Had a fantastic meal here at lunch time. Service was great, food was quick. We all got different things and all plates were empty. Nice big portions considering it was lunch . Very reasonable pricing also. Would highly recommend personally over food in Duinrell campsite! Decor was gorgeous as well, lovely setting.

When I read the reviews about the service, it is insulting to the people who go there. I myself received an invitation to come and have a bite to eat there. Well, I chose not to go. So on 19/08/2026 there will already be 2 fewer people. Good luck with your staff.

I haven't even been there yet and I'm already unhappy. The website says: vegan options. Not on the online menu, so I called them: for dinner, there is only a vegan pancake. Then I was told, who is vegan anyway? We're not going to put that on the menu for that, are we? I asked a bit more, and it turned out there might be a vegan burger. Well, if that's even available... I don't feel very welcome as a vegan; could this be better?

Every time when I come here I love their homemade tuna!! Even I may only imagine how must be hard to work on the summer seasons, the standard of coffee, and my favourite dish never drops. I wish this place growth and please 🥺 English menus must be fixed as soon as possible! This is an amazing place highly recommend

A beautiful setting near a stream, the staff were very friendly and checked in on us regularly.The owner/managers have created what seems like a fun environment to work in! The pork was cooked well, the burger was generous and the fish (sole) was very tasty and fresh (also a generous portion).

A very cozy place with a lovely terrace where you can sit wonderfully under the tall trees. Ideal for the summer. Cozy atmosphere inside and excellent service. The Duinrell burger we ordered tasted excellent, highly recommended! Also great for the winter!

Pancakes/drink: Standard fare, nothing special. Pancake prices are fair. Scenery: Nice, next to a small lake, right next to theme park Duinrell, unfortunately we were sat right next to some smokers. Service: Bit odd, there are no menus on the table so we went in to ask if we had to order inside or outside. The answer was outside at the table, so we went back out again. A waiter came out to say "Was it you that wanted me to come out?" Unfortunately the wait time was quite long which would only be down to a lack of staff, or so I thought as I counted at least 5 staff. 10 minutes to take our drink order, another 15 minutes to take our food order. The 10 minutes it took to get our food was acceptable. Overall the staff just needs to be more attentive and on top of people wanting to order for this to go from 3 to 4 stars.

We stayed here twice on holiday. All the food was of very good quality. The service was excellent. Very cozy.

What a lovely place this is! We parked the car under the trees and found a table under the parasol. The very friendly staff quickly conjured up the ginger tea and the latte macchiato. The delicious Brie sandwiches with honey and walnuts were also irresistible. Fantastic, and all for less than €30.00! I wish I lived around here!

The food was delicious. We ate here for 3 days and there was plenty of choice. Plenty of choice for gluten-free options, and they know their stuff.

Make sure you don't arrive fifteen minutes early, otherwise the staff won't be able to speak to you in a decent manner and will give you the impression that you aren't welcome. After waiting a little while, you are warmly welcomed to a table, but don't be surprised by the exceptional hospitality there either. After ordering dinner, three plates arrived on the table quite quickly, in which the waitress had apparently made a mistake, and you get the sneer: "Couldn't you have said that you had the wrong order, because this wasn't for you?" Do you have diabetes? Then don't be surprised if they give you Pepsi, which is high in sugar, and get irritated because they have to swap it. Fortunately, the food was tasty; we enjoyed the "piss your colleagues and customers" show. (By then, we had the feeling we were at the Karen concept). And oh yes, the waitress with blonde hair did her job super well! If only everyone worked like that, things would really improve in terms of customer friendliness/hospitality, and you would be positively working on customer loyalty.

We have been coming here for years, but last night we did have a rather unpleasant experience. We were celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday and had three people serving us. One of them was a blonde lady who kept placing all the drinks on the corner of the table and didn't serve them fully. There were six of us. The third time this happened, my wife commented on it. She said she didn't think it was polite that we had to distribute the drinks ourselves and that she didn't even take the trouble to serve them properly. Her reply: "Yes! I'm busy!" My wife explained that the busyness was because people like to be served. Placing drinks on the corner of a table doesn't exactly count as good service. Neither does a snap that you are too busy to do the work you were hired for. "Well, thanks for your perfect explanation! Well said!" was her reply. Followed by: "You don't have to tell me how to do my job!" "Well," said my wife, "It was meant as constructive criticism. It's not really polite to argue with me about this." The lady didn't like that very much.. "No, and you'd better not argue with me either! Bye-bye!"... We left a tip because all the other staff were actually very friendly and the food was more than fine! Nice big cuts of meat and nothing stingy. But this lady did put a damper on the evening and shouldn't be doing this job. Certainly not in a place where we are used to always being received so incredibly kindly. A shame.

Truly a super restaurant!! Food delicious again as always (satay platter), service, despite the heat (one of the hottest days ever recorded) very friendly and fast. In short, a really nice restaurant, where it is cozy, affordable, and the food is very tasty!!

I had the spare ribs, the others had salmon, schnitzel, and the children pancakes. EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLENT! The staff was also super friendly! You could tell they enjoyed their work.

Very good burger gonna come back again

Visited on spur of the moment on our last day at Duinrell - and was really glad we did. The place was really busy but wait times weren’t too bad, and the food was definitely worth waiting for. Great pancakes (obviously, at a pancake place!) but the burgers were also very good indeed. Half chicken also excellent - juicy, tons of meat, crispy skin and perfectly cooked. Definitely recommend - not cheap (but this is Wassenar to be fair) but the quality of the food was absolutely worth it, and we’d certainly go back.

First time for me today, but certainly not the last. Great service!

Very cozy and charming place, opposite Duinrell. We ate there two days in a row. We did make a reservation (there were 8 of us). We had a delicious meal (schnitzel x stuffed pancake). There was plenty of everything. A wide variety of dishes, and they also thought of the kids' options. Friendly and welcoming staff. Good value for money. Highly recommended. We eat at De Zonnehof regularly... the food is delicious and the service is top-notch! In the summer, it's lovely on the wonderful terrace, and in the winter, it's cozy inside. A varied menu with plenty of tasty options for everyone. I love everything, but the carpaccio is my absolute favorite! Today we had the mixed grill again... highly recommended!!! In short, a nice, cozy, and very good restaurant; do make sure to reserve in advance because it gets busy... really worth it!!!

Since the restaurant made a very good impression, we reserved a table. Upon arrival, despite being on the reservation list, we were very rudely directed to a table outside. The way they communicated was appallingly dismissive. The owner, who was sitting at a table eating with her staff, shouted across the restaurant instead of coming to us to resolve the situation. So, I wouldn't give it any stars at all, but unfortunately, that wasn't possible.

A few years ago, I often stopped here from the campsite across the street. Friendly service, even though it was quite busy. The relaxed Dutch way of life shines through, especially in moments when things would get hectic and stressful in Germany. -- Cozy outdoor seating area, the trees provided shade, everything was great. And the pancakes, mmm... delicious! We'll definitely be back!

Family Tradition We vacation in the region every year. On our last evening, we always have dinner here. We've been doing this for 16 years now, and we've ALWAYS been satisfied and are already looking forward to next week.

We made a phone reservation for 4:30 PM for dinner (we arrived fifteen minutes early). Upon arrival, the waitress told us the kitchen would open at 5:00 PM. She then pointed out that they should have mentioned this when we made the phone reservation. According to the waitress, this was stated on the website. (We made the phone reservation!!) We checked later, but it wasn't mentioned anywhere. Apparently, the waitress couldn't stand this, so she started half-yelling at us in public, while I had two small children standing next to me. Other customers who were eating there witnessed the waitress's outburst of anger. Meanwhile, we stated that we wouldn't be eating there. We then confronted the waitress about her unusual behavior, which only made her angrier. She yelled, half-yelling, that she'd been working all day. I should have known that a restaurant's kitchen doesn't open until 5:00 PM, and she simply didn't think it was right that we wanted to eat at 4:30 PM. This happened while a large number of people were eating pancakes in the restaurant. We weren't even asked what we'd like to eat. Swearing so loudly that the whole restaurant could hear her (people were staring at their tables in surprise), she yelled that we were being unreasonable. Apparently, the other staff thought it was all fine. No one, not a manager or owner, took this overwrought waitress aside. The discussion was long over for us, but the waitress kept going, insisting on getting her way. A communication course or a referral to a company doctor for this overwrought waitress wouldn't be a bad idea. This was truly antisocial! This restaurant is also a no-go for children if staff start yelling in front of customers' children.

VERY unfriendly staff. We weren't served and were simply ignored. We then asked for a menu after waiting fifteen minutes. This made them even angrier. We then got up and left. We then confronted them about it. They said they were ignoring us because we didn't ask to sit down. I find this extremely childish and inappropriate. They were provoking us by putting all the other customers first and simply ignoring us. YOU WILL NEVER WANT US TO GO BACK HERE!!!

Do not come here the lunchtime of Duinrell changeover (Mondays and Fridays) as quite a few families flood the place. Service is overwhelmed and menu options are restricted. Lead waitress’ answer to everything is “no!” From sitting down it took 50mins to get drinks. Pancakes took over an hour

A lovely terrace in the sunshine; we use it during our bike rides to enjoy delicious pancakes. We think these are the best pancakes in The Hague and the surrounding area! And even more so. Drinks and food are very reasonably priced; we love coming here. Oh, and let's not forget the staff. They work so cheerfully.

The food was quite tasty, but it was definitely only intended for tourists from Duinrell. Anyone wanting more should walk at least a few streets further.

Where do I even begin? From the moment we stepped into this excuse of a restaurant, it was a downhill slide into culinary misery. The hostess greeted us with all the enthusiasm of someone attending a tax audit. We waited 25 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation — apparently, that means nothing here. The decor looked like a garage sale had exploded and no one bothered to clean it up. Dim lighting tried (and failed) to hide the grime on the menus, which were sticky enough to warrant a biohazard label. Now, the food. If I had wanted to eat something that tasted like wet cardboard, I could’ve stayed home and boiled my Amazon boxes. My steak was so overcooked I needed a saw to cut it. My partner’s pasta was undercooked and somehow both dry and watery — a paradox only this kitchen could achieve. We sent the food back, and what returned was somehow worse. They also managed to forget our drinks three times. We ended up walking over to the bar and getting them ourselves. Service? Nonexistent. Our server vanished for most of the night, only reappearing to drop the bill like it was radioactive. No apology, no check-in, nothing. The only thing I enjoyed was leaving. Avoid this place like the plague unless you’re in the mood for disappointment, frustration, and an intense desire to write a scathing review. You’re welcome.

We initially tried to book a table for 17 people at 6 p.m., but unfortunately, that wasn't possible, so we reserved a table for 7:30 p.m. We arrived at 7:20 p.m., but they hadn't reserved a table for us. We had to wait an extra 90 minutes for nothing! The woman behind the bar simply said "tough luck" and told us we couldn't eat there. What a terrible restaurant. It was our last evening with the family, and they absolutely ruined it. What a terrible end to our vacation. Luckily, we were able to eat at the Gravesande pancake house around the corner.

Arrived early evening, was kept waiting at door for over 5 minutes to be told the only table available was dirty, was directed to this dirty table and had to wait for staff to clean it. Ordered food which arrived over one hour later, no explanation, no check in from staff. The table was left uncleaned for at least a further 30 minutes until we asked for dessert, ended up cleaning the table ourselves, desserts arrived not as Ordered or explained on the menu, when we asked staff about this, they (2 of them) began an argument with us before one of them.stormed off muttering and gesticulating to herself. Bizarre aggressive behaviour I've never encountered before.

Having read lots of reviews, can relate to the negatives but here’s my honest review whilst still sat in the restaurant.. reserved a table for 19:00 was seated at 18:45, sat for 20 mins with no one asking if we would like to order drinks, so I got up and asked if we could have drinks, drinks took 15 min to arrive.. meanwhile ordered food, food arrived quite quickly and was absolutely beautiful!! Despite the initial wait for a waitress for our drinks the staff were all very friendly and polite, to summarise food beautiful, staff a little unorganised or possibly understaffed however very polite and friendly, price wise expensive but so are a lot of similar eateries in the area. One review mentioned pops restaurant a little further into town, I would definitely champion pops, we ate there a couple of days ago, it’s very reasonably priced and also beautiful food!!

Disappointing evening at the Zonnenhof restaurant – culinary delights unfortunately lacking Last night, six of us visited the Zonnenhof restaurant, expecting a pleasant meal in front of Duinrell Park. Unfortunately, our expectations regarding the culinary quality were largely dashed, making the evening a rather unsatisfying experience. The French onion soup and the carpaccio, both of which were delicious and got things off to a promising start, were particularly noteworthy. The fries were also well-prepared and crispy. Unfortunately, the main courses, especially the schnitzel, were considerably less than excellent. The breading was obviously of convenience store quality, sloppy, and had an uncharacteristic aftertaste, reminiscent of steak or burgers. This suggests a lack of freshness and careless preparation. The accompanying sauces were also a disappointment – ​​a thick, unappetizing industrial mush that added no value to the dishes and gave the impression that they were using ready-made products. The burger bun was also perceived as dry and crispbread-like. Overall, the Zonnenhof restaurant offered a low culinary standard last night. While individual components were okay, the main courses and sauces were far from convincing and significantly tarnished the overall impression. While the price was generally reasonable, it was more for the quality of a snack bar than that of a restaurant. It's a mystery to us how the previously positive reviews came about. We hope that management takes these criticisms seriously and adjusts the offerings accordingly in the future to provide a truly positive dining experience.
