Fabulosa comida, personal, cócteles y pastel! Este es un lugar donde claramente se preocupan por los detalles. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente cuando anhelas comida reconfortante de calidad en un ambiente acogedor.

He estado aquí más de 10 veces, especialidad es brisket - que requiere una larga cocción que no se puede hacer en el acto. La carne cocida debe calentarse para que pueda servirse todos los días. La carne de los domingos (probablemente el último día antes de que se cocine una nueva tanda) sabe horrible: al principio pensé que era aleatoria, pero ahora veo un patrón. El resto de la comida también tiene un sabor bastante pobre a diferencia de los sábados o viernes. Ya que los domingos sin embargo el menú no tiene ningún tipo de descuento, es un poco de una estafa para el cliente inconsciente.

Best meal I've ever had, seriously. The room was a bit too noisy and the reservation system very frustrating but I understand why it's crowded !

Seriously the best place I've been to in all of amsterdam. Starting from the greeting I knew this place was going to be good. The gentleman who seated us was well spirited and uplifting. The food was spectacular, we got the beef Brisket and salmon. The meats are smoked and come with delicious sides. The portion sizes were the exact right amount. We also got the gooey lemon cake which was out of this world. Do not miss the visit to this place if you're in amsterdam!

We returned after 6 years, curious to experience again this restaurant and its cuisine. We had the brisket with black eyed peas and salad and honestly, it was a huge disappointment. The flavour was great, but the texture was so tough and stringy that we could barely cut it with our knives when it was warm. We went through half of the bottle of sauce that they put on the table just to be able to eat it, which covered the flavour of the meat almost completely. The black eyed peas were soft and sweet, but extremely watery. Although service was nice and we were immediately greeted upon arrival and seated, nobody checked on us during dinner, which prompted us to decide not to get dessert nor a second drink and went somewhere else instead. I understand cooking brisket is an art and poses its challenges, but for a restaurant that specializes on this type of cuisine, it should be a must to master. Maybe we were just unlucky, but 5 thin slices of dry brisket plus a small bowl of watery beans and one of the smallest cocktails I've ever seen for 41 euros (for 1 person) is a pricey mistake to make. We won't be returning anytime soon, unfortunately.

We went to Pendergast to celebrate my cousin's birthday and we had such memorable experience. The two gentlemen working one that day was very welcoming. Their suggestions of different type of meat and constant checking up on our experience during our meal was really warming. We definitely reccommend the share portion especially with the brisket and ribs! We also love the sides of black beans and smoked meat. The cornbread adds extra touch to the meal and the coleslaw brought a bright refreshing touch. After finishing the main, they prepare a small but such delightful surprise for my cousin. Thank you to everyone who worked on the 3rd of August for this experience. We will surely come back with our friends and family.

Had a delicious meal at Pendergast. Ate here on the recommendation of my sister. Meat was super tender and tasty. The side dishes of corn rolls and potato salad were also excellent. We took the brisket and burnts ends, highly recommended! In short, we will definitely come back here again!

The brisket is amazing! The pulled pork is already mixed with bbq sauce, not my preference, yet great flavor! Cole Slaw and meaty beans delicious. I would be good to add to the menu 2 meats or 3 meats personal combos.

All meats were very tasty. The highlight was the brisket! Sides like mac n cheese and potato salad were very nice as well.

We were walk ins and were lucky to get a table but would recommend booking as it filled up quickly and after eating here I can see why. We had crispy burnt ends, brisket, turkey thigh, potato salad and Pendergast salad all very tasty. The brisket is amazing 🤩

Fantastic food! Also the waiter was a super nice guy and took the time to explain everything and making sure we had a great time there. The starter brisket burnt ends were absolute heaven and the main dish brisket was also super tasty! Meaty beans were perfect as a side. The mash potato is only available during autumn & winter season so now in the summer you will find potato salad instead. Only thing that was less great was the cornbread which was totally different then expected. Not my thing but I guess a traditional style. Portions are great and surely value for money 🤩🥩 will visit again asap

The food is so delicious, especially the brisket! Mouth watering! Brisket here is so tender and soft and you can really taste the BBQ. The ribs are also so wonderfully tender and the meat slides right off the bone! Pulled pork is slightly spicy and tasty. My favorite dish is fried burnt ends. It's just like a bitterbal, but the meat is just a thick piece of meat instead of threads. This was such a pleasant surprise! Meaty beans was also a tasty combination of beans and meat. To end the evening we also had pecan pie and it was full of flavor and not too sweet.

Truly a hidden gem of Amsterdam. The ribs are to die for, so definitely order those. And their sides are really the cherry on top. I really enjoyed the meaty beans. And for starters, try their burnt ends. You will not regret it.

Amazing experience. Truly authentic smokehouse. A unique place in Amsterdam. The place gets crowded so make sure to book beforehand. The burnt ends as a starter are a must, truly melt in your mouth. If you are three or more, order the shared platter, really delicious and great value.

Everything was delicious! We ordered the shared plate with the ribs, brisket and pork cheeks. The meat was so well cooked that it was melting in our mouth. From the sides we ordered the stew beans, the mac and cheese and the salad. The staff was super friendly and rhetorical place was so cozy. Highly recommended!!!

I would like to express my satisfaction with the meal I enjoyed recently. Both the taste and portion size were exceptional and exceeded my expectations.

The only bad thing about the place is that doesn't fit a lot of people. Because everything else is LOVELY. The food is amazing, everything taste like it was made with love! The staff is lovely and sweet!!!! The pecan pie and the brisket were so amazing Ithay I thought about proposing to the cook! 10/10 would recommend

Pendergast in Amsterdam is a carnivore's dream come true! This smoky spot serves up some of the most epic barbecue I've ever devoured. Imagine brisket that melts in your mouth and ribs so tender they practically fall off the bone. The sides are on point too, and don't forget to save room for their legendary pecan pie. Heads up: reservations are a must, but trust me, it's totally worth the wait! Pendergast gets 5 out of 5 stars from this happy camper!

Llevo viniendo a Pendergast desde 2018 , y si uno incluye pedidos a domicilio durante la Pandemia entonces he comido aquí unas 10 - 15 veces. El menú apenas ha cambiado en ese tiempo. Una vez que hayas capturado un rayo en una botella, ¡mantén esa botella cerrada! La pechuga es tierna y se sirve en porciones generosas con una corteza diabólicamente dulce y derretida en la boca; las puntas quemadas se fríen en suero de mantequilla y se voltean en la boca. Los cócteles te quitarán los calcetines. Las costillas son tan suaves que no necesitará dientes para comerlas. Si tienes espacio, los postres son para morirse, pero si puedes manejar uno, lo estás haciendo mal.

The beef and mac & cheese were perfect!! Also the pecan pie, heavenly good!! Other foods as well were very good, and the service was warm and good. I highly recommend this place!

Best spare ribs I’ve ever had! Definitely coming back for them. Bbq sauce paired perfectly with it. The brisket was cut on the thick side and tasted a bit over cooked. I also wish the side of beans had more beans than meat in it, but it was tasty. Corn bread and Mac n cheese tasted just right.

Best food I've tried in Amsterdam by far. The place is reserved, private with a calm and inviting atmosphere. It does not fel uptight even though it has an elegant vibe. The food we ordered (brisket, turkey and ribs) was the best of its kind I've tried in a long time. Cocktails are also pretty good. I would go everyday if I could. The pricing is also quite fair considering the quality of the food and the experience overall. I would give 6 stars if I could.

Excellent food and service, visit at least once a year as an American who misses comfort food and BBQ. The beef brisket is truly magical, the standout dish. Also an excellent place for turkey and ribs! The sides are great, the mac and cheese and the meaty beans are a favorite. The price can be quite high once you want to try several things, but recommend the sharing plate in this case, because everything is really well done to a high bar of quality. Service is very efficient and friendly.

Beautifully smoked meat. Juicy tender melty with killer flavours!! Nice little hidden gem outside the city center. A definite recommendation. The vibe is very laid back and casual. Menu modest but magnificent. Recommend to book so you don't miss it.

I went here for dinner with my brother and his wife. We had an absolutely lovely evening. The food was great and delicious! Staff was very friendly, and I loved the fact that the restaurant is simple in design. Therefore, it is a bbq restaurant which is not over the top industrial or manly. Loved it! Definitely can recommend! The meat and sides where delicious and the pies out of this world!

Beautiful intimate space 20mins drive from central amsterdam. Fast service and Remko was really good energy! Beef brisket mac and cheese and cheesecake.

Top notch BBQ spot. Cozy restaurant where you definitely need to make a reservation. Super selection of wines and sparkles, big beer range and great cocktails, which l opted for. The brisket was well seasoned through and you can taste that they choose a great quality meat in this restaurant. The sides are also well crafted, super delicious mac n cheese with a 3 cheese sauce - nothing artificial on any parts, pure flavour. Pecan pie was one of the best l came across so far. Would have been an easy 5 star, but the brisket could have been more juicy to be up to a 5 star rating, may have gotten an “unlucky” piece though. This rating of 4 stars, however, is compared to bbqs l had in the states, so to what you can get around here or generally in Europe, this is clearly a 5 star place for authentic grill and smoke cuisine. Will definitely be back to try the ribs. Thanks for a great last dinner in Amsterdam.

5/10 Jesus how overrated this place is. You have to book a table a few days in advance to get a chance to try "best USA-style bbq in Amsterdam". The ribs were dry and hardly had any meat on them, but had a big layer of spices instead, which were peppery hot and smelled like some grass. The brisket was good, sadly it had half kilo of salt on it, could be much better without it. Sides were alright, cornbread was delicious. And the atmosphere just ruined everything, old creaky chairs and wobbly table - is that still a thing in 2024, when you are charging €30 per dish? Place is small but always full, and alot of noisy people shouting at each other make it impossible to relax.

The food is simply amazing. The meat is tender and juicy, and served in very decent portions. The fried olives are delicious, cocktails are very nice, and the service is kind and effective. Really recommended!

Very tasty BBQ restaurant! The brisket and spare ribs are highly recommended, and the corn rolls were also a tasty addition. And a tip, don't eat too full because the cheesecake is also delicious! In addition, a wide choice of tasty beers and cocktails that completed the evening!

As someone who lives in Texas I know BBQ and this food was excellent. They have a smoker from the US and source local wood. The ribs and bulled pork were excellent. The beans and Mac and cheese were also good but I would pass on the coleslaw. Overall excellent meal with great service.

The staff is super nice and helpful. We came by before opening time to see if I could enter the restaurant with my electric wheelchair. A good thing too, because the threshold turned out to be just a little too high, the chef, Ties, was able to find two wooden planks and we were able to enjoy the delicious food. My friend and I shared the Angus Beef brisket, it was super tasty and tender. The meaty beans were also very tasty! I would have liked a larger corn bread, also delicious! The pecan pie was also tasty, the top was burnt, maybe that's how it was supposed to be, I don't know. A downside at a certain point it got busy and people couldn't understand each other.. Finally, RECOMMENDED if you want to eat American BBQ.

Lovely atmosphere to go for a dinner with friends or an intimate dinner with a partner. The food was good, I tried the Turkey thigh, which felt a bit dry but still yummy. The cornbread was delicious! The cocktails felt a bit redundant and overpriced. The desserts were heavenly, especially the lemon gooey cake! All in all, I’d say definitely worth trying this place out!

Super nice and helpful staff, very attentive for the tables. The guy was super welcoming and smiling to the clients it made us feel really comfortable and good about the place. They brought the food super fast and it was delicious. Also, we shared and they brought extra hot dishes so it didn't get cold as fast. Very thought out service. It was a birthday and I sent them an email and they put a candle in the cake we ordered. I would come again any other day when I want to get great food any time. We had the beans with ribs and mashed potatoes with brisket. I loved it all.

I expected better. It's not pleasant. The dishes are fine, not special. It's amazing that with all the options you have in the Netherlands you can still have bad draft beer and still charge €5 for a draft beer... The staff is friendly and helpful but has no knowledge of how to use gift cards.

One of our favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. If we ever eat meat, it will be here, it is that tasty. Be sure to take 'the spread' to share, the pork dishes in particular are incredibly tasty. Delicious meaty beans... As an appetizer, the buttermilk fried olives, OMG! And of course a delicious dessert. Also very nice service. Unfortunately we no longer live around the corner, but we still come back every now and then to eat here, it's that tasty.

Very nice, I would really like to go back but the acoustics prevent me from doing so. A few good curtains could help the acoustics and then I can give 5 stars.

Disappointing experience on a Saturday. Service was typical what Amsterdam is known for: quite apathetic and friendliness on the bare minimum level. The place was filled with groups of loud men excited to eat all of the meat; it felt more like an Argentinian steakhouse than a small American eatery. These groups of men would regularly go outside as a group to smoke. Since it’s a small place it’s quite disruptive - and smelly - for the groups to come in and out constantly. My partner ordered the brisket which was delicious. I had the smoked seitan with mac & cheese, but the seitan was hard. It was difficult to chew after which it felt as a brick in my stomach. Not sure why they use penne for the mac& cheese, but that’s what they do. It’s more pasta than sauce and then it’s even more like a white sauce than actual cheese. We also ordered the garlic mashed potatoes but it didn’t taste like garlic. You’d also expect a smooth mash, but this wasn’t the case unfortunately. For dessert we ordered the chocolate pecan pie, which was delicious. That was probably the only thing really worth it. We ordered the NY cheesecake as well, but there is nothing New York about it. It tasted like silken tofu, so more like a vegan cheesecake. Lastly, when you order a ginger beer you get a 150 ml (!!!) bottle that costs €4. I’ve never seen a smaller bottle except for liquor. We gave the place feedback, but they didn’t come back to us. Rest assured we’ll not be coming back to this place.

We order often from Pender. Their food, meat, is beyond delicious. The beef rib, now no longer, was my favorite. Theirs plenty to choose from but mostly good cuts of prime meat cooked to perfection. We have never been there, I'm in a wheelchair and the restaurant looks packed every time we pass. Keep up the delicious work.

If you like to enjoy delicious BBQ🍔🍗 in Amsterdam, this is the right place for you. The restaurant is not very big, very cozy and the food is simply delicious! You can also order the dishes to “share”, which is what we did. A quick comment about the wine list, it's not very big, but it's really good. I would be happy to come back.

The food here is absolutely DELIGHTFUL. We were a little skeptic at first but we were absolutely amazed with some of the best brisket we have ever had. Very cozy, the food is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend the meaty beans side dish!

We got spare ribs and brisket, both were deliciioouuuuusss! we loved both! meaty barbecued beans as side dish was great.. and dessert: ny cheesecake. highly recommended place! but just one negative thing: the place is extremely noisy!

Very tasty food. Nice place that is a bit hidden near the Westerpark. Beautiful meat dishes and good portions. I recommend ordering an extra side dish. It will be quite a challenge to finish everything, but the side dishes are simply so tasty. Beer and cocktail lovers will also be well catered for. We will definitely come back!

Might be the best brisket in Amsterdam, although some parts too salty, which is understandable cuz the uneven salt seasoning. We arrived there slightly early in the evening, it feels so nice to smell the thicker and thicker smokey meat flavor in the restaurant. And the music and guys in the bar also pretty friendly. Again, brisket and ribs, can’t miss it👌

Bij binnenkomst warm welkom geheten door enthousiast personeel. De geur die in het restaurant hing was de bevestiging dat we een goede keuze hadden gemaakt. Fantastisch gegeten! Het vlees is heerlijk mals en goed op smaak, de aardappelpuree was heerlijk luchtig en de salade 'Pendergast' kwam met een heerlijk frisse dressing die perfect paste bij het vlees. De huisgemaakte BBQ-saus is hemels (en ik hou niet van BBQ-saus...) en de huiswijn is meer dan lekker. Daarbij zijn de porties zeer ruim, dus niet alles was op. Geen probleem, het werd keurig ingepakt om mee te nemen! We komen zeker nog eens terug.

Questo ottimo ristorante ci è stato consigliato da un’amica americana. Abbiamo assaggiato Brisket e Pulled Pork con Black Eyed Peas e Coleslaw. Per concludere Lemon Gooey Butter Cake. Davvero tutto eccellente, mai mangiato un Brisket di questo livello. Il locale è confortevole con luci soffuse, musica Jazz in sottofondo ed una bella atmosfera. È un po’ piccolo quindi conviene prenotare. Quasi perfetto anche il servizio con un solo appunto: abbiamo ordinato una bottiglia di vino rosso Barbera che ci è stata servita troppo fredda. Peccato perché non abbiamo potuto apprezzare il vino nel modo giusto. Il prezzo, considerando la qualità complessiva è stato nella norma.

Belachelijk lekker gegeten! Vooraf; De crispy fried bisket , een aanrader! De butterfried olives Hoofdgerecht: De beefbrisket.. Deze was zo zacht, dat kauwen overbodig was, én precies goed gekruid. De Loinback ribs vielen zo van het bot af.. En ook weer perfect gekruid, geen overdaad aan kruiden..subtiel. Bijgerechten: De mashed potato... Niet normaal lekker Vers, warm...lichte knoflooksmaak, maar weer heel subtiel.. Nog nooit zo een lekkere mashed potato gegeten...zelfs niet bij mijn moeder thuis. De Mac' n Cheese Heerlijk..geen overdaad aan kaas.. Subtiele saus, vers. Grote porties, dus bestel niet te veel.. Zoals wij deden... Super chill personeel Let op: Aanbetaling van 20 euro p.p bij reservering

My wife is Cajun, my son was born in the American south (I am in fact... Dutch), and honestly when you walk in the place it does smell like an American BBQ restaurant. The ribs were fantastic, the pulled pork was good, chilli and mac-n-cheese great as well. Good beer selection. Things that are off or may have been catered to Dutch tastes. I don't think I have ever had corn kernels in cornbread in the USA. The brisket had a smoke ring but I could not taste any smoke flavor, and was very greasy/lacking salt or a strong rub. Some hot BBQ sauce would have been appreciated/traditional American as well. Only sweet provided.

Very solid restaurant overall, especially recommended for meat lovers (but not only). We tried brisket and turkey as mains. Brisket was definitely more flavorful than turkey. I felt like the turkey was just okay- not super great but also not too bad, lacking salt for me. What I really really liked were burned brisket ends, garlic mashed potatoes (buttery soft and packed with garlic flavor), meaty bbq beans and pecan pie! For people who aren’t huge on meat I would recommend skipping the “main” dishes and ordering large sides and dessert. We were there on a Sunday night- not a single empty table, and the space is rather small w tables close to each other, so prepare to raise your voice if you really want to have a conversation.
