Peacock Alley in Grachtengordel-Zuid

From the moment you enter the hotel, the concierge opens the door for you. They also escort you to the restaurant, where the staff politely greets you and takes your coat/bag, then brings you to your table. The Christmas decorations were already up, creating a warm and beautiful atmosphere. Our hostess explained the concept of afternoon tea and then poured us a delicious non-alcoholic aperitif. She also mentioned any allergies we had mentioned; I don't eat oysters, so this was replaced with something else. Very thoughtful and attentive! The tiered stand looked beautiful, with a mix of sweet and savory. The savory snacks were paired with a Japanese tea, and the sweet snacks with a different tea. Whenever your cup was empty, the staff refilled it, so there was no teapot on the table. Most of the snacks were delicious. Some savory ones lacked more flavor, and the chocolate, what sweet ones there were, was overwhelming. After the tiered stand, we were served two types of scones. These were warm and freshly baked. Soft on the inside, served with vanilla cream, lemon custard, and apple compote. It was a generous amount, so we were able to take two scones home. It was a fantastic afternoon with lots of delicious treats and excellent service!

I took my mother to Peacock Alley at the Waldorf Astoria for her birthday, and it was amazing! The hotel is truly beautiful, and the ambiance is wonderful. It feels like you're somewhere else than bustling Amsterdam. We thoroughly enjoyed the Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Champagne Experience! You can't go wrong with a glass of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, but the presentation, story, and taste of the 12 amuse-bouches per person were fantastic! The amuse-bouches tell the story of how Ruinart Champagnes are made, from harvest to the fizz in the glass. The service was impeccable, friendly, welcoming, and they were constantly on top of refilling the two teas. Delicious tea, top quality! A wonderful experience!

Famous high tea in Amsterdam with a long waiting list

I treated my mother to a High Tea, as it was on her list. I booked it for Easter, so that should be fine, or so I thought. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. It's a true work of art, but the flavors leave much to be desired, especially in the savory dishes. The sweet dishes were tasty, but some were far too sweet. Because of the amount of sweets, we took some home. Unfortunately, most of it was soft the next day and not very appetizing (which I don't have when I buy something from a pastry shop). Matching tea flavors were served for the savory and sweet dishes, which was very nice. The tea was refilled regularly; it was a shame that it was sometimes lukewarm. Scones were served with delicious lemon curd, clotted cream, and apple compote. The service was friendly but rather reserved, and almost entirely in English. And that in my own city! There should be a better policy here, with the Dutch-speaking staff serving as many Dutch guests as possible. The atmosphere is quiet but dull. All in all, a huge disappointment. The flavors weren't pronounced, the tea was sometimes lukewarm, empty champagne glasses sat on the table for almost an hour, I had to ask for a clean plate after the savory dishes, and to top it all off, when I got home, I found the leftover sweets had been put in a paper container with aluminum foil! Not even in a proper container with a lid or a paper box. The scones were next to them in the same container, so they had gotten soggy. And there was absolutely nothing to go with the scones (no lemon curd or anything like that). And nothing to celebrate Easter; it could have been any weekday. It may sound decadent, but this high tea comes at a price and is held in a 5-star hotel. Personally, I would have liked something warm to go with it. I've had high tea in several 5-star hotels, and all were excellent and with plenty of variety. It's nice for the experience, but not worth repeating, and certainly not for that price, which is a shame.

The design of this place is really nice, and the staff is very friendly. However, I found the food to be below average. The parmesan ravioli I had was overly oily, and the octopus was just nearly average. On the bright side, the matcha latte was really good. We would have enjoyed staying to eat at the hotel, but we preferred going outside, having much better options.

Gave my husband a treat in Peacock Alley for high tea. Turned out to be a celebration for Amsterdam’s 750 anniversary. Overall, food not bad. Some minor hits and miss. Tea pairing was really good . The scones in the end are unnecessary though. Too much to eat further and were also too dry.

Have absolutely nothing to complain about. Top notch service, atmosphere was outstanding, and the food was 11/10 ✨

What an experience. We were there for high tea and the concept was Amsterdam’s 750th Anniversary. Every single piece designed to reflect story & artefacts of Amsterdam. All were very delicious, some of them were flavor explosions! At the end there were some freshly baked, extremely delicious scones. I am dieting since we ate there but all good 😅 Service was immaculate. Very nice experience and a definite recommendation😍

After brunch I've decided to try some fine dessert. After ordering a cappuccino I've decided to go for a cheesecake with mango, passion fruit and white chocolate (which seemed very interesting since I was planning on experimenting with replacing raspberries with a passion fruit cremeux) after a waiting slightly longer than I would have liked to be approached by the waiter. Although I couldn't figure out how white chocolate could have improved fearing it will add unnecessary sweetness and richness. My fears turned out to be underestimated since what I've gotten wasn't a cheesecake but a cheese based vanilla flavored rich pastry cream in a white chocolate crust which wasn't necessary bad by itself but different than a cheesecake and the richness was enhanced by white chocolate making it seem to sweet while it wasn't because of it not being balanced out with sufficient acidity which fruity components failed to do. Considering I can get a better cheesecake for 1/3 the price I would have been very disappointed if not for the fact that due to my dissatisfaction the entire bill was cancelled.

We went for afternoon tea. A bit pricey to be honest but super nice place and great service! I loved the savory dishes that you can eat in one single bite with a lot of flavor. The sweet ones were too big and too sweet for my taste... I would suggest the chef to try the same one bite format as the savory ones. Teas and drinks were very good.

The worst high tea I have ever had. So bad, it warrants my first Google review ever. Unrefined, unappetising, lacking in flavour and inspiration and an unbalanced menu. Bland. Tiny savoury bites of which the listed ingredients are hard to detect. The "lemon meringue" was a tart cup filled with condensed milk and topped with a runny meringue. Overabundance of printed rice paper for decoration and inedible dark chocolate things. Over-reliance on mousse-based desserts and white chocolate garnishes. Huge disappointment. One can find a far superior high tea for half the price (EUR85 pp). The venue is beautiful and the staff were lovely and professional. The drinks were delicious.

Utterly blown away. I’ve been to many executive high teas but none as exquisite as this . I love how every bite pays homage to Amsterdam’s artistic roots and comes with a beautiful story . A completely delectable experience well worth the 85 euros ! ( though I wished they had published the price as some blogs said it’s 42.50 euros)

I'm not easily impressed by a high tea, but at Peack Alley the quality is really high. The environment is very classy. The presentation, beautiful creations and flavors of the luxurious patisserie, savory cakes, scones and delicate sandwiches are really of the highest class!!! All this is accompanied by a delicious appetizer, a delicious glass of champagne and carefully selected tea. In short, enjoy!

High Tea was a very special present for the both of us. We added some extra "bling" with champaign before and cocktails after. A luxurious experience all together.

First ever high tea experience. Will not be my last. My colleague and I had walked around the city for a while and needed a place to relax and recharge. We didn’t feel perfectly dressed for the occasion but we were welcomed in, given a prominent table, and treated like any other paying hotel guests. The tea and sweets were exactly what we needed on a cold and gloomy afternoon. The live piano music capped off a beautiful location.

We came at a very quiet time so service was 10 out of 10. We celebrated our engagement and ordered a bottle of champagne which was lovely. The waiting staff (3 young girls) were very friendly and extremely attentive. I would highly recommend the burger, it's definitely the best value for money item. Seating is comfortable and we would love to return when it is a bit more buzzing.

Had lunch with the 2 of us in a nice atmosphere, good service, lunch was fine, only the anchovies were missing, but we actually said something about that too late, prices were super high, but we knew that in advance. A very big annoyance was that a certain audience came with a Balkan appearance, dressed in hoodies and caps with the accompanying gym outfit, looking so out of sorts, hanging sagging on the benches. Quite a letdown. A shame about the prestigious appearance and the staff who did their utmost, it detracts enormously from that. It is worth mentioning that it was my wife's birthday and when they knew we were treated to champagne and a dessert with "congratulations" spray painted on it. We have been pampered. Still a beautiful experience.

The Waldorf Amsterdam occupies several canal buildings, the interior of which is beautifully decorated. The Peacock Alley dining room itself exudes understated elegance, more Four-Seasons style than nouveau-riche, faux-English Ritz-Carlton style. We came for high tea. The 12 mini dishes (6 savoury, 6 sweet) were gorgeous, all inspired by masterpieces by Dutch painters. Some dishes were exquisite (eg. the oysters), some looked better than they tasted. Service was very good, although with just one waiter responsible for the whole room (the others were more like busboys), it was slow and not impeccable. At 65€ per pax, it was a bit overpriced, but the whole experience was worth having, at least for the beauty of the pieces. When we came, all guests must have been foreigners.

Went for high tea themed Dutch famous artists. I can only speak from my personal preferences, but some of the taste combinations were not as complimentary as I assume the chef was intended. We each got 12 pastries, 6 savory and 6 sweet. The sweet ones were a bit overwhelming with the amount of cream there. Also I found the quality of some ingredients like white chocolate could be higher for the price we paid. However the service was absolutely fantastic and the place itself was lovely. Would love to come back here but for something a la carte.

The sweet items were inedible. They looked wonderful and out of this world in terms of concept and design. The flip side…zero flavor …very sweet and mushy unfortunately. Big disappointment. The savory selection was very good.

Wir besuchten die Lounge um die Mittagszeit und wählten 2 Salate, die sehr schmackhaft zubereitet waren. Die Atmosphäre war entspannt und der Service entsprach der Klasse des Hotels. Es wurde uns eine sehr freundliche Mitarbeiterin zugeteilt, die sich mit uns in unserer Muttersprache fließend unterhalten konnte. Die große Fensterfront lässt viel Licht hinein und gestattet einen Blick in den schönen Garten.

Der einzigartige Afternoon Tea ist hier eine sehr stimmungsvolle Angelegenheit mit Pianobegleitung, zu der sich wegen der großen Nachfrage eine Reservierung empfiehlt. Außerhalb dieser Zeiten ist das Peacock Alley ein hervorragender Ort für einen Mittagssnack. Die Präsentation und Zubereitung eines Caesar Salad und eines Grüner Spargel/Minze/Joghurt-Salates waren ausgezeichnet. Die Atmosphäre ist ganz entspannt und der Service sehr angenehm und zuvorkommend. Die große Fensterfront gestattet einen Blick in den schönen Garten.

Exceptional Afternoon Tea! If you’re visiting now- you’ll be able to experience the World of Trudon inspired tea time! Be sure to make your reservation immediately!! For such a unique and tastefully delicious experience their price was nice at €65/person! Max was absolutely a delight! He’s well versed in his tea time knowledge and gave us the full history of how the inspiration of Trudon was exemplified in the tea service! We had two different types of teas - one to a compliment the savory round of bites and one for the sweet. Every single savory and sweet bite was beautifully crafted (and the chef was able to accommodate our “no beef” restriction without disrupting the artful designs of the bites!) At the end of the service, we were gifted a Trudon candle cameo (Cyrnos scented) and it is such a magical keepsake from our afternoon tea here at the Waldorf Amsterdam! Thank you to the team for really going above and beyond to make this a true experience to cherish!

We were both very full and didn’t need dinner after this.

We took high tea here and it was nothing short of impeccable. First and foremost, being inside the Waldorf Astoria means it shares the stunning ambiance and service that the rest of the hotel offers. We were greeted by more attendants when we walked in than there were guests in the lounge. The food was creative, visually striking, and mind-bending at times. Of course, it tasted amazing too. The tea was well-paired to the food. The service was on-point. Even the price was lower than I expected. We couldn't have had a better time, and I can't recommend it more highly.

Als regelmatige bezoeker van de Peacock Alley in het Waldorf Astoria Hotel, kan ik alleen maar positief zijn. Vorige week een afternoon tea gehad met vijf personen. Tot in de puntjes verzorgd. Geweldige service. Prachtig opgemaakte gerechtjes. Heerlijke tea. Ook lunch ik hier regelmatig en is de service van het persoon geweldig. Ik laat mijn bezoek ook altijd de tuin en de bar van het hotel zien die zeker de moeite waard zijn. Het persoon is gastvrij en kwaliteit van het eten is echt top!

We enjoyed the afternoon tea service at Peacock Alley and it was a spectacular experience. They created a tie-in with Guerlain (the on-site spa of the Waldorf Astoria that this restaurant is housed in), creating small savory and sweet bites inspired by different Guerlain fragrances. Each and every one of them was really intricate and tasted amazing, but looked stunning as well. They came accompanied by different teas, as well as with some house-made scones. Everything was fantastic, really complemented by the great service from our server, who was super knowledgeable about all of the bites, as well as extremely attentive. We really felt spoiled enjoying the experience! One tip: don’t eat too much (or at all) bevroren doing this, because you will be FULL by the end of it!

We had difficulties entering the hotel because our QR codes are authorized by a non-EU country, which is odd and nonsense because other places in The Netherlands are flexible and can solve the issue easily by comparing our IDs with our corona certificate. After about 5 minutes we were allowed to enter the hotel. Nothing was extraordinary about the tea, just normal. We were told that the teapot is for sharing but we were surprised that each one of us get a teapot. We would’ve chosen different teas from the menu. Service was okey. Sweets were nice.

Lovely Afternoon Tea on Valentines Day! Felt very well taken care of by the whole team. Young gentleman (Yuri) explained every little menu detail very well. Thank you for the nice afternoon we will be back!
