The atmosphere is great. The service is friendly. My favorite dish is number 2450, highly recommended!!! I recommend everyone to come and eat here.

I like the shrimp dumplings (hao kao) and crispy shrimp dumpling. The interior is also really cute and cozy.

Food is excellent but everything you order comes at the same time, so some dishes get cold while you are trying to eat the others. Everything is rushed which makes it rather an unpleasant experience. Feels like a fast food restaurant. Been coming here for about 20 years and we can now see that without our long-time regular waiter Ayan, the service is really poor.

The environment is spacious and comfortable, and the service has improved somewhat. The Cantonese dim sum is as high-quality as ever, you won't be disappointed, and it's similar to mid-range morning tea in China, which is quite good.

The jade tofu is especially delicious; I rush over whenever I suddenly crave it! The dim sum is also very good, very similar to what I've had in Guangzhou. It's the best Cantonese food in Amsterdam, hands down! ☺️

I’ve been to a lot of dim sum places around Amsterdam, but Oriental City still hits that perfect balance of quality, tradition, and atmosphere. You can tell the food is made with care — the har gow are fresh and delicate, full of flavor, and the siu mai are always perfectly juicy. Service is quick and attentive, even when it’s packed (which it often is). It’s one of those spots that feels alive — families sharing big round tables, trolleys clinking by, and staff chatting in Cantonese. That energy makes the meal feel authentic and comforting. Definitely go for the roasted duck if you have space — it’s beautifully crisp and flavorful.

I’ve tried many Cantonese restaurants in the Netherlands, and this was unfortunately one of the worse ones in terms of taste. The 鲜竹卷 arrived without gravy, which is weird, the sauce is standard and without it, the fried tofu skins were very dry and tough. The 干炒牛河 was bland and completely lacked wok hei. The rice noodles were overly thick and there were hardly any spring onions. The 流沙包 was another let-down: far too little salted egg yolk filling, leaving it dry and bready. We also ordered half a roast duck. At €24, that price could be justified if the quality and portion were there, but they weren’t. The serving was very small, with barely any meat and far too much skin and bone, and to make matters worse it was overcooked and almost black? Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant and think it's overrated.

Dining here was a fantastic experience! It's a very classic Cantonese restaurant, and we ordered red rice rolls, crispy roast pork, and braised beef brisket with radish—all of which were delicious!

Very authentic Cantonese cuisine, the taste is absolutely fantastic! I especially recommend the red rice rolls, steamed sea bass, and the roast meats are also delicious! The Hong Kong-style milk tea is great too! The service is excellent, highly recommended!

Thank you for your response. Asking other guest if they are member was too much for your staff. They assume things. Now using my post to promote your membership registration is bit too late. Once again your text is misleading instead of blaming on me. Becarefull members when asking for the receipt, dishonesty while charging for chinese tea while promoting it is free for members. Disappointed when we ask to explain and not willing to compensate and pointed at us like it was our fault. It is not that I read it wrong (see phot) but it is indeed the restaurant who is misleading. It is hard to do business by trick your customers. I recommend not to come to this restaurant without feedback from them. Also on prime time saturday we feel a bit like to rush out of the restaurant to make place for other. But this is a capacity issue of the restaurant and not a customer issue. Once again please reconsider when book this restaurant! Members should be careful when asking for a receipt, dishonestly charging tea money at the same time, and at the same time advertising that it is free to members. We are so disappointed when we ask for an explanation and are unwilling to compensate and point to us as if it was our fault. It’s not that I got it wrong (look at the photo), but it’s because the restaurant is misleading. Do business by deceiving your customers. I don't recommend this restaurant. Even during top hours on Saturday we felt a little bit like rushing out of the restaurant to find tables for other people. But this is a restaurant capacity issue, not a customer issue. Again please reconsider booking this restaurant!

The food was superb. They were better than some dim sum restaurants in Hong Kong. I am from Hong Kong and had been eating in a lot of dim sum places in Hong Kong. Particularly the red steamed prawn Cheungfan was a must. The taste was great and the choices were good. Not as many as in Hong Kong but enough to enjoy a very good meal.
