Nice place away from the city center. Just 5 minutes from there. Prices are high (regular for Amsterdam) and dishes are small. Food is very good. Steak was interesting.

I've had the Polly' breakfast: warm French toast with banana, avocado toast with poached egg, granola bowl with fresh fruit and warm chocolate mouse. All super delicious!

unfortunately had a rather uninspiring meal here — ordered the steak frites and the steak came EXTREMELY DRY and tough (it was also less red than in the picture), i genuinely am confused about how a steak can be literally bone dry, it felt more like an overdone roast beef. fries were very good though i must admit... service was also quite inattentive as the crew rarely came to my side of the restaurant and i asked for tap water once but it never came.

We had a super delicious meal, very flavorful. Good wines and pleasant service. The restaurant has a nice location, and if the weather is nice you can eat outside, which I think is even more relaxing. Inside, however, it is a bit noisy and echoes quite a bit.

A really delicious sandwich with poached eggs and avocado, served with a spinach salad! Absolutely fantastic! Or a steak sandwich. The service was friendly, but she had trouble with the math.

The good: Very atmospheric and cozy restaurant at the head of the IJ. Nice hustle and bustle with the ferries and the various bars and restaurants. 5 stars for the staff; friendly folks, neat and attentive. They also speak Dutch, which is a definite plus. Polly's Blondje is a tasty beer! Salmon crudo and steak tartare were fine. The bad: Then there is the food, which is what it's all about in the end... And I'm actually not super enthusiastic about that, just like the business model. We were here with a large group and we could let them know in advance what we wanted to eat. Afterwards, on the bill, you simply pay (royally!!) for side dishes you didn't order. Apparently, the meals came with: - a Caesar salad, a small bowl, which wasn't much more than a few heads of lettuce swimming in a greasy dressing with cheese (at €7.50), without it being ordered and placed on the table; - small bowls of spinach with, once again, a load of cheese. Apart from the fact that it wasn't ordered, this too was really not tasty and cost another €7.50; - apparently, the half chicken didn't come with fries, but the steak did. For a small bowl of fries with mayo, it was another €6.50. Apart from the fact that it wasn't even tasty or a salad—more like a bowl of yogurt with lettuce leaves—the prices were therefore quite bizarre and not ordered. As for the rest: the half chicken was very dry and in parts even tough (even though it is chicken). For €23, there was no side dish included, so you would just be eating a dry chicken. - Steak frites not very special, with a super salty pepper sauce; - for dessert, the sticky toffee was a brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream but *no* sticky toffee; - the dame blanche seemed to have the sticky toffee of the sticky toffee, was otherwise not very special. In short: nice location, you pay for that location, the food doesn't live up to it. Quite nice for a drink.

Nice spot. I come here often. It's super cozy here, both inside and out. Good location and a tasty lunch menu. I did find the avocado a bit sour the other day, somehow.

Dear reader, A seemingly small building, with surprisingly many seats. And from an Amsterdam perspective, it includes a relaxed (free) ferry crossing. It is located right next to the ferry terminal, the IJ promenade, and Eye Filmmuseum. A relaxing journey. Michèl

After some hesitation about where guests are allowed to park their bikes there, we had a lovely, relaxed business lunch on the sunny terrace. It was a Monday, so fortunately it wasn't packed, ordering went smoothly, and the food was good. The service was good too :-) Dutch-speaking staff and even willing to chat, which is almost a dying phenomenon in Amsterdam. A BLT with fries, just as you would expect. Nothing to complain about.

A coffee...a dessert...my family loved it. I don't eat gluten, so I had a hot chocolate. The service was very quick and the young waiters were all smiles.

Great spot anytime of the day. Staff are so friendly and helpful, especially when Dutch is not your native tongue. Well worth popping in for a cheeky half and bittenballen.

Very good restaurant. The food is exceptional- the price meets the quality. There isn’t a wide range of food, but we had the soup which was super good, the Caesar salad was delicious and the beetroot scads with burrata was amazing. I would definitely recommend coming,just be prepared to wait for the table and food for a while. The service was also great 😇

We found this place has a nice rating and checked it out. It turned out to be a typical amsterdam tourist overpriced bare minimum place. Food dry, tasteless. We ordered a steak, for example, - we were not asked how do we want it, was just brought a super rare and 10 fries in a tiny glass with it. Its hard to describe the bare minimum attitude but you feel so unwelcomed there. Everything says “finish your business and bye see you never” Also, all prices are 20-30% higher from the last year or from the menu pictures you see about this place. Im wondering why this place has a high rating - dont trust it. We didnt see any food from pictures, we got a Temu version of it. Overall just very careless attitude in food and in service. Too overpriced for that bare minimum attitude. When you pay 30-50€ per person for dinner and the experience was bad…. Never again

Incredibly friendly service. The snacks, or as they call them, Bar bites, are also great. And you can still go there after 9 pm. That is really nice.

We had brunch at this cafe. Doesn’t look like much from the outside but has a nice interior and vibe. All the food was very good in value and taste. The staff were kind and friendly. Coffee was exceptional. Worth a visit if your looking for somewhere to eat after going to the Amsterdam lookout.

What a brilliant place. Came here twice because the first visit was so good. First time, 11 of us arrived and were a bit of a nuisance, but the service was great and the food was fantastic. Came a second time just two of us, and it was just the same. Loved my food, and looked after as you’d want. Lovely pub even for just a drink.

I tried this lovely restaurant right on the ferry from Central Station with two friends. Because of the good overall rating, I decided to accept the recent negative reviews about the food quality. The service was attentive, enthusiastic, and pleasant. The food arrived quite quickly. We unanimously ordered the half chicken for €25. It came with some vegetables, but the fries had to be ordered separately for €6. To our great disappointment, the chicken wasn't very flavorful and, above all, seemed undercooked. It was a real struggle for all three of us to get the meat off the bone. This, while with a properly prepared chicken, the bones should be easily pulled off the meat. It's truly disappointing how a simple dish like grilled chicken can be served so poorly.

Polly Goudvisch was a fantastic choice for our team dinner and easily accommodated our group of 15. The ferry ride over was incredibly easy, though tourists should note there is a last return ferry, so don’t book too late and risk missing it. The food was absolutely incredible, matched only by the outstanding service throughout the night. One thing to be aware of is that the bathroom is up a very steep set of stairs, which could be challenging for anyone with accessibility needs, though this didn’t impact our experience. Overall, this is a must-stop spot with amazing food, great service, and a memorable setting.

The breakfast croissant was warm and crispy, delicious! However, I only got a knife and no fork, so it was a bit of a mess. The cappuccino was okay. The kids' mini hamburger only had a plain bun with a plain hamburger patty. No lettuce, tomato, or cucumber. One drop of sauce. That's it. With a small portion of fries, which my son thought were okay, and a small container of mayonnaise for €10, I thought it was ridiculously bad. The banana cake was quite large and tasted good. The service is very friendly and goes above and beyond when it's busy, recognizing you when you return. The restrooms were spotlessly clean.

We ate here yesterday on a company outing. The service was excellent and the food was delicious! The confit duck leg and the mushroom pâté were my personal favorites. We also enjoyed the delicious cocktails; definitely recommended!

Great location at the Centraal to Buiksloterweg ferry exit. Stopped by for a beer and a late-light lunch, sat outside on a rare sunny day in December. Good selection of beers on tap, the crispy chicken sandwich and Parmesan and truffle fries were delicious.

Great place. Fantastic location. They make amazing coffee. It's very busy though; the bar is always full. They're trying their best, but it's quite chaotic, so they can't do more. So it depends on what you're in the mood for!

Sigh... This is really hard. We went into the restaurant around 2:40 PM, ordered drinks first, and then ordered food at 2:45 PM. It was past 3:30 PM and the food still hadn't come out, so I asked a staff member. They said they'd check and let me know, but they didn't let me know again. I went again around 3:45 PM to ask another staff member, and they apologized and gave me water. The food came out fifteen minutes later at 4 PM; if it seemed like it was going to take a long time to come out, shouldn't they have told me in advance or at least given me an estimate? It's not like I'm ignoring people, and I understand they're busy, but this just doesn't feel right. When the food came out, I was so angry that I couldn't even taste it and wanted to go home. Only go if you have a lot of time; what's the point of having a lot of staff? Haha. Honestly, I ordered two dishes, and I wouldn't know if it was something that would take a long time, but it wasn't and it only took five minutes to eat.

I've been here several times, just yesterday. Since I was alone, it wasn't obvious to the waitress that I wanted the menu straight away. We spoke briefly and clarified the situation. Afterward, I had another incredibly good and delicious meal. The filet was almost too large for medium, but just about perfect. The tiramisu was fantastic. On a previous visit, the double cheeseburger was also very good. I highly recommend it if you're willing to spend a few euros more for quality. Next time, definitely go to Polly :-)

A restaurant where I couldn't eat! We had 1 hour to spare to drink beer and eat the main course (it was meat). It seemed enough, but no. The beer was brought quickly, but we never got the food, even though I was rushing the waiter. At the same time, the people who came at the same time as us had already finished eating. Then I asked the waiter to pack some for us to take away, even though it was inconvenient for us. Apparently, this kind of service is not provided in the restaurant, because there wasn't even a bag to put it in. A good place only for having a couple of glasses of beer with a friend in a pleasant atmosphere without food

I was completely amazed ! The service, the food and the wine were magnificent ! I have never had a better piece of chicken in any restaurant anywhere. And my wife's steak was done to perfection. With good reason we like to complain about restaurants in Amsterdam, but Polly Goudvisch should actually get an extra star. 5 is just not good enough to describe the simple dining pleasure we experienced.

Great place, friendly service, but the food wasn't anything special. My wife had the couscous salad, but it was bland and inedible. The staff did ask if she enjoyed it, but they didn't act on the feedback. A shame, because it's otherwise a nice place.
