There were six of us, and we had four pancakes and two schnitzels. Everyone was full and delighted. We paid a good price for drinks. It was very cozy, and the service was very friendly. We'd love to come back next time.

We made a phone reservation for 4:30 PM for dinner (we arrived fifteen minutes early). Upon arrival, the waitress told us the kitchen would open at 5:00 PM. She then pointed out that they should have mentioned this when we made the phone reservation. According to the waitress, this was stated on the website. (We made the phone reservation!!) We checked later, but it wasn't mentioned anywhere. Apparently, the waitress couldn't stand this, so she started half-yelling at us in public, while I had two small children standing next to me. Other customers who were eating there witnessed the waitress's outburst of anger. Meanwhile, we stated that we wouldn't be eating there. We then confronted the waitress about her unusual behavior, which only made her angrier. She yelled, half-yelling, that she'd been working all day. I should have known that a restaurant's kitchen doesn't open until 5:00 PM, and she simply didn't think it was right that we wanted to eat at 4:30 PM. This happened while a large number of people were eating pancakes in the restaurant. We weren't even asked what we'd like to eat. Swearing so loudly that the whole restaurant could hear her (people were staring at their tables in surprise), she yelled that we were being unreasonable. Apparently, the other staff thought it was all fine. No one, not a manager or owner, took this overwrought waitress aside. The discussion was long over for us, but the waitress kept going, insisting on getting her way. A communication course or a referral to a company doctor for this overwrought waitress wouldn't be a bad idea. This was truly antisocial! This restaurant is also a no-go for children if staff start yelling in front of customers' children.

A great place to enjoy a meal outdoors (weather permitting). It has all the amenities for traveling with small children, and the staff is very friendly.

VERY unfriendly staff. We weren't served and were simply ignored. We then asked for a menu after waiting fifteen minutes. This made them even angrier. We then got up and left. We then confronted them about it. They said they were ignoring us because we didn't ask to sit down. I find this extremely childish and inappropriate. They were provoking us by putting all the other customers first and simply ignoring us. YOU WILL NEVER WANT US TO GO BACK HERE!!!

Do not come here the lunchtime of Duinrell changeover (Mondays and Fridays) as quite a few families flood the place. Service is overwhelmed and menu options are restricted. Lead waitress’ answer to everything is “no!” From sitting down it took 50mins to get drinks. Pancakes took over an hour

A lovely terrace in the sunshine; we use it during our bike rides to enjoy delicious pancakes. We think these are the best pancakes in The Hague and the surrounding area! And even more so. Drinks and food are very reasonably priced; we love coming here. Oh, and let's not forget the staff. They work so cheerfully.

The food was quite tasty, but it was definitely only intended for tourists from Duinrell. Anyone wanting more should walk at least a few streets further.

Made a booking for 7:30pm as a party of 17 when we showed up they told us they forgot to write the booking down and refused to seat us

We initially tried to book a table for 17 people at 6 p.m., but unfortunately, that wasn't possible, so we reserved a table for 7:30 p.m. We arrived at 7:20 p.m., but they hadn't reserved a table for us. We had to wait an extra 90 minutes for nothing! The woman behind the bar simply said "tough luck" and told us we couldn't eat there. What a terrible restaurant. It was our last evening with the family, and they absolutely ruined it. What a terrible end to our vacation. Luckily, we were able to eat at the Gravesande pancake house around the corner.

Food from Maggi and frozen foods, attentive and prompt service, so prompt that it leaves before you've finished your order. The bill didn't match.

Where do I even begin? From the moment we stepped into this excuse of a restaurant, it was a downhill slide into culinary misery. The hostess greeted us with all the enthusiasm of someone attending a tax audit. We waited 25 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation — apparently, that means nothing here. The decor looked like a garage sale had exploded and no one bothered to clean it up. Dim lighting tried (and failed) to hide the grime on the menus, which were sticky enough to warrant a biohazard label. Now, the food. If I had wanted to eat something that tasted like wet cardboard, I could’ve stayed home and boiled my Amazon boxes. My steak was so overcooked I needed a saw to cut it. My partner’s pasta was undercooked and somehow both dry and watery — a paradox only this kitchen could achieve. We sent the food back, and what returned was somehow worse. They also managed to forget our drinks three times. We ended up walking over to the bar and getting them ourselves. Service? Nonexistent. Our server vanished for most of the night, only reappearing to drop the bill like it was radioactive. No apology, no check-in, nothing. The only thing I enjoyed was leaving. Avoid this place like the plague unless you’re in the mood for disappointment, frustration, and an intense desire to write a scathing review. You’re welcome.

Forgot about our booking told us its our issue and they're full. The women who had originally said she had booked it told us she didn't need to right it down aswell.

Made a reservation online for 6. Arrived on time and seated promptly, staff very courteous and didnt laugh at my my horrible attempts at speaking Dutch. Food was delicious and staff joked with the children which I loved. Amazing ice creams and nice view over a garden.

Arrived early evening, was kept waiting at door for over 5 minutes to be told the only table available was dirty, was directed to this dirty table and had to wait for staff to clean it. Ordered food which arrived over one hour later, no explanation, no check in from staff. The table was left uncleaned for at least a further 30 minutes until we asked for dessert, ended up cleaning the table ourselves, desserts arrived not as Ordered or explained on the menu, when we asked staff about this, they (2 of them) began an argument with us before one of them.stormed off muttering and gesticulating to herself. Bizarre aggressive behaviour I've never encountered before.

Having read lots of reviews, can relate to the negatives but here’s my honest review whilst still sat in the restaurant.. reserved a table for 19:00 was seated at 18:45, sat for 20 mins with no one asking if we would like to order drinks, so I got up and asked if we could have drinks, drinks took 15 min to arrive.. meanwhile ordered food, food arrived quite quickly and was absolutely beautiful!! Despite the initial wait for a waitress for our drinks the staff were all very friendly and polite, to summarise food beautiful, staff a little unorganised or possibly understaffed however very polite and friendly, price wise expensive but so are a lot of similar eateries in the area. One review mentioned pops restaurant a little further into town, I would definitely champion pops, we ate there a couple of days ago, it’s very reasonably priced and also beautiful food!!

Three of us had dinner for €72. We didn't have a reservation, but we would recommend it. The menu consists of various pancakes and meat dishes. We were only satisfied with the main course. It was delicious. We'll be back.

Nice, cozy restaurant right across from the entrance to Duinrell. We ate here a few weeks ago. Super delicious food and friendly staff. Lovely patio to sit in the back. Delicious burgers. Highly recommended. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back.

Disappointing evening at the Zonnenhof restaurant – culinary delights unfortunately lacking Last night, six of us visited the Zonnenhof restaurant, expecting a pleasant meal in front of Duinrell Park. Unfortunately, our expectations regarding the culinary quality were largely dashed, making the evening a rather unsatisfying experience. The French onion soup and the carpaccio, both of which were delicious and got things off to a promising start, were particularly noteworthy. The fries were also well-prepared and crispy. Unfortunately, the main courses, especially the schnitzel, were considerably less than excellent. The breading was obviously of convenience store quality, sloppy, and had an uncharacteristic aftertaste, reminiscent of steak or burgers. This suggests a lack of freshness and careless preparation. The accompanying sauces were also a disappointment – ​​a thick, unappetizing industrial mush that added no value to the dishes and gave the impression that they were using ready-made products. The burger bun was also perceived as dry and crispbread-like. Overall, the Zonnenhof restaurant offered a low culinary standard last night. While individual components were okay, the main courses and sauces were far from convincing and significantly tarnished the overall impression. While the price was generally reasonable, it was more for the quality of a snack bar than that of a restaurant. It's a mystery to us how the previously positive reviews came about. We hope that management takes these criticisms seriously and adjusts the offerings accordingly in the future to provide a truly positive dining experience.

Delicious food, good staff, nice terrace

A very nice, quaint place surrounded by nature! The staff is very attentive and always had time for a little chat. We highly recommend the food, especially the pancakes. A lovely spot that's a must-try when visiting Wassenaar. Best wishes from Germany 🥰

Lovely place for a family meal, food was delicious, staff very friendly, reasonable price. Our grandchild had a kiddies ice cream that came in little dolphin and frog mugs, the lady even gave our grandchild the mugs as a gift, very nice lady. Highly recommend.

Six of us, three mothers and their three kids had a really fantastic meal here on Sunday. The food was amazing, the service and waiting staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was perfect. A really beautiful, local restaurant if you're staying in Duinrell.

We had a delicious meal at the Zonnehof tonight with our two children aged 3 and 6. Two large pancakes, chicken satay and burger. Delicious! The service was so friendly, with attention and humor. Enjoyed! Home with a smile and two happy children.

You pay 50 cents for a glass of tap water here, ridiculous, never experienced this before, according to the owner tap water is expensive, a glass of water costs 3 cents, shame, and the food was mediocre, so not recommended!

Also tonight, Vannessa and Sander Remmerswaal and their fantastic team made us enjoy their richly filled spare ribs and satay. We have enjoyed our stay here for over 5.5 years and would love to return to Restaurant Zonnehof

We were on our way to another tent and spontaneously settled here! The staff did their best to arrange a spot outside for us and they succeeded! Kudos! Food was served promptly and we had a delicious meal! Top!

Present here at 7:55 PM while they are open until 9:00 PM according to the website. Were sent away because the kitchen was already closed while a load of food had just come out. Apparently all corona debts have already been paid off and more needs to be earned here. We went to the other side, open half an hour shorter but still hospitable.

Friendly service. Enjoyed a drink and bitterballen on the terrace. Terrace is beautifully situated on numerous cycling routes. Recommended.

Great little restaurant opposite Duinrell where we were staying. Really glad we tried it, we had a lovely (booked) table by the water on the terrace outside. It was a Friday and service was a little slow but expected on a busy Friday. Food absolutely amazing. The Schnitzel with mushroom sauce is to die for, absolutely incredible and everyone else enjoyed their meals. The home made apple pie with whipped cream was a fantastic dessert and cheaper than most others! Only thing that put me off a bit was the amount of smokers outside puffing away, not restaurants fault but maybe they could make half of the terrace non smoking?

Try eating out two nights in a row (Saturday and Sunday). Unfortunately we were turned away both days even though tables were free. It's a shame last year we always got a table without a reservation.

Poor service. We were told to wait to order our food. After 1h15 minutes we were still waiting for food to come. We had booked a table too. We had young kids too who were getting tired and they didn’t even bother either. It’s a shame, as it’s a nice spot. My wife ordered a salad. It took an extra 15 minutes to arrive after everyone had had food. She was the one who first complained about how long it was taking. Coincidence…

35 minutes before we got our drinks and another 40 minutes before we got our food , the place was busy and only seen two staff on , how is this place still going, then when I eventually got my mix grill it was petetic 26 euro for a tiny pork chop, a tiny bit of steak and a spear rips that probably came out of a mouse there was meant to be chips with that they never came out I had to ask for them , by pass this spot just a few minutes walk there's a lovely restaurant called pop way better.

Food and the service was excellent well worth the visit.

It’s not often I get excited about a vegetarian burger but this was the best I’ve had in ages. Make sure to order with cheese and the fried egg.

The food was in two conditions simultaneously: hot outside and frozen inside (I even felt an ice flackes). And it wasn't tasty at all. It was heated in microwave, not cooked, but we waited it almost half hour.

I had a really nice meal here, super friendly service. She made sure we had everything we needed, including for my grandmother. The food was very tasty and I will definitely come back here!

The food was very tasty. However, the prices are very high. Why do you have to pay extra to exchange inserts? Completely exaggerated. We paid for a side dish but never received it and we asked. A mini bowl of fries for 2 main courses. At times you had the feeling that you weren't welcome as a non-Dutch person. Very unfortunate.

Spontaneously, after one unprepared walk on the beach, we stopped by De Zonnehof. To our surprise, when we opened the menu, we were very pleased with the prices. The food was phenomenal, our only point of interest was that the fries could have been cooked for a few more minutes in the golden pond. The service was excellent, friendly ladies. Highly recommended. Note to self: next time bring sunscreen and sunglasses to the beach.

The service didn't pay any attention at all, I was always without a drink and was always allowed to ask for it myself. The spare ribs say falls off the bone on the property, so you would expect them to be tender, but this was not the case at all, the marinade on them was separate, so that was a plus. The garlic sauce was very tasty. As a sparerib lover, I will never come back for this.

Expensive. But worth every penny! The ribs were perfect I would have liked more sauce for the schnitzel, but it was still a really nice part of my vacation to eat here. Conclusion. Anyone who can and wants to pay a little more for good service is really in good hands here. We will 1000% be back :)
