Nice lunch spot with delicious sandwiches and toasted sandwiches

Very nice atmosphere and very kind service. The drinks (matcha latte) were delicious! But the food was a real disappointment. Most of all the fact that we ordered eggs benedict, which according to their catalogue came with Hollandaise sauce! This was certainly not Hollandaise, but mayonnaise and not even hand made! Also the gluten free bread wasn’t fresh enough and the general meal lacked seasoning. In general a quite disappointing experience as far as food is concerned.

It's really great here! The atmosphere is fantastic and so is the food! We were very pleased with how quickly we were served, and even when a large group wanted to order, they asked if we wanted to order earlier, otherwise we'd have to wait longer. Fantastic!

Nice, cozy place, but the acoustics could use some improvement. The food was delicious, but it didn't seem like much, just enough to fill your stomach. Could be a bit more. Staff were sometimes intermittent. Sometimes it was difficult to find someone to pass on something or to ask questions in between. It would be a win-win situation. I haven't personally experienced any bad reviews.

Great vibe, tasty food and attentive and fast service

Bistro atmosphere. They've done a great job with the interior and tableware; it's also a feast for the eyes. Cozy, small, and inviting. Extensive menu with plenty of vegetarian options. Lunch was fine: not exceptional, but certainly not bad.

Unfortunately this place was not for us. We left here feeling very confused regarding why it is we just spent 84€ for below grade food. Service and atmosphere were exceptable, but the preparation of the vegan items are in need of great improvements.

How disgusting it is for a dog to stay in a restaurant. It's wandering around among the guests. It's incredibly unsanitary. The dog gets picked up by staff, and their hands aren't washed. Never again!

Very sad experience calling the restaurant to ask the Chef about the possibility to accomodate dietary restrictions. The waiter responded arrogantly, eventually asked the Chef. I could hear everything and understand French (they obviously did not realize that): the waiter said “there is this annoying person who cannot eat anything…”, and the Chef replied sighing “pfff well tell her to stay home”. I found this attitude and remarks unprofessional and inappropriate - Kitchen and horeca experts understand that people deal with health issue when inquiring about restrictions. The lack of empathy and of professionalism as well as the outspoken arrogance is a shame for the profession and community they represent, and it should be known to other customers.

This place was outstanding. Not only was the food and service of a great quality, but my friend and I arrived late and they were happy to stay open well past their advertised closure time, in order to gratify their guests. Strong recommendation.

The restaurant is average. The food is more or less okay, but the staff is awful. If you have nowhere else to go, this is the place to go. I hope it works out.

Lovely restaurant with soul and delicious food

We were at the Portuguese Synagogue and were looking for a place for lunch. I had the Chicken Club, on Gluten Free bread, which was very good. My wife had the Caesar Salad with chicken, which came with Avocado. She liked that as well. We had an order of Fries that were fresh and tasty.

We had breakfast at Petit Lou’s and everything was great! The service was warm and friendly. We ordered petit déjeuner and it was 10/10. The music and aesthetics were perfect as well!

The sandwiches aren't generously filled, which is understandable for the price. I had to wait a really long time for my food and drinks. The staff is friendly, but not always attentive.

A nice spot for breakfast. The portions are generous, but unfortunately nothing exceptional. For example, the bread could be toasted to go with the avocado and eggs... But other than that, it was pretty decent!

Warning: my girlfriend and I got food poisoning there this afternoon. We thought the lunch wasn't that great; the gravy tasted a bit strangely watery, and we both had poached eggs that were already cold and sour avocado goo on our sandwiches. We were even discussing it during lunch: gosh, they must have already prepared parts of our lunch yesterday. After our museum visit, we cycled past it again, and I popped in to report that I'd had diarrhea and suspected the food. The bar staff was friendly, but reacted a bit laconic and didn't seem particularly interested. Just as we got home, it started happening to my girlfriend too.

Visited for a band performance and jazz jam on Sunday night I started with a Kombucha made in Holland and a tartine with what seemed to be basil, tomato and cheese… DELICIOUS and a fair size I was torn between the sea bass and duck confit. I went with the duck and was not disappointed, the vegetables and mushrooms served with it were great and plenty. The fat was delicious and seemed a bit sweet, it was wonderful For dessert was a pink chai latte (beetroot makes pink) and a blueberry cheesecake for dessert. Cheesecake graham base was incredible along with everything else Highly recommended, especially if they have music playing

A nice, well-organized menu. Perfect before our visit to Carre (which is a 5-minute walk from here). My partner's chicken burger was okay. The sauce with the fries was quite spicy. As usual, I ordered a Caesar salad. "With chicken" is an option. The chicken was also well-seasoned. No regrets. We enjoyed ginger beer and cider with it; also good choices. The service was also good.

It's not the first time I've been there and I've been served by a very unfriendly guy at the cashier's desk. It is very uncomfortable to go to the place and have him act like he hates everyone.

It's quite unusual and impractical that takeaway coffees are served in lidless cups and even without sleeves. Not the most thoughtful design for on-the-go drinks.

Had a lovely breakfast at PETIT LOU with my sister, brother and the kids. We enjoyed a perfect uitsmijter, a fresh salad and a nicely poached egg – all fresh and prepared with care. The owner was very hospitable and made us feel welcome right away. A warm, cosy place where you can start the day with pleasure. Definitely worth repeating!

Were here about a year ago for coffee & cake on the terrace where the sun was just shining on a not-too-warm Sunday. Mon. Returned May 5 for lunch. Eggs Norvegienne and Steak Sandwich were good. Prices for food and espresso and other drinks okay. Sat inside. Nice spot by the window. On sofa & chair. Bank was quite 'well-worn'. Suggestion: put down cushions, for those who want? Good, neat toilets. We live within walking distance of the center and will come back again!

We ordered 2 sandwiches without drinks so they wouldn't get cold while we were eating. The sandwiches were dry and without any sauces. So my husband took a couple sips of the water we had with us. Seeing the bottle of water on the table, the waitress reacted negatively with an irritated expression on her face. She could ask for the water to be removed with a smile or courtesy, or bring a glass of water, which costs nothing. But this could be called good service. The sandwiches themselves are cold (which is strange for a breakfast) and dry, as I said before. This place has good reviews about large portions and reasonable prices. We paid 16€ euros for a portion where the main part of the dish is just bread. We decided to find another place for coffee and dessert.

What a beautiful start to a beautiful day. We did not know about this beautiful place, but by chance we stopped because we were feeling a little hungry and decided to have breakfast at Petit Lou. It was one of the best experiences we had during our vacation in Amsterdam. It was a unique experience in all aspects. The customer service was very, very, very wonderful, provided by our brother David, a graceful man who makes you feel that the whole restaurant is yours. He suggested some delicious dishes to us, such as smoked salmon and eggs, and the coffee was very, very, very beautiful. Thank you and we hope to see you in our Saudia lands. Thanks .

Cute cafe close to the Watetloo Plein. My sandwich was good: I had the steak and onions on a brioche bun. The chai latte and banana bread weren't great. The bread was super dense. The servers were really nice and attentive. Overall, good, and I will probably stop by again.

The best burger we had in a very long time! On top of that, the staff is caring, cheerful, efficient and professional. All aspects we are not used to, unfortunately, in the Netherlands!

Staff is friendly. Atmosphere is good. Quality of food and coffee isn’t consistent. Some examples are: portion sizes vary. Ratio of milk, foam and coffee in cappuccinos also varies. Which is a shame because Rumbaba coffee is usually delicious. One day scrambled eggs are dry, lumpy and the next time it’s greasy curds instead of creamy. Medium rare steaks come out well done, but they do correct when asked.

Great food, most reasonable prices of anywhere I’ve been to in AMS

We stumbled upon Petit Lou by chance but it ended up being one of the best dining experiences my friends and I have ever had. We especially loved the Carpaccio and the Duck L’Orange - and the service was impeccable. We were lucky enough to watch the Jazz Band’s jam session for the whole evening which made the experience that more special - couldn’t recommend this venue more! :)

Upon entering we were greeted by the smell of old frying fat. Our burgers were mediocre in taste. 2 out of 3 burgers were served at the same time, we eventually had to ask for the last one, it turned out that it had been ready for a while (it wasn't busy). Price quality is not in proportion.

Had a lovely drink with my son and husband this evening. Afterwards we had a delicious meal with a great meal live performance by a great Jazz band! What an evening!!! The service was great. We were truly welcomed as guests. We just enjoyed it and will definitely come back

Had a bite to eat with family before we went to Carré. Very friendly service, food good price quality. Only tip of advice: use decent olive oil with the sandwiches instead of what was currently included...

Na een voorstelling in Carre hier geluncht. Bij het telefonisch reserveren heel hartelijk gesprek gehad. Dat ze het leuk vonden dat we kwamen lunchen en ze wensten ons een leuke voorstelling. Leuk tentje bij binnenkomst, leuke keuzes aan lunch. 2 hadden de lou's sandwich en 1 de smeersel met steak en een de tosti met tonijn. Al het eten zag er goed uit en was heerlijk. Goede bediening en bij afrekenen werd gevraagd of we nog een bolletje macaron wilde. Die was zelf gemaakt. Heerlijk. Toen we op straat liepen, bleek dat 1 van ons de telefoon had laten liggen, de bediening kwam ons hollend achterna. Dat was een service!!!

first of all, I am really sorry for this cafe because they do everything so bad. For instance, we have ordered pancakes and eggs benedicts they all came really cold and late and also the taste of the food was not that good. Pancakes were dry, thin and were too sweet. Other than that, when we wanted to pay the bill the waiter told us that he cannot split the bill and we had an argument with him about the issue. So we are really devastated about everything here, I hope they can fix these features of them…

I recently visited this café and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience. While the staff quickly arranged a table and brought out drinks, the service deteriorated rapidly after that. We waited 35 minutes for a basic lunch, which is far too long, especially given the underwhelming quality of the food. The food itself was a mixed bag—the soup was terrible, while the burger was just okay. After the drinks were served, the staff seemed to forget about us entirely. Overall, the slow service and inconsistent food quality make this café not worth visiting.

The food was sensational—delicious, served promptly, and reasonably priced, offering excellent value compared to other places in town. In fact, I would normally consider it heresy to compare anything to my own mother's cooking, but in this case, the comparison is not only fair but well deserved. The atmosphere was spot on, creating the perfect setting for a lovely time. We will certainly be returning!

I went with friends and the food was really not so good. We had to put a lot of salt on the sandwich to make it taste like something. There were a lot of flies circling me and my friends and the staff was rather cold and unfriendly. They gave a mean look when you called them over as if they were annoyed to walk to you. Will not be returning sadly.

This place was a few steps from my hotel so I decided to give it a try and ended up coming here twice in 3 days. It's a nice option for both breakfast and lunch. Nice menu, cozy place and atmosphere as well as friendly service. It was a good experience overall. My favorite was the Sophie sandwich. I would come back to try more items from the menu.

The food is good for brunch , we ordered croquet madam ,cesar salad (not so cesar at all it has dried tomatoes, pouched egg and avocado) , soup of the day, French toast and sophie sandwich which is avocado brioche All was good overall but not to die for The service is verrrrrry slow deadly slow, I never got my french toast even after 15 min of waiting they said they need another 15 min! We get the food and then the cutlery after a while But to be fair the staff are very friendly
