True Italian vibe, great food and service

A true neighborhood gem. I’ve been coming here for years, and it’s still one of my favorite spots in the area. The place is small, cozy, and full of that lived-in charm you only get from a real neighborhood restaurant - especially one sitting right on the beautiful Herengracht. Some of the harsher reviews make me smile, because they feel like the perspective of tourists who may not appreciate what makes this place special. For me, it’s the warm, homey atmosphere and the genuine hospitality. The food is consistently delicious, the vibe is relaxed, and it always feels welcoming. If you’re looking for an authentic, comfortable Italian spot with a local feel, this is the place. Absolutely deserves five stars.

An incredibly fun and charming restaurant; we made a reservation here this summer after receiving a warm welcome during a downpour. The service was excellent and friendly, and they were very helpful with the wine list. The dishes were delicious with top-quality ingredients. The setting is also charming, on the Amsterdam canals, right in the city center, yet very cozy. We will DEFINITELY be back!

The place is small and cramped, but the food is top-notch. The prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious and excellent. The house wine is also excellent for the price. The beef carpaccio, in particular, is a work of art. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely dinner on the canal, the food was really tasty as well as the wine.

Bad experience at this restaurant. We had a reservation through an app (thefork) with a loyalty discount. After finishing dinner, the owner told us he had no record of the discount. We showed him the reservation with the discount, and he continued to deny it. He showed us HIS app, and it showed us that it was a reservation with a discount, and he still continued to deny it. He quickly moved his phone out of our sight. He said he didn't work with the discount program. We showed him that his restaurant DID advertise with the discount program, and he still denied the evidence. In short, a very bad experience at this restaurant. I think this trick must have paid off for him at some point. Be careful.

I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant. The food was wonderful, and the waiter was a kind-hearted person who could easily suggest something about the menu and add to the mood of everyone in your company. The selection of food is large, which will suit both small children who eat only pasta or adults who want something extravagant. The chef also treated us to desserts for free. All the food was wonderful, the staff is very kind and helpful. I highly recommend!

We moved away from Rembrandt Square in order not to sit in overpriced tourist restaurants, but to have a delicious meal and relaxing vibe. We accidentally sat down in this place and didn't regret it at all! The host, husband and wife, are very charismatic, friendly and with a great sense of humor, very open, real Italians. Seafood pasta is just a delight, my husband ate pasta with beef and it turned out to be magical as well. My respect and love the chefs for their cooking. I recommend visiting this place because being in Amsterdam it takes you to the real Italy.

Incredibly rude. I asked for a table and got seated and ordered some drinks. 5 minutes later i get asked very rudly from a different waiter to leave again, because apparently there was a reservation coming. There was plenty of more space but i wasn’t offered any other table and apparently they only do reservations and no walk ins what so ever. It did feel like they only wanted to give the table to two people tho, because they would spent more money.

Disgustingly rude. My family and I were harshly dismissed by a middle height, brown old man because we were carrying a baby trolley. Please don't encourage this kind of behaviour by giving your money to this business.

Why take booking via website that they can’t cater for. Left waiting outside for an hour for a table that was never going to be.

I was truly shocked by the tone. The person I dealt with was extremely unfriendly—there's no other way to describe it. Condescending, disrespectful, completely out of place. I've never felt treated like this in Amsterdam before. I really can't think of anything more to say. A store (or team) that treats people like this should seriously consider how they conduct themselves when dealing with customers. Absolutely not a recommendation.

Shockingly unfriendly! Unfortunately, a very disappointing experience. We wanted to have a glass of wine and then a meal there, but were immediately turned away by the waiter. He said you couldn't just have a drink there, as it was a restaurant and not a café. When we then explained that we would of course also like to eat, we were suddenly told there was no room left – even though there were several tables free both inside and outside at that time. It seemed as if they simply didn't want to serve us. We found this unfriendly and unprofessional – a shame, because we were looking forward to a pleasant evening. This kind of treatment of guests is truly disappointing and we've never experienced anything like it in Amsterdam!

ESPECIALLY DO NOT GO THERE. Probably the worst restaurant we have ever been to. Read all the previous negative reviews because that's exactly what we experienced. The table was dirty, the menu really dirty too. lousy welcome. one of the two servers is really disrespectful. he “plays” the nice guy who is a little crazy but the service is horrible. It's also very, very unpleasant because they run everywhere in all directions. no organization or know-how. we ate quickly, paid and left. the meal was just about okay, but way too expensive for what it is!. I don't understand how this restaurant is still open and I don't understand how it can be so full every day despite the many negative reviews. You will find another restaurant right next door that is 10x better! (Tapas).

A real moment of pleasure. The boss runs around like a headless chicken, but always in a good mood and that adds to the atmosphere! Pappardele ragu was really good, although a little too salty, and the plate was quite filling. The swordfish was good, but a little bland. The seafood accompaniment was perfect. The sorbetto al limone was homemade and very good, but not whipped like a sabayon, (as expected). Don't come too late, the room fills up quickly.

The starters and meals were incredibly delicious. When I told them that my wife was a vegetarian, they listed the alternatives they could make. Everything was very good, except that the place was small and the tables were a little cramped!!

Este NO es el lugar para ser quisquilloso si quieres la mejor noche de fiesta. Una vez sentado, se le ofrecen sugerencias basadas en lo que está disponible y hecho fresco. Tienen un menú, pero decidimos dejar que nos alimenten, ¡nuestra forma favorita de pedir! Si Sammy (Samuel) está trabajando esa noche, ¡usted recibirá un regalo! Solo 7 u 8 mesas en el lugar y las manejó todo solo como si estuviera dando la bienvenida a una gran reunión familiar... saltando de mesa en mesa, un poco de vino? un poco de limoncello? ¿Otra “coca cola”? Compartimos tanto la lubina entera y luego el filete con salsa de champiñones y trufas - ambos excelentes! Pedimos una guarnición de su pasta casera y nos dieron rápidamente un pequeño plato de espaguetis ligeramente aderezados que devoramos en un instante (y fue al dente! ). Aunque los vinos son lo mío, tomé la sugerencia de Sammy (Samuel) para su casa blanca y casa roja y de nuevo - sugerencias perfectas! Las opciones de postres eran escasas para cuando terminamos (los domingos por la noche suceden de esa manera) , por lo que nos ofreció un Sgroppino hecho a mano - batiendo un sorbete de limón alcohólico con Prosecco hasta que sea suave y bebible. ¡Seguramente las haré en casa este verano! Todavía estamos viajando por Europa una semana más y nos dirigimos de regreso a Amsterdam unos días antes de volar de regreso a Canadá. No me sorprendería que mi marido nos pregunte si podemos volver una vez más antes de irnos - ¡fue TAN bueno!

Crazy place, waiters and chef hilarious, atmosphere was busy and buzzing. Food was OK, but not exceptional. The stairs to the bathroom are very steep, be warned.

Un restaurante muy agradable, ocupado con un montón de mesas en el interior y un par de mesas en el exterior. Reserva con antelación cuando esté ocupado. Nos saltamos los entrantes y fuimos directamente a por la pasta especial del día, que era muy agradable y una porción de buen tamaño también. El servicio era bastante rápido y el camarero era muy divertido y muy atractivo. De vez en cuando se quedan un poco atrás ya que están tan ocupados, pero nada excesivo. El rojo de la casa también estaba bien, y el tiramisú estaba delicioso. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo y lo recomendaría.

The food was good, but not “unforgettable”. It's a small, cozy Italian restaurant where you can feel like you're in a local, hidden gem in the backstreets of Italy. The waiter, who I believe was also the owner, was friendly and funny, though it was a bit on the limit. The house wine was the best on the table.

The best Italian outside of Italy that I have ever tried, they are authentic Italians, very very nice and pleasant as well as funny🤭 It is very worth going, but it is quite small so it is best to reserve although we were lucky that there was a free table. The pasta and everything is made by themselves and even the water is from Tuscany. Everything is too delicious, it is a mandatory stop.

We found this restaurant from Google and made a reservation from Google. Even the waiter didn't receive the reservation notice, but he still got a table for us. This nice family restaurant provided an amazing food and service. The waiter gave a good recommendation for the wine to match the food.

The warm welcome and super attentive and friendly waiter who served us. With a joke and a chat, also recommending the menu and wine in a wonderfully enthusiastic way. The dishes were a feast for the eyes and delicious from start to finish. Highly recommended for an evening of delicious food!

Unfortunately the experience we had was not the best, and would not be visiting this place in the future. The food itself was ok, but nothing special. All the rest was not really good - The waiter was constantly making unwelcoming jokes and was very unprofessional. At the end of the dinner there was a strong body odour - There was a bad smell where we were sitting and the entire place did not seem too clean. One of the knifes had some old food residue - The menu itself was in a bad state, it was old and new prices were stuck on top. There was no menu for the specials, and the waiter does not tell you the prices, so unless you ask, you get to see it on the bill at the end of the night

The place was literally empty and they said that they do not have table for one. Shame on you!!

Esto fue CASI divertido, fue tan ridículo. Mi marido tiene una enfermedad grave y se enfría fácilmente. Entramos en Ponte Arcari y pedimos otra mesa que no fuera la uno dos - parte superior que estaba disponible cerca de la puerta, que sabíamos que sería demasiado brisa para mi marido. Preguntamos si podíamos sentarnos en una mesa grande que parecía estar desocupada porque no había ningún signo reservado en ella. El hombre que nos saludaba se enfureció, increpándonos por preguntar por una mesa que "claramente estaba reservada", y luego anunció en voz alta frente a los otros comensales que "todo el restaurante estaba reservado", y luego se retiró en un suspiro a la cocina. Nos quedamos de pie en el restaurante con todos los ojos mirándonos en shock. El camarero / gerente podría haber explicado amablemente que la mesa grande estaba reservada y no se podía dividir como pedimos, y nos habríamos llevado de buen grado cualquier mesa de la puerta. Fue raro y embarazoso y ciertamente no es una buena mirada para la hospitalidad de Amsterdam! Tenga en cuenta que la gestión de este lugar es antipático y poco complaciente - - aunque si decide ir, espero que sea tratado con menos hostilidad.

Our waiter was incredibly welcoming and funny. His suggestions for dishes were also top notch. The food and drinks were amazing so excellent that we put it on our list of restaurants to return to when we’re visit Amsterdam again. We only wish we had heard about this place sooner.

Very nice atmosphere, looked very cozy and nice staff. But that was it. Doors and windows open in winter temperatures. Added to this is the incredibly bad food. Everything looked great, but it tasted like the glass cleaner had spilled out on the food. Everything was way too sour and by far the worst thing I've ever eaten. Never again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I felt sorry for everyone in this restaurant and when new people came, I just wanted to stop them from eating there (far too expensive for what you got for it)

Absolutely fantastic food and atmosphere! My friends and I were lucky to have nice enough weather to sit on the lone outdoor table. We ordered the venison ragu, lobster ravioli, chicken pesto, steak and mussels to start (plenty of wine). Every dish was exceptional; fresh, delicious, and expertly made. I don’t think there is a wrong option on the menu. Definitely consider the specials, they know what they are talking about. Highest regards to the chef Alessio and owner Alex who made the experience unforgettable. We had a chance to talk to them as we finished our meal and they entertained with lively conversation and stories. Two top gentleman and fascinating characters, who run a world class restaurant with excellent food. We are headed back to Canada tomorrow and we couldn’t have ended on a better note. Please do yourself a favour and experience this restaurant. Not for the faint of heart however. Only come here if you are prepared to enjoy yourself thoroughly.

Wat een vreselijke plek. Gastheer alleen maar met zichzelf bezig, totaal desinteresse. Lijkt meer op een slechte comedy dan een restaurant. Wij zijn niet aan het eten toegekomen. Nadat wij rode wijn geserveerd kregen ipv wit was de maat vol en zijn wij opgestaan. Nooit weer !!!

This wonderful small Italian restaurant is located on a corner of two beautiful canals with a terrace, and the owners always treat me like a special guest. I came here once in a while in the last 30 years since I was a student and took my father, mother and aunt here. The menu is affordable and always good! Last Sunday my brother and husband joined, we had a great dinner once again, after which we were treated for a limoncello and fantastic tiramisu! Thank you for all the great memories! ❤️

Ponte Arcari is a small, cosy Italian family style restaurant on a wonderful corner plot next to one of the bridges spanning the Herengracht canal. There is a relaxing, laid back, friendly atmosphere that immediately makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk through the door. The cuisine is of an extremely high standard which in hand with the friendly staff culminates in a great dining experience. The freshly made tiramisu is to die for! Ponte Arcari is ideal for a quiet, intimate dining experience in a great canalside location. A visit here is a must during your stay in Amsterdam.

You want to go to the theater to see an unpleasant show...this is the place to choose. A fake Italian greets you by acting like a clown. Nothing to do with the CLASS of Italians. Whistles at girls in the street to fill his poor restaurant, and so on. WC, and kitchen more than limited. The dishes ???are we talking about it??Help, pure scam. Best at home at a lower price. With all the restrictions that Amsterdam is putting in place, this type of establishment ++++ should close. The controls don't exist??Seriously, it's really bullshit

What a wonderful evening we had. We had friends visiting from Australia and chose this restaurant. The staff were very friendly and made the evening very fun. The food was delicious, the lobster ravioli was our favourite (thanks for the free tiramisu as well!).

Buiten op het kleine terras langs de gracht in het zonnetje hebben wij gisteren heerlijk italiaans gegeten. Vrolijke bediening en mensen met lol in hun werk. Het eten was goed en simpel italiaans, zoals wij dit in Italie gewend zijn. Lekkere wijn en afsluitend met heerlijke huisgemaakte tiramisu en limoncello. Als we niet aan de gracht hadden gezeten hadden we gedacht dat we in Italie aten! Absolute aanrader als je van gezelligheid en lekker Italiaans eten houdt.

Food rather expensive but very good. The portions are also very large. The ambience is 10 out of 10 but the service was a bit too much. To be honest, I haven't booked a comedy show. In meme language: Bro, you doin’ too much.

We entered the restaurant and asked nicely if they served drinks because we thought there was a terrace outside. But a waiter replied very aggressively "we're a restaurant, not a bar, good night". I was shocked by the way this man treats customers, I really wouldn't recommend it, the waiter really wasn't polite. I've never experienced such disrespect when asking a question in a restaurant.

I have been eyeing this restaurant for a while now and we finally went there tonight. It is absolutely fabulous. The menu is small but the food is amazingly fresh and delicious. The service is incredible - the owner is just the loveliest and friendliest. And the location for the restaurant is quintessential Amsterdam - the outdoor seating is on a lovely corner and the indoor is so quaint. This is now definitely on our list of favorite restaurants and I can't wait to come back.

Good food, nice location - BUT: you are basically checked in - with a lot of Italian fanfare, but get in quickly, eat quickly, next! We were "relocated" once during the starter, then they wanted to relocate us again because they wanted to squeeze even more people into the restaurant - very businesslike. After the unsolicited bill and payment, we were politely asked to leave twice because new guests were waiting outside.

We were here a few years ago and really wanted to eat there again. Super good food and nice staff. This evening we were a bit disappointed; one of the waiters caused a lot of unrest. It later turned out that this was the owner of the restaurant. It's always a shame when a boss treats great staff like that and it also bothers the guests.

Wir waren vor ein paar Jahren schon hier und wollten unbedingt wieder dort essen gehen. Super gutes Essen und nettes Personal. Heute Abend waren wir etwas enttäuscht, der eine Kellner brachte grosse Unruhe in das Geschehen. Im Nachhinein stellte sich heraus, dass dies der Eigentümer des Restaurants war. Immer schade, wenn ein Chef mit super Personal so umgeht und dies auch die Gäste stört.

Restaurant to avoid. I think these people have never set foot in Italy!!! Truly. Even though I wasn't convinced from the beginning, we still decided to eat there because it didn't seem that bad... what a huge mistake. Not a single person speaks Italian, they don't even speak English!!! We order food, I ask if the fish is fresh and they tell me that everything is fresh. I have pasta with seafood and nothing, how disgusting 🤢!! The seafood had a spoiled taste and the pasta was hard and seemed reheated, not forgetting that there must have been 50g of pasta on the plate, for the tidy sum of 21.50!!!! When I went to complain about the dish, the waiter replied "what's the problem, don't you want to pay?" 😅 he got angry and said that he didn't care anyway 🥲 when it was time to pay the guy stammered that we didn't have any money, and he was also rude to my friends who hadn't said anything. He gave me a discount anyway, and I paid 15 euros. He threw us the receipts and left. They should close restaurants like this oh my goodness!! Change profession, you don't know how to cook or even take care of your customers. 🤢

Food that doesn't keep promises: claims to be "Italian" but serves uncooked (or even reheated) pasta with frozen seafood after promising us that everything was fresh. The quantity isn't worth the price either. We went to complain at the end of the meal and were greeted with insults from the staff. My friend went to the toilets (via the kitchens...) and saw insects there....I don't recommend.
