room for children in one corner, so seems to be family-friendly. Updated to add: it pains me to downgrade my review, but sadly they can't seem to decide or publish what time the kitchen closes. If you're going there in the evening, you can't rely on them selling food, even if no special events are on. So if you're hoping to eat any time from 8pm onwards, it's probably not worth the risk of having to trudge home again disappointed and hungry.

The best burger and fries! Update: What was wrong with the classic burger!? They removed the best burger from the menu and put spicy cheseburger supposedly with the same patty but definitely not! We would come here just for the burger but lost us :’( not even talking about the increased prices

Beer café in a somewhat industrial setting, very large. If you like beer and/or organized evenings (games evening, pub quiz, etc), then you've come to the right place. Eating is really a drama and I cannot recommend it. Quality varies, but quite pricey for what you get and often the food is cold when it is served. Things don't go well, especially on busy evenings. This is partly due to the lack of staff. Moreover, my annoyance as a boomer: ordering with QR code. Awkward if you have a comment about drinks/food (although the beers on the menu are well described). The music is a little too loud for good conversations (but where not) and not every table is comfortable to sit at.

An industrial look and feel. One server who takes all the orders and someone else who brings it. Makes things a bit messy who has ordered what. Because it was busy, food took quite awhile and if you like to eat meat then Oproer isn't something you should try as its all plant based. The selection of non alcoholic drinks is limited AND it's not from a big brand so if you order a coke and expect to be a coke you might get disappointed.

Nice large place, making it possible to sit together with a larger group. Various seating areas and tables, very nice. It's a shame that in many places the speakers were very loud and so you couldn't really hear each other everywhere. Nice unique beers and enthusiastic staff.

The space is large and an attempt has been made to make it cozy, but it remains a concrete box. Location is a bit unfortunate with few other catering establishments nearby. Large selection of our own beers on tap makes up for a lot.

Super fun location for a party! We celebrated a big birthday party here. First dinner with some family, then drinks and dancing with friends. We could decorate the room ourselves and were allowed to bring a silent disco. During the preparation they helped us often and well with all the questions we had. It is a large building, so the location is not exclusive, but that was not a problem for us. Also child-friendly; they could walk around freely, dance and play games. All in all very flexible and relaxed!

The beginning of our experience was bad, then luckily it got better. We had never been here before and had made a reservation. When we arrived there were a number of employees standing together who didn't really have anything to do, but we weren't even looked at or greeted even though we had already been inside for a few minutes. Then we asked if we could sit somewhere and that was ok (but still not a friendly welcome). After waiting 10 minutes at our table, we discovered that there was a sign with a QR code and that we had to order ourselves instead of someone coming to take our order, they should have told us... The food was really good, nothing to complain about. Later it became a bit busier and other staff arrived, then we discovered that orders were indeed taken at the table, which made our experience at the beginning even more negative. So the food here is really good, the service apparently depends entirely on who is walking around.

We were hoping for a quick drink but 70 minutes after ordering (and paying), we still had not received anything. At that time, we decided to go. Even though they hadn't made our drinks, they did not want to give our money back. That is not how you treat your customers!

Great place in Overvecht. Exactly what the neighborhood needed. The best evening is the pub quiz evening, but you can always walk in (or stay outside on the terrace if the weather permits). Own beer is fine, maybe a bit on the expensive side, but so be it. Highly recommended.

Good atmosphere during a Euro 2024 match with a victory for our Dutch friends

Kitchen closes at 8pm. Keep in mind. Orders only via the online ordering function or at the bar. Because of this we missed the 8 p.m. closing time of the kitchen. Nice place, good atmosphere and great beer.

Heel leuke sfeer, het vegan eten is veelal gefrituurd en niet super smaakvol. Wel grote porties. Voor smack en biertje helemaal prima. Personeel is lief maar niet allemaal even kundig.

Went there for a very late lunch/early dinner. Unfortunately my first two choices off the menu weren't available nor was one of the beers listed on their website. The burger we eventually had was good though and the fries were excellent. It was very quiet due to the odd timing so not much atmosphere yet but certainly had eclectic decor and more than enough seating.

Nice place though. Sometimes a bit empty in terms of people. Friendly staff but a pity they don't speak Dutch, they could learn at least two sentences and show that they are trying.

Location is excellent, beautiful industrial building with lots of space and a great atmosphere Drink: In terms of beer, of course 'limited' to a range from our own brewery. However, the choice of other drinks is also quite limited, for example you cannot get a cup of tea. (Hot water with all kinds of herbs/fruit.) Service: is nice, but almost no one speaks/understands Dutch. Seems to be quite normal in the Randstad, but remains strange and inhospitable as far as I'm concerned. Clearing the table doesn't happen automatically here either, you have to ask for it and that is annoying. Food: The classic burger (vegan) was tasty, but quite pricey for what you get. The snack board for 2 people was really mediocre, with two lousy strips of bread, and the price was downright outrageous. For that reason alone I wouldn't go there again anytime soon.

Biercafe Oproer. Wanneer is er sprake van Oproer? Dat mensen in verzet komen, meestal tegen de Overheid. Als bezoeker van het biercafe Oproer kom ik in verzet tegen het karige duur betaalde borrelplank. De plank zelf heeft een dikte waar een vestingspoort uit een middeleeuwse stad jaloers op zou zijn. De ingrediënten die er bovenop lagen zou zorgen voor een stedelijke hongersnood. Voor de hygiëne rondom de toiletten zou ik de richtlijnen van het RIVM eens nagelezen en uitvoeren. Wat goed was, is het bier. In vroeger tijden was dit beter in een stad, dan het water.

Un-Utrecht's large cafe from the Oproer brewery (which is located elsewhere). Many students, but not only. Also families with and without children. Nice design so that there is a corner or corner for everyone. In that respect, the atmosphere at times approaches that of a pub. Beer is of course from Oproer and partners, but that is no punishment. The food is vegetarian, but that's no problem either, the bitterballen in particular are highly recommended. Ordering is easy and very fast via a QR code. All in all, an asset for Utrecht and especially for Overvecht.

Had a very nice evening here with my work merger drinks. Despite the large space, it still feels cozy due to the use of natural wood. Very nice cafe!
