Pakwaan Indian Street Food in Randwijck

Very disappointing experience. We arrived at 8:52 PM, including a child, and asked for a table. The host told us that they had a reservation for 11 people and therefore did not provide us a table. What was frustrating was that there was plenty of space available inside. The host did not welcome us nicely, and the overall interaction felt very unwelcoming. We were hoping for better hospitality, but unfortunately, this was a very unpleasant experience.

Arrived on Sunday evening and ordered takeaway. The curry was so delicious. You can ask for changing the rice to naan, which also tastes great with the curry.

Amazed by the quality of the food every time. I think it's the best Indian restaurant in Amstelveen. I don't think I've eaten everywhere yet, and I don't know much about Indian cuisine, but everything here is delicious.

Dishes come without serving of rice, you pay extra for it. Below expectations, won’t be back

We visited this restaurant for the second time once about two years ago and again the day before yesterday. They have clearly modernized the place, but the food is still absolutely amazing. If you love Indian street style food, but also want something authentic, you definitely have to visit Pakwaan Restaurant. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the service staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, especially Kuncho. I’m not completely sure if I spelled her name correctly, but she was really kind. For me, this is simply the best Indian restaurant in the Amstelveen area. When the restaurant is full, there might be a bit of waiting time, but it is definitely worth the wait. Absolutely delicious!

Great food, very nice Staff and good location in a small shopping area

What a fantastic experience at this restaurant on Rembrandtweg. The food was truly delicious and the flavors were perfectly balanced. In particular, the way the fresh coriander and fine strips of ginger were sprinkled over the rich curry showed that real attention is paid to detail. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted exactly as it should. We will certainly be back here soon.

The dishes we ate here are more delicious than other Indian restaurants we visited.

Pakwaan arranged the catering for our sister's Anand Kaarj. They are a bit on the expensive side, but they are certainly worth it. The food was delicious, the hygiene was good, and the staff exuded calm and respect. They arrived with enough staff and handled everything themselves. The reason I am writing this review is actually for the way they left our gurdwara. They cleaned everything from the cupboards and stovetops to the refrigerators and left everything tidy. Nothing but respect.

Excellent restaurant. Large menu, hard to choose 😄 Attentive and friendly service. Both starters and main courses are very flavorful. Large portions, and they neatly pack up what is left over. Had a delicious meal! The large number of guests of Indian origin suggests that it is authentic.

Best Indian food in Amsterdam. Made it to 5 stars after eating their veg biriyani. Top class for taste and quantity. May be the raita could be made a little thick.

A 10/10 Experience. Incredible food with a perfect balance of indian spices. Tried phadi chicken for the first time and became a fan for life. However, I didn't like the sauces much with papads and ice was way too much in gin&tonic which ruins its entire taste.

Delicious Indian food in Amstelveen.

Loved the food! They provided Masala papad at the beginning. Tried Sheek kabab, Pahari chicken, Mango lassi and Chicken tikka biryani. Everything was delicious. Staff was friendly. Would definitely recommend this place.

My wife and I have been coming here every two weeks for a few years now. The food is always exceptionally good and the service very hospitable. I have always considered this the best Indian restaurant in the region, and all the Indian people seem to think so too. The value for money is also great! Going there again soon ……🤩

A wonderful discovery! There's a wide selection of dishes, all very original and well-executed, including a large vegetarian menu. The decor is also very well done, warm and modern.

Really good food and very authentic. It's usually packed and a bit cramped. But it's amazing.

Had a delicious meal, already got takeout a few times

One of the best places for Indian food. Quite a surprise for me. I got seekh kebab and mutton bhuna. Delicious. The host was also very accommodating and nice. Nice atmosphere, comfortable seats and the most delicious food. The only other surprise for me is I don’t understand why they don’t have a bigger footprint in Amsterdam.

Delicious and authentic food at reasonable cost compared to other restaurant. we really loved Pahari chicken which comes with complementory rice, seekh kabab,Tandoori chicken.The garlic naans and were soft and too good. For weet dish we tried Mango lassi which my daughter loved it. Looking forward to trying more items.

One of the best Indian restaurants I've been in. The space is a bit neutral but that is a good thing. You enjoy the staff (super friendly and helpful!!) and the food (that food tickled my taste buds so much...!) more! Definitely recommend it and it will be one of your fave spots.

Amazing and authentic Indian food!

We stayed in ibis budget close by and this was the first meal we had. I liked everything about this place. I ordered tandoori chicken and rice which was fantastic. My friend ordered garlic naan bread that came with a condiment that paired so well with it my mind was blown! A great atmosphere too. Great place to eat if you're in Amstelveen.

It doesn't look very inviting from the outside, but don't let the exterior fool you! Inside, it's cozy, and in the summer, you can even sit outside. We've become quite spoiled when it comes to Indian food, and we're often disappointed. The staff is very friendly, and the food is delicious! We enjoyed it and will definitely return to try more dishes.

One of the best Indian restaurants. It is tiny so they control the quality of their food really well. The owners are really friendly as is all the staff. The chicken korma is amazing as well as the butter chicken, the Biriyani. Everything is excellent

The food here is delicious. My favorites are the Lamb Rogan Josh with the Cheese Chili Garlic Naan. The appetizers are also all delicious.

A really authentic, amazing Indian restaurant with a beautiful staff. Feels like in India 💖

We ordered a few things to share: the Pahari Chicken, Butter Paneer Masala, and Masala Chap. Each dish was a knockout. The chicken was unbelievably tender, and the paneer and chap were so rich and flavorful they literally melted in my mouth. It's clear that Chef Sachin has some kind of magic in his hands. Every bite was an explosion of flavor and left me wanting more. ​Beyond the amazing food, the experience was made even better by the staff. They were absolutely perfect—attentive, friendly, and they made sure we had everything we needed. The place is also incredibly kid-friendly, which was a huge plus for us. It’s the kind of place where you can relax and enjoy a great meal without any stress. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

If you like spicy food, request it and they make it spicy, been here twice already.

Good place to get your Indian fix! We had the pani puri, chicken jalfrezi, garlic naan, and the mixed grill. The chicken breast in both the jalfrezi and mixed grill tasted good, albeit a little dry. The pani puri was very nice, and the garlic naan had good flavour. The service was great. If you are a fan of Indian food, you should definitely visit!

Get the cheese Naan, mutton and dal makhni. Is better than some of the places Back in Delhi.

Delicious Indian food is served here, complemented by polite & friendly staff. It's located in a pleasant, green area of Amstelveen.

Some of the most amazing food I’ve ever had. The papad had incredible sauces. The mango lassi has the exact right consistency. Service is very friendly and upbeat. They even have free feminine hygiene products in the bathroom. Which was especially surprising for a small place like this.

We went for some hot drinks and some snacks. And ordered papad (crispy fried lentil bread) with 3 kinds of sauces, momos (traditional Nepalese steamed/fried dumplings filled with spiced vegetables,) and gobi pakora (Deep fried pieces of cauliflower marinated in mildly spiced gram flour). They had all kind of vegetarian food, all curries were €14.99 and if with meat or fish either €19.99 or €20.99, but also regular food. Service was good, parking nearby. You can also order takeaway. You can sit/eat outside on terrace or indoor. Open 4PM till 10.30PM Closed Tuesday

Food was wonderful. We had pani puri, chole bhature, paneer makhni, roti, butter chicken with rice and kingfisher beer. Everything was fantastic. Specially the chole bhature were perfect, no added soda just the perfect amount of seasoning served with cut onions and achar. Yummy

I have tried food multiple times here and was a good experience every time I had food here. I love the curries and breads. Chole Bathura is my FAV. Highly recommended if you are a food lover.

“The Koh I Noor of Indian cuisine” is what how I would describe Pakwaan in Amstelveen. After a recommendation from one of my longterm friends, we had dinner there on 6-6-25. A rainy Friday, and a petite Indian restaurant already full packed with mostly Indians. Easy to reach and park your car on the Parking spaces of the shopping center. Reservation recommended. A wide variety of vegetarian and non veg dishes, “streetfood” and also more common tandoori dishes. The baingan bhartha was rather spicy but delicious, challenging the faint of tongue.. We also had other dishes of exquisite taste: Gobi pakora, aloo tiki, dahi bhalle, dal makhani, paneer butter masala, peshawari nan..freshly prepared…makes the slight waiting really worth it. The absolute summit of taste for me was desert: rasmalai, a classic with origins in Bengal, east India: prepared with milk, saffron, rose water, pistachio, sugar, and milk solids known as chenna (when compressed this becomes paneer, or indian cheese). A true gift from the Gods. Of all the Indian restaurants I have visited, this absolutely is in the top 3!

Having grown up in Delhi and Toronto, and having travelled a fair bit in North America, Europe and Asia, I have say this is my top three places for North Indian food. The Dal Makhani was buttery and tasty, and the Chicken Tikka Masala had the perfect aroma and spice. The Rotis were better than anywhere else as they had used high fibre flour- so healthy! The complimentary rice and papas were a treat, especially with the delicious chutneys. The chutneys went really well with the chicken tikka appetizers which was crisp on the outside and juicy and soft in the inside. This place really exceeded expectations- and the price was just right! €60 for two. It makes sense why this place was so busy even on a Wednesday. Thankfully they were quick with the service.

Authentic and delicious food!!! We had mango lassi, pahari chicken and naan. All tasted great. Pahari chicken is highy recommended. Also you get pappad and 4 chutneys as complementary starter. Good to reserve seats early. Staff was realy friendly and service was pretty fast.

The saying: Don't judge a book by its cover. Applies here. The outside doesn't look very inviting. Inside, however, you are warmly welcomed. What an incredibly friendly service. The food is very tasty. We ate several dishes. Everything was tasty. It was apparently very popular, because all the tables were occupied. Definitely a place to go back to. Everything was tasty and you could taste that it was fresh every day. The naan dough was perfect and many vegan options. Service very friendly and correct. The chefs in the kitchen are professional and work hygienically.
